On Friday you saw Part 1 of my Anniversary Sale PUBLIC ACCESS post with Nordstrom. Today is Part 2 with Nordstrom! You are going to get to see some more looks from me (that are ALL IN STOCK!), and you are going to get to see Conner’s picks for her WORK WEAR FAVORITES.
Let’s start with this peplum from Madewell! I think it’s such a great shirt because it has the feeling of a classic button up, but it surprises you with the fun peplum hem. And I of course am a big fan of the tiny striped pattern. I have it paired here with some black skinny jeans (more on these in a second) and some over the knee boots!
Size References: I sized up to a medium in the shirt. If you don’t have a large chest, you might be able to go with your regular size, but another reviewer talked about sizing up for more room in the shoulders. This adjustable pendant necklace might just be in my Top 5 purchases for the sale. I love how simple it is, and the adjusting mechanism is so cool. I’m excited for the versatility of the necklace and I know it will be a favorite year round for me.

These are over the knee boots I’m wearing. I absolutely love the color, design, and shape of the boots. I’m not keeping them, because I have similar boots from last year’s sale that I still love, but they are really great boots. I bought the “foxy”, and they are a gorgeous caramel color. Definitely size up a 1/2 size because I couldn’t even get my foot in my regular size. Your jeans will have to be true skinny jeans to tuck into these babies, but once you get them in, they will look great. These boots will also be perfect for fall dresses and cozy outfits with leggings.
And here’s a close up of the jeans. I’m wearing a 4 Regular, which is true to size for me, but others are saying they sized down. They are a deep rich black, and they have the same “ab-solution” technology that I talked about in the boot cut jeans and the grey jeans on Friday. They are crazy flattering. They suck in your tummy and lift your hiney, while still allowing you to breathe. They are stretchy and comfy. Black jeans are going to be a staple in my wardrobe this fall and winter, and you can’t beat the current price of $44.90!!!!
This is the same blouse you are going to see on Conner in a minute, but I chose the solid and she chose the floral print. This blouse is chic and sophisticated, while still managing to somehow be a little bit sassy!
I’ve obviously paired it here with black jeans and taupe booties for a casual outfit, but this would be a PERFECT work wear piece. Imagine how great it would look with black or grey slacks or a pencil skirt (click HERE for one with great reviews in the sale)! I think the color is gorgeous, and the tie neck and pleated shoulders make this such a pretty and feminine blouse.
For size reference, I thought I was going to need to size up in this blouse, so I got a medium. I was wrong. You can’t tell because how I have tucked it in here, but I was swimming in it (even the sleeves were huge). My regular size small would have fit much better. If you don’t have a large chest, other reviewers suggest that you might even be able to size down. Personally, I think my regular size is what’s going to work for me.

I showed y’all this black peplum hem military jacket the first day the sale went live for cardholders. I’ve received e-mails from several of you saying that you purchased this jacket and absolutely love how different it is than the typical military jackets you see. Some of you even said it’s been your favorite purchase from the sale!
Well, I’ve got great news. When I first talked about this jacket, it was only available in black. But it’s now available in army green as well! I sized up to a medium.
Look how cute it is in green!
This cardigan is one that Conner introduced me to last year. She thinks it’s the perfect cardigan for everything, but especially for the office. It comes in tons of colors (I’m wearing the pink smoke) and is true to size for me (I’m wearing a small).

And here’s a close up of the jeans . These are the exact same cut of the denim boot cut jeans I featured on Friday, but they are just in black! Again, I’m 5’4″, and I’m wearing the regular 4s (not petites). I’m wearing a 3 1/2 inch heel, and they are perfect on me. I have long legs for my height, but these jeans lengthen them and take 10 pounds off me!
*******************CONNER’S WORK WEAR PICKS FROM ANNIVERSARY SALE**************************
As soon as Conner sent me the pictures, I was completely smitten with this dress!
Here’s what she had to say: I don’t know if it’s the 100 degree heat in Texas or all of the amazing clothes at the Anniversary sale, but I’m SO ready for fall! Let’s start with the Chelsea28 shift dress. You guys – I’m in love! This dress is under $100 and is definitely going to be one of my favorite dresses this season. The ruffle sleeves are to die for and so feminine. The dress looks black in the pictures, but it’s a very dark navy. It’s appropriate for work, but you can dress it up, too! We have a wedding to go to this fall and I already know what I’ll be wearing. The dress (0) is true to size.
We also need to talk about the AMAZING Kendra Scott necklace. It’s SO pretty and looks fabulous with this dress. The gold really “pops” against the navy!
One of my other favorite buys from Anniversary are these Sam Edelman flats. The bow screams sophistication, but the metal studs give them an edgy look that I absolutely love! I’ve worn these shoes to work and on casual Fridays with jeans. They’re extremely versatile! The flats (5.5) are true to size.
So here’s the deal, I think I’m obsessed with these flats. I went to the mall briefly last week, and I actually saw the black floral pattern in person. And instead of looking like Grandma’s drapes (like I expected them to after seeing them online), they looked hip and totally chic! SERIOUSLY. They are awesome. Obviously they would be great for work, but I love the idea of wearing any of the patterns with skinny jeans and sweaters. Also, velvet is a big trend this season…and while I haven’t liked the tops, dresses, or bags I’ve seen in velvet….I do like the look of these shoes! I know the colors are hard to see in these tiny little thumbnails, so just click on the color you think you might be interested in (so you can get a closer look)!
This is the same blouse as the pink one I’m wearing above, Conner just chose the bold graphic pattern (which kind of surprised me)…but I think it looks great! Very sophisticated!
Here’s what Conner had to say: My second favorite Anniversary purchase is this gorgeous Halogen blouse! You guys, the pictures don’t do it justice. I’m not sure who made the decision to put black, yellow, green, and white together, but she/he is brilliant. The color combination is beautiful! I recommend sizing down a size in the blouse. I typically wear an XXS, but I’m wearing an XSP in this blouse. I will probably take it to the tailor and have them take it in a smidge on each side. The blouse is machine washable. I will hang it to dry and use a cool iron, if necessary.
The Sam Edelman flats also look fantastic with the outfit. They really stand out against the black pants. I just love this look!

Personally, I haven’t made any beauty purchases from the sale yet…but this pick of Conner’s has me browsing beauty now.
I am so excited about this MAC mini lip kit. This set has AWESOME colors for fall. I don’t wear a lot of color on my lips. I tend to stick to neutral colors (and a little coral if I’m feeling adventurous J) , and these colors give just the amount of tint I like. The set features two shades of Lipglass (Saint No Angel and Totally Buff) and two lipsticks (Love Me Lots and Dandy Apple). You can mix and match the lipstick and lipglasses to create different looks. This is definitely a must have!
Thank you, Conner!
I hope you ladies saw some things today that hadn’t necessarily caught your eye on the site, and now you’re excited about some new finds! A huge thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!
