Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know about some of my favorite things!

Everybody should start out their Friday with some puppies, don’t ya’ think?  Look at these two.  They like snuggling so much, they were still trying to cuddle up on their wayyyyyy too small bed.  Luckily, they’ve got a new one now!  To keep up with them (and to see them on their new bed), head over to @ourgoldenpups on instagram!

Chris and Carter always wanted 2 dogs, but I was always adamant that it wasn’t even an option.  I had a 100% change of heart several weeks before we were supposed to get Buddy, and I’m so happy that I did!

And check out these guys.  Carter loves both of the pups so much, and he is great about giving them each individual attention.  Here he is getting some 1:1 time with Buddy.  🙂

Carter turned 9 last weekend.  NINE.  We can hardly believe it!  We celebrated his birthday with a small group of friends and family at Top Golf on Friday night and had a great time!

Okay, girls.  It’s September.  And you know what that means?  It’s time to break out the slow cooker!  On the days I throw dinner in the crock pot in the mornings and come home to a yummy smelling house with dinner ready, I feel like I could solve all the world’s problems.  I mean, dinner is READY at 4:00….how hard could it really be to balance the budget?  😉

When the temperature cools off, I love wearing dresses with boots.  And great news!  LOFT dresses are 40% OFF right now! I originally ordered a Medium Petite in the floral dress below, and it just hung on me like a potato sack.  I had pretty much just written it off as just not working, but when I was taking it back, the lady that was helping me suggested that she order it for me in a smaller size because it could ship to me for free.  I’m so glad she talked me into it, because I love it!

At almost 5’4″, I’m wearing a Small Petite.  I wouldn’t suggest ordering a petite unless you are under 5’4″.  Even on me, it’s close to being too short, but I wouldn’t want it any longer, so I’m keeping the petite!

The dress is fully lined and I love the flounce detail on the hem and the sleeves.  The material and the pattern make it very versatile.  I love it with tall boots (seen below), and it would also look great with a long cardi thrown over it, and maybe even a denim jacket.  If you wanted to wear it in warmer months, it would also look great with my block heel sandals or my peep toe booties!

Technically, the dress has a navy background, but it could totally pass for black, which is why I’m wearing it with my black leather Sam Edelman Yaro ankle strap sandals.  For the record, it would look even better with the Oatmeal Suede version.  I recommend pairing the dress with a pair of gold earrings like THESE (ON SALE).

Did you see my post on Wednesday?  I shared some fall favorites from some of the Nordstrom house brands, and this peplum tee was at the top of the list!  I showed you several looks with different colors of the tee, but I’ve got another one to show you today.

So I know everybody talks about the “little black dress”, but last year I became a big believer in the LITTLE WHITE DRESS!  This one caught my eye online, and I grabbed it!  I love how crisp and white it is, but it’s not stiff at all.  It’s a very comfortable and relaxed fabric. You can see that it’s lined (hooray!), except for the bottom couple of inches of the dress.  I like the contrast it provides when the lining stops.  This dress would be great for brides for a shower or bachelorette party!

For size reference, I’m wearing a small, so it was true to size for me.  If you don’t have a large chest, you can probably size down.  When wearing a shift dress, sometimes I wear a small and sometimes I wear a medium.

Finally today, I want to share some perspective from my friend Jamie again.  I first talked about Jamie HERE when I shared that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was blogging about it her journey.  She wrote a really beautiful post on Misplaced Hope earlier this week, and I have no doubt that her words will speak to many of you that are going through your own trials right now.

Even if you aren’t going through a difficult time, you should still make time to read it today.  She talks about some other bad news she has recently received, and how she is keeping her eyes fixed on Him through it all.  Jamie is a relatively new friend to me (we’ve only known each other about 2 years or so) but I am so proud to know her.  She wants to share her love of the Lord with everybody, and I have no doubt her actions during her own personal trials are ministering to all who know her and read her story.  This girl is bringing people to Jesus!  Love you, Jamie!  xoxo
