He’s cute as can be and it’s so much fun to have a baby around (especially one that doesn’t wake ME up in the middle of the night). 🙂
Carter always calls him “Baby Brody”.
It’s never just “Brody.” It’s always “Baby Brody”.
So cute.
So, when Nordstrom asked if I would do 2 more kid’s clothes posts, I was totally on board!
(But I want to be clear to the readers that don’t have kids. My blog is going to remain like 95% women’s clothes, and like 5% men’s and kid’s clothes. I have a hubby and a child, so shopping for them is a big part of my life, but I understand that the majority of you are here to shop for yourselves! So, that is what you are going to get most of the time when you come here. Every so often I will have a menswear post or a kidswear post sprinkled in. Good? Good.)
And if you don’t have kids, make sure you scroll down to the bottom of today’s post for some sale deals for us too!
🙂
Anyway, knowing that I was going to be doing two more kids’ posts,
I knew immediately that the first post would be with Carter and Brody.
And the second post would be with Carter and one of his besties, who just happens to be a girl.
A very cute and sassy girl! Y’all get ready. 🙂
But today is about the boys.
I got Carter and Brody the cutest Boden outfits ever, they both got new shoes, and I had grand ideas about going over to my sister’s house (we were cooking out over there on Sunday) and getting cute pictures of the two boys outside on the deck and by the pool looking DARLING.
Well, you know what they said about the best laid plans.
I would like to point out here that when writing this post I became aware that I have NO idea what “they” say about best laid plans. But I’m thinking they say something like…
Best laid plans never work out, Stupid.
Yes. That sounds about right.
This is what it looked like right before we hopped into our car to head to Conner’s house.
#bestlaidplansFAIL
FYI, a couple of my friends (Shay and Erika) got really excited when they saw this on instagram because they thought it was one of those “Big Bro” tees.
But no. 🙂
So, anyway…
When you look at these pictures of the cousins in their outfits, please try to remember what my dreams were for these pictures.
Bright sunshine, pretty plants, love practically shining between the two of them, and super cute smiles from both of them.
And if we’re going to be honest, I was even thinking that if I got some pictures that were good enough, they might even end up on a canvas.
WELL.
NO. SUCH. LUCK.
Remember.
Hey Stupid. Best Laid Plans NEVER Work Out.
Somebody feel free to needlepoint that on a pillow for me.
I present to you a series I would like to call Cousin Love.
Please know that throughout the photo session Carter said “Don’t slime on me Baby Brody” around 23,700 times. Ah, the memories.
Yep. These are the best 2.
Not really canvas worthy. 😉
But still, some pretty cute boys in some seriously cute play clothes.
And let’s just take a second to pause and look at these TEENY TINY BABY TOMS.
I’m DYING.
So you probably can guess that I like dressing Carter up on occasion, but for regular ol’ days where we are just headed to the park, to the library, to the grocery store, to a friend’s house, etc….
I like him to be super comfortable.
So, these Boden shorts are PERFECT for that. And these slip-on Natives are his favorite.
I absolutely loved the shirt too, but I must admit on the way to Conner’s house he looked down at what he was wearing, looked right up, and was all, “MOM. WHY am I wearing a PURPLE shirt?”
Chris didn’t help matters by saying “Good question Buddy.”
Boys.
😉
So, here’s Carter’s outfit.
I just love it. I think it is so bright, fun, AND COMFY!
EXACTLY what play clothes should be.
And listen, just because the clothes are from Nordstrom doesn’t mean they have to be expensive.
You should all know by now that Nordstrom has KILLER sales, so even if you aren’t willing to pay full price for kids’ clothes, you can always be sure that lots of the merchandise will go on sale (and just cross your fingers that the items you want don’t sell out).
Just click on what you like.
And here is Brody’s outfit. BRIGHT, FUN, AND COMFY! I’m 2 for 2!

LOVE the cuffs and the cut of it…and the colors are awesome. It would

also cute worn unbuttoned as an extra layer.
Skull shirt HERE AND ON SALE!!!! / Shorts, similar HERE / Converse HERE
These particular shoes only come in baby and toddler sizes, but click HERE for all kid’s converse.

Now, from what I hear from my friends, I only have a small window of time where I’m still going to be able to dress Carter without getting clear cut opinions from the little man himself. Once he starts speaking up, it sounds like it’s going to be all Under Armor, Adidas, and Nike.
So, click HERE For Under Armor on sale (33-40% off).
Click HERE for Adidas on sale (33-40% off).

Well done Crocs!
So, no canvas worthy photo for me, but I hope you ladies got lots of good sale clothing ideas for your kids! Lots of amazing deals to be had for sure!
And to just continue with the “the best laid plans” theme.
Here’s a picture I took of the 2 boys on Easter Sunday.
Are you dying?
What do you think Brody’s internal dialogue is in this picture?!? 🙂
And for no other reason than just to put a good picture on the blog today….
Here I am with my little sister and our boys on Easter Sunday!
Gosh I love these people! 🙂
So, that’s it for today!
Thank You Nordstrom for sponsoring the post!
It was fun to have a change of pace and get to talk about clothes for the other peeps in my family!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
p.s.
And just because it’s hard for me to go even 1 day without mentioning clothes for us girls, here are some more things I found on sale at the Half Yearly Sale!
shirred tank HERE (under $18)
Joe’s jeans HERE
asymmetric maxi HERE in regular and petite
p.p.s.
And it just occurred to me that lots of you might not have seen my SALES post yesterday since many of you were probably outside most of the day with family and friends.
So, just in case, here are the items I highlighted from Nordstrom since the deals are still good there.
(All of the other deals have already expired.)
Check out THIS maxi dress.
It comes in 3 colorways, and in both regular and petite!
YAY for maxi dresses that come in petite for us short girls!
There’s also THIS drawstring waist maxi in solid black and 2 graphic patterns.
It has great reviews, and it too is under $40 now!
And look at THESE wedges.
I’ve had several requests for wedges with a lower heel, and these fit the bill!
They come in this color as well as a black and a camel/white.
Loving THESE mint colored Vigoss jeans that are 33% OFF making them under $40!
The online reviews are mixed on these, but I’m assuming they are the
exact same as the pink ones from Vigoss that I have and LOVE.
Also, please pay no attention to how the mint pair is styled on
Nordstrom’s site. I often shake my head at the styling of certain
things.
Anyway, click HERE for the mint jeans.
For size reference, I’m normally a 4 (except for LOFT where I’m a 2) and I’m wearing a 27.
Last thing from Nordstrom, I went to Nordstrom on Friday morning and tried on several of the on sale shoes.
And I LOVED these next three.
(On a sidenote, we met Erika and Narci
and their kids at the mall. And Erika and I ate a taco that changed
our lives. Seriously. Go to Tin Star and order a Brisky Business taco
for yourself. I don’t care if I ever eat a taco besides this one for
the rest of my life.)
Anyway, I put the sandals on the blog and facebook late Friday afternoon, but in case you missed those posts,
here you go!
nude with gold cuff HERE
saddle with brass studs HERE
brass with gold cuff HERE
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my goodness! Those boys are too cute!!! And I love, love, love Boden for both boys and girls…Smith TOTALLY needs that Rock and Roll shirt with the Union Jack! And listen…you can do an entire post on those sparkly Crocs. I bought Kensington two pairs last year and she still wears them 12 months later. And they still look brand new! They are durable, they don't give her blisters, she loves them, I love them…seriously, they deserve their own post. Love them!
Tab & Erika says
Hahaha!!! Even though they weren't smiling sweetly for the camera, those two boys looked adorable!!!
Narci says
I love Carter's style!! That shirt he wore to your sister's is darling!! And, he and Brody are so super sweet!! Xoxo

Hey! I am an everyday reader, but, I believe THIS is my first comment! I loved the post! I actually just purchased those shorts and native shoes for my almost four year old and they are a big hit! Just a though, would you ever be willing to do a maternity style post? I am 18 weeks and have been really frustrated with maternity shopping so far. Just a thought! LOVE your blog!
Sheaffer says
Hi Kathleen! I might just be able to do a maternity post sometime this summer when I have more time! I have done one before, but it's been quite a while, so I'm due for another one! Thanks for the suggestion! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Liz/ says

As to what baby is thinking in the Easter Sunday shot – he is planning his world takeover. He has the exact same expression as Stewie, the baby from Family Guy would.
Kelsey Long says
Loving that maxi skirt you posted! I haven't gotten a chance to shop the half-yearly sale yet, but I'm dying to!
