Happy Wednesday, y’all!
I’ve got a Shopping With Sheaffer post today and I’m pumped! I haven’t done one of these in awhile, but working on it reminded me that I love doing these kinds of posts. And I’m not only going to be sharing items that I’ve grabbed over the last 2-3 weeks, I’m also going to tell you what items I KEPT and what items I RETURNED.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: LIGHTWEIGHT CARDIGAN
I wore this outfit to church on Sunday (and to eat Hutchin’s BBQ after church). #yum
The cardigan is new, ON SALE, and FANTASTIC. Mine is the “tan cobblestone heather” and it’s a beautiful neutral, but it comes in several other colors if you’re looking for something else. It’s lightweight with an open front, and it drapes beautifully. Its weight makes it a PERFECT spring and summer cardigan. I love it paired with my itty bitty boot cut jeans, but I’ll wear it with straight leg jeans, skinny jeans, white denim, denim shorts, and black slacks! It’s SUPER versatile and can easily be dresed up or down. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
VERDICT ON CARDI: KEEP OF COURSE! I’ve only had this sweater for 2 weeks, but I’ve already worn it 3x. This is going to be a staple for me.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: FLUTTER SLEEVE TOP
This top is a gauzy cotton blend, and I’m in love. I’m wearing the “violet stone”, but gosh I love the white and the coral too. The sleeves are a double flutter, the neckline has tiny little pleats (see the instagram stories I posted yesterday afternoon for close up detail), and the split neck is just the right length. It’s just a pretty little top! I’m wearing a medium.
VERDICT ON TOP: KEEP! KEEP! KEEP! I’m so happy about adding this top to my closet. It’s going to look great with my favorite white denim.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: FLORAL FLUTTER SLEEVE TOP
This floral flutter sleeve top is from the same maker as the top above, and it’s the same cut too! There are differences though.. the fabric is more of a silky rayon, and it’s obviously a floral print. It’s adorable. I’m wearing a medium in this one too.
VERDICT ON BLOUSE: So I’m still on the fence on this one. I know it’s the exact same cut as the violet top, but I still think I’m going to keep it. Because of the different fabric and pattern, it doesn’t feel too similar at all.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: MILITARY JACKET
So I’m not really sure if this is a true military jacket or not, but I’m calling it one because it’s army green and because I’ll totally style it like I do other military jackets. What makes this jacket better (totally superior, actually) is that it’s incredibly soft and stretchy. And great news, it’s ON SALE! Like it feels like a cozy sweatshirt, but it looks oh so chic! This jacket is FANTASTIC. Prepare yourself to see it in lots of future outfits. For size reference, I’m wearing a small, so I would consider sizing down.
VERDICT ON JACKET: So I know I have lots of military jacket, but I’m keeping this one. I’m keeping it because I want to continue to show y’all different ways to style it and because it’s SO DANG SOFT! However, keeping this jacket means I’m going to return the jacket from last month’s post. So far I had only worn it for the photo shoot, and since I still have the tags, it’s going back.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: STRIPE BACK SWEATER
This crewneck sweater is business in the front, party in the back. I mean, it’s a preppy party, but it’s still a party. And it’s ON SALE.
It’s soft in the front, and the pinstripe fabric in the back is like a button-down shirt material. I’m wearing a small, and there is still plenty of room, so I would suggest sizing down. It will look awesome with white jeans.
VERDICT ON SWEATER: RETURN. Now, this is a great top. In fact, the only reason I’m returning it is because I already have a plain navy crewneck sweater AND I have a grey sweater from year’s ago that has a mixed media back like this one.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: GOLD CHAIN SANDALS
So these are the sandals I was wearing in many of today’s outfits.
They are totally chic, look designer, and are much less expensive than you’d think. THEY’RE ONLY $34.95. They are very comfortable, true to size, and I love the super slim profile. And I of course think the chunky gold chain makes the sandal. Now I will say this, the chain makes a bit of a clanking sound when I walk..but I don’t think I care. BECAUSE LOOK HOW CHIC.
VERDICT ON SANDALS: I’m rolling the dice on these babies. Yes, they’re clanking a little bit when I walk, but let me again say LOOK HOW CHIC!
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: GREEN MUST HAVE LEGINGS
We’ve had a couple of rainy days around here lately, and this has been my GO TO outfit!
I’m wearing my MUST HAVE leggings, my favorite Zella tee, and my new oversized denim jacket. I LOVE THIS OUTFIT and the Zella tee and Zella leggings are BOTH ON SALE!
If y’all have been around since the beginning, you might remember I named a Kut denim jacket a MUST HAVE way back in 2012 I think. It was the 2nd or 3rd must have I ever named on the blog. I still wear that jacket, but I thought it was time for a bit of an update.
This denim jacket is longer and a much more relaxed fit. I love the updated look! For size reference: I’m wearing a medium in the tee, a medium in the jacket, and a small in the leggings. The sneakers are true to size.
Verdict: Y’all already know I kept the denim jacket.
It’s the green MUST HAVE leggings we are officially reviewing in this outfit.
These are the newest color in the MUST HAVE leggings. And if you are keeping track, you would know that these are the 4th pair of these leggings I own. I own the black (more like a dark charcoal), the royal blue, the pink, and now this vibrant green! I mean, these babies scream “SPRING!!!!!”!
These are high waisted like the Zella high waisted live in leggings we all know and love. But get this, the waistband is a soft ribbed material. They don’t have as much compression as the original leggings, which actually makes them even more comfortable! And I’ll take comfort over compression every day of the week.
In addition to the cute pockets and the awesome ribbed waistband, there are also cute little bands at the bottom. I keep getting questions on if they are more like leggings or more like joggers, so here’s my official answer: They fit like leggings, but they are more in the style of a jogger (with the big pockets and banded cuffs). They’re awesome.
Also. THEY ARE SO SOFT. Like reallllllllllly REALLY soft.
And I’m telling you, the fit is adorable.
For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
VERDICT ON GREEN LEGGINGS: Y’all already knew I was keeping them, right?
And a quick look back because you’ll see the same outfit formula below.
It’s the same outfit, but with just a different color tee and leggings. Both of these colors are ON SALE as well (although the blue tee is almost out of stock).
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: MAXI DRESS
This stretch cotton maxi is like an updated maxi dress. It’s more fitted, has a bit more structure, and it has pockets. This would make an excellent travel dress. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
VERDICT ON MAXI DRESS: RETURN. I think this is a great dress, but it was a bit long on my frame and just felt like too much dress for me. If you’re tall and thin, you pretty much HAVE to buy this dress. You’ll look amazing in it.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: DENIM JACKET
This denim jacket was sent to me by HSN, and it’s awesome! It’s soft, it’s stretchy, and it’s a bit longer than the other light wash denim jacket I have.
VERDICT ON DENIM JACKET: This was a gifted jacket, but I’m happy to keep it!
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: PUFF SLEEVE TOP
This striped puff sleeve tee is super soft, but it’s got a little bit of weight to it, so it’s kind of 1/2 way between a tee and a really lightweight sweater.
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
VERDICT ON PUFF SLEEVE TOP: RETURN. I have a top from last year that’s super similar, or else I would definitely be keeping this one!
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: EMBROIDERED DRESS
So I haven’t actually worn the next several outfits, BUT I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO BREAK THEM OUT IN REAL LIFE.
Social Threads dropped some new arrivals last week, and they let me pick a couple of things for them to send me. I of course immediately chose this embroidered dress. It is absolutely adorable. It’s fully lined, beautifully made, and the embroidery work is gorgeous. It’s got a little flutter sleeve with pompom trim. It’s my favorite a-line silhouette, and it’s all sorts of forgiving. This would make an excellent Easter dress!
I’m wearing a medium here, and you can see that I have lots of room in it. I would actually like to try a small and see if I like the fit of it better.
VERDICT ON DRESS: KEEP! As mentioned, this dress was gifted to me, but I am definitely keeping it. FYI, Social Threads sends me items every month to review, and if I don’t love the item, I send it back! I have plenty of clothes, and I don’t want to ever add something to my closet that I don’t love.
ITEM BEING REVIEWED: EMBROIDERED TOP
They also sent me this embroidered blouse. More gorgeous embroidery work! The details are so feminine and pretty, and I’m smitten with the colors. If you have a long torso, this shirt might be too short for you, but it’s not a problem for me. I’m wearing it out here, but I can still do a little 1/2 tuck as well. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
VERDICT ON EMBROIDERED TOP: KEEP! I mean, duh.
That’s it for today, y’all!
When I did a Keep or Return post last year, I said I was going to make it a regular thing….but this is only the 2nd Keep or Return post I’ve ever done. So what do you think? Do I keep this post around?
