Did you see Part 1 of my Reader Questions this past Friday? It was a good one, y’all! I showed before and after pics of my Invisalign progress thus far, I gave specifics on how I spray tan (which involves the very necessary step of holding the boobs up), I gave my thoughts on Birkenstocks, told y’all about my light bulb moment with kimonos, and I even addressed a reader who said my pose/pictures are not flattering. We covered all the bases, y’all!
Well, today is Part 2!
*******************************************************
I get a fair number of requests from readers looking for items that I’ve previously talked about that they are looking for and cannot find at a particular moment. The most frequent repeat questions I get are about my favorite undies and bras.
You can find my favorite bras HERE and HERE, favorite strapless bra HERE, favorite undies HERE, favorite Soma undies HERE (buy 3, get 2 free right now!), new favorite Amazon undies HERE, and favorite no show socks HERE.
Lately, I’ve also had a lot of questions about these bracelets……..
They are from Amazon and UNDER $14!” And they are So. Flipping. Cute.
multicolor bracelet (“vegan chakra” women’s size) / solid bracelet
Also, TONS of questions lately about the caftans I’ve recently featured. I showed one in April and one in May, and I’ve had several readers ask which one I like better.
I love both of them, so I thought I would do a side by side and highlight the differences.
The one on the left is quite a bit longer (so it will be wonderful for you taller ladies), but it is still incredibly chic and still looks much more expensive than it is. It’s ONLY $22.99! The pink fringe earrings are just under $6. The fringe isn’t perfect, but I think they are a great deal for the price, and I love the little turquoise and navy accents at the top.
The one on the right fits my frame better, so I guess it actually wins as my favorite. I love the colors and the border.
Both caftans are on the same link, along with like 20 other cover ups, so I’m going to tell you where you can find them on the link (and hope they don’t move them)! The blue and white caftan is 2nd row from top, 2nd from the left and officially called “blue print 2”. The orange and blue caftan is 2nd row from bottom, 4th from the left, and officially called “orange blue”.

How long does it take you to write a post? Do you ever get afraid you’ll run out of stuff to talk about?- Michelle
Hey, Michelle! Great questions, I’ll answer both!
QUESTION 1: How long it takes to write a post of course varies greatly from post to post, but the process usually starts wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy before the writing starts.
The planning portion for some posts takes place as many as 3-4 weeks out from the publish date. There’s brainstorming for the theme of the post, often times shopping is involved (which usually takes place online), and there’s styling of outfits before a word is ever written or the pictures for the post are ever taken.
When I style outfits for a post, it usually happens several days before (but sometimes just the night before) I plan on taking pictures. My hair is usually in a pony, I usually don’t have make up on, and my face often doesn’t appear in the pictures because it’s looking rough! Ha! I take these pictures so I can refer back to them when it’s time to pack up the outfits for the shoot. Click HERE to see how the below outfits looked when we took the official pictures.
After the pictures are taken, the favorites are chosen and edited, and then they are uploaded to the post. At that point, I usually go in and add all the links (which is quite a time consuming process), and then I go back and add all of my thoughts. And then I edit, edit, edit. And I still miss typos all the time. #ugh
And even with all the planning, things could very well change. I might have ordered a particular item (planning to build an entire post around it), and when it arrives, I might not like the item. Oops! Back to the drawing board! Or, I might find something new online that I love and think is going to sell out, so I’ll quickly throw together a post and move other scheduled posts around.
QUESTION 2: Do you ever get worried about running out of post ideas? In my first year of blogging, I often worried about running out of content. Now that I’m in my 6th year, I just trust that the ideas will come. New seasons always bring new clothes to talk about, and there are always new trends popping up.

I have received no less than 50 messages from readers who are in love with these glasses and can’t believe how well they work.
Sadly, I’m having issues with mine. I was a 100% believer at first….and I guess I still am, actually. But when I wear them a long time, I find that they give me a headache. Here’s the deal though..I think they are doing their job and reducing headaches and eye strain that are resulting from exposure to a computer screen. HOWEVER, I have a very large melon, and I think they are causing headaches for me just because they feel a bit tight after awhile.
I think if you have an average size noggin’, you’ll be fine! Actually, I think you’ll be floored at how well they work, just like everybody else seems to be!

Great questions…
As far as wide leg pants for taller girls, I think Paige jeans are the way to go. Now, they are designer denim, so you’ll be paying a designer price, but I have a couple of tall friends that swear by the brand. If you’re a tall girl with a more economical recommendation, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments!
Now, let’s talk bags. Since even before my first post with the bag straps went live, I’ve been looking for affordable bag options for y’all that were compatible with the straps. I’ve now ordered 6 bags in my quest, and 5 out of the 6 haven’t worked. Three of them were just plain ugly and looked really cheep (which they were). Two of them were cute enough, but I was unable to detach the other straps on them and so there were just too many dang straps hanging everywhere.
I did find this one, and it’s definitely the best I’ve found thus far. I wish it was cognac, but I do like the little wooden ring handle. It’s a relatively inexpensive bag, and I think it looks relatively inexpensive. But again, it’s definitely the best of what I’ve tried thus far. Hopefully I’ll have more options for you later! (If you remember, the first post featured both my LV and this Madewell tote.)
You can still use the code STMTbagstrap to get the straps for 30% OFF. Click HERE to see all 5 straps highlighted in several different outfits.
I’m wearing a small in the tee and love the twist front design.
twist front tee / earrings / bag straps / bag / bracelet / rose gold slide sandals (under $15!)
And here’s another outfit with the camo strap! I broke out my high waisted jeans again, and I LOVE THIS TEE. It’s loose and boxy, but I love the overall fit and style. I’m wearing my regular small.

I loved the gingham shirt you showed a couple of weeks ago, but you had it tied up at the waist. I wouldn’t do this, so I was hoping you could show it without the knot. – Leslie
Hi, Leslie! Excellent request! I thought the top was so cute tied at the waist (which I wouldn’t normally do either), but of course I should have shown it not tied too! (You can click HERE if you want to see the post where I tied it at my waist!)
The shirt runs quite oversized, and I noticed it more when wearing it like like I am below (and not tied). I’m wearing a small, but I would consider sizing down for sure if you aren’t going to knot it at your waist. It looks so fresh and summery with white denim! (There was a reader request to show some outfits both styled and not styled, so I’m hoping to do that more often. The styled outfit is on the right!)
gingham camp shirt (plus size gingham shirt) / rainbow tassel necklace / rainbow bracelet / white frayed hem denim shorts / reversible cognac tote / cognac sandals
Here’s the same shirt with jeans with a 1/2 tuck on the left and worn out on the right so you can see that’s it’s definitely a bit longer length than most shirts.

Before I address this topic, I want to state that I 100% understand your perspective and where you are coming from. I totally “get it” that sponsored content often times calls you to question if I really love an item or if I’m highlighting that item only because it’s a sponsored post.
I thoroughly answered a very similar question in my blog comment section a couple of weeks ago, but of course I can’t find that response now to copy and paste here. I’m going to try my best to review the main points!
First and foremost, I feel very strongly about only posting things that I truly love. Now, sometimes I will post things (like the bag above), that I’m not in love with….but when I do that, I will definitely tell you that. Other times I might post things that I think will look good on others (ex. somebody taller or with a smaller chest), even though I don’t love it on myself. But I will notate that as well.
If I say I love something on the blog, please know that it’s because I love it (whether it’s sponsored or not). I have this theory that if I have a reader that buys 3 things as a result of the blog that they do not love, I very possibly might lose that person as a reader. And I never want to lose readers! The only way this blog thing works is if y’all trust me, so I work very hard to earn and keep that trust.
Also worth noting is the fact that I turn down a fair amount of posts that y’all obviously never know about since they never make it to the blog! But again, I totally understand the stigma regarding sponsored posts, and I hope y’all will continue to trust me….even if the post is sponsored!

I loved when you did this last month, so would you please share the TOP 5 READER FAVORITES every month? Lori
Yes, Lori! Thanks for reminding me about this! I loved it too, and so did lots of readers! I need to remember to do this every month!

Do you get dressed everyday? I’m always curious about people who work from home and wonder if they wear pajamas every day or if they actually get dressed. – Tabi
Hey, Tabi! Well, the answer is different for me each day. As I write this (it’s 12:20 in the afternoon), I’m wearing my night shirt from last night with one of Chris’s North Face pullovers. #suchfashion (Sidenote, my “favorite night shirt” is a dolman sleeve tunic tee I found on Amazon that is way too slouchy for my liking to wear as a regular tee, but I love it as a nightgown. Click HERE and scroll down to see me wearing a grey one. It’s incredibly soft and perfect for lounging)
I do find that I feel better and am more productive when I get dressed, but this isn’t what always happens. And even if I get dressed, on days that I don’t take pictures, my hair isn’t done and I don’t have a lick of make up on. I use writing days to definitely take a break from having to get ready. I snapped some mirror selfies last week to prove my point.
black top sold out / brunette hat / resin earrings / camo strap / shorts from last year / Birkenstock type sandals
I love my little daisy top! It’s really cute when the entire outfit is put together, but it made feel cute on this day where make up and hair brushing didn’t happen. I’m wearing a small. This blue and white version of the top is cute too and it’s ON SALE!
daisy top / rattan earrings / shorts from last year / slides
My jeans that feel like pajamas are often on my body on stay at home days where I might slide in an errand or two. And my super soft cardi from Amazon is always in constant rotation. I also wear it with denim shorts, and I’ve even found myself reaching for it when I have pajamas on (if my blardigan isn’t nearby)

This is probably a silly question…but when you take all of your pictures against those brown boards, where is that? – Lilly
Hey, Lilly! I’ve actually received this question several times before, so you aren’t the only one that’s wondered this. Those brown boards are just our wooden garage door. I’m sure now it’s obvious that it’s a garage door!
You’ve seen everything in this picture before, except for the top. I love the Madewell butterfly tops and have quite the collection from over the years. They are very lightweight and very forgiving! I’m wearing my regular small.

I’m interested in the MoroccanOil, but I’m worried about build up. Does it build up in your hair? – Dana
I was worried about this too, Dana! I hadn’t noticed any build up at all, but was still a little worried, so I asked my hairdresser about it at my last appointment (Shout Out, Amanda!). She agreed that it’s an incredible product and shared that she doesn’t notice any build up on client’s hair!
(You can click HERE for the original post if you missed the Sephora Haul and want to see ALL THE THINGS.)
I apply a little bit on my damp hair before running my round brush through it while drying it. And then I typically apply a small amount again after my hair is dry and curled. The main benefits I’ve noticed is that it tames flyaways and BOOSTS THE SHINE LIKE CRAZY. My hair is silkier, softer, and more manageable. It’s seriously SO SOFT and SO SHINY.

I get lots of direct messages on instagram about my wedding rings when I do instatories (because I talk with my hands so people always notice my ring), and y’all might be surprised to learn that although my ring is custom, all of my stacking bands are from Nordstrom!
After I got a new ring a couple of years ago (it was for 15 years…just about a year late), we decided my old wedding band didn’t go with the new ring. Luckily, I had 2 Bony Levy stacking rings already at that point, and they looked beautiful stacked with the ring. My rings all had a very delicate and sort of vintage look to them, and I liked how none of the rings in the stack were matchy matchy. So, two stacking bands that I was originally wearing on my right hand were given a promotion to wedding bands!
I was pleased with the look, but I started stalking the Nordstrom site for ring sales because I wanted to either get a new right hand band, or I wanted to move the original bands back to my right hand and get a new stacking band for my wedding set.
Now, here’s the great thing about Bony Levy rings…….rings pop up on sale super frequently. But here’s the deal, when they do, you have to act SUPER FAST, because there is usually only 1 or 2 available.
And listen, I don’t use the word “stalking” lightly. As soon as I would get on the computer each day, I would type “Bony Levy ring sale” into the search bar. Some days there are none, but other days there are a small handful of rings that are anywhere from 40-60% OFF!
Two of my Bony Levy rings I have are no longer in stock, but I do have this simple band and this one from Monica Vinader in the gold/diamond combo. If you love the idea of a stack too, be patient, and stalk the site for sales! I was able to score 1 of my rings for 40% OFF and 2 for 60% OFF! Nordstrom Rack often has a great selection as well. Since I’ve scored several over the years, I now find myself playing around with my stack. I’ll be sure to hop on instastories either today or tomorrow to show you some of my favorite stack combos!

I’ve been getting a good number of requests lately for budget friendly finds. Some of you have named retailers you want to see (everybody seems to be totally digging the Amazon posts), but others have just said the dollar amount that they would like me stay under. I want y’all to sound off on this to help me plan future content. Please leave requests for specific retailers in the comments! Even if it’s retailers you’ve seem me feature before, but you just want to see more of!

That’s it for today, Ladies! See you back here on Wednesday!
Laila says
Old Navy, Target, Walmart and please keep Amazon going strong!
Megab says
I’m all for the budget finds, but get annoyed when I see the same “find” on all the people I follow. It’s like they send out stuff to all of the bloggers and they all post it. Doesn’t seem original to me then.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Meg! If you see the same things on bloggers, it’s probably not because the brand sent the item out. That actually rarely happens. But we do all shop the same stores, so cross over is bound to happen. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Erika Slaughter says
Love love love these posts! I have that Madewell top-same print but in the button up style. #greatminds
Catherine Mauline says
Yes, I would love to see Old Navy too. Target is hit or miss for me, but I would love to see some hits!
Gena Justice says
Have you ever considered featuring Athleta clothing? I wear a lot of their leisure joggers and tops when I am sightseeing or attending my son’s wrestling tournaments. I also like their skirts for summer. If you haven’t tried their items I highly recommend it. Since they are owned by The Gap maybe it could be a sponsored post.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Gena! Thanks for the recommendation! I don’t wear Athleta, but my friend Shay does and LOVES them! I know she has a post coming up, but I might place a small order too! xoxo
Shay Shull says
I just read every.single.word. 😉
Patty says
Would love to see some Loft outfits!

I purchased the caftan with the border about a month ago, and love it. I live in Michigan however, so have not had an opportunity to wear it yet! I will say I was surprised that the material had a lot of static and am curious whether or not you have noticed it being clingy, etc.? I am hoping that it won’t end up being an issue, but wondered what your experience has been when you have worn yours.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kim! I haven’t noticed any static on mine?!? Maybe whatever yours was packaged in was different and caused the static? Hope it gets better!
Kimberly A Clayton says
I have that striped t-shirt top and girls who are long waisted beware–it is pretty short on me. I do love the colors and stripes though.
Cherie says
I also have a large head and sometimes I buy men’s reading glasses instead of women’s so you might try that. Nobody has time for a headache!
Sheaffer says
Hey, Cherie! That’s a great idea! I’ll remember that for when I need readers…bc I’m sure I eventually will! 🙂
Addison says
I love your Reader Questions posts! As a tall girl, I always go for Levi’s jeans… they have sizing like men’s (you pick the waist circumference and the length!) so they feel custom. Couldn’t recommend them enough!
Sheaffer says
Thanks for the tip, Addison! xoxo
kenna says
I don’t know if this is allowed, however I have the below purse from target and added a multi-colored guitar strap to it. I bet the rainbow strap would be fun with the inside of the purse also!

Jan says
So – I guess I’m the odd girl out but I don’t like the Amazon posts and don’t read them. With so many retail businesses struggling to stay alive I shop local as much as possible and if I do shop online I shop the tried and true stores.
Keisha Dawson says
I love these posts! I’m 5’10” and pants are always a struggle, because the bloggers I follow are 5’7″ or shorter. I have found that the tall jeans from American Eagle are a great option, and their skinny jeans feel like pajama pants.
LibbyB says
I really enjoy your Loft posts, you do super cute things with their shorts! I wonder if there is value in a post on Old Navy or the Gap, I honestly shop very rarely anywhere other than what I see on your posts these days?
Lisa G. says
I like the Nordstrom and Loft posts the best. Also love what you post from Anthropologie.
Jennifer says
Sheaffer, I just love your blog. You have helped me up my fashion game SO much. I would love to see some fair trade clothes- perhaps Fair Indigo or Elegantees.
Thanks!
Dianna says
I would love to see Old Navy and Kohl’s!
Gretchen says
I love all your posts and appreciate all the time you put into each post. I shop at Loft, Target, Old Navy and JCPENNEY ( I’ve been shopping at JCP before it was “cool”…LOL). I’ve also discovered Accessory Concierge through you and love their stuff! Keep up the great work!!
Lauren West says
I just fan-girled hard when I saw my question about blue light glasses in your post! Thank you for addressing them! I am an SLP and stare at my computer up to 3 hours a day between writing reports and notes and I NEED some kind of relief! Also would love to see more Wal-Mart, Target, and Old Navy finds! Especially jean shorts that are decently priced and don’t ride up in booty. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Amazon posts! I look forward to them the whole month!
Mel H says
I have to pile on! I shop a ton at Target, Old Navy, Amazon and Kohls. All are my go to places. We don’t have Nordstrom close by, but I do shop at Macy’s and Penney’s as well. I am a frugal shopper, so i tend to keep my prices below the $100 mark for most every item, with jeans an exception. When you’re 5-10 you can’t be picky on jeans
Laurie S says
Sheaffer – love the readers’ questions posts! Appreciate all the detail and time that goes into your work… ESPECIALLY your taking the time to check for spelling/typos. I cringe when I see “it’s vs its” or “verses vs versus”… all valid words, just wrong ones in wrong applications. Look forward to your next posts!
Sharon says
Haha sister grammar nerd here and I also cringe when I see it’s used as a possessive! ??
Kelly Lane Nation says
I purchased a few of your suggestions from Amazon…I bought the sunglasses, joggers, and the romper. So…here’s my review. First, everyone needs those joggers. They are so soft and comfy! Second, I don’t like the glare from the back side of the sunglasses. Not sure if anyone else mentioned that but they also give a weird glare when looking at my iPhone too. They look great and for the price, I’m gonna keep them. Now for the romper, I ordered what I believed to be a true size…(large). When the romper arrived, (which took a while) there was NO way it was a real, true large. However, the vendor was so accommodating. They insisted I keep the large and sent me a XL for no charge.
Not gonna lie…I have two of your Amazon dress recommendations in my chart now but I haven’t pulled the trigger. 🙂
Kelly Lane Nation says
*chart should be CART 😉
Vicky T says
Love your posts on your Amazon and Nordstrom finds because they have free shipping and returns. I would love more cute tops and outerwear that are machine washable and tumble dry. I don’t have to the time or space to do hand wash or lay flat items.
Elizabeth S says
I’m sure I’m the odd man out, but I have decided I hate the Amazon posts. ? I love a good value, but every time I order from there, it’s a pain to return if it doesn’t fit and so much seems poor quality. I decided I’m not ordering any more clothing from Amazon. My favorite bargain sites are Target and J.Crew Factory.
Kimberly A Clayton says
I clicked to look at that t-shirt you use as a night shirt and noticed in the same post that you had a cross body form Amazon that looks like it might work with the bag strap
https://www.amazon.com/Handbags-Designer-Ladies-Bucket-Leather/dp/B0756VRRZW?tag=sheaffertoldmeto-20&ascsubtag=4006986802
It’s also on a lightning deal right now at Amazon so I scored the small size it for under $30.
Dianna says
A friendly PT recommendation for your computer headaches is to check how you are sitting while doing your computer work. If you are using your laptop for hours at a time it might be that you are hunched over as well. Posture can contribute to headaches along with the blue light. Hope that’s helpful!
Sheaffer says
Totally helpful! Thank you, Dianna!!!
Liz ottavelli says
I would like more Loft and madewell posts in addition to the Nordstrom ones. And I just discovered Athleta so that would be great too. Thank you!
Val says
I have a question (really a clarification) about the top 5 reader favorites…are they the favorites based on comments in the comments section or based on blog readers that have actually bought and loved them and reported back to you? Thanks 🙂
Sheaffer says
Hi, Val! I am able to see what readers purchase. I’m not able to see names or anything personal like that, but I can see numbers. Like I can know that 120 people purchased something or 40 people purchased something. So the Top 5 items are based on purchases made. Sheaffer 🙂
cassie // hi sugarplum says
So many darling looks and I love this Q and A, but the thing that stands out to me most is HOW CUTE YOU ARE WITH THE SCARF IN YOUR HAIR!!!
Jennifer says
I would love to see some J Crew. I love to shop the sale items because there are often additional 30-60% off coupon codes. Last year I purchased swim wear from Athleta that I love and am super interested in their dresses, but they’re kind pricey and even their sale section isn’t much of a discount. I like Nordstrom and Loft. I’ve gotten such great deals on sale items at J Crew, Anthropologie, Loft, etc that I don’t really bother shopping for cheaper clothing since if I wait I can get higher quality brands for a similar price. I would like to see some Old Navy though. I don’t shop there much – I like it more for my kids than myself, but I’d be interested in seeing your finds.
Natalie says
Thanks for all the positivity you put out!! I am always shocked at the criticism and just wanted to say keep doing what you are doing! 😉 I wouldn’t have any clothes if it weren’t for you (seriously!) and you have made me feel confident again with all your great recommendations (specifically this season from Nordstrom and Amazon)!!
Sheaffer says
Thank YOU Natalie for reading and for your kind words! I know I can’t please everybody all the time (and I don’t mind getting constructive feedback from readers that isn’t all rainbows and roses, as long as it’s respectful!), but it sure is nice to hear from readers that are happy with the content! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Shannon says
Can you do a link-up one day for wedding rings? Would love to see others’ rings and hear the stories behind them!
Sheaffer says
Ooooooh! That’s a fun idea, Shannon!
Narci says
That camo strap is so cute! I really love it!
Dawn says
I personally LOVE Nordstrom. I don’t live near one so I rely on your recommendations and take advantage of their free shipping & returns. I would like to see Old Navy, GAP, Athleta, Loft, Evereve, and JCrew.
I do NOT want to see Walmart. I bought a few things there on another bloggers recommendations and after a few wears it fell apart. I hate disposable clothing and I do not think your die hard readers are interested in items lacking quality. That being said your budget is larger than mine. It might be interesting to ask your readers to share their monthly clothing budget? Mine is $300 for my whole family (husband and 8 year old daughter. Husband hates fashion so that works out for me haha!). I sell my unwanted clothes on Poshmark to make extra $ since I like quality clothing.
Meredith says
I’ve had the opposite experience of Dawn. I love the Amazon posts! I’ve now ordered 6 things and I loved 5 (the shorts romper, the low wedges, a cover up, the joggers, and the red dress with the ruffle sleeves) and I’ve been so surprised at how much I love each of the pieces. I’d never ordered off of Amazon before, so I actually wasn’t expecting much. The item I had to return was due to sizing issues, but the return was really easy.
Andrea says
I personally don’t buy clothing from Amazon or Walmart so I just bypass those posts. Any other store is great and fulfills my shopaholic needs! My favorites are when you highlight (relatively) smaller shops and give us deals on those like Accessory Concierge. I don’t like wearing what everyone else/every instagrammer is wearing so anything unique you find is appreciated! Also would love to see your sister do work wear from White House Bksck Market although they may be too high of a price point unless there’s a good sale. Thank you for soliciting our input!
Angela Sharbono says
I love all your posts and I am quite happy with the retailers that you feature. I have been very curious about Sole Society and would love to see some posts dedicated to them. I also have been intrigued by the clothing at Red Dress. Keep doing what you are doing! I look forward to your posts each week!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Angela! I’ve highlighted several Sole Society items over the years and have always been pleased with the quality and style! And yes to Red Dress. I think I will place an order today! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Brenda says
Loft Outlet, Banana Republic Outlet and Target and l-o-v-e the Amazon posts! Thanks, Sheaffer!
Ann Marie Tennison says
I must have those MUST have wedges!!
Sheaffer says
Ann Marie. GET. THE. WEDGES. 🙂 xoxo
Amy says
I’ve been at three pool parties recently where women ages 37-45 (of varied sizes) were talking about how much they love American Eagle, specifically the bathing suits and jeans. I was floored — I thought it was for 16yos. If you’re in the mall, duck in and check it out for us…
Sheaffer says
Interesting! I’ll check it out, Amy! Thanks for the tip! xoxo
Cary says
You’re so cute Sheaffer! I just received my Madewell striped butterfly top and can’t wait to wear it! Thanks for showcasing it! Oh and it’s on sale right now too!
I love the Nordstrom, LOFT, and Madewell posts. I’d like to see more Anthropologie and some from Evereve, it’s becoming one of my new favorites. Like someone else mentioned, I do tend to wait for things to go on sale and then you’re getting higher quality items for a better price.
Keep up the cute works! 🙂
