It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
So y’all know the neutral sweater I highlighted last week (I paired it with blue jeans and neutral sneakers)? The one I gushed about? WELL….NOW IT’S ON SALE!!!! 40% OFF!
This week I went for an all neutral look and paired it with my white distressed skinny jeans, a neutral tote, and my cognac wedge booties (that are also ON SALE)! I think neutral looks are so chic. I’m wearing a small in the sweater (which is true to size for me), and it’s perfectly loose…without being boxy. Some have said that they sized down, and you might want to do this if you have a smaller chest, but I liked the way my regular size small fit me.

And here, I simply topped it off with my military jacket when we went to dinner that night. I’ve linked the exact one I’m wearing, so make sure you size down 1 size because it definitely runs big. I love the collar on this particular jacket and how it’s long enough to cover my bum.

Since my wedge booties are on sale, I thought you needed a close up of the details. Mine are the cognac, which is good news, because that’s the only color that’s still well-stocked. The loops and the ties are just darling, and I LOVE a wedge. I’ve had them since the fall, and I’ve worn the heck out of them. They look great with skinny jeans, cuffed jeans, and are a good height for boot cut jeans as well. I’ve worn them with dark wash, light wash, grey, black, and white jeans.
And if you need a reminder of what the above sweater looks like with regular ol’ jeans, here’s the shot from last week!

Girls. I’ve been scheming about Spring outfits and having the most fun! It was in the 80s here last week, so I just got in the mood for warm weather items. Now it’s cold here again, but I couldn’t wait to post this outfit. I’m so afraid that this clutch is going to fly off the shelves once more people discover it. It’s a great size, the embroidery is amazing, and POMP POMS!!!! And the ankle tie flats are a great price point and quite comfy.
The bell sleeves on the poplin top are so stinkin’ cute. My normal size was too small in the top, but I promptly ordered 1 size up. I also ordered these pink smoke jeans because SPRING! Just like the white jeans, they are from the same maker of my much beloved grey Caslon ankle jeans (that are no longer available). The white ones don’t come in petite, but I ordered a petite in the pink smoke jeans, and I expect them to fit exactly like my grey ones!
COME! ON! SPRING!

I told y’all a couple of weeks ago that I was looking for a new denim shirt (specifically a popover), because my favorite one from J Crew Factory was no longer appropriate for wear out of the house. The button holes had become too big, and it would spontaneously unbutton at the most inappropriate times. 🙂 Well, I found one I like!
To be honest, there are a couple of things I would like to change about it, but it’s definitely the best one I’ve found. I wish it wrinkled less…and I wish there was one more button. I like it not being all buttoned up, but it’s a bit too low when you don’t button that second button you see…and it’s definitely too high for my taste if you do button it. I’m probably going to get a snap put on it. I’m wearing a medium in the shirt. It’s roomy, but not sloppy. And I know some of you will ask, but it’s definitely not long enough to wear with leggings.
And in case you are curious, I can’t stop wearing the sneakers. And I’m okay with it.

I share this picture every year, but Chris and I had our first date at the Valentine’s Day dance our junior year of high school. Awwwwwwwwwww! A friend was taking our picture after the dance and told me to “give him a kiss”. So, our first kiss was captured on film. Again, Awwwwwwwwwww! Please disregard my nose gouging into his eye. #iwasnervous #wewerebabies
After all these years together, he still manages to surprise me with sweet gestures. He brought me these flowers last weekend and cooked us a steak dinner (and a medium rare steak is definitely the way to Carter’s heart). 😉 But the best part of all of it? He went to the grocery store so I wouldn’t have to. #nowthatslove
The cutting board and the large paper mache bowl are both from my trip to Round Top, TX last fall. The pink and white pitcher was from a Dallas antique store (like 10 years ago), and the tea towel is from HERE.

Carter’s teacher is a favorite for sure! My goodness he loves Mrs. Finney! And yes, she was rocking a baby blardigan at the Valentine’s Day party. 🙂

I am loving all of the neutral outfits in this post! And I also love that pic of you and Chris :).
Alyssa says
Can you talk more about the white skinny jeans? Are they stretchy, comfy?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Alyssa! Stretchy AND comfy! I got my regular size, but if you are sometimes between sizes, you might want to consider sizing down. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Beth says
Shea – What size Zella leggings do you wear? I’m probably same size as you but am not sure whether to order XS or S. Thank you!
Sheaffer says
I wear a small! The x small fir, but they aren’t very comfy. 🙂
Erika Slaughter says
Whoa! Grocery store run is legit true love. Just like when Tab filled up my car in the cold and rain. Forget all the flowers give me that any day!
Katie Allred says
I’ll be needing to make another Nordstrom order! Those Zella low profile socks are my favorite! I only have 3 pair and I do laundry just to make sure they’re clean for the gym ????. Why I don’t just get more, I don’t know! I’m off todo that now ????!
Narci says
Those Zella leggings are darling!!! Hopping over to check them out now! 🙂
Amanda says
weird question- are the plums in the rose pic real or artificial? The varied speckled colors are so pretty! I’m looking for something to fill my apothecary jars, but most artificial fruit looks really fake. If they’re faux, can you share where you found them? Thanks!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Amanda! They are artificial, but they are like 10 years old and I have no memory of where I got them. Probably from Tuesday Morning or something. So sorry I’m not more help! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Love that vase!!

Last night we were at my son’s basketball game and there was a mom from the other team that I am pretty sure reads your blog. She was following your advice wonderfully in some of your favorite booties, a military jacket, jeans and a long necklace. I was giggling that I recognized all of those items!
Sheaffer says
So fun, Jennifer!!!! xoxo
Angela Ellingson says
That picture of you and Chris is so sweet! Love that you are high school sweethearts!
Karen Grissen says
So many fun and cute things. I just ordered the white skinnies, hopefully they won’t show all of my bumps and bulges that come along with wearing white. aaaccckkkk…. I wish online stores would link the other items they show with the main item cuz I’m loving that gray and white stripped shirt that is showcased with the jeans. :o)
Sheaffer says
Hi, Karen! I think the top was Caslon! I tracked it down, bought it, and already turned it. I totally agree that it looked so dang cute, but I didn’t love it once I got it. 🙁 xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Barb says
Are the New Balance sneakers you’re wearing actually grey, as described on the Nordstrom link, or are they more of a tan? The color looks different depending upon what website you’re on. Thanks, Sheaffer. Love your blog!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Barb! I guess I would call them for of a greige (grey and beige together)?!? They have grey undertones (and not yellowy), so maybe “putty” is a good description?!? Hope this helps, and thanks for the sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Abby Cranmer says
Those Hunter Boots you suggested have been on my wish list forever. Thank you so much for highlighting them or I would have probably missed the reduced price. Happy Friday!

Hi there- I just got this Madewell denim shirt from Nordstrom that I LOVE, it runs very small, I got a M and it fits well, normally I wear a XS or S in their stuff.

Traci! Oh my goodness, that is DARLING!!!!

You need to buy some Hollywood Fashion Tape. It is LEGIT!! I use it on all of my button front shirts. I put it between the buttons, so there’s no gap. I also put it above the top button I want to button if the next hole up is too high. You don’t have to worry about showing anything you don’t want to. It stays on great.(I have actually washed it on some shirts by mistake and it stayed on.) Here’s a link to it on Amazon but it is carried in a ton of stores. Walmart is even carrying it now.

Sheaffer says
Great tip, Misty! I’m definitely going to order some!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 😉
Jodi says
I want that clutch but made as a crossbody bag!
Sheaffer says
OOoooh! That would be so cute, Jodi!!!!!
Christina says
My favorite outfit is the one with j.crew top. Have you worn it yet? Some reviews on J.crew says if you lift your arms the whole shirt comes up way too high. It looks adorable and I think I want to try it on.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Christina! Hm….I’m not sure. It was so tight across the chest that I didn’t have it on very long. Maybe it won’t be a problem if you size up? xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Chris T says
FYI: Sheaffer, you can easily stitch up your too big buttonholes so the buttons dont pop out -useful especially if you love the shirt. Also if any of your readers are interested in a similar pitcher to the lovely one in your photo simply go to etsy and search for pink transferware pitcher, or red transferware pitcher. Lots of options but yours is the best!
Cindy Beck says
Hi Sheaffer. What size did you get in the white and pink Caslon skinnies? I’m a little confused on their sizing. I generally wear a 28/6, but their size 6 is a 27. Should I go by my regular size 6 size? Thanks. The picture of you and your husband is the cutest. Well, not cuter than Carter, but a very close second.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cindy! Well, the sizing is kind of confusing. In the past, if the size (ex. 2,4,6, etc.) doesn’t match up with the waist inches….I typically still go with the waist inches (like a 27). So, I got a 27 in the white jeans, even though I’m typically a 4. I never tried on the 26s, but I would actually be curious how those fit. The jeans are stretchy and comfy, and I might have been able to size down. For the pink jeans, I ordered petite so I could have ankle length. So I ordered a 27P and a 28P to see. I’m sure I just confused you more!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Cindy Beck says
Haha….no confusion at all. Thanks for the help.
Shawna says
Hi Shaefer! Question about the Stella and Dot engravable necklace… I have one with my 3 kiddos’ initials and my mom loves it and would adore one with her 10 grandkids’ initials but I can’t figure out how to add more than 4 initials. Do you have a secret? 🙂 Thanks!
Sheaffer says
I love that, Shawna!!! So sweet! I think I can help! When you choose the necklace and a bunch of different fonts pop up in different boxes…. choose the box with the big S on the top row….. or the box on the second to bottom row that looks like 2 Ss. Hope this helps! Xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Shawna says
Oh yay!!! That works! I couldn’t for the life of me figure that out. Thank you! 🙂
Jeanie says
Psst. Come closer, I want to tell you a secret. I bought that bell-sleeve poplin top in pink last week at Nordstrom Rack for $12.97.
Josie says
This is so random but the pattern on your china pitcher looks just like a set of china I inherited from my grammy — it’s the same color scheme, and each piece has a different English castle on it. I had no idea there were pieces like that out there! So cool to see!
