A Great Dress for All Occasions

I’ve been receiving a lot of reader requests lately to talk about summer dresses.  Because of this, I’ve been ordering dresses here and there to find some that I like that I could then share with you.   So when Nordstrom reached out and asked me to talk about spring and summer trends, I decided I was going to do a dress post!  I thought it would be fun to share a handful of dresses with y’all for all different sorts of occasions.  Well, things didn’t go exactly as planned.  I ordered a lot of dress, but I didn’t really find any that I was loving.

Until I found THIS DRESS.

I don’t have a lot of dresses to share with y’all today, but I’ve got one amazing dress.  And depending on how it’s styled (it can be dressed up or down), it can be worn to many different types of occasions!  So, it’s one dress, but it will meet a lot of different needs.  And get this.  It’s UNDER $70.  #whoah

Back to the dress…This fabulous dress comes in 9 other GORGEOUS colors (in addition to the black that I’m showing you today).  I really like the denim and the pink smoke (it’s a very soft blush color), and any of the bright colors would be perfect for a beach vacation!  It even comes in a dark “denim”.

 

Sizing Tip:  This dress runs VERY large.  I’m almost 5’4″, and I’m wearing an XS Petite.  However, the XXS Petite actually fits me a bit better, it just wasn’t available at the time in black.  Y’all, I think we all know that I’m not an XXS Petite, so you definitely need to size down.  In fact, I would suggest sizing down 2 full sizes.

So far, I’ve personally styled it two different ways. This first way is a bit more casual with cork wedges, Kendra Scott earrings, and a clutch.  I would wear it styled this way to a casual afternoon wedding, a girl’s night out, a date night, etc.  I just love it!  It’s as comfy as you can get, and it’s thick enough that you don’t need a slip.  And here’s the absolute best part about the dress: you LEGIT feel like you are just wearing an oversized t-shirt.  I’m telling you, you could drink ALL THE MARGARITAS and eat ALL THE TACOS in this baby without any sort of trouble.

For the second look, I wanted to go a bit dressier.  I styled it with heels, fancy earrings, and a leopard clutch.  #meow   I liked the pop of color in the shoes and the fun pattern in the clutch…however, if you wanted it to be even fancier, you could wear a pair of strappy and sexy black heels, sparkly earrings, and a fabulous clutch with some bling.

Ladies.  Get this clutch. I’ve wanted this designer clutch for years, but could never justify the price tag.  This one is so awesome I don’t even want the splurge version anymore.

These heels deserve a close up.  They are 3/4 ” high and a really vibrant hot pink.  You can see they cross and tie in the back.  They are different (totally sexy!), and I love them.  And yes, they are comfy!  And the pink ones are 20% OFF!

Two more thing before you go….

This navy eyelet top was very popular last week! So many of you loved it, and I received several questions about it. I answered them on facebook last week, but I thought the answers needed to be on the blog too.

Q: Does it stay put off the shoulder?
A: YES! Now, if you raise your arms all the way above your head, it doesn’t. However, it does stay put with regular movements.  It doesn’t slip down at all like some off the shoulder tops do.

I LOVE IT! I feel like the band at the top is perfect so that if you raise your arms it sits right back in place, no tugging to pull your shoulders out. No matter how often I give my strapless bra recommendation, I continue to get tons of reader questions for a great strapless bra.  Hey, I GET IT.  Strapless bras are generally of the devil.  But not THIS one.  Nope.  It’s awesome.  How awesome?  Well, when I was getting ready for church yesterday, I wore it EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T NEED TO WEAR A STRAPLESS BRA.  Yep, it’s that good.  It’s the first one I saw (need to do laundry in a bad way over here)….and since it’s actually comfy and I never have to tug on it….I grabbed it and put it on.  And get this, I never once even thought about the fact that I was wearing a strapless bra until I took it off LAST NIGHT.  Now, that’s a rousing endorsement.  It’s not cheap, but it’s worth every dang penny.  I’m telling you, it will change your views on strapless bras.
