Conner’s Closet | WORK WEAR

It’s been awhile (because she had a baby, y’all!), but it’s time once again for Conner’s Closet!!!

In case you are new here, Conner is my little sister, and she worked in corporate America for years.  Here she is with her precious family.

Over the years, I had lots of readers that continually asked for business casual outfit inspiration, so it made sense for Conner to start highlighting these types of outfits for us!  Why Conner?  Because instead of me showing these types of outfits (since I don’t actually wear or need these types of clothes very often), it was natural for Conner to share them because she was wearing these types of outfits every day!  Secondly, because she’s DARLING.   So, the Conner’s Closet series was born!

Things are a little different these days though.  Since having Bennett (4 months old now), she hasn’t been working in an office.  {PLEASE.  Take an appropriate amount of time to ooh and ahh over his squishiness and rolls.  AND THOSE CHEEKS!}

Once Conner was ready to start doing these posts again, I wanted them to work for her in her current stage of life.  So, I asked her to make sure she still highlighted WORK WEAR, but suggested that she also show how the tops could easily transition to casual dressing as well.  Well, she hit it out of the park!

Today’s post is a mix of office appropriate outfits and go to your kid’s sporting events on weekends and run around town with your family outfits.

Conner’s thoughts on all of her outfits today will be in italics, and my thoughts will be in regular font.  Let me start out by saying that her super cute outfits almost make me want to work in an office.  #almost

Firefly Ruffled Henley Mixed Media Blouse and Chewed Hem Crop Jeans

If you know me, you know I love a mixed media blouse and this one did not disappoint! The print is super cute.  But to be honest, I don’t think the print looks like fireflies – they look more like flowers to me. I love love love the ruffles and the elasticized cuffs and the fact that this top can be dressed up or dressed down.  I’ve worn it with jeans and it would also be cute with pink or black work pants!  Fits TTS, I’m wearing an XS.

So cute, Conner!  The details are hard to see, but if you click over you can see the ruffles, darts, and pleats!  This is a really pretty blouse with really great style!

Striped Bubble Hem Sweatshirt and Let Down Hem Jeans

You guys.  I LOVE this outfit!  The sweatshirt is comfortable, lightweight, and has an awesome bubble hem.  It has a slightly open weave, so you will need to wear a cami underneath.

I think this top is too casual for the office, so I wore it with the let down hem slim pocket skinny jeans (which BTW are my new favorite pair of jeans). They have just the right amount of stretch – they’re so flattering and hold me in in all the right places! The sweatshirt (XXS) and the jeans (24 regular) are TTS.

Oh!  And the sneakers are incredibly comfortable, and I cannot recommend them enough.  I love how they slip on, and this neutral color is so versatile.

Conner, this top looks like something I would live in! AND THE JEANS AND THE SNEAKERS are too cute!  Everything looks great, and I think lots of ladies would get lots of use out of these items.

Eyelet Mixed Media Sweater Styled 2 Ways

Confession – I’ve already worn this sweater 2 times, and I just purchased it 9 days ago. I love it that much!  The eyelet puff sleeves are so pretty and feminine. This sweater is also very versatile – you can easily wear it with dress pants or with jeans. I’m wearing the chewed hem slim pocket skinny jeans.  The jeans are mid-rise and slightly cropped.  Let me tell you…they’re coming in at a close second to the let down hem jeans!  The sweater (XS) and the jeans (24) are TTS.

And look how cute it is all dressed up with work pants and jewelry!  And fyi, there’s one bad review on this top, but I don’t agree with the reviewer that the fit was off.  I love the fit and everything about this top.

CONNER.  THIS TOP IS AMAZING.  I adore eyelet in Spring and Summer, and having it on just the sleeves is a perfect way to ease into the seasonal trend.  There aren’t many tops that you can wear with work pants and cut off denim shorts, but this top would be so cute with distressed cut offs and sandals too!

Floral Ruffle Split Neck Blouse Styled 2 Ways

Ruffles, ruffles, ruffles…give me all of the ruffles!  This blouse has a ruffle trim at the collar, ruffle trim on the sleeves, AND ruffle trim on the cuffs.  It has a ton of colors which means the possibilities are endless…you can wear it with jeans…navy dress pants…yellow dress pants…pink dress plants…or cobalt blue dress pants.  The top has a split neck with button closure, but I think it looks best when worn open. It is slightly sheer, so I recommend wearing a cami underneath.  The blouse fits TTS (XXS).

Garden V Neck Puff Sleeve Blouse with Jeans

I saved the best for last. This is, without a doubt, my favorite top of the post.  The print is so fun!  And talk about versatility…you can wear it with jeans and literally any color dress pant.  The top is described online as navy, but honestly, you could easily wear it with black pants too.  I’m usually not drawn to v-necks, but this top has definitely changed my mind.  Plus, it has small ruffle detail on the shoulders AND button cuffs.  The blouse fits TTS (XXS).

Yet another great blouse that will transition easily between seasons and can be dressed up or down!  Good find!  And it’s ALSO ON SALE for just $29.50!

She also went ahead and grabbed pics of some of her casual outfits she’s been wearing at home, wearing to school pick up, to the grocery store, etc.  She says she’s been living in the above neutral slip on sneakers and the slip on camo sneakers seen below.

And the tunic sweater and grey jeans are both great basics with a little something extra (the texture in the sweater and the color of the jeans).  Both true to size.

I introduced her to this Amazon split hem tunic, and she’s just as obsessed as I am.  It’s great with jeans AND leggings.

And one final top that Conner sent me (that I’ve shared previously), but wanted to share again in case you missed it the first time.  She said it’s super soft, and make sure you notice the super cute ruffle collar. Both the sweatshirt and the sneakers are true to size.

And because this is a WORK WEAR post, I want to share this Amazon blouse I first shared on last Friday’s post.

This ruffle placket blouse is fabulous.  I’m wearing the “blush tossed floral”, and there are 3 other patterns to choose from and 3 other solids. I loved this blush floral pattern pattern the most.  The pattern is a little playful, and the ruffle placket is so so pretty.  I love leaving it open a bit up top for a really feminine look that is still appropriately modest for a work environment.  For size reference, I’m wearing a 6 in the top (which is true to size for me in a top like this).  If you get the pants (THEY ARE MY FAVORITE EVER!!!), make sure you size down 1 size.  Some even size down 2!
