Jen is friends with my friend Cassie (who is the one that introduced me to Jen’s blog).
When I started reading, I couldn’t believe the genius (yet SIMPLE!) ideas that Jen was always sharing with her readers.  I’m telling you, you HAVE to check her blog out!

Hello everyone!  

I am Jen and I share my quest  for a beautiful, functional home over at the blog I Heart Organizing.  In fact, you can bet that I spend more time organizing my closet, than actually rockin’ the pieces inside of my closet…

One of the very first things I see each morning when heading to my closet, are my live Pinterest boards.  To create the boards I used cork tiles covered in fabric, and pinned up a series of outfit print-outs I have found with the help of Pinterest.

I try and rotate the printed pictures by season, and when I update my wardrobe.  It is important to me to find outfits that contain items I already own, or allow me to create a great look by only adding an extra piece or two.  I have to say, without the help of smarties pulling together fantastic outfit ideas and sharing them on the interweb, I would be stuck in yoga pants and cozy sweaters.

Because I work from home, my look stays pretty basic and simple.  I have never been a flashy dresser, in fact, I typically save color for around the house and keep a lot of neutrals in my closet.  

I recently stumbled across this outfit and it fit my style to a T!

What I loved most is that I already owned quite a few of the essentials making up this outfit.  Here are the pieces that I used to pull together the look:

{top – similar, blazer, jeans, boots, necklace, earrings}
So simple and totally me.  
Navy has to be one of my most favorite wardrobe colors.  It goes with everything!

The three-strand necklace was a steel at $10 from H&M.  It is a piece I will be able to match with endless outfits.

However, I thought it would be fun to add a little splash of color.  I live in Wisconsin and it has been brrrr cold lately, so I can be found wearing a scarf almost daily. 

THIS one from Gap seemed to really complete the look.

I am so smitten with the neutral base this outfit offers for fall, winter and spring, which can change each time I wear it with the addition of a fun accessory.   And the days I am home with no plans to leave, swapping out the blazer for a cardigan does the trick and still feels pulled together.

Anyway, because I know that the great majority of you ladies prefer to shop from Nordstrom (no doubt because of their amazing return policy and customer service), I went ahead and put together an outfit like Jen’s with items ONLY from Nordstrom.

It is just so FRESH and SPRINGY!
I’m going to break down some of the above items because I think that they are all GREAT basics that could help us all start transitioning into Spring.

First up, the blazer HERE
Navy is a color that I don’t have nearly enough of in my closet, but I love how fresh it looks!
For long time readers, THIS SEEMS TO BE THE SAME BLAZER AS MY OATMEAL LINEN BLAZER FROM LAST YEAR that went out of stock before everybody could get it!
If it is sized like last year’s jacket, it runs on the small side.  My blazer is a medium.

  And I’m all of a sudden becoming obsessed with chunky stud earrings.
You know I highlighted THESE from Kendra Scott on Friday,
 but these Kate Spade ones that Jen had in her outfit are calling to me too!

 I think the colors are so great (these are just a fraction of them available), and I think they really pop!

I am really LOVING them both.  They both seem like great (and inexpensive!) pieces to start throwing in a little color to our new Spring outfits!

    I also read Jen's blog on the regular and love her ideas (and house tour!). Tacking up pinterest pictures in your closet is such a great idea (or tacking up pictures of our beloved Sheaffer and all her outfit inspirations)!!! Just put the scarf and necklace in cart and am considering the blazer too.

    Ok, update to my last comment 🙂 I ended up buying the scarf and necklace, but also added in the Kate Spade earrings in navy (although backordered) and the blazer but in camel. I went back and read your post from last spring about the oatmeal colorded blazer and loved the outfit with the white tee and dark jeans. Even though we have a snow day up here in the northeast it's never too early to plan for that spring weather right?!

    Hi Sheaffer,
    I just read how some of your readers have protested about the latest must have not being from Nordstrom. And I knew that I must speak up for your peeps who LOVE us some Anthropologie! I, too, adore Nordstrom. I mean, really, you just can't go wrong. But, sometimes it's nice to step outside the box. So thank you for your latest must have recommendation. I received mine last week and LOVE it! It's so soft, just the right length and very flattering. Can't wait to see what you recommend next!
