And I will no doubt continue to wear them (I adore my grey ones).
boots and tunics and such.
Blasphemy!
That is until I started reading all of your comments.
And like I said, there were lots of them.
I figured y’all listen to me be bossy all the time, so it was high time for me to listen to y’all.
And you know what?
You girls are smart.
And you know your leggings.
Give me a second, and I’ll prove it to you.
So anyway, after reading all of your comments on Friday, I knew I would be copying this outfit.
And this was my Saturday outfit.
via |
Here’s how I did it.
So. I’m not kidding.
Now.
Yep, it’s my turn to be bossy again.
If you want to know how they hold up to work-outs, you can click HERE and read just a small portion of the 1,800 hundred or so 5 STAR reviews. Or you can click HERE to see what other PTMT readers had to say about them on facebook (a couple of girls have even run marathons in them and love them!).
And as far as everyday wear (not working out), I’ve been trying to figure out how to explain why I like them more than my previous must have Hue leggings. The Zella pair has a wide waistband (just like the HUE), but I feel like they are better constructed all the way down. Like I feel like they suck in my bottom, hips, and thighs more that the Hue do. Does that make sense? My neighbor (Hi Heather!) says they are compression pants, and that sounds right to me! They just make me feel tighter. And I feel like that’s a really good thing.
A PTMT reader (Hi Morgan!) left the following comment on facebook last night:
They are great and not just for working out, although they are great for that too! I haven’t worn the must-have leggings since I got the live-in!
Morgan, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I understand.
😉
You can wear them to work out…and you can wear them to go out!
So enough about the leggings for a minute….
I hate to be double bossy today, but my chambray shirt is a work horse in my closet, and I was actually unsure when I bought mine several years ago if I would wear it. Bless my heart.
I love mine (it was from J Crew Factory several years ago), but it’s sold out now and has been for quite a while. Make sure you scroll through these pics to see all of the great options! There is even a maternity option included!
And if you don’t follow me on facebook (you totally should by the way because I give lots of sneak peaks!), check out this layered shirt.
It looks like it will appropriately cover the crotchal area, and it has built in layers, which is a perfect leggings look! A couple of different ladies commented on the facebook post that they have the top and love it (click HERE to see the facebook post).
Does anybody else have this already?
That’s it for today girls.
In summary, I have loved my Hue Ultra Wide Waistband leggings for over a year, and I will continue to love them (and wear them).
However.
My new Zella Live In Leggings are the bomb diggity.
The End.
xoxo,
p.s.
Thank all of you for your comments and support on my post on Friday about my yearly struggle with my weight! It seems like MANY of you deal with the same thing! And I’ve gotta tell you, I loved hearing that I’m not alone!
In addition to all of your kind words, a couple of you also suggested that I do a weekly check in, and if there are enough ladies out there who would read it, I think that’s a great idea! I think I’ll do a little review every Friday and we can hopefully all hold each other accountable!
Please leave a comment if this is something you would be interested in!
And just in case you don’t follow me on facebook or just didn’t see….
I posted THESE super fun live in leggings on facebook over the weekend, and got lots of great feedback! Click HERE to see the facebook post!
p.p.s.
You need to check out Shay’s blog today for sure!
If you’ve been following along with her story, then you know Ashby came home on Thursday!
I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of her homecoming celebration at the airport. It was such a special night, and it was great fun to be able to gather with other friends and family that have prayed for Ashby for so long.
Welcoming the new Shull Family of 5 home was one of my favorite experiences EVER!
Ashby is absolutely precious, and she is going to be so blessed by her new family.
But more than that, this little girl is going to bless everybody in her path too!
Blessings all around!

Girl! You are so sweet to put our family on your blog today! Listen, we have eaten the pie and cupcakes you brought us all weekend long. I am so full and happy on sugar that words cannot even describe it :). Love you so much!!

Thanks for the leggings tip!! And I am going to buy that long Target tank in 500 colors!! Susan

I have had the live in leggings for about 6 months now, and I'm drinking the kool aid too. They really are better!

Me again. YES to the weekly weight loss check-ins!
Polka Dot Blossom says
The weight loss check-in would be read by this girl! 🙂
Alaleh says
Yayy so glad you jumped on the Zella legging train. They are the best!!!! And I've had the same pair for over 3 years and they still look and feel brand new! Never stretch out and thicker and warmer than the other must haves! Love them!
Liz F. says
I am a definite YES to the weekly check ins–I am in the process of losing baby weight (I have a 3.5 mo old) and am in the awkward stage of being too small for my maternity clothes but not yet able to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans. My vanity prevents me from purchasing clothes in bigger sizes so thank goodness for my multiple pairs of Hue leggings. And now apparently I need the Live In ones as well 🙂
Anonymous says
I am in 100% agreement on the leggings endorsement. I've worn Zella Live In leggings for about 2 years now. In fact, I never bought the Hue leggings, because I couldn't imagine ever liking them more than my Zella's. They are fantastic!!!!!!!
April Parrish says
Well…you talked me into it! Just purchased the leggings and can't wait to see for myself!
Have a blessed day! 🙂
Megan says
ok….I can't wait to try these leggings!! they sound heavenly!
Michele @ The Joyful Home says
My leggings should arrive this week, and I can't wait to try them! I've been a Lulu fan for years, but would love a cheaper option. They also come in awesome colors and prints that I'm convinced will make my workouts more effective 🙂
Tory says
I would definitely be interested in the weekly check-in!!
Shawnee says
I ordered the super fun ones you posted and the turquoise capri ones this weekend. I probably should have gone ahead and ordered the black ones too. I own a pair of royal blue/black capris that I workout in and run in and I do love them and they don't sag….however doing jump squats or burpees, etc. the top of them do sorta roll down and I have to pull them back up. I love that they are thick and not see through at all. I workout at least 3 times a week but really need to do it more. I'm all for Friday check-ins. My biggest issue is food….I LOVE to eat and it's not very healthy stuff that I love so much!! 🙂
Sarah Kuykendall says
I am heading to Nordstrom today and I just may need to add a pair of these leggings to my Hunter boots purchase. And yes, would love a weekly check in.

Count me in on a weekly check-in! I love reading your blog and I thank you for being honest about your struggle with extra pounds. I have the same problem! I must admit that I purchase many of the items you suggest and I have envied how good these items look on you….on me, not so much! But, I also use you as an inspiration to "get in shape" so ALL the cute outfits you post will look GOOD ON ME TOO! Soooo, lets hold each other accoutable! THANK YOU!
StaceyWalden says
Sheaffer I just love your blog. The voice with which you write with is so fun and witty that I feel like I am having a conversation with an old friend just reading it 🙂 Thank you for all of the informative and fun posts—and for inspiring my love of Kendra Scott and Kate Spade stud earrings from Nordstrom! Aside from that…I think the weekly work-out posts would be great! I'm stopping breastfeeding next month when my daughter turns 1, and that means I will be kicking it back into full-gear with workouts so that I don't gain weight back (breastfeeding can be a struggle but at least we get the perk of all that extra calorie burning!). A weekly check-in will help keep me on track!

Yes! Please do a weekly check in! That would be awesome! I am looking to slim down in time for summer & shorts & tanks & all that fun stuff! It would be great for accountability to see/share our weight loss & tips! So please, please, please make this apart of your blog!
God Bless!

YES!!! PLEASE do a Friday check in! I'm going to be doing this right along with you, and I would just love to know I can look forward to Friday for support! Also, sorry, but what size did you say you wear in the new leggings? Thanks, Sheaffer :)))
Sheaffer says
Hi Missy! I'm wearing a small in the leggings!
Missy says
OH, I forgot I wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" for putting the prices of items you feature under the pic. I love this so much- it helps me! #itsthelittlethings :)))) I'm sure it takes you more time, but I want you to know I totally acknowledges it & appreciates it !!

I can't get your link to the leggings to work! It says it can't find the "restyle me page". Help!

Woo-hoo!!! I am all about leggings all day everyday….especially since momma is getting her butt into gear in 2015! Thanks for always sharing the best of the best! 🙂

Just ordered the leggings and I cannot wait til they arrive!! Please tell me where to get the grey "cover your butt" t-shirt you have on in the pics. Thanks, Julie

Thanks for the "compression" tip …. I have wasted sooo much money on looking for the perfect legging, your tips and advice are much apprectiated! Thank you for the update from Shay, what a wonderful experience! pippa
Lori says
Okay, I'm going to be honest here and say I am really scared to do the leggings look. I am petite and while I am pretty well balanced, I am a bit curvier on the bottom than the top. I worry the whole long top over leggings thing will just emphasize all the wrong parts since I generally feel I need to emphasize my waist. But YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO CUTE it makes me want to try… Sigh. Oh, the dilemma of being a short pear. 🙂
Courtney McKinney says
So happy you are loving these leggings! My Hues have become backups for when all 3 of my Zellas are dirty 🙂 I also would love a check in!
Anonymous says
I'm loving the leggings and I'd love a weekly fitness check in!!!
Caits says
So question… When the leggings are too long and you're not wearing boots, what's a short-legged girl to do? Help! 🙂
Sheaffer says
When I'm working out in them, I just cuff them up! I'm considering getting a pair hemmed to see how I like it. I'll keep you posted! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Theresa Cupit says
I have had leggings hemmed and they turned out great!! I am also 5'4".

I am interested In the weekly check ins. I would definitely read about it. You are my inspiration to start working out again! I have been following your blog for over a year, but have never commented.
Meg says
I need to know about the white Tshirt, please! Did you mention it and I missed it? I love how long it is! I need it ?
Sheaffer says
Hi Meg! The long white tee in the inspiration picture was just the picture on Pinterest. I have no idea where it's from! So sorry! My grey tank I'm wearing in my picture is a long and lean tank from Target! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Mary Deckert says
I bought this tee yesterday and it looks very much like the tee in the inspiration picture above. It's a lot longer than it looks in the online photo. Really cute! If you buy two they're $20 each instead of $29. I don't know if this link will work, but anyway the tee is called the Caslon Shirred V-neck tee.

Yes to the weekly check in post. I'm a passenger on the same weight fluctuation train…….
Mandy says
For those who are using these to workout, do you find them to be too hot for inside the gym? I'd like to give them a try, but I'm concerned they may be too warm for me with the fleece lining.
Lexi says
I've never had a pair with fleece lining? Buy the regular live in pair and they'll be fine. I wear them and the Capri version in the gym all the time!
Mandy says
Thanks, Lexi!
Mary Deckert says
I've got to ask: since these are workout "tights," is it as imperative to cover the crotchal area? Not that I wouldn't! Just seeking clarification on what we all know has been a non-negotiable rule on regular leggings.
The Rohman Family says
Yes, fitness check-in? I mean, we got serious today, right? I'm counting on us to do this! I TOTALLY got serious today.
kristinwithani says
I've worn Zella compression leggings/capris for two years for exercise and it has NEVER crossed my mind to wear them as normal leggings. Never. Hm, I have to think about this. I'd feel like I was cheating on my Hue leggings. Yeah, I don't know, they are for running.
Heather says
I have the Hue leggings and I have Zella (although my favorites are from Lucy and have a special belly compression zone). They're borh awesome but they're very different. The Hue leggings are softer and more comfy, the Zella/Lucy/Lululemon/Athleta leggings are constantly holding me up and in. Sometimes I just want soft! Glad you love yours and I love the chambray shirt!
Kelly says
My Nordstrom sells the Zella leggings in activewear and Point of View, so it is clearly acceptable to wear them outside of the gym. I also love the Two by Vince Camuto legging, it is thick with a wide waist and seams down the back of the leg.

I love, love, love your blog! I have purchased several items that you have recommended including the 'blardigan'. I ABSOLUTELY love it!! Like I can't even say that enough! I have wanted one ever since you introduced us, but couldn't quite convince myself to spend the money. SO, I put it on my Christmas list and have basically lived in it since. So, thank you! Also, I went to Nordstrom after Christmas and was going to pick up a grey pair of the HUE leggings because I have a black pair and wear them all the time. They were out of my size, so I left that department thinking I would just order a pair online. As I was leaving, I noticed a sale rack of leggings. There were a few pairs of the reversible Zella leggings, so I tried a pair on, and LOVE! I have been living in them as well!! I still wear my HUE leggings, but I do think I love the Zella pair a little more. One other purchase I made was a pair of the Hanky Panky underwear. I do love them, but wanted to share that Victoria's Secret has a line that I think fit the same for a fraction of the price. 😉 Anyway, thanks for being so informative and hilarious!! 🙂
Chic Coastal Living says
Love the Zella line and those leggings look great on you! XO
Lexi says
Live In leggings have been my go to leggings for years now! They really are the best for everything from running to yoga to everyday wear. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant and am even more obsessed with them as they still fit SO comfortably! That wide waistband and the "suction" in the butt and legs are key. They are also the greatest travel pants ever. I've worn them on 26 hour flights, I've worn them all day walking around cities in tall boots and a tunic top, then thrown them on the next morning for a long run around the new city. I'm a lululemon girl, but never buy their leggings anymore!
One thing I want to note, as someone who has been buying them for years, is that Nordstrom puts all Live In leggings on sale for $36 every year for both the anniversary and half yearly sales! I've never paid full price and your readers shouldn't either:)
Cassie Mulanax says
I found the live-in leggings about 3 years ago, I am never without them! They are perfect for every need. I'm pretty sure there have been weeks when I didn't wear any other pants…Like ever, the whole week! I have purchased lots over the years but every pair still looks and wears like brand new. They are long but Nordstrom will alter for us shorter folks. Also, the capri length is awesome, they do not creep or twist like many others. And as Levi pointed out, they go on sale for anniversary and half yearly, stock up then!
