So one of my new favorites is definitely my WHITE STUD EARRINGS!
And yes…these are the $8 ones….and now they are in white!
I posted about them on facebook a couple of weeks ago (more on that in a minute), but they hadn’t made it to the blog yet, so today is the day!
I love all of my $8 studs, but these might be my favorite to date.
They really POP against my dark hair (right Bee?!?)  and they are just so bright and crisp!

I scheduled a post for them on facebook to go live at like 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon, which is kind of a random time. Well, I took Carter and Smith to the movies and forgot I had even scheduled it.  When I got home, my facebook had BLOWN UP!

Who knew a pair of $8 earrings would create so much fanfare?!?

So this is what the facebook post said:

So here’s a fun little story for you. You ladies know how much I love the $8 studs from BP at Nordstrom! Well, after posting about them several times I received an e-mail from one of the BP buyers telling me THANK YOU for posting about their earrings!   AWESOME!  The e-mail also asked if there were any other colors I would like to see. I named several fall colors (think mustard and cranberry!), but I also said I would love a real true white (not an ivory…but a white).
 And look! Now there’s white! Let’s all act for a minute like I’m a jewelry designer now. 
They sent them to me a couple of weeks ago, and they hit the site yesterday!
 I absolutely LOVE the crisp and bright white!


And just an idea: I don’t know if y’all do this or not…but I like to give teacher gifts the first week of school. Just a little “THANKS for teaching my kid, I know it’s going to be a long year with all these crazies, but I appreciate you” gift.

I got an e-mail from a sweet reader (thanks McKenzie!) with this picture of her adorable son with earrings for his teachers after she read the post!  SO CUTE!

I have ordered about 16 pairs of the BP earrings now. Some for me and some for gifts. They are the perfect quick, keep on hand gift for teachers, babysitters, activities teachers (swimming and gynmastics), and “oh crap! I need a bday gift for tonite” gift. Speaking of teachers…
I’ve been getting lots of requests from teachers for a BACK TO SCHOOL post for items that work well for teachers!
I love the idea of dedicating an entire post to TEACHER ESSENTIALS, and I hopefully will be able to get an entire post together soon….but I knew immediately that that I wanted to talk about a couple of pairs of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE flats.
And since the start of another school year is just around the corner, I thought I would go ahead and talk about the two that immediately popped into my head.

They are the Vince Camuto Ellen flats and the
Sam Edelman Felicia Flats.
I have the Ellen flats in the bisque patent and the Felicia flats in the leopard.
If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile now, you have seen them in TONS of looks.  I would say they are the two most worn shoes in my closet.

These flats are TRIED AND TRUE!
 I’ve had them both for over 2 years, I’ve walked all up and down school halls myself in them, and I’ve had MANY MANY MANY teachers echo my feelings. I promise you can wear these flats ALL DAY LONG walking to specials, walking to lunch, walking to recess….walking and walking and walking…and standing all day and teaching.

So the Vince Camuto Ellen flats are the first ones we are going to talk about.
I mostly wear my bisque patent flats in the spring and the fall.  But I’ve also worn them in the summer with shorts as well as on mild winter days with ankle jeans and cords.  They actually are a year round shoe.  They are quite comfy, and I love how the patent just wipes off when dirty.The first review on the Nordstrom website says the following:

I purchased these shoes roughly three months ago for a reliable work flat. Best purchase I’ve made in a while. I have been through several nude flats and have had to replace all of them because they were so uncomfortable but not these. I wear them almost every day, Monday-Friday, for 9 hours a day with no blisters, no rubbing, and cushion on the bottom. The simple color and style goes with everything from work pants to dresses and even jeans. I will be buying the exact same shoe when I wear these flats out!


And this year they came out with some new colors including a nude leather (in case you aren’t a fan of the patent) that looks great!  And I’m personally dying over the new metallic.

The leopard Felicia flats are my other go to.  
I don’t wear them in the summer because of the calf-hair texture, but I wear them the rest of the year.

and that is worth a little bit of extra cash!



In store, Nordstrom has MANY COLORS of the Felicia flat available.  Right now, only a handful of the colors appear online , but I’m guessing that the others will follow.

These shoes are STUPID comfortable.  I mean, the Vince Camuto flats are comfortable, but these are STUPID comfortable.  They are basically one step away from feeling like house shoes.
Some say they are true to size, some say to size up (for both the solid colors and the leopard).
I’m sometimes a 6, more often a 6 1/2, and the 6 1/2s are perfect on me.

Since not all colors are online yet at Nordstrom, I did find all of the colors at Zappos, which has free shipping and returns as well!

Fantastic Shoe!!!!

I love this shoe!! I have never had a flat that has been so comfortable from the first time I put it on! There was no “break in” period needed and I have received so many compliments on them. I recommend these shoes highly!! I am going to buy another pair in a different color…………..please try them you’ll be very happy you did.

These flats are a little pricey, but if you read the reviews, people say that they are totally worth it, and I would have to agree.

In my opinion, leopard flats are a WARDROBE NECESSITY.
You seriously won’t believe how they will jazz up just about any outfit.

This furry guy is definitely a favorite.  😉
Scout is the absolute sweetest dog on the planet, and his white face (he’s 11) makes me want to bawl my head off.
Seeing how much Carter loves him is something special and one of my favorite parts of each day is hearing Carter talk to Scout, tell him what a good dog he is, and tell him how much he loves him.
There really is something about a boy and his dog.

We’ve been having lots of playdates this summer, and  listening to the little conversations between Carter and his friends is one of my FAVORITE things to do!
Smith spent the entire day with us a couple of weeks ago when Ashby had her MRA, and the boys had a blast.  They even each got to pick out a toy at Target!
We also went to Fuddrucker’s and the movies.  It was a day packed with fun!
Luke came over last week, and after the boys spent quite a while building lots of different creations with Legos, they had to see if their creations would float!

We’ve spent a lot of time this summer in one of our neighbor’s pools, and it’s definitely been one of my FAVORITE parts of the summer.

So the fringe trend is another new favorite of mine.  I just think it’s fun!

On Wednesday night I posted THIS watch on facebook (on the left below) because
it went 55% OFF!  And y’all know a good deal is definitely a FAVORITE of mine.
I was at Nordstrom yesterday and wanted to try it on to show you girls, but they didn’t have the tortoise shell version in store.  They did have the mixed metals version in the store, so I tried it on to show you the size of the face and what it looked like on.  I loved it.
I loved the large face (39 mm), the bling around the face, and the size of the band in comparison to the face.

And last but not least, has anybody seen or tried on THIS dress?
I saw it on Pinterest, it’s from J. Crew Factory, and I’m mildly obsessed with it.
The only problem is that they don’t have it in petites, and I’m thinking it would be too long in the regular size.  If you have any experience with this dress, please leave your thoughts!

    Wow I need to they those flats! I'm a mom of 7 and homeschool so I'm on my feet all day long and even though I'm at home on carpet and rugs they still get tired and sore. I added them to my wish list to buy in the future. Right now I'm searching for a pair of gladiators in black to tone down the sweetness of a new skirt. The Steve maddens I want are sold out in my size. Any recommendations? I love the BP earrings. I now have 3 pair and want more. Just got the coral and they are beautiful. How fun that they contacted you! I'd love to see a mustard color!!! Hope they listen. Mustard goes with everything. Have a nice day.

I love the Vince Camuto patent bisque – they ROCK – and I've got the black patent in my cart (along with earings for my son's teacher – THANKS for that idea!) but I've been looking for some cute bright red flats and haven't had any luck.     I have two pairs of the Ellen flats and two pairs of the Felicia flats (the leopard and a cognac leather). I have my normal size in all but the cognac Felicia, those are 1/2 size down at the advise of the sales person. I am absolutely planning to order more pairs of both shoes!!!! I wear them to work, the grocery store, the park, the mall, etc. I will say that my nude Ellen flats aren't quite as comfy as the black Ellen flats I own. Not bad, just different. The leopard Felicia are my absolute, hands down favorite shoe I own.

    I'm a teacher & tried the Ellen on PTMT recommendation, but they just weren't padded enough for me so they went back. I love the Felicia though, & have them in black leather & leopard. The cushioned insole is wonderful for standing on hard linoleum all day! I would go a half size down in the leather because they stretch, but the leopard doesn't stretch at all so regular size would work fine. I wish they would last a little longer though-I wore my black leather ones constantly all year, but they are wearing out so I will probably have to replace them this year. Then again, I wear them much longer and harder than most, so for most people they will probably last multiple seasons!

    I have to tell you that I was reading a little too quickly and thought your first sentence read "So one of my nephews is definitely my WHITE STUD EARRINGS!" and was giggling that a) you had decided the earrings were boys and b) claimed them as your nephews. I was a little disappointed when I read the real sentence! ha!

    Do those earrings ($8 studs) contain nickel? I can't usually wear cheapies but LOVE them (and the price) but don't want to get something that will cause my ears to hurt within an hour of putting them in. HELP!

      I don't know if they do either, but I have very sensitive ears, as well…and they do not bother me at all! I get so many compliments. Great news…if they did bother your ears, Nordstrom takes them back!!!

      I think they probably do…I can only wear them for one day in a row bc they start to hurt my ears (while the real Kate Spade ones do not). They are so cute and the price is great, though, so I still wear them…sparingly 🙂

    Love your blog!! I just got my first set of earrings (ivory) love them. I am a single mom with a daughter heading to college in 2 years so I am on a very tight budget. I just ordered my second set (coral). My plan is to order a set a week (after skipping a lunch to justify, a slave to fashion knows no sacrifice is too great). Just received my Nordstrom debit and needed to try it out and with free shipping? No brainer. Anyway I cannot always afford everything but love your tips and lower price options. Thank you so much for your legwork!

    I just got my first St. Anne tote and actually got the diaper bag version. I don't have babies any more but I'm still carting around water bottles and other things for my kids and I love the extra pockets the diaper bag version offers. I also love that it looks exactly the same as the regular St. Anne tote. . .not diaper bag-ish. Thanks for the recommendation!

    As a teacher, I would love to see a post dedicated to fashion for teachers. I find it so hard to find cute outfits that are dressy, but not too dressy and something you can wear while working with kids (bending over them, sitting on the floor, standing outside at recess, etc.). I also now need to buy that Nantucket bag as my new teacher bag for the school year. Oh and if a kid brought me those earrings, I might just declare that kid my favorite for the entire year 😉

    I am curious if you have any Tieks and if so how do they compare in comfort to the flats you love above….I know there is a big difference in price which has me really interested in your favorites!

      I have 2 pairs of Tieks. The company sent me both pair, and I do love them! I don't link them very often because I know they are more expensive than most want to spend. I think that people who have feet problems REALLY LOVE THEM. I think they are comfy, but I've had comments from women who can never find comfy flats that say these are a game changer for them. So, I think those that have problems love them even more than the rest of us. Does that make sense? xoxo, Sheafffer 🙂

    Which shoe, Ellen or Felicia, comes up higher on the top of the foot? I have some discoloration from scar tissue that I like to try and hide on the tops of my feet and I can't tell from the pictures which one would cover more.

    I am a middle school teacher in new York City and have all the flats you mentioned. they really are stupid comfortable and work with everything I own. I am thinking it might be time to add a bag to my collection. I love the earrings as well and wear them everyday. I give them as gifts to my coworkers.

      Hi Kellee! So sorry, but it's a couple of years old! I got it for Christmas two years ago….it was by Rebecca Minkoff. I LOVE the way it looks, but all of the hardware on it makes it VERY heavy before you even put anything in it! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

    TJMaxx online has a very similar dress to the JCrew one. You can't search by name brand but if you put in 'tencel dress' it will bring it up. It is the Kenneth Cole Reaction Collarless Popover Dress in olive, it comes in an XS. It runs short so I think it would look perfect on you!!

    I have the Jcrew Factory dress, ordered it as soon as i saw it. I am 5 foot 2 and i just got a small and if fits perfect ( i have pretty big hips too). Not too long. Its loose, and i think would look great with a belt. Perfect for now and fall.
