WELCOME TO OUR OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE

This space is under our covered patio, right outside of our family room and kitchen.  It’s always been a pretty functional area, but until this summer, we haven’t utilized this space as much as we envisioned we would when we bought the house.  It’s always had the furniture because we purchased it shortly after moving in (almost 5 years ago now), but it’s basically been a just a patio with furniture.

With a little bit of love and some thoughtful spending, we now think of it as an outdoor living room and a true extension of our home.  It’s bright, it’s happy, it’s comfortable, and we all adore it. We love spending time out here as a family.

Let’s break it all down, and let’s start with the rug.

All of the pillows are great, but it’s these orange ikat pillows that really  have my heart.  The vibrant coral/orange color really pops against the bright blue rug and add a punch of personality to the space.  They are made for outdoor use with a durable fabric that stands up to the sun and other elements, and you can get them in blue too!

The red outdoor pouf  is quite possibly my favorite item in the space.  I originally spent more money on it than I should have, but I felt like it added a lot of fun, color, and functionality to the space.  I use it all the time as a foot rest, but it also serves as seating for kids!  It’s super lightweight and can be moved easily from place to place, depending on where it’s needed.  I actually wish we had more of them, and I just might get another one because right now it’s a SUPER BUY at 59% OFF.  I bought this at regular price ($219), but right now it’s ONLY $89.  It’s definitely worth the $89!   You can click HERE for the same pouf in a different pattern.

I think all spaces need real plants in them, but especially outdoor spaces.  You’ll see different succulents and other plants scattered throughout the space, and I couldn’t resist this adorable green planter.  It’s a bright and happy green, and I love the tufted look.

We don’t watch the t.v. out here all that much during the summer months, but we sure do utilize it during football season!  Truth be told, I’m really looking forward to Fall on the patio.  The temperatures will be much more conducive to outdoor living, and we sure do love college football.  #Boomer

We have three ceiling fans that span the length of the covered patio, but I wish I would have picked this outdoor fan up as well.  The more air movement the better, especially during the Summer months, and it’s 40% OFF right now.

I always love the texture that baskets add to a room, and they almost always provide a function too.  The colorful basket holds the remotes and the wicker carryall below (although supposed to be a silverware caddy) is perfect for holding sunscreen and bug spray.  The round wicker tray (on the left) has handles and is perfect for serving drinks and food as well.

To help get you oriented on how the backyard is laid out, this is the view when standing under the t.v. and looking out.    That’s the outdoor kitchen to the left.

In order to help unite the two spaces, we got a smaller rug in the same pattern for the outdoor kitchen.  We also chose to carry over my favorite orange ikat pillows to the bar stools.

If considering adding an outdoor kitchen to your home, I highly recommend an outdoor fridge.  We keep ours stocked with water, soft drinks, and adult beverages.  It’s so convenient to grab a drink from this fridge while in the pool instead of having to head inside.

This little part of our outdoor kitchen is always a prime place for gathering and snacking. This beverage dispenser is absolutely perfect when you have a crowd.  It’s BACK IN STOCK and ON SALE! Large quantities of water, lemonade, and sweet tea are some obvious choices…but think how great a beautiful Sangria would look in this container!

The succulents and cactus are real.  I picked them up at my favorite local grocery store.  Fun tip:  the tin planter and the celadon green planter were originally candle holders!
