I call it: A Study in Denim — Sheaffer Told Me To

I hope everybody had a WONDERFUL July 4th weekend. I know we did!

Lots of family and friend fun at the lake Thursday – Sunday. It was greatness.

I can’t believe how much I’m loving this new item in my closet, and I’m getting a couple of e-mails a day from you guys saying how much you love this item too!

Today’s post is a little bit different.

Until Thursday last week (which was when we left on vacation),

I pretty much had lost the will to live.

I had the worst cold of my life.

I can almost see your eyes rolling as you all say “A cold? Really?”

Yes.

A cold.

A cold that put all other colds I’ve ever had in my life to shame.

At one point I literally looked over at my little guy’s toy electric drill and wondered if I should bore a hole into my head to release the pressure.

When I coughed, I actually wanted to cry. Not because it hurt my throat, but because my head felt like it was actually going to either crack into a thousand tiny pieces or just split clear in two.

I welcomed either scenario.

Sooooooooo, I looked on my phone to see if I could find an old picture to post about.

(By the way, if anybody were to ever find my phone and not know that I have this blog, they would think I was a crazy loon who really liked taking selfies. Hundreds of pictures people. I’m quite sure they would think I was psychotic.)

But that is neither here nor there.

I DID find some pictures that you haven’t seen yet, which enabled me to postpone actually getting dressed another day.

Score.

So, this is what I found.

I like to call it:

A STUDY IN DENIM

So we all know that the middle jacket is my MUCH BELOVED Must Have Jacket (found HERE).

What I found while at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago is that Kut from the Kloth also makes the jacket in white (HERE) and dark denim (HERE).

They also make it in grey….and mint….and just plain blue denim.

wow.

my mind was blown.
(For size reference, all 3 of the jackets above in my picture are size SMALL. So, it seems as if the white jacket and the dark denim jackets are both a bit longer than the stonewashed denim. Still, I liked the way the smalls fit me.)

This is the question that came to mind after seeing all of these options:

Was it possible that I could wear a denim jacket every day for the rest of my life?

If I LOVED my first denim jacket so much from Kut,

could I possibly love another Kut jacket just as much?

I imagine it would be how I would feel if I were having a 2nd child.

Could my heart stretch that much?

Oh, I’m just kidding.

Kind of.

Anyway, I loved all 3 of the jackets above!

My first jacket remains my favorite,

which is also how I imagine most mother’s must feel about their first-born children:

always the favorite and most loved.

So, I have now started contemplating adding another one of these beauties to my closet. If one of them is even 1/2 as versatile as my first one, it’s totally worth the investment.

So, below is a collage to study.

The top row is white denim jackets.

The middle row is light/stonewashed denim jackets.

The bottom row is dark denim jackets.

When looking at the collage, I actually think I like the dark denim jacket the most!

WHAT?

I think it’s because none of the light denim jackets are quite as fabulous as our light denim jacket.

It’s not even a fair fight really.
But I also like the total light and summery feel of the white denim.

If you are wondering what you would wear each color jacket with (and if you have things in your closet that would work), then refer to the above collage and see if you have similar items.
Also, when fall comes, all 3 of the denim versions (stonewashed, regular blue, and dark) will look fantastic with all of the colored skinny jeans and cords in your closet.

I decided to do this Study in Denim for two reasons:
1) So many of you have fallen in love with the MUST HAVE stonewashed version like me, that I thought some of you might also consider adding a new color to your closet.
After all, now that we know that the jacket is so versatile,
adding another one kind of seems like a no-brainer!
2) I got lots of e-mails from you saying that you didn’t feel like you needed a new denim jacket because you already had one similar to the MUST HAVE.
(I respectfully disagree and definitely think you should the MUST HAVE one to your closet, especially since it is now on sale.) 🙂
HOWEVER, if you continue to insist you don’t need the stonewashed version,
maybe one of the other colors kick up your fancy?

So..I’m dying to know.

Which look is your favorite?

it’s yet another denim jacket pic….so I thought I would include it in this post.
Because I do know (in theory at least) that not every single post can be about my denim jacket.
This was the same day in the Nordstrom dressing room.
I didn’t have a golden purse…so I used a golden scarf instead and just paired it with a black v-neck.
Cute, right?
Soooo simple, yet sooooooo cute!

Sorry, but the scarf was on sale for like $8 in the junior’s department, and it is now sold out.
The shorts are from LOFT around 5 years ago.

The LOFT sale is no joke! I bought 2 dresses (for $25 each!!) and some super cute T-strap sandals in nude. You inspired the nude color for sure with one of your recent posts dedicated to nude flats. I've never seen sales as big at LOFT as I have over the last week.

I wnat this denim jacket SO bad!! I usually wear a large or xl in tops and I'm scared this jacket will be too tight in the arms after reading the reviews… would anyone of you fabulous readers be the same size and have bought the jacket??? 🙂 I'm curious to know how it fits in the arms!

You make denim jackets look so good, I don't think I could pull off the same look…hmm…But that white one is really calling my name. I just bought a hot pink leather jacket, I'm hoping it fits when I'm not pregnant, as I probably can't return it 6 months later 🙂

I have a dark denim jacket, a white denim jacket and now, the lighter denim one from KUT. I love them all! I wear them all the time during the summer because it's super hot outside and freezing inside at most places. They dress up any outfit and are a bit hipper than a cardigan. I'm not hatin' on cardigans either because I love and wear those too! 😉

I hope Nordstrom puts the putty wedges on sale soon. They only seem to mark down certain colors though.

I like the white jacket. It just seems so clean & summery. Plus, it really shows off your tan!

LOVE this blog! You are hilarious, and I look forward to reading it every day! I ordered the jacket. I do wonder a couple things… can it really be worn in the fall/ cooler months? For some reason it seems so summery. Maybe you could show more cool weather looks with it?! Also I'm 36, and this may sound weird but is it too "young" looking? I can't wait to get it, just wanted to throw out some things to see what you thought! :)Thanks! Becky

  First of all, thanks so much for the sweet words about the blog. So glad you ordered the jacket, you will LOVE it! And about if it can be worn year round……Not this Friday, but next Friday, I have 3 different fall/winter outfits that I've created with the jacket. So, on the 19th you will get to see that it really does work in cool weather looks!
  And about it looking "too young"…I'm 36 too, and I don't think it looks too young at all!

I kinda wish I lived in Texas so I could convince you to go shopping with me. Love the jean jacket looks! I found mine on clearance at Gap a few years back and wear it more than anyone should rock a single item of clothing. No shame in my game though! 🙂

Ok, your blog is dangerous…broke down and bought the denim jacket and I noticed the yellow wedges were on sale, so added those as well…already have the putty color!
