I couldn’t find the source for the little fella on the side, but I loved the picture, and I thought I would try to recreate our own version of the photo with my little fella.
All right.
Here we go.
Now it’s my little man’s turn to WORK IT.
STOP! IT!
I MEAN!
Are you dying?
Because I’m dying.
Pinterest Freaking Told Him To.
And then HE showed Pinterest who was boss.
Actually, Pinterest Told Me To, and then I told him to.
Whatever.
LOOK AT MY KID WORK THE CAMERA!
Nordstrom, call me! Let’s get this kid in some print ads! 😉
Have your people call my people.
(To be clear, I don’t have people. So by “my people”, I mean “me.) 🙂
I want to eat him with a spoon.
And listen.
I know he’s my kid.
So I know I’m completely and totally biased.
HOWEVER.
When I tell you he has the sweetest little heart in the whole entire world, I’m not kidding.
His favorite thing in the world to do is snuggle with me or his dad.
He tells us he loves us at least 10 times a day (and that’s a super conservative estimate), and he hands out unsolicited hugs and kisses like it’s his job.
And except for about the first 5 minutes he’s up every morning, he’s happy. Like he’s ALWAYS happy. And oh my goodness is he funny. He keeps us laughing all the time.
I want to freeze him.
I never want to forget his little voice.
Or the sweet little things he says (like the fact that he says “lasterday” instead of “yesterday”).
I mean, that’s kind of genius isn’t it?
And I want him to always fit into my lap just the way he does right now.
Okay, enough of my tribute to Carter, because believe me I could go on AND ON and on. 😉
Let’s get to his SUPER CUTE outfit and his SUPER CUTE shoes.
Everything is from Nordstrom.
Because you know what they say about the apple?
Well, they were right. It doesn’t fall far.
Skull shirt HERE
Comes in sizes 1 1/2 – 8 years.
I totally dig the skull, but if you don’t, click HERE to see a similar raglan shirt with a star.
If you do dig the skulls, click HERE for other Mini Boden skull pieces.

LOVE the cuffs and the cut of it…and the colors are awesome. It would be super cute buttoned up with jeans or a pair of khakis. But it’s also cute worn unbuttoned as an extra layer.
Shorts, similar HERE

These particular shoes only come in baby and toddler sizes, but click HERE for all kid’s converse.

And I knew I had to mention THESE shoes again.
I’ve received 4 different e-mails on them since my first post, all with readers singing my praises for talking about these shoes.
3 e-mails were from readers who bought them after I highlighted them and all loved them.
However, the e-mail that caught my attention was from a reader who has 3 kids who all already had them!
Sheaffer –
I’ve been reading your blog for almost a year now. I have 5 of your MUST HAVES and countless other items that you have recommended. Well, I felt so smart after reading your post today because I have 3 kids (6 year old girl, 4 year old girl, 2 year old boy) and they all have a pair of the Natives.
I feel like I’m a bit of a must have expert, and I want to go ahead and call these a MUST HAVE for kiddos. The easy on easy off is what makes them a must have in my book. With three kids, the fact that they can all get these on on their own makes them a must have in my house for sure.
They wear them to school, to the pool, to the beach, to the park, to play in the sand, and even to church!
You’ve done it again! Ha!
Charlotte
I also saw this review online that I thought was a great one.

This
is the second summer we have ordered these slip-on sneakers. The
comfort and cool sneaker style make them a winner for fast on and off
summer shoes! No laces or Velcro is a plus for little feet and the
ventilation holes keep them cool and not sweaty. We love that they don’t
fall off and are easy clean up. We ordered both the navy and black to
go with everything.
Thanks again to Nordstrom for sponsoring the kid’s shoe portion of this post!
It was such fun working with Carter on this, and I have to say, today’s post is one of my

Ahhhhh! He is just so sweet! I feel like you should have added that he was so sweet and happy to pose for those pictures even though all of his friends were just 30 feet away playing at the park. THAT really shows how sweet he is! (My kids would have been sobbing, "I want to go play too! Stop taking my picture!")
MJ says
What a cutie! Nordstrom definitely needs his smiley face on some giant ads!

Tara G. says
I have a neat little book clef My Quotable Kid that I bought on Amazon. The pages are preprinted with cute bubbles to record thedate and location/situation and the funny (or profound) things your kids say. I keep mine in the kitchen and have taken it on road trips. It's so fun to go back and remember those cute things that were said.
Amy Kleis says
Oooooo, he's sooooooo cute with clothes on….LOL!!! That is truly the 1st time I've seen him fully dressed! Most of you readers won't really know this inside joke, but he is just a cute as can be!

Shawnee says
He is the cutest thing ever!!! So makes me miss mine being that small! All they care about is athletic shorts and t-shirts!
Sarah says
oh my gosh he is too cute! And the fact that you could get him to wear what you wanted him to wear? Well that's a feat in itself. Currently my son is wearing clothes that he thinks his 7 month old sister will like. For example he's convinced she likes it when he wears clothes with drawstrings on them. Kids are so funny. Love that your son is a cuddler and a hugger. I hope they NEVER grow out of that phase!

He is SO CUTE!
So, those Sperry Espadrilles had me drooling too…until I tried them on. 🙁 They are so super narrow thru the middle of the foot that they were uncomfortable and had my normal width foot spilling over the side. I was so sad!
Dani {Adventures of a Pharm Girl} says
What a cutie! Thanks for sharing!

Are you kidding me with the over the shoulder pose?!?!?! so dang cute!!!! In fact, he looks so great I'm wondering if his outfit comes in MY size?! 😉
Chandra says
Oh my gosh! Carter is just the cutest! He needs to be on the blog A LOT MORE. Love this post and love the inspiration for dressing my little boy.
Gwen says
That kid is absolutely adorable. I'd totally dress my son like him but he's 19 now and me trying to dress him probably wouldn't go over so well.
My son, like yours, was a sweet kid who said I love you a lot and gave lots of hugs. I waited for that to stop as he got older and more cranky, but even now at 19 he tells me he loves me every day.
Chic Coastal Living says
Is your son adorable or what?!! I miss my boys at that age and when they used to love to snuggle with mama! Then they become teenagers and get girlfriends! If I could go back for one day and see their sweet little faces I would in a heartbeat!! Looks like you are enjoying every minute of him and by the way he is a cutie in those outfits! XO
Tiffany {A Touch of Grace} says
I mean. I just can't. He is so stinking cute. I love the over the shoulder cuff up photo. So cute and so funny. He does look like a happy guy.

Such a little stud muffin that Carter! Great post! I'm the mom of older boys too, and boy do I miss those days when they were little, cuddly and sweet. My oldest is Marine who now loves clothes and shopping as much as I do and texts me dressing room pics all the time…which cracks me up because he was not a fun shopper as a kid!
Enjoy that sweet boy! And…anxiously awaiting his Back-To-School portfolio in the fall! 😉
Sarah E @ theteacherswife.com says
Precious! I love girl clothes to death, but there is something so cute about little man clothes!! 🙂
April Parrish says

Carter is adorable! I grabbed my 7 year old a pair of natives today before reading your post. I'm so proud of myself!! She loves them and hasn't taken them off since. Guess I better grab some for the little man too 🙂

Just got a pair of Natives delivered to my door…my mom was about to order my son a pair of Crocs to replace his rain boots for the summer and I stopped her and showed her the Natives in Jiffy Black. Can't wait for him to wear them! Thanks for telling us about them!
