Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!

Let’s start off with a quick Get Healthy Update for y’all.  I’m still trucking along.  Working out 5/7 days a week with my neighbor (30 minute aerobic activity/strength training), drinking a ton of water, and eating healthy!  I’m weighing for the first time this morning because I’m ready to have a baseline to track pounds, instead of just going off how my clothes are fitting. (When I start seeing the numerical evidence of pounds leaving my body, I just get motivated and want to work harder!)  We did take measurements when we started, and we are taking those again today, so I’ll be have a measurements update for you next week!

Here’s a close up of the high waistband leggings.  I’m telling you right now…they are FANFREAKINGTASTIC.  I own two pair of them now, then ones you see below and THESE.  And even though I have several other Zella pants that are just the regular waist height, I’m only reaching for the high waisted pairs now.  In fact, I’ve done laundry just so I can wear them.  Which is what I did with my new favorite underwear until I had enough for a full week’s rotation.  🙂

So I received the sports bra I ordered last week (based upon several reader recommendations), and I’ve worn it for two high impact workouts now. I absolutely love it.  It’s incredibly comfortable, and still manages to be super supportive.  I could wear it all day with no problem, but it keeps the girls very still while jumping around like a crazy person.  Click HERE for the sports bra.

Here was one of my dinners this week.  We had eaten grilled chicken and veggies the night before, and I had Chris grill an extra chicken breast.  So, I made tacos for the boys, and I cut up 1/2 of the remaining chicken breast and threw together a taco salad.  The salad had lettuce, tomatoes, yellow and orange peppers, purple onion, 1/2 an avocado, shredded chicken, and several spoonfuls of Ranch Style Beans.  I added a small handful of the tortilla strips for crunch, and I really enjoyed the Salsa Verde Avocado dressing!

These boys are such sweet friends.   This is the first year for Carter to play soccer (except for that time when he was 3, and I’m not sure we can really call that “soccer”).  🙂  The team is playing great together and having a ball!

So last Friday I told y’all that I was going to the birthday party for Catherine’s stationary company, C Lowe.  I showed you a couple of outfits and asked you to take a vote on what I should wear.  The vote was close, but Outfit #1 won.

I made a couple of adjustments, but loved Outfit #1.  I changed out the earrings (the ones above weren’t showing up in my hair enough), and I switched out the black clutch for the animal print clutch.  The light is messing with the picture, but the top is definitely a navy (and not black like it appears).  The coated jeans were a big hit, and although quite expensive, I’m so glad I now have a pair in my closet that I can pull out for events like this!

We made it a fun girl’s night out of it, and we had a wonderful time.  Catherine did a fantastic job with the party!  The tacos were AMAZING, the door prizes and pinatas were awesome, and everybody was ready for a party!  #shehadmeattaco

Shay and I were standing in the taco line.  We both got Carnitas with some type of cole slaw on top.  YUM!

One of my favorite parts was the photo booth.  Although, I must say, my photo booth performance was less than impressive.  WHERE AM I LOOKING?   I mean, seriously.  In every pic I’m looking the opposite direction of the others.  #photoboothfail  🙂

Another favorite part was watching my friend Karla on the dance floor.  She got down with her bad self.

We danced, we ate, we had the signature drink (with pop rocks in it!)…and then we stopped at In N’ Out Burger on the way home!  #momsgonewild

How cute is this layered top?  It’s long sleeve, but the material isn’t thick, so it’s going to be the perfect piece for transitioning into spring.  On this particular day, it was pretty dang cold outside, so I wore it with my UGG slim profile boots.  However, it’s going to be super cute with my shoreline converse as well.  It also comes in a grey that I love.

Well, this is the third time I’ve worn it since last Thursday.  But don’t worry, I’ve seen different people each time.  😉 It’s soooooooooo cute and soooooooooo soft and soooooooo reasonable (now that it’s 40% OFF)!!!! SALE ALERTS!!!!

I ordered this blouse a couple of weeks ago because a reader sent me the picture of it she found online and asked me if I had ever tried it on.  I hadn’t, but it caught my interest (I loved the sheer sleeves and the dots), so I ordered it.  I’m not keeping it because I have a couple of other black blouses that are very similar (just without the dots).  However, if you don’t have a similar blouse, I highly recommend this one.  I love the cut, the fit, the tie neck, and the dot pattern.  Also, the bodice has a built in lining, so it doesn’t require a cami!  Only 2 sizes left as of last night.  I’m wearing a small, so it’s true to size.

I highlighted this layered sweater last month, and now it’s 40% OFF!  I think it’s great how it’s cut up high on the sides so it’s able to show off so much of the plaid underneath. I love the look of 2 pieces, but when I try to layer them on my own, I always end up feeling too bulky….so this sweater is all of the cuteness without any of the bulk!
