It’s time y’all! Time for another edition of READER QUESTIONS!!! The last post in this series was way back in December, and since questions continue to come in every single day, I figured it was time to go ahead and roll out the 6th Edition! I’m thinking the 7th edition might be just around the corner as well. 🙂
Here’s a little background on the READER QUESTIONS series…
I imagine that for every question I receive from one of you ladies, there’s at least another 25 or so of you that probably have the exact same question…so I’m hoping this post will be valuable to all of you!
(Disclaimer: If you’ve e-mailed me recently and haven’t received a response, I’m working on it! The sheer number of e-mails often overwhelm me, and it takes me a little bit of time to work through them. Thank you for your patience!)
Let’s get started!
Today’s post is sponsored by Nordstrom, and several questions in today’s post are about items that I’ve talked about in the past. This is often a theme of many questions I get because y’all need help finding something I’ve already talked about, or you need additional information on something I’ve already posted.

READER QUESTION #1: Hi Sheaffer! I need a great chambray shirt, and I was hoping you could help point me in the right direction. I had one I loved from GAP that was like 8 years old, and now it’s just too ratty to wear. A chambray shirt is always a staple in my spring wardrobe, so I need to find one quick! What’s your favorite? Blessings, Caroline
Hi, Caroline! First of all, I totally agree with you that a great chambray shirt is a perfect wardrobe staple. I had one that I absolutely loved too (from J Crew Factory), but it’s pretty worn out now as well. But every single time I find a new chambray shirt pop up somewhere, I typically order it…and I’m typically disappointed. There’s always something not quite right…..too short…too stiff….pockets on front too big…etc… I typically order several every season trying to find a great one, because I always have readers looking for one!
Well, I ordered this one a couple of weeks ago, and it’s a keeper! I tried to post it the very second it arrived, but it looked like it was already sold out. I was happy to see that it popped back up IN STOCK late last week!
So, here it is! I really like the way chambray pairs with grey jeans, but I love wearing it with white jeans the most (so stay tuned for that)!
The wash of this chambray was just what I was looking for, and the fact that it is soft and not at all stiff is another plus. I’m guessing it will just get better and better with time as well. I sized up to a medium, but I almost always size up in button up shirts..so maybe I should say it’s true to size?
As far as the converse go, I’m true to size in shoreline converse. And I love them so much more than my regular converse. They are so easy to slip on and off, they don’t make my feet look long like regular converse, and they are more comfortable!

READER QUESTION #2: Happy Saturday, Sheaffer! I have a weird question for you. I see people wearing denim pretty much head to toe on Pinterest, but I don’t know if I can pull it off. Do you ever do it? – Maddie
Hi, Maddie! This question isn’t weird at all. In fact, it’s a question I get pretty frequently! I answered a similar question back on Reader Questions Post #4! I showed how to do denim on denim with a denim jacket, so click HERE if you want to see that.
My general rule that works for me is that I like to wear a lighter denim on top and a darker denim on the bottom. I’m not sure why that works for me, but it does.
When looking at the picture below, I typically would go for a bit darker denim on the bottom to offer more of a contrast, but I had these jeans on already, so I thought I would try them with the top. Again, not as much of a contrast as I would generally try to create, but I still liked the overall look!

READER QUESTION #3: Hi, Schaefer! I love your camo sneakers. Scratch that. I love your camo sneakers on YOU, I’m just not sure that they are ME. I want them to be, I just don’t know. Can you show me some more ways to wear them? Alison
Hi, Alison! Your question cracked me up, mainly because I felt the same way when I first saw them! I loved them, I just wasn’t sure if I was cool enough to pull them off. Well, here is what I found: they make me cooler. 😉
The first time I wore them (see that outfit HERE), I went the easy route with a grey pullover and jeans.
Last week I wore them with our favorite oatmeal pullover, but I made the outfit a bit more interesting by adding in the leopard belt! While wearing this outfit, I took some video of the sneakers on me as well. I’ll post that video sometime today on my instastories!
SIZING TIPS FOR SNEAKERS: The site says to order up because they run small, but I found the opposite to be true (along with other reviewers). I suggest sizing down a 1/2 size!

And here’s another more Spring-y look with the camo sneaks! This outfit contains many of my Spring and Summer essentials: the tee, the jacket, and the white jeans. I’m wearing a medium in the tee, a medium in the jacket, and a 27 in the jeans.

READER QUESTION #4: Sheaffer, you have “told me to do” way more things than I’d like to admit. Now I need you to tell me what to make sure I have in my closet for Spring. We’re having warm days here and there where I live, and I don’t feel like I’m prepared yet with what to wear. Tell me what to do, and I’ll do it. Haha! Much love, Britt
Hi, Britt! You are too funny! You’re question made me think about all of the things I already have that are my favorite Spring pieces, and it’s enough to make a whole post…so I will start working on a post devoted to my favorite Spring Essentials! But for now, I will tell you that this tee has been one of my spring and summer essentials for the last several years. In fact, you already saw it above with the white jeans, denim jacket, and camo sneakers!
I size up and wear a medium in the tee to make it a loose fit. I don’t like my tees clingy at all.

Click HERE for all of their solids and stripes choices. There are tons of colors to choose from, the collage below only shows some of them! I have the black and white stripe, the black, the blush, the grey, a red (not shown), an olive (not shown), and I recently added the red and white stripe.
And while we are talking Spring Essentials, it is my civic duty as a fashion blogger to introduce y’all to the wedges I got last week. I’ll have outfits with them very soon, but I’m soooo scared they are going to sell out, so I wanted to share with y’all today!
They are high, but seem very comfortable and are easy to walk in! I’ve only worn them around the house so far, so please comment if you have actual knowledge of their comfort level (for longer periods of time). I love the color and how the heel and wedge are wrapped with tightly braided jute.

READER QUESTION #5: What socks do you wear with your booties?
This is a question that I’m probably asked at least once a week. Y’all are always wanting to know what socks I wear with booties, converse, and sneakers. Well, a lot of my booties don’t allow me to wear a sock because the cut outs are too low or they have perforations all over them that would make the socks show through. But with shoreline converse and sneakers I wear THESE. They are absolutely the best!
These socks are made by Zella, so the intention is to wear them with running shoes and such while working out. I do wear them when working out, but as mentioned before, I also wear them with my shoreline converse and certain booties. They have a very snug fit, a really low profile (so they don’t show with most shoes), and they have rubber on the heels which keeps them from slipping. I don’t know about you, but nothing makes me more crazy then when my sock starts slipping and gets all bunched up in my shoe!
I thought I would show a picture of them on my feet so you can see what the coverage is like. Click HERE for these socks.

READER QUESTION #6: I love your reader questions series, and I would like to make a request! Please start to show us more of your home. Every time you give us a little peek, I love what I see, and it just makes me want to see more! Amber
You’re too sweet, Amber! Thanks so much for the compliments about my house! I always intend to show more of the house, but every time I start to take pictures to show it, I realize there are things I want to tweak before I share. I know houses aren’t ever truly complete, so maybe I will start showing more bits and pieces here and there…even if the space doesn’t feel exactly how I want it to.
I did photograph my guest bedroom last year, so you can click HERE if you’d like to take a look! It is definitely one of my favorite spaces in our home.

READER QUESTION #7: Sheaffer – I have a wedding coming up at the end of March. I remember two different off the shoulder dresses you’ve posted before, but I don’t remember who made them or where to find them. HELP! I know that one was black, and I think the other one was blue. I would love it if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks for everything you do! Hannah
Hi, Hannah! I think I know the black one you are talking about, but it’s been sold out for awhile now. 🙁 You can click HERE to see if it’s the one you were thinking of. I’m crossing my fingers that they will bring it back this year because it’s awesome!
I found the blue one you were asking about, and it’s still available!!!
This off the shoulder number is a great little dress. It comes in 6 colors total, as well as in regular and petite! I fell in love with this cobalt blue and thought it paired so nicely with the electric pink. The shoulders stay off the shoulder (hooray!), and I like how the ruffle is substantial. I felt great in this dress and feel like it would be a really good dress to have in your closet for many different types of occasions, especially for wedding season.
For size reference, I’m wearing a Medium Petite, which is true to size for me in dresses. I’m almost 5’4″.
When I first posted it, everybody seemed to love it, and several already had it. One reader said this: Best dress ever!! Bought it in black and want it in every color. – Carrie M.
off the shoulder dress / BEST STRAPLESS BRA EVER / earrings / necklace / clutch c/o GiGi New York, but no longer available / nude patent heels
Here are most of the other colors available. I love the vibrant pink and coral, and the classic black is of course so chic.
And get this! When I posted me in the dress on facebook when I first purchased it, several readers posted pictures of themselves in the dress as well! One sweet reader named Natalie (Hi, Natalie!) posted a picture of her in the black dress on vacation! Can we say VA-VA-VOOM?!? Natalie! You look absolutely GORGEOUS! Thanks for taking the time to post the picture and for giving me permission to use it!
Natalie shared the following for size reference: I wear a size 12-14, after three kids, and am wearing a Large. The XL was too big on top for me.
Natalie, thank you so much for the picture and the sizing tips!
I also get plenty of e-mails from readers that are plus size that always appreciate when I include plus size options. Well, I saw this floral print dress online and really wish I could wear it! I love the shape of it and the vibrant colors.

That’s it for the questions today! Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post! FYI, I actually had an 8th question for today, but I ran out of steam at the end and am going to save it for Friday’s post! And the next READER QUESTIONS post will answer more personal questions, like about how Chris and I met and examples of what we’ve been eating on our healthy eating plan.
Now, go out and show Monday who’s boss. 😉

The beautiful collar necklace appears to be sold out. Do you have any other recommendations of where else might carry this or another similar one! It is awesome!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Margaret! The Gorjana brand has lots of different delicate necklaces like that! Check their website directly! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Lori H says
Love your blog! Please let us know if you ever find a chambray shirt that has a little stretch to it (ie not 100% cotton). I can size up to fit my busty chest, but I still feel like it is pulling/gapping. I am going to try the Madewell one you are recommending, though!
Sheaffer says
I definitely will, Lori! Thanks! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Shay Shull says

AWESOME! Thank you, Kristen!!!!!
Josie says
I got a few of those Madewell t-shirts maybe two years ago and they both got holes in them pretty quickly (I think from rubbing against the seam of my jeans??). Is the quality any better now? The colors and the cut are so cute but I wasn’t impressed with the quality the first time around.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Josie! I’ve had a couple of other readers say this, but I’ve had some of mine for about 3 years and haven’t had any trouble! I’m not sure if the new tees are made any differently than the old tees, so I can’t answer your question. So sorry! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kristine says
Hi Josie!! I have always had the same problem with all brands of T-Shirts. I always wear a cami under my shirts (I like the ones from Nordstrom BP for this purpose). That way if I get any holes it’s on the cami and not my tee.

Laurie says
Thank ya, thank ya, thank ya from a plus sized clothes horse! Hard to find youthful and cute in those sizes out there. Thanks for hunting it down. Love your house posts!
Mary says
I love the look of a scarf used as a belt with jeans and knotted in the front. Do you ever wear this and if so, where can I buy those types of scarves? Do you have a picture posted on your blog?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Mary! Sounds cute, but I’ve never done it. Sorry I”m not more help! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kellylane says
I just wore the hot pink off the shoulder dress for my engagement pictures. I thought the color was perfect.
