Actually I have two announcements. Do you want the good news or the bad new first?
Let’s start with the bad news.
There’s no Bachelorette recap this week
I know. I’m sorry.
But I had tons of play dates, a girl’s night out, a mall trip for Shopping With Sheaffer and Shay (on the blog tomorrow), lots of snuggling and cartoon watching, and family time at night……and I just couldn’t make it happen this week.
Sorry Girls! I plan to be back next week with a recap!
Here’s the good news.
Has Nordstrom named me their special Anniversary Sale correspondent? Um, no.
Have I named myself? Why yes. Yes, I have.
Andrea – make me a badge or something so it looks official.
Maybe I need a sash.
I’ve been trying to think of ideas to make shopping the sale this year extra fun….
and extra easy for all of you…..and I feel like as a Special Correspondent (even if it is a self-imposed title) that I have certain responsibilities I need to fulfill.
So, today is all about educating everybody about the sale.
If you don’t know about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I have three words for you.
BLESS. YOUR. HEART.
Fall items? In July?
Yes.
I remember that I used to think it was weird too….to shop for fall jackets and boots in July……when it’s still 100 degrees outside….. but now I don’t question it.
I EMBRACE IT.
Because listen, if you don’t embrace it, you will be spending a lot more money for those EXACT SAME ITEMS in the fall.
So, you might as well just hop on the Anniversary Sale train and enjoy the ride.
Here are the details:
ever goes live to the public, so that’s what makes early access so
important.
How am I going to do that?
With a little thing I’d like to call the Inside Scoop Group.
(I wish I could take credit for that name, but it was all Andrea.)
(graphic created by my super talented friend Andrea, idea for the group courtesy Shay! i love my friends!) |
I
will be shopping the sale AS SOON AS THE DOORS OPEN on Thursday the 10th.
I have childcare all lined up and will be all sorts of ready to go.
You remember this lady? The “Open Open Open” lady? Yeah, that’ll be me.
So, I will shop on Thursday the 10th, and by 8:00 that evening, I will start posting some of my finds on both the blog and facebook!
The blog post will be updated throughout the evening, and by Friday at noon there will be a full post up of the things that I have found so far.
And if you’re not a cardholder, you can start making your list (by item #) of what you are going to hopefully snag once the sale goes live for non-cardholders!
That way, but the time July 18th rolls around, you are already going to know what items you are going to want to start throwing in your cart like a mad woman!
From July 10th – July 17th, I will definitely be posting some Anniversary Sale items, but I will also have a couple of normal posts sprinkled in since only card-holders will have access to the sale.
And then the first Friday when the sale goes live for everybody (July 18th), my post will go live at 12:00 a.m. that morning so you can start shopping it ASAP!
Like you can have a quick power nap that night, and then set your alarms for 12:00 a.m. to make sure you get everything you want.
What? You wouldn’t ever consider doing that?
Yeah, neither would I.
And listen.
Please know that I am going to do everything I can to make shopping this sale as easy and fun as possible for all of you ladies!
I will mainly be highlighting clothes for us girls,
but I will also spend 1 or 2 days highlighting things for the hubbies and the kids.
(I know I like to get some back to school items for my little guy every year.)
I will start by posting my favorite things that I’ve found…
and then I will probably highlight things by category:
boots one day
coats one day
bags one day
casual wear one day (jeans and tops)
You get the idea
I put this pic on instagram on Tuesday night approximately 12 minutes after retrieving the catalog from my mailbox, and as you can see, I had already started jotting down some of the things I was the most interested in.
And then I just grabbed a sharpie and started circling and drawing hearts around items like I was in middle school. What can I say? The catalog got my endorphins going.
Here are some pics of what I think are going to be my favorite items…
THE BLARDIGAN IS IN THE SALE! WHAT THE WHAT?
BLARDIGANS FOR EVERYBODY!
The Blardigan is going to be $59.90 on sale (regular price $90).
And remember, they make great Christmas gifts!
(And did you notice in the blardigan picture that there are Hanky Panky panties to the left? Sore.)
The Moon and Lola Engraved Bar Necklace would make a great personalized gift!
The bar necklace will be $44.90 on sale (regular price $68).
I am loving the fall color Kendra Scott earrings.
The earrings are going to be $33.90 on sale (regular price $52).
Alexandra Wedge Booties available in both black and other colors.
The boots will be $129.90 (regular price $184.95).
And lots of Nike running shoes are going to be about $30 off!
Such a great deal!
I also already have my eye on a pair of boyfriend jeans, a military green parka with a fur hood, and a pair of super expensive Stuart Weitzman boots (they are going to be $299.90 during the sale, but $475 after the sale). I just know I’m going to fall in love with those boots, but part of me is kind of hoping that I hate them. 🙂
Don’t worry. I got this.
🙂
See you back here tomorrow for Shopping With Sheaffer and Shay!
Yay!
p.s.
LOFT went 50% OFF EVERYTHING this morning (with the exception of Lou and Grey items).
code: FIFTY
There are lots of new items that I haven’t seen yet, but here are the items I tried on last week and loved!
I have absolutely nowhere to wear it, but I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH!
Somebody invite me somewhere where I can wear this fabulous romper!
For size reference, I was wearing a 2.
Kind of obsessed with these next couple of outfits.
Wait. That’s not true. I’m crazy obsessed with these next 2 outfits.
For size reference, I was wearing small.
Sorry, I can’t find the exact cream shell, but there is a similar one HERE.
Did you hear that? With pockets.
I loved the fitted waist and the fullness. And I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this, but it has pockets. 🙂
For size reference, I was wearing a size 2.
I was wearing size 4 shorts, but I needed size 2 (they were just out in store).
For size reference, I was wearing a small.
For size reference, I was wearing a 2, so I would suggest sizing down.
Let me tell you something about these jeans. They are stupid flattering.
STUPID. FLATTERING.
I think they made me look AT LEAST 5 pounds skinnier. At least.
I was super tall and super skinny in these jeans.
(FYI: I showed my hubby this picture because I wanted him to see how
tall and skinny I was in the jeans, and here’s what he said……wait
for it…….”Are those jeans on backwards?” I laughed so hard!)
Boys.
For size reference, I was wearing a 4.
I needed a 4 in these shorts, so I would say they are true to size.
If you do like short shorts, these are gonna be your jam.
Both of these skirts come in regular and petite. I was wearing a
regular small in the striped skirt and I was wearing a petite small in
the solid color. I preferred the petite small (they just didn’t carry
the petite in the stripe in the store). These skirts were flowy and
easy and just really cute.
Is it me, or do I look like I’m 5’9″?
Click HERE for these sailor pants that also come in navy and white!
They have just the right amount of stretch in them and are also very flattering. Love the Marissa fit.
And wait! They also have jeans HERE that are the same sailor style! LOOOOVVVEEE!
And don’t forget these items since they are now 40% OFF….
My favorite khaki shorts are HERE (and they come in soooo many colors).
I have 4 pair (2 from last year, 2 from this year).
Click HERE for the denim shorts below.
These run big, so order 1 size down. For size reference, I’m wearing a 2.
Click HERE for my top. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
p.p.s.
The winner of the Barrington tote is…..drum roll please…
Kelli Badder!
Kelli, e-mail me at pinteresttoldmeto@yahoo.com and I will connect you with Jenny at Barrington!
You have until Sunday at 12:00 p.m. to contact me, or another winner will be chosen!
Click HERE if you aren’t Kelli but can’t stand it anymore and want one for yourself!
And remember…I think the code BLOGON might still work for free shipping!

I'm thinking now is a really good time to start planning my speech, to inform my husband on why I need to be a card holder! Maybe… I'll just tell him Pinterest told me to! 😉 Can't wait to see the sales.
Christy says
Who could blame you for skipping a Bachelorette recap?!?!? I think I blacked out midway through the show. Here it is in a nutshell – Andy rocked lots of cool gowns and had the best hair of the season. Cody was gone on the date(finally, never thought that pair would work out). Pants guy(JJ) gone at the the rose ceremony(surprised he made it this far even though I love his quirkiness). All the others are puffing out their chests and locking horns because that what the male species does when fighting over the lone female. Coach is really the only one that didn't act like a fool. He even saw an opportunity to make out in this episode and took it, however, hesitantly. There you go! Recap done! #mostboringseasonevah
Can't wait for the sale, only two more weeks, eek!
Lizbeth Orr says
Just went online and got a Nordstrom card. I'd be devastated if the Blardigan sold out at that price and I didn't get one, or two!
Narci says
Those striped shorts!!! I mean, how cute are they? Love!
Amanda says
I'm one of those "Bless Your Heart" people. I'm from a nice little city in Georgia that doesn't even have a Nordstrom! Crazy, I know. So, I had never purchased from there until I started reading your blog and now I'm addicted. I can't wait to see what goodies you find!
Also, I'm headed to Australia July 7 – 15 for work and have 3 dinners there that I need to have something more than just a work dress. I picked up the Loft black romper last weekend and do you think that it would be appropriate to wear? Thank you! 🙂
Sheaffer says
Hi Amanda! I think it would be great to wear to a nice dinner! Good call!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

AAAAHH!!!! The mustard colored Kendra Scott earrings?!?! SIGN ME UP!!!! Game face is on!
Julie Clark says
So glad you've got this for us!! This will be my first time I won't be in the States for this sale. I always plan my vacay to CA so. That I'm there for the anniversary sale. Bummed I won't be there in person, but thankful I have you to help me through it. 🙂
Amy McCown says
I love it that you will be the "Open, Open, Open lady!" My birthday is in June and my family has started giving me money so I can shop the anniversary sale. I honestly can not think of a better birthday present.
Sara Laverty says
I'm dying because my catalog hasn't come yet. 🙁 BUT so thankful you're on your game and have done some prep work for us. You da best! 🙂
Shelley W says
The necklace in the pictures? Where is it from? It looks so good with all the outfits.
Sheaffer says
Hi Shelley!
So sorry but it's from LOFT a couple of years ago. 🙁

Sheaffer 🙂
Domestic Engineer says
Im going on a cruise july 12-19th so I will miss lots of your posts. Cry me a river, I know. I'm so bummed but im relying on you to post the best picks before I leave. I get more excited about items after seeing someone else likes them too then I JUST HAVE TO HAVE THEM!
Domestic Engineer says
One more thing, do I need to get a nordstrom card to get the sale prices early, or can I do a price adjustment when I return? You are my Nordstom guru.
Darcy says
Lol, I love your excitement for the sale! One of my male friends posted this last night on Facebook about the sale – "Rule #1 about a sucessful relationship: When the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale catalog arrives in the mail, you immediately inform your other half!" Spot on.
Tiffany {A Touch of Grace} says
I literally have butterflies and may be having heart palpitations I'm so excited! I'm making my mother in law drive 3 hours the first weekend of pre-sale to do some shopping with me. I cannot wait! Some great things this year!
And yes, I 100% can picture you doing the "open, open, open" at the door. 🙂
Susan Jeffries says
You are such a breath of fresh air! Love your posts(: I have never shopped at Nordstrom – I know! But I will be following along on your spree and hopefully picking some items up for fall. I did buy the Loft skirt and sweater for family pics in Charleston this summer ! Thanks for the tips! Susan
Darcy says
I don't have a Nordstrom card and you are scaring me that everything I want will be gone before then!! Haha do i sign up!? I just can't decide!

Sheaffer says
Darcy –
I just called Nordstrom, and they have a debit card too…and the debit card also gives you early access. So, there's an option for you!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
All Things Big and Small says
I love this idea! I don't have a card but am seriously considering getting one. Everything I always want is from Nordstrom and they have the BEST customer service! Can't wait!
Becke says
Hubby just got me the blardigan off my wish list for our anniversary. It is so soft. I love it already. I live in upper Michigan which didn't get the memo that it is summer, so I have been wearing it every night.
Lauren @ My Slice of Life says
Can't wait to see all your amazing finds!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed the blardigan is still available after the cardholder period so I can finally stop coveting it and start wearing it!
Mana Smith says
I forget to save for this sale every single year! Ah. Next year will be different. $10 a week put away starting now! That way I can do a massive shop next year.

I'm really want the black romper from LOFT and I have a gift card from one of my sweet students just waiting to be spent. I'm 5'7 and a size 4, do you think it will be long enough to wear a low wedge? I can imagine wearing it so many ways!!
Sheaffer says
Yes, I was wearing a 4 inch wedge with it, and it was still too long on me. And even though I'm only 5'4", I have long legs for my height.
Hope this helps!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Jackie T. says
I have the leather jacket, the blardigan and the bar necklace on my list! Can't wait!
I also bought those jeans at LOFT this week and you are right, they are super flattering…however, they are weirdly inconsistent in sizing, I tried on many of the same 2 sizes in 3 different stores and then finally found the perfect pair.
Kelli Badder says
I won, I won, I won!!! I'm so excited!!!!
Lora G says
Buy the romper! Seriously, it looks so fabulous on you!!! No worries about the bach, it's brutal, so hard to watch, haha!
