Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!

First up today, I have an announcement to make.  Gather round ladies, cause it’s a big one.  My MUST HAVE boots are NOW ON SALE!  FOR $20 OFF!  I named them a MUST HAVE in January of this year….and I love them even more after having owned them almost a year now.

Okay, so let’s talk about the boots and what color mine are. This is complicated, so pay attention! 🙂 When I ordered mine last year the website said they were “cookie dough”….but when they arrived, they were MUCH darker than the “cookie dough” boots on the site. MUCH DARKER. So, I didn’t think what I received was “cookie dough”, but I liked them so much I kept them anyway.

Here I am in an outfit with the boots.  This outfit was from my 8 Outfit Ideas for Thanksgiving post.

If you want to look a little more styled and put together on Thanksgiving day, this outfit might be right up your alley.  It contains a $19 tee from the BP department (which I shop A LOT), and the suede drape front jacket doesn’t feel like a jacket at all.  It feels like a buttery layer that is soft, stretchy, and keeps you warm.  But it’s definitely jacket-like.  Jacket-ish if you will.  All you really need to know is that it’s awesome.  I did have a couple of readers ask me if it was just an outside jacket, or if it could be worn inside too.  I wear this jacket more like a cardigan, and wear it both outside AND inside.  Hope this helps!

As you can see, the tee is longer than a regular t-shirt and looks great out.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the tee, a medium in the jacket, and a 27 in the jeans.

My favorite thing from this week is definitely this video of my little man.  Chris surprised him last week with tickets to the OU/TCU game in Norman, and my goodness did they have a blast.  I posted a video on instagam earlier this week, and I promise you, seeing it will bring a smile to your face.  Chris and I have watched it over and over, and we might have even shed a tear a time or two!  Click HERE to see the video for yourself!

This guy prefers me not to work.  Ever.  Whenever there is a computer in my lap, he likes to replace it with his head. Charlie is a Mama’s boy. #andilikeit  And for the record, Buddy is totally a Daddy’s boy.

Every year in November, Nordstrom reaches out and asks if I’d like to offer suggestions for Christmas gifts for our guys.  I’ve shared my ideas the past several years, and y’all always seem appreciative, so I’m partnering with them again this year.  Some of these items are going to be familiar (I include items that are the biggest hits every single year), but I’ve added some new suggestions as well.  Ones that Chris personally owns and that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for gift giving (because they are his faves) follow……#3, #6, #7, and #9.

1) cotton and cashmere v neck – This sweater comes in 5 colors total.  It’s soft, lightweight, and great for layering.

2)  Better sweater zip front jacket – This one zips all the way down, so it’s more like a jacket than a pullover.  It’s another great option for Patagonia lovers.

***  3)  Patagonia quarter zip pullover – I would say this is Chris’s favorite piece of winter clothing by far.  It keeps him warm, without being bulky, and it just looks great.  It can be worn just about everywhere…..to a football game, to a party, to church, everywhere!  This is a perfect gift for guys of ALL ages:  dads, grandpas, sons, uncles, brother in laws, boyfriends….seriously EVERYBODY!  Chris loves it for the function, but I love it for how cute he looks in it!

4) Mavi relaxed fit jeans  – Chris only wears relaxed fit jeans because he always needs the additional room for his thighs.  These Mavi ones have a really good amount of stretch in them, and lots of reviewers mentioned their comfort.

5) fleece lounge pants – I want to buy these for Chris.  And then after I do, I want to wear them.

***  6) Ugg slippers – These slippers have 1,505 5 star reviews, and they are incredibly comfy and warm. That’s all you need to know.  Oh wait, they have rubber traction on the bottom, so they can easily be worn outside to the mailbox, to get the newspaper, etc.  I wear the ladies’ version while walking the dogs and all day long when I’m at home.

***  7) Bose speaker – I talk about this in pretty much every single men’s post I do, and I will continue to do so, because it’s the BEST. GIFT. EVER.  Chris takes his speaker everywhere and can play the music off of his phone anywhere!  We use it on the porch at the ranch house, we take it to the neighbor’s when we get in their pool, and it’s great for when you’re grilling out!  It makes an awesome gift that so many guys would be thrilled to get.

8) buffalo check shirt – Cute and festive!

***  9)  E- tip gloves  – Special fabric/technology in the gloves allows for the person wearing the gloves to both keep their hands warm AND access technology!  It’s awesome to be able to text and operate your mobile device while wearing these gloves!  These are also great for all ages!

10) Patagonia waterproof vest  – Chris doesn’t wear vests, but I love a guy in a Patagonia vest.  Maybe I should just get it for him for Christmas!  I really like the popped collar, and I just think they make a guy look totally put together.

11) wood and slate bottle opener  – So I picked this item for the collage late last week….and when I went to grab the link yesterday, there was a very unfavorable review that had been left.  So………even though it’s cute, I don’t want to recommend it anymore just in case the comment is spot on.  Sorry, y’all!

This next one doesn’t really need any words….just a screen shot of a text my sister sent me last week.   Looks to me like we might all need to try this lash enhancing serum.  In addition to my sister’s glowing recommendation (via her picture below!), the online reviews are also fantastic.

I used the Rodan and Fields serum for several months and was very pleased with the results…but Conner’s results are BEYOND!!!!!  I continue to use the Dior Maximizing lash primer right before I put on my mascara, so I can’t wait to see what the Nuelash and the lash primer will do together!

The Manda Strong Foundation’s 1st Annual 5K and Fun Run was this past weekend, and it was a huge success!  I was so proud of Manda’s family and my friends that are on the board.  They put on a wonderful event and raised a lot of money and awareness.  The first family they are helping is a sweet mama who found a lump when she was nursing her youngest child.  I’m so grateful that this family is going to have the support of the Manda Strong foundation.  At the end of the event I gave Manda’s mom a huge hug and told her I knew that Manda was so proud and she agreed.  My precious, courageous, and faithful friend was smiling all day on Saturday, so proud of all of her favorite people.

My friend Tina (along with her hubby and another couple) just opened Lone Star Mercantile in Allen at Custer and McDermott.  I haven’t been yet, but as soon as I saw the pictures of the space on facebook, I have been so excited to go!  My friend’s hubby and the other hubby did all of the work themselves and it was truly a labor of love.  Y’ALL!!!!  LOOK HOW FABULOUS THE SPACE IS!!!  (You can find them on facebook and instagram @lsmercantile.)

They are having a fun event on November 28th with wine, snacks, sales, and prizes!  Grab a girlfriend and go!

I have the turtleneck tunic on the left in black and LOVE IT. Got it last year in black, and it just popped up on the site in this beautiful camel color! I scooped it up! If you are going to wear it with leggings, order your regular size (mine is a small). If you are just going to wear it with jeans, size down.

Make sure you size down in the leggings! At 5’4″, I have the Petite Small, and I think the XS Petite might be even better for me, but they are sold out in XSP.  Still fully stocked in regular sizes! These leggings are fantastic.
