Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know about some of my favorite things!

This guy is definitely a favorite, and my heart could absolutely burst with pride.  I can’t believe how quickly 2nd grade has flown by, and it makes me realize that he will be off to college in the blink of an eye.  I am going to soak him in this summer, and we are just going to have the best time!

Also at the top of my favorites list today is what happened last Thursday. Erika’s family brought Britt home!  Terminal D was absolutely BURSTING with love and support, and I’m so happy I got to be there!  Having so many friends listen to and respond to God’s call for adoption in their lives makes me so incredibly proud.

We headed to the ranch last weekend with family and friends, which is always a favorite for us.  I love that the ranch forces me to slow down and just spend time with my people.

I’ve received several e-mails lately asking for shorts recommendations that aren’t denim shorts.  WELL!  I’ve found a great pair!  These are 5 1/2 inches (although they don’t feel that long on), so they are longer like many of you have been looking for (but not too long).  They are cotton twill “with a hint of stretch” and have great reviews.  Many reviewers have referred to them as “the perfect length”.  They come in several colors, and although the olive is my favorite…. So I showed y’all this top several weeks ago in my Spring and Summer tops post with denim shorts and sandals, and it’s definitely become a favorite.

Here I’ve dressed it up a bit with my blush jeans and wedges!  Sadly, the white clutch is sold out, but it does come in two other colorways.  The wood handle is so interesting, and I love the vintage look of it.

You can see my bra strap through the lace a bit (wearing my absolute favorite bra, of course)….however, since it’s nude, I felt like it looked totally okay (and was not very noticeable at all).   You would probably want to wear a strapless bra if you were wearing one of the other color tops including navy, a light blue, and a light coal.  Click HERE for my favorite strapless.

As a reminder, here’s what it looked like with denim shorts.  And great news!!!! The shorts have been restocked in all sizes!

This top definitely has that special feeling, but I think it still looks great with a casual outfit.  Size References:  I’m wearing a small in the tee and a 27 in the shorts, both true to size for me, but I liked these shorts slouchy.  If between sizes or you don’t like slouchy shorts, I would definitely suggest sizing down in the shorts.

I showed y’all this top with white jeans last week, but since it’s still on sale, I wanted to remind you that it looks great with grey jeans, and would of course look great with regular denim jeans too.  I’m wearing a small, so it’s true to size (but roomy).  If you want it more fitted, you might consider sizing down.  I’m wearing the pink crosshatch, but it also comes in coral, white, navy, and a light plum color.

Our front porch set up is a favorite little area of mine right now for sure.  Our spring and summer flowers are doing great, and the Adirondak chairs really cozy up the front porch.  I got my chairs a couple of years ago on Joss and Main, and you can still find similar ones HERE at lots of different price points and in many different colors.   And there are more chairs and some cute little tables to choose from over at One King’s Lane as well.  The red bucket is an old sap bucket, and it was one of my favorite purchases from when I went to Round Top last year!  The little stool was a HomeGoods find.

Around Christmas last year, a sweet reader e-mailed me to let me know about THIS devotional book that her husband had written for men.   Here’s what the author has to say about the book:   It is aimed at men who don’t know how to have a daily devotional.  Many men don’t journal, spend 30 minutes with the Lord, etc. and we are trying to meet them where they are and drip one value/thought a day into their life.  My hook is primarily sports stories, headlines, etc, but my heart is to instill vision into their lives to live to a higher standard, calling and purpose.  It literally will take men one minute a day.

I love the idea of men starting their day with a quick little read. I wore this outfit to church on Mother’s Day. Because sometimes I like to wear jeans to church.  Actually, I like to all the time.  😉  This top runs big, so I’m wearing an x-small.  It also comes in black and white.  You do have to wear a cami under it, but it looks great with the white peeking out under it!

The top is crisp, fresh, and the sleeves make it special!
