up a regular ol’ outfit with some fun jewelry.
Earlier this year (in February actually), I was searching Pinterest for inspiration for an upcoming post, and I kept on seeing fancy necklaces that were paired with plain tees.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I saw the combination, I loved it!
The looks were a little bit unexpected at first, but several pictures in, I totally “got” it and LOVED it. All the outfits just looked so polished (even though they were super comfy)., and all the girls looked
put together without being too stuffy.
I was SOLD on this look.
I could hardly wait to start mixing plain with fancy!
Go ahead, I dare you.

So anyway, I decided to take the Plain and Fancy look and do it again for myself!
I’ve found some great options for you for both plain tees and sweatshirts AND fancy necklaces!
FIRST LET’S LOOK FOR THE PLAIN TOPS!
I looked at 3 of my current GO TO stores:
Nordstrom, Old Navy, and LOFT.
Plain graphic tee and sweatshirt options from Nordstrom:
LOFT sweatshirt options:
(I’ve had many readers e-mail me about this chambray sweatshirt singing it’s praises!)
Holiday Collection from BaubleBar!!!
All of these fancy pieces are super versatile and are a really easy way to add some flash and fun to your closet for not a whole lot of money!!
Thank you BaubleBar for sending them to me!
So…now that you’ve seen a plain t-shirt collage and a fancy necklace collage, let’s look at how to put them together. Basically, there are no rules!
that I put together for today’s post.
We’re going to start off with my favorite outfit:
using t-shirt “1” from above and necklace “3” from above.

I mean, tell me you don’t love this shirt!
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but I think a small might have been better. The shirt is unisex, so the arms aren’t fitted at all, and the medium gave me a lot of room.
You can find a shirt for all states, and they all have different little saying on them! I know I said it yesterday, but I think these would make amazing gifts! I absolutely love mine!
They also have them in hoodies HERE and even in baby onesies HERE!
I highlighted the state shirt as a Santa Alert yesterday, but in case you didn’t see yesterday’s post (since I don’t normally post on Tuesdays), here is some info about the shirt:
I think this next item could be a HUGE hit under the Christmas tree!
Check out these unisex baseball tees for each state HERE.
I can’t say enough about this tee, and I think it would make an EXCELLENT gift!
Here’s what the site has to say about the tee:
Okay, back to today’s post!
Here’s the Get The Look For Yourself Collage!
This necklace is stunning.
This is how I did the look earlier this year!
So, I have one more surprise!
In addition to the 20% OFF with the code PTMT20….
One lucky reader is going to win the entire HOLIDAY OPALINE COLLECTION!
That’s OVER $500 worth of baubles!
Keep them all for yourself…or divide them up for Christmas presents for all the ladies on your list!
So, I’m dying to know, have you been inspired to mix plain with fancy!?! Is this a look that you already do? If not, are you willing to try it? Sound off in the comments!
