2019 has been such a fun year for Sheaffer Told Me To. Thanks to you ladies and the fact that you’re so willing to share this space with your friends and family, the blog continues to grow. You recommending the blog to others is the highest compliment I can receive, and I’m incredibly grateful to all of you for your love, your loyalty, and your support. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I know it sounds cliche, but your feedback and constant support is what makes this blog so rewarding for me. (Make sure you read to the bottom of the post for a little THANK YOU giveaway!)
I thought naming the TOP 10 ITEMS FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR was a fun post to do right now for several reasons: 1) As 2019 comes to a close, what better way to wrap up the year than recall our favorites? 2) I did this last year too, and it was super interesting. 3) I know lots of you have Christmas money burning a hole in your pocket, and these items are obviously tried and true (and I would highly recommend them all).
Just FYI, before we get started, I’m going to have a totally separate post for my Top 10 Amazon Reader Favorites. Look for that next Monday!
And for the record, I guess it should come as no surprise that most of MY top items ended up being Y’ALLS top items too! I mean, when I absolutely LOVE something, I talk about it over and over and over again. It’s like some quirk that I have. If I realllllllllllllly love something then I want y’all to know about it and love it too. It’s like I make it a personal mission for you to at least try the item so you can form your own opinion!
I now present to you…..the 2019 STMT Reader Top 10….
#10 was a tie….. JUST LIKE LAST YEAR! And in previous years, both of these items have made the Top 5 list. In fact, 1 year one of them was #1. They are still going strong several years after I first introduced them to you. Can you guess what they are?
I’ll give you a hint, I wear at least 1 of them EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
You can click HERE to see a post where I talk more about both the bra and the undies. (Scroll to almost of the bottom of the post to see all of my thoughts. You’ll see a picture of the bra and the undies together, and I share my thoughts about both of them right above the picture.)
And although this bra didn’t make the top 10 list, it should have. I mean, it’s a strapless bra that I wear when I don’t even have to wear a strapless. Yes, it’s that good.
Also, although they didn’t make the Top 10 list, these undies are also favorites of mine (and y’alls as well). I found them a couple of years ago, and I like them even more than the above when a panty line is a real concern. We’re talking NO VISIBLE PANTY LINES. AT ALL. And they totally stay put. Click HERE to get to two different posts I wrote awhile back about my favorite items from Soma! It’s a brand that I now love. My favorite Soma items are the no show undies, the wireless enbliss bralette, and their cool nights pajamas.
Number nine is a great pair of flats. These are flats that I wore this year all the way from March to November.
I have this pair of flats in both a leopard print and a tiger print, and when I looked at the numbers for both of them, they both came together for #9. Click HERE to see the post where I highlighted the tiger print flats.
They are true to size and comfy.
And here are the leopard flats. Back in April I claimed that the leopard flats were one of my favorite purchases so far for the year year, and I even said I bet they would make my 2019 Top 10! Click HERE to see that post!
There’s another pair of shoes that was just shy of making the Top 10 for the entire year, which is seriously impressive since I didn’t start talking about them until November…my Sorel booties. I couldn’t agree more. I would consider them a Top 5 find for this year for me personally!
I named #8 THE GATEWAY JEANS a couple of years ago and claimed they make you look taller and skinnier than you already are. I stand by that claim years later. So many of you have purchased them over the last several years, and apparently, people are still buying them! I guess that happens when I continue to talk about them year after year and they continue to stay stocked. Did you get them?
Click HERE for the post where I originally sang their praises, gave sizing info, and showed them in several different outfits (a couple of years ago). I’ve had these jeans for 3-4 years now, and I absolutely love and adore them. I’m wearing my regular size 4, but some size down.
You’ll adore them too…but only if you like feeling skinny while being super comfortable.
Had there been better stock, I feel certain that these pants would have probably made it to the Top 3 for the year. The first time I talked about them, they sold out in 1 day. Then they were restocked, but they sold out again. Since then, sizes have come and gone, but great news! Some sizes are currently in stock right now! I have both the black and the grey.
They truly are THE PERFECT WORK PANT. And even though I don’t work in an office, I’m so happy to have a pair of pants like this in my closet. EVERYBODY NEEDS A PAIR OF CLASSIC BLACK PANTS. And if they look amazing but feel like pajamas, EVEN BETTER! The fabric has a nice weight to it, they don’t show wrinkles, and I love the built in belt. AND LADIES. THEY ARE SOOOOOOO INCREDIBLY FLATTERING. I feel like a million bucks in these pants. Oh, and they also have the Ab-solution power mesh panels! The belt is made out of the same stretchy fabric that the pants are, and I love how its presence helps to define my waist.
SIZING TIP: This is important. I would definitely suggest sizing DOWN. I’m wearing the regular 2s (not petites). I’m almost 5’4″, and I’m always a solid 4, but I definitely needed the 2s in these. Really, size down. I know sometimes people are hesitant to do this, but if you don’t size down, you won’t like these pants. So please, give them a fair shot and size down.
Click HERE for the post where I go on and on about them and style them in several different outfits.
This item has been in my Top 10 since the beginning of the blog. It’s been in my Top 3 for several years, but I’m guessing that after so many years that most of y’all already have at least 1. And let’s be honest, I’m guessing that many of y’all have more than 2. #nojudgement #ihave4 #okay5
First there was the original, then there was the baby, then the the hooded (ON SALE NOW), and then the long line without the hood (I have the olive). The last one is the newest that I added to my collection this year.
I’m guessing y’all know what #6 is by now.
We’re talking about blardigans of course!
This year’s addition is definitely one of the longer blardigans, so you taller ladies need to pay attention! It has a consistent hem length all the way around, and it’s definitely long enough to be worn with leggings outside of the house. At 5’4″, it comes very close to grazing the tops of my tall boots, so I usually wear it with booties for a better proportioned look. I hear lots of ladies say this is their favorite because of the fact that it can be worn with leggings so easily. The fit is also on the slimmer side. There’s not a lot of extra fabric, so I would say it’s the most streamlined of the blardigans.
Over the last 7 years, I’ve created quite the collection. I have 1 original, 2 baby in different colors, 1 hooded, and 1 long line without the hood. I love them all for different reasons.
Here’s a baby blardigan.
And here’s a hooded blardigan. I’m wearing the indigo-stone here. I think it’s going to be awesome with jeans, a tee, and sneakers too. I’m wearing the x-small/small.
I slip one of my blardigans on almost every single night. It just gets me in a cozy frame of mind.
If you don’t have one, I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to spend Christmas money on one of the above blardigans. Like, even if you have just $100, GIFT YOURSELF A BLARDIGAN.
Yes, they’re expensive, BUT YOU WON’T REGRET IT. I wear one pretty much every day.
Click HERE to see my side by side review I did a couple of years ago of the different styles if you’re having a hard time deciding which style to go with.
Back in September of this year I started wearing a crew neck cashmere sweater, and I haven’t stopped. Both the black cashmere sweater and the camel cashmere sweater have been in numerous posts since then, and it’s NOW ON SALE!
The versatility of this sweater really does range from weekend wear with jeans, to office wear with suits and pencil skirts. It simply morphs to the needs of the outfit and the occasion. It is truly a classically beautiful wardrobe staple. It’s just pretty. The color, the fit, the material. All of it. Pretty. (Remember, if you don’t want the price tag of cashmere, you can click HERE for a great camel colored option just under $20! And you can click HERE to see me in it.)
And here it is in black! And with the #8 jeans again!
My other favorite sweater this season (was in the Top 15) has been this crew neck that I own in several colors. The sweater below is the “red mum”, although I think it definitely leans coral. And now this same sweater comes in a blush color block and a pink multistripe that are calling my name. I’m wearing a small and it’s still oversized.
Out of all of the products in the Colleen Rothschild line (and I use and love MANY of them), the cleansing balm is my favorite product by far. It totally changes the taking off your make up game, and I’m telling you, you won’t even dread washing your face at night. I KNOW. That’s a big claim, but I stand behind it.
AND LOTS OF YOU TRIED IT AND NOW AGREE WITH ME!
This balm truly has a cult following. For those of you that haven’t tried it yet, it’s different than any other cleanser I’ve ever used. First of all, I apply it to a dry face. I scoop out a small amount of the balm with dry hands and slather it on to my dry face. And as I rub it on my face, the heat from my hands changes the balm into more of an oily texture and it just feels incredibly luxurious. It melts my makeup away, leaves my skin feeling amazing and hydrated, and the light citrus smell is PERFECT.
Not only do I use it to cleanse my face morning and night, I also use it as a type of leave on mask when I’m battling dry skin. If my skin is dry, normal moisturizer tends to just sit on the surface, and my skin won’t absorb it enough to be properly moisturized. But when used as a mask, the cleansing balm hydrates my skin like nothing else can, and I cannot recommend it enough.
AND GREAT NEWS! When I contacted the people at Colleen to let them know that their Jumbo Cleansing Balm was on my Top 10 list (actually, MY TOP 5 list!), they wanted to celebrate by reinstating our code!
Use the code BALMBARGAIN to get the Jumbo Cleansing Balm for ONLY $69! That’s only $4 more than the regular size cleansing balm, and it’s a little over TWICE as much product! Depending on how much product you use, people report it lasting between 6-12 months. I would say that it lasts at least 9 months for me….and that’s with me using it to wash my face AND use it as a moisturizer when I need it! When you price it out the cost per month, it’s a FANTASTIC deal.
And just FYI, if you want to try other products besides the cleansing balm, you can shop the entire site for 20% OFF with the code BYE2019. (TIP: You cannot use two codes in the same checkout…but if you’re dying to try the balm AND you want to order other products too, you could always check out two different times. And it’s FREE STANDARD SHIPPING on orders of $49 and more, so you won’t be paying any extra shipping.)
Number three makes me realize that y’all are my people. Because COMFORT IS KEY for y’all too.
Two pairs of leggings were in my Top 10, so I combined them for a joint Number 3.
First of all, THESE 7/8 WORKOUT LEGGINGS WITH POCKETS have been such a hit with everybody! So flattering, so handy that that they have the pocket, and so affordable right now with the SALE PRICE! You bought them LIKE CRAZY during the Anniversary Sale. Seriously, with only a couple of mentions during the sale, they still ended up on the Top 10 list. The stock is low for these, but you can click HERE for other Zella high waisted options, some ON SALE.
These faux leather Spanx leggings came out of the gate hot when I first started talking about them in November. I’m thinking that everybody was just in a leggings mood, because sooooooooooooooo many of you jumped on the bandwagon super fast. And just like I knew y’all would, YOU LOVED THEM.
They are worth EVERY. DANG. PENNY.
I’m telling you, if you want to feel like a million bucks, treat yourself to these leggings.
They are great quality, they wash well, they don’t stretch out, and perhaps most importantly – you will feel amazing in them! I size up to a medium in these (I wear a small in all other leggings), and they fit perfectly. I’m guessing a small would work too, but I really like the comfort level of the mediums. They are a couple of inches too long on my 5’4″ frame, but I only wear them with tall boots, so that’s not a problem. And that’s great news for you tall girls that would like to wear them with heels!
They suck you in and totally slim you down, while still allowing you to breathe. It’s a thing of wonder.
I sized up to a medium, and most others report sizing up too.
Also… these leggings emerged as a new favorite for me this year, but I’ll talk about them next week in my Top 10 Amazon post!
In addition to the #8 jeans (THE GATEWAY JEANS ), I had several new pairs of jeans this year that also made it to the top 10.
Because the number was so close on several of the jeans I featured this year, Number TWO is really about highlighting the most popular jean brands for me (and y’all) this year!
Several of the jeans I fell in love with this year are sold out (I had frayed hem ankle jeans, white jeans, high waisted denim, and even a button fly pair all from KUT), but this ankle pair is still available!
I also liked the dark wash high waist skinny jeans from KUT.
Wit and Wisdom is the other brand that I totally gravitate towards, and I’ve also worn and loved several different pairs of Wit and Wisdom jeans this year. Several of them are now out of stock, but my black jeans continue to be one of my favorites, even after all of these years.
camel cashmere sweater / sunglasses / tortoise shell link necklace / earrings / must have denim jacket / tortoise shell ring belt / Wit and Wisdom black jeans / leopard booties / bracelets / fringe bag
I also love this next pair. They are a dark wash ankle length jean with no distressing, and they have a good amount of stretch and a raw hem. I HIGHLY recommend them. They fit me great, hold me in (in all the right places), and still manage to be insanely comfortable.
They are a huge confidence booster because you will look and feel great in them.
Here they are again…
And a different pair from Wit and Wisdom. These are a little lighter wash and have a bit of distressing.
Y’all. This one shocked me.
It was number two last year, and this year it moved up to #1.
And it’s not even something that you wear.
WHAT? HOW CAN THIS BE?
DRUM ROLL PLEASE.
It’s the famous throw blanket!!!
I bought ONE OF THESE for my family in July during the anniversary sale a couple of years ago, and we are now all obsessed. They make perfect gifts and come in many colors! And they are on sale right now! The fact that y’all were buying multiples really helped catapult it towards the top of the list. Click HERE to see where I first showed it (it’s a super cute picture of the kid) and hear what he declared about the blanket. #blasphemy
So, now I’m interested in what y’all think. Please sound off in the comments! If you have one of these items, please leave your thoughts! If you have several of these items, please tell me HOW MANY you have and/or name your items.
I would also be interested in knowing if you have a different STMT favorite from this year that didn’t make the list. If you do, please tell us what that item is in the comments.
END OF YEAR GIVEAWAY:
And here’s the fun part…each comment will be an entry into a fun End of The Year Giveaway! I’m not sure what the prizes will be just yet, but 3 commenters from today’s post will be chosen at random, and the winners (and the prizes) will be announced next week.
THANK Y’ALL FOR AN AMAZING YEAR. 2019 was AWESOME, and I’m ready to make 2020 even better! Love you, ladies!
