It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know about some of my favorite things!
In my effort to continue highlighting different ways to help the people in Houston and the surrounding areas, today I’m going to provide a way that you could help one specific family.
The mama of this family happens to be one of my sister’s very best friends. Lindsay, her husband, and her 3 boys (all under 7) lost everything as a result of Hurricane Harvey. EVERYTHING. They lived in a 1 story home that took on almost 4 feet of water, so virtually nothing is salvageable. They of course feel so blessed that their family is safe, but they are devastated that their beloved family home is a total loss.
Click HERE if you want to read a bit more about their family. If you feel led to donate, that would of course be amazing!
This is their house. It’s just so incredibly heartbreaking. I know so many people are in this same situation, but if you don’t know anybody personally affected and are looking for a specific way to help, Lindsay’s family would be so appreciative.
I’ve been keeping up with Lindsey via facebook, and she wrote this late last week: We went by boat and waded through 4 ft of sewage flood water to save pictures, and the picture that Brady and Grey drew right before baby Whit arrived into this world was well worth it! This is what we direct our focus to tonight as we sit in our apartment and mourn the loss of our home! It’s been the toughest week of our lives thus far but I still have all my boys! God is good!

Did y’all see my post on Wednesday where I talked about Colleen Rothschild and Barrington bags? Well, I reached out and asked if they would donate some skincare (she can choose 3 items) and a tote bag (she can choose the Savannah or the St. Anne and design it herself) to Lindsay, and they were 100% on board! They said they would also be glad to do the same for another reader who was in a similar situation. So, if you’ve been affected by Hurricane Harvey, or if you know somebody affected, please nominate them and/or yourself. Just leave a comment below saying who you are nominating, and I will pick a winner with a random number generator and announce the other recipient on Monday’s post.
Brands that give to people in need are my FAVORITE.
*USE THE CODE STMT20 – valid for 20% OFF regular-priced Colleen Rothschild items through 09/13/2017
*USE THE CODE STMTSAVE10 for 10% OFF your Barrington purchase!

As always, I HAVE to share a picture of the pups on Friday Favorites! These two are always either snuggled up together while sleeping, or they somehow manage to become a mirror image of each other. We love these two furry guys so much! I mean, they look like an ink blot picture! Remember, you can follow along with them on instagram @ourgoldenpups!
I had a couple of people e-mail me to ask me where the pups stayed when we were in Florida. Well, since they weren’t 4 months old yet (and hadn’t had all of their vaccinations), we couldn’t board them. We didn’t want them to stay with family yet because puppies are hard, y’all! 🙂 I had a friend tell me about Rover, and we were sooooo pleased with how well they were cared for! Have you heard of Rover? It’s an app you can download, and after plugging in your address, Rover caregivers that are in your area will pop up for you to check out. They have pictures, what types of services they provide, and reviews all at your fingertips. We found a provider that fit our needs (she was at home during the day and able to give frequent potty breaks), and she was only a little over a mile from our home! They offer all types of services.
I was a nervous mama leaving them, but our Rover caregiver sent us texts and pictures throughout our time away, which really put me at ease.
Click HERE if you would like a $20 credit for your first booking! If you book a service through my referral code, I get a $20 credit as well. This is not a sponsored post, we just loved the service and wanted to share!

I found a new dress that’s a definite favorite. AND GET THIS. It’s $46.
I’m a big fan of a shift dress. They almost always flatter me, and I think they are actually universally flattering for all body types. On this particular dress… I like the neckline, the sleeve length, the overall cut and fit, and I love that it comes in so many colors to choose from. (The black doesn’t need a slip, but I can’t speak to the other colors. I imagine the lighter colors might require a slip.) It can be dressed up or down, and would look great with just about any type of footwear.
It says a medium is a 7-9, so I got a medium. (I don’t think I’ve ever been a 3-5 in a dress.) I definitely needed a medium in the chest, or else I’m afraid it would have pulled. I would have preferred a small for a bit more of a fitted look throughout the body, and I would also prefer the length to be a bit shorter….but I’m still keeping it. #becauseitsawesome
The peep toe booties I will probably wear with it were behind closed doors with sleeping puppies, but I think they will pair nicely with it during early fall. I’ll also be wearing these block heel sandals with the dress as well! These black ankle strap sandals would also look great with it!

The rest of today’s favorites are items you’ve previously seen on the blog that are now either BACK IN STOCK or NOW ON SALE!
Like THIS TOTE! It’s NOW ON SALE for just UNDER $25!!!!!
cardigan / tee / necklace / similar white jeans / tote / peep toe booties
And here I am carrying the tote.
***
The super popular square faced watch is back in stock! And the watch and the bracelet are BOTH ON SALE!
Actually, all Kate Spade jewelry is ON SALE! Including my abalone studs and my mini glitter studs (these make amazing birthday and Christmas gifts)!
***
This sweater is back (not in the grey stripe), but in several other colors! AND IT’S ON SALE!
I mean, this sweater would be cute hanging on the back of a chair. For size reference, I sized up to a medium in the sweater. I actually really liked the way the small fit…except for the fact that it pulled across the back where the lace pleat is. If you don’t have a large chest, I would recommend sticking to your regular size.
lace back sweater /favorite $12 cami / grey skinny ankle jeans / plus size jeans / teardrop earrings / $18 necklace / watch / bracelet / booties

The tunic isn’t cheap, and it’s not on sale, but it is BACK IN STOCK! And it’s definitely a special piece. And I’m willing to pay extra for special. It’s dry clean only, so don’t bother with it if you aren’t willing to head to the cleaners with it. This is not a piece that I would risk laundering on my own.
For size reference, I’m wearing a small, which is true to size for me. It’s very loose and flowy, and it’s long enough for leggings (depending on your height, of course)! TOTAL SCORE! If you are just planning on wearing it with jeans, you might be able to get away with sizing down 1 size if you don’t want it quite so loose. Also, I’m not wearing a cami in the picture below, but I will in the future just so I won’t have to worry about if the v-neck is getting too low throughout the day.
free people tunic / necklace / teardrop earrings/ must have leggings / similar boots
So…..I tried something for the first time in my entire life this week. And now it’s a favorite.
Wait for it.
Nutella.
Narci and I were at the mall. There’s a new crepe stand at the mall. While we were eating our tacos, there were pictures flashing up of their different crepes on the side of their stand. I casually mentioned that I’d never had Nutella before when a Nutella crepe popped up….and before I knew it, we were eating this….
Y’all. Nutella is good. #iknowimsuperlatetotheparty
I found Barefoot Dreams hoodies for 61% OFF! There are 5 colors ON SALE…but sizes are going fast! Hurry! Click HERE for ALL of the Barefoot Dreams items included.
Lots of Articles of Society jeans are on super sale. Click HERE to see them all! This dark wash pair looks perfect for fall and winter! You can also find tons of Vince Camuto bags for 50% OFF!
Have a wonderful weekend with your people, and I’ll see you back here on Monday!
Beth Schneider says
Our sweet friends-the Yoses-were completely flooded during the storm, but their attitude and faith remain strong. Roxanne Yose would be a great recipient of the giveaway.
Erika Slaughter says
How in the world are you just now trying Nutella? You’ve been missing out, Sheaffer!! And that picture of your puppies is cute!!
Shay Shull says
1. The puppies need their own blog. I would read it every day. 2. That outfit with the leggings is SO CUTE!! 3. How in the world have you not had Nutella until this week? It’s a staple over here. Like water.
Mary says
I just bought all the girls in my family a BFD hoodie for Christmas. Thanks for the alert–what a deal!
Dawn Gorence says
i am a Rover caregiver! The extra money that I make pays for all of the things that Sheaffer tells me to buy:)
Nikki Merritt says
I’d like to nominate Mary Elizabeth Sylvester for the Colleen Rothschild/Barrington offer. She and her family live in Kingwood and we’re rescued by boat when the water rose in their home. She has somehow remained positive and been a blessing to others as she works to put her own life back together.
sydnee says
Love your pups, especially those pics of them twinning!

Narci says
Listen: our lunches may never be the same now that the crepe stand is open. So glad we were able to rectify the whole Nutella thing. I am still in shock it took you so long!
Erica L says
I would like to nominate my friend Michelle whose home flooded in the Harvey rains in Houston last week. I know she would love a Barrington bag and some skincare!
Meagan says
What a generous thing to offer one of the Harvey victims. Honestly, I have too many to name that have lost everything or almost everything. Christina, Jennifer, Erica, Roxy, Amy, Stefanie, Amanda, Connie, Misty, Kathy, Melinda, and a handful of others. If this entry was lucky enough to be chosen, I’d put all their names in a hat! xo
Hollie says
Hi Sheaffer! Yes(!) to Rover. We previously used DogVacay, which merged with Rover. It’s an excellent service. We have been fortunate enough to find a wonderful family that our dogs stay with when we travel as well as someone who will stay with our pups at our house on other occasions. Our dogs are (a bit) spoiled so it makes me so happy knowing that they are comfortable either at home or with their second family while we’re away.
Melissa Terry says
The crepe looks so yummy! We just moved to the DFW area in the late spring so my boys and I ventured out one day this summer to Playstreet in McKinney and stopped at your mall (because…Nordstrom). The taco restaurant in the food court blessed my life. So yummy!!! Next time I’ll have to check out a crepe too ; )
Keisha Dawson says
Thank you so much for sharing your Rover experience and for the credit! We had looked into using them for an upcoming trip, and this just sealed it for me.
Rebecca Brittain says
Excellent finds! I love the floral tunic and necklace combo on you. Chic and flattering. As a Houstonian, I appreciate you sharing the family in need who lost everything to the flood. So many people need help and it’s concerning that some get lost in the masses.
Julie says
Were there bananas in that crepe too? I’m telling you, Nutella and bananas is the closest thing you’ll get to heaven on this earth. And if the crepe is warm and you have a scoop of really good vanilla ice cream with it…
Sheaffer says
Hi, Julie! I cut the bananas. There are only a handful of things I won’t eat, and bananas are one of them!
cassie {Hi Sugarplum} says
I am so so sorry for your sister’s friend!! This particular event is so hard because as Texans, we know so many people in that area that were directly impacted!! It’s not just some horrible news event we’re watching on TV…my heart breaks for all of them. We’ll continue to give and volunteer, in hopes our tiny contribution helps! Also, that dress is perfection, and we need more puppy pics!
Katie says
I love that you are highlighting Houston. My family moved to League city (east of Houston) a year ago pregnant with a 2 year old for my husbands job with the Coast Guard. We lost nearly everything in the floods but much like everyone else we just feel insanely lucky to safe and healthy. We celebrated my daughters 4th birthday amongst boxes and tubs as we tried to see what was salvageable and are now staying in an airbnb while trying to desperately find a house to move into. The rain had stopped, the sun is shinning and we’re working as fast as possible to make this all a distant memory!
Sheaffer says
Oh my goodness, Katie. I’m so sorry. You are now entered into the bag and skincare drawing as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. xoxo, Sheaffer
Barbara Ahlrichs says
Hi, I love the Free People tunic but it seems to be sold out.
Do,you have any information if it might be restocked? So disappointing!
I have so many pieces you have shown over the past 1 1/2 years, it has really helped me learn how accessories can transform an outfit
Thank you
Barbara
Sheaffer says
Hi, Barbara! They switched the link on me! I updated it, and it’s now showing as available! Yay!!! Thanks for reading and for the sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Barbara Ahlrichs says
THANK YOU!! I read your reply and went right to the website and there it was! It was on back order until October but I won’t wear it until then or later anyway! I am so excited….thank you for your help.
Barbara
Amy says
Hi! So, what do you think of Arie Luyendyk Jr being announced as the next Bachelor???
Sheaffer says
I! AM! PUMPED!
Susan Litts says
We have so many friends that have lost everything from Harvey and don’t have flood insurance. We have been trying to do whatever to help, but when you lose everything it’s impossible to make it all better. One sweet lady from our church is fighting cancer and lost it all. Another family just moved into their brand new house (without insurance) and lost it all. It’s heartbreaking. These are just two of the thousands of families dealing with this tragedy.
Nikki Merritt says
I’m back to nominate two other friends for the giveaway … Stacey Butler and Marie Wehrung. They’re both friends from Palmer Church near the medical center and had severe damage from Hurricane Harvey. Thank you!
KayVonne says
I had never heard of Rover until I read your blog today. I have downloaded the app. It will put my mind at ease when I travel. Thank you!!!
Lisa Richardson says
We have friends who were affected in Kingwood. They lost the entire downstairs of their home and their mini-van that the water had gotten to deep to drive through. They have 4 precious kids under 7. No flood insurance. UGH. Her name is Heather and I’d love for her to win a nice pick me up! Thanks for doing this Sheaffer. Now onto my next thought…How have you never tried Nutella???? GET SOME NOW and put it in your pantry. It’s delicious on everything, but a spoon with half Nutella and half peanut butter is AWESOME!!! Happy Weekend!
Penny Sheehan says
I am so sad for your friend. I’ve never been in that situation but it must be awful
I’d like to nominate my friend Laura. She and her husband lost their home and belongings. They are in an apt and trying to make the best of the situation.
