It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
FAVORITE #1: HAUTELOOK
Do y’all know about HauteLook? I’d heard the name before, but I’d never paid attention to what it was. When they reached out to me earlier this week to see if I wanted to partner up, I finally checked them out. AND GET THIS. They are a division of Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. I’m guessing lots of y’all already knew that. And I of course should have known that, but I didn’t. So what exactly is it?
Well…HauteLook is a members-only shopping website (you become a member by giving your e-mail and setting up a password! so easy and free!) that offers flash-sales and limited-time sales events with top brands in women’s and men’s fashion, jewelry, and accessories, beauty products, kid’s clothing and toys, and home decor. Read more about HauteLook HERE. They offer free shipping on purchases over $100, and they have easy 90 day returns either by mail or to any Nordstrom Rack store. If you return by mail, the shipping label is provided for you, but a $5.95 fee will be deducted from your refund.
So….how exactly does it work? Each day at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, you can log on and see new sale events! It’s so exciting because new items are popping up all the time, and the items are DEEPLY discounted….like sometimes up to 75% OFF! Now here’s the deal, with HauteLook you have to act fast, because these FLASH SALES only last 3 days and items pretty much fly off the shelves (especially in the popular sizes)! I think it is SO MUCH FUN to go on the hunt for such incredible deals! In addition to what’s currently on sale, if you scroll all the way to the bottom of this screen, you can see the brands that are coming up!
Just take a second, and hop over HERE and look around. You’ll see how events are separated by brand and/or category. There are actually lots of great bags HERE (many that I think look Rebecca Minkoffish, for a fraction of the price) and lots of great jewelry HERE.
I made a collage with some of my favorite items! And the prices are UNBELIEVABLE. Like, we’re talking $29.97 for the navy cross body and $25.97 for the bell sleeve top. #whoah
bell sleeve dress / caravana hoop earrings / fringe booties / rusted skinny jeans / bell sleeve top / drapey fatigue jacket / mustard denim jacket / bootcut jeans / navy cross body / green bead necklace / leather watch
All of the above items are also clickable below (and the prices are under the pictures!). A huge thanks to HauteLook for sponsoring this portion of the post!
FAVORITE #2: DRY NAILS
So this is something I learned a couple of years ago while clicking around on Pinterest. I talked about it on the blog awhile ago, but it’s definitely worth mentioning again! The basic idea is that you spray a light coat of Pam on your wet nails, and they will dry very quickly. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. I’m telling you, it works.
I would prefer for us not to talk about the fact that something that we cook our food with has the power to dry nail polish at lightning speed. Instead, let’s just talk about the amazingness of it all and the fact that YOUR NAILS WILL BE DRY. After like 23 seconds. Dry.
I paint my nails, spray on a light coat, let them be for like 60 seconds, and then wash off the Pam. That’s it!
FAVORITE #3: E-MAILS ABOUT BRA AND UNDIES
Whenever I recommend items that lots of you purchase…and that lots of you end up loving as well…I tend to get lots of e-mails about said items. Well, this has definitely been case for THIS BRA (3 colors ON SALE HERE!!!!!) and THESE UNDIES. I know some of you have continued to be on the fence about spending so much on undergarments, so here are just 2 of the e-mails I’ve received if you are still “doing your research” and trying to decide if it’s worth it.
Here’s an e-mail about THE UNDIES:
…. the Natori undies. Holy guacamole, these things must be made of one part angel wings and one part steel. They are unbelievably soft and comfy, yet they don’t move around at all! I wore them under the Wit and Wisdom jeans yesterday and people might have wondered why I couldn’t stop smiling! You know that feeling when you are sleeping and turn over but your undies stay behind and you have to wrestle them back in place? Maybe that’s just me, but not one bit of that last night… The only problem with them? I only bought one pair at the end of the Anniversary Sale because I was afraid I wouldn’t like them. I will be fixing that error soon! – Patty
Here’s an e-mail about THE BRA (3 colors ON SALE HERE!!!!!):
I’ve been a loyal follower of your blog for about 3 years now. I have MANY pieces that you have recommended. About a year ago I had a bra fitting at Nordstrom and found the Wacoal brand to be the best fit for me (I’m 36DD). So I bought 3 different colors. When you mentioned the Natori bra (like 3,000 times!) in my head I’m like ‘no way, Wacoal is the best’. However I did put the Natori nude 36DD in my cart anyway and it just sat there, until the last day of the sale when I finally bought it. And when it arrived this week…OH MY GOSH! I am in LOVE! Why did I ever doubt you, who knows? But I’m telling ya, it’s SO much more comfortable than the Wacoal which seems stiff to me compared to the Natori. The material is amazing. And it holds everything in place. Plus–BONUS–NO back fat peeking out from the back band. So I put on a white t shirt (which I would never wear before without a cami) and keep staring at my chest in the mirror….Ha! It looks THAT good! – Diana
Anyway girls, I’m not joking around when I say that this bra and these undies are LIFE CHANGING. They will make your daily life better. #SERIOUSLY And in case you already have the above one and are looking for another one, THIS one is just as wonderful! It might not be as pretty, but it certainly is just as comfortable!
FAVORITE #4: TOP GOLF WITH THE LITTLE FELLA
The last week of summer, the three of us headed up to Top Golf for a family fun day! We’ve been up a couple of times before, but the little fella is getting the hang of hitting a golf ball. We had a blast and are looking forward to doing it again soon!
FAVORITE #5: THE BUS!!!!!
This year the bus started coming to our neighborhood. We are less than a mile from the school, so I wasn’t sure if we were going to take advantage of it, but then I found out that the bus stop was pretty much on our corner. So I thought we would give it a try. AND OH MY WORD, I LOVE THE BUS! #thebusfreakingrocks
Luke and Carter! #sponsoredbyunderarmour
FAVORITE #6: ANN TAYLOR SALE
So, Conner (my little sister) has already been doing “research” 🙂 deciding what she wants to feature for next month’s installment of Conner’s Closet! (See her first WORK WEAR post HERE!) You are going to get to see some new things mixed with some old pieces, but you are also going to see THIS dress. It’s a dressing room pic she sent me last week from AnnTaylor. She popped in, tried several things on, and fell in love with this diagonal striped wrap dress. I am in love with the stripes, but if you want other choices, click HERE. My sister is only 5’2″, but she preferred the regular 0 (not the petite) for an appropriate office length. (Sometimes she’s wear petite, some she doesn’t…it just depends on the piece.) She’s wearing THESE shoes.
FAVORITE #7: SWAN CREEK CANDLE
See that candle burning? It makes me soooooooo happy. Like REALLLLLLLLLLY happy. I met my friend Jenny on the square earlier this week for lunch, and she said she had to swing by Doozie’s Corner to pick up a couple of candles. And as she was talking about the candle, I knew I had to try them for myself! First of all, they come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors of these cute little pots……AND THEY SMELL DIVINE. The aroma fills up the entire house, and they even smell great when not burning! The one burning in the picture is called “Honey Soaked Apples” and OMG. When the candles are gone, I have plans for planting little succulents in the precious little pots! Click HERE for their site! I can hardly wait to try other scents!
FAVORITE #8: THIS TOP!!!! Really, this whole outfit!!!
So THIS BLOUSE is fabulous. FABULOUS! I saw it online, and even though I was skeptical, I ordered it (and I’m so pleased that I did!)!
Do you see how it looks like I’m doing a 1/2 tuck in front? WELL, I’M NOT! It’s just how the blouse is made! AND IT’S GENIUS. Short and kind of twisted and drapey in the front and long in the back!!! I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size. It’s not see through, and you don’t have to wear a cami do to sheerness. Some have said they do wear a cami because they feel like the top is low on them and they need it. Personally, I don’t wear a cami. I ordered olive and navy as well. I’m only going to keep one, but I couldn’t decide!
Oh, and it doesn’t wrinkle AT ALL. LIKE AT ALL. I love it here with jeans, but it would also look great with nice work pants (like THESE )!
FYI: MY FAVORITE JEANS EVER are STILL ON SALE! And you can get 20% OFF your entire order (including the below necklace and bracelet) at Accessory Concierge with the code BACKTOSCHOOL20. They extended the code (thanks A.C.!), but it will end on Sunday. And fyi, shipping might take a little longer with the holiday weekend!
twist front blouse / necklace c.o. AC /leopard cuff c.o. AC/ AG jeans ON SALE / similar booties from same maker / earrings / taupe bag
See how the top is longer in the back? Again, I didn’t do anything to style this shirt…it’s just how it’s made!
And a close up of the leopard cuff. I. AM. OBSESSED. In fact there are SEVERAL different cuffs I’m obsessed with (love the antelope, the navy, and the camo)!!! Remember to use the code BACKTOSCHOOL20 for 20% OFF your entire purchase!
FAVORITE #9: ACCESSORY CONCIERGE CONTEST TO HONOR TEACHERS!
If you work in a school setting, don’t forget to enter the contest for the $50 Accessory Concierge gift card for you and up to 5 friends (your entire team) at school!
The contest is actually going on over on Facebook, so head over there to enter. FAVORITE #10: Y’ALL!
Because I can’t stand to end on #9. #andyoureallyaremyfavorites #notjustsayingthat
OH, WAIT! Let’s talk briefly about the NEW MARKDOWNS at Nordstrom! LOOK AT THESE PRICES!
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend with your friends and family! I hope to have a sales round up on Monday, so make sure you check back for that!
Narci says
First, my mind is BLOWN in regards to the Pam. Second, the bus rocks my socks off!! Also, I need to try that candle asap!!
Shay Shull says
So, now I need the wrap shirt, the leopard cuff and every single thing in the first graphic. Like yesterday.
Erika Slaughter says
I was wearing both the bra and undies yesterday when we met and I agree with both the readers…amazing!!
Jessica says
The cuff in antelope is EVERYTHING! Ordering it today!
Denise Long says
I work in an office environment, and I own 4 colors of that drape front blouse. I wear it with slacks and pencil skirts during the week, and I wear it with jeans on the weekend. It’s a great top! I think I’m going to have to add that necklace to my collection to wear with all the colors!
Margaret says
Do you dry clean the blouse, or is it safe to wash it in the washing machine?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Margaret! I will dry clean mine (because I just do)..but I know that MANY readers with other LUSH shirts say they wash and line dry their lush shirts with great success! I’m guessing this one would be the same! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Britt Hensley says
“Sponsored by Under Armor” is the story of my life! Love those fringe booties. Thanks for sharing!!
Lizzie @ This Happy Life says
I didn’t know Hautelook was a division of Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack either!
I was hesitant about the busy last year with my new Kindergartner but I quickly came over my fear and realized the bus is AMAZING!
Becca says
I’m so glad to see that you’ve discovered HauteLook! I thought you’d be super excited to know that Natori sales pop up every once in a while on the site, and just a few weeks ago I bought THE bra, in two different colors, for $29.97 apiece!! They were much needed as I’m currently in my second trimester of my first pregnancy, and my cup size has changed a bit, to put it mildly. So keep an eye out!
Sarah says
That bra is nothing short of amazing!
And I just added Pam to my grocery list 🙂
Vali Burkenstock says
Can you tell me about the fit of the cross over top and the v-neck Lush top. Not sure what size to get considering it looks short. Thanks.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Vali! I’m wearing a small in the cross over top, so for me it was true to size. Others think it runs a bit large, but I wouldn’t have wanted to size down. Maybe those with smaller chests would? The v-neck lush top is true to size as well, but I do need a cami under it! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
kathy says
Wow, what a great post, Sheaffer! There was so much good stuff!
I love that drapey blouse outfit on you, too!
Liz says
Snow Creek candles or Swan Creek…. can’t find Snow Creek….Thanks!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Liz! Oops! I’m soooo sorry! You’re right, it’s Swan Creek!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Alicia says
Hautelook and Nordstrom Rack are my favorites. We have a few Nordstrom Racks here in the Phoenix area along with Last Chance and they are amazing! I definitely need that Lush blouse!
Whitney says
I so very badly want to try the bra that you keep posting about, but it doesn’t come in my size (38B). #sobummed
Sheaffer says
Hi, Whitney! There are other Natori bras that would work for you and they all have great reviews! Just search “Natori” on Nordstrom.com! xoxo, Sheaffer
Erin says
YES, CONNER! Research for us, sister!!! Conner’s going to have her own little cult following hear on STMT.
cassie {hi sugarplum} says
I’m so intrigued by haute look…I’m totally checking them out! And Carter’s face getting on the bus!!!!!! #tooprecious
Karen H says
OK, two things….. the Pam thing TOTALLY works! I wear Gel nails now, so I have no need for it, but I used to use it every time I polished my nails! Those that haven’t tried it, definitely should!
Second thing… I bought the Bliss Bikini undies based on your recommendation and I, too, love them! There’s just one TINY thing that bothers me. But because it bothers me so much, it became a HUGE thing. The tag. I hate the long 3 part tag inside the undies! I had to cut them out, but unfortunately, they sewed the tag in with the same stitching that holds the lace on. So when I cut the tag out of the first pair, I cut the thread holding the lace. Bummer. The other two, I cut just below the thread, so I have a piece of black tag in the back of the panties. Doesn’t look pretty, but at least I don’t have long tags hanging down my backside anymore. I don’t understand why they would make such fabulous panties and not make them TAGLESS…. that would make them perfect! Can you see what you can do about that, Sheaffer? Surely you have enough influence with them! 🙂 I probably won’t buy them again until they become tagless!
Anyway, thanks for the great recommendations! I have many of your must haves… and unfortunately, there are many more I would like to have!
