Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means!  It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!

FAVORITE #1:  FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PICS

My sweet boy started 2nd grade this year.  He wasn’t super excited about heading back to school (we are realllllllly good at staying up late and getting up late over here), but now that he’s started he is LOVING it!

Here’s his first day of school picture!  His shirt and shoes were both from GAP at the end of last season, and you can find his Under Armour sneakers HERE.  Make sure you size up at least a 1/2  size, possibly even a full size.

And I know it’s only been a week, but Carter absolutely adores his teacher!  And so do I!

FAVORITE #2:  OLD NAVY JEWELRY

Okay, here’s a little tip for ya’ll! Old Navy doesn’t sell jewelry online, but they do sell it in some of their stores.  It’s very inexpensive (heads up, it’s not the highest quality), but they have some really fun pieces!  I ran into a store yesterday to return some shorts I’d bought for Chris that didn’t fit, and I made a quick run by the jewelry section to show y’all what I mean!  Pretty much everything is below $12!  Look at these awesome statement rings, most under $10.

And this fun and colorful bracelet is only $9.95!  Next time you are in Old Navy, make sure you check out the jewelry.  I’m thinking this bracelet would look great with a tee and military jacket!

FAVORITE #3:  CONNER’S WORK WEAR POST

I’m so excited about Monday’s post!  Like I mentioned on facebook last week (can’t remember if I mentioned it on the blog or not), I’m going to start a monthly series with my sister where she highlights office appropriate clothes that she wears to her 9-5 job working in Human Resources for a hospital system.

I thought it would be fun to show you one of her outfits today!  How cute is she all dressed up and ready for work?!?  🙂 She may be a grown up with a family of her own (I’ll introduce you to them on Monday), but she’s still my baby sister!  Personally, I have NEVER worn a pencil skirt, but I always love the way they look on others and I think they are a great basic to have in your closet if you work in a business environment!  And I love the pink, grey, and gold combo she’s got going on here!  The skirt is actually grey, the light is just messing with it.  Conner says the blouse and skirt are true to size.

FAVORITE #4:  SHAY’S COOKBOOK

If you follow me on instagram, you already saw this, but I wanted to make sure to mention it on the blog as well.  CHECK OUT WHAT I GOT IN THE MAIL!  Shay’s new book is absolutely GORGEOUS.  I love everything about it.  The pictures of the family (the kids are PRECIOUS), the recipes and pics of the food (yummy!), Shay’s pictures (hello, supermodel), how it’s organized, the fonts, Shay’s thoughts with every recipe, THE TIPS, everything down to the pink and polka dot inside cover!  I am SO EXCITED for my friend!  And proud of her!  And FREAKING OUT for her!

FAVORITE #5:  MY FAVORITE JEANS EVER ARE 33% OFF RIGHT NOW!

Are THESE JEANS expensive? YES.  Are they still expensive even though they are ON SALE?  YES.  Do I personally think they are worth it? YES.

I named them a SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUST HAVE) back in April, and I still love them!

And here I am in them.  They are my FAVORITE JEANS EVER.  They have stretch in them and are soft, but the stretch isn’t so much that they don’t hold their shape all day long. Because they totally do. And please notice how they are the perfect length on me to wear with converse, flats, and ankle booties. They’re great to wear with tall boots too, because they are so fitted that you won’t get that annoying bagging at the knees. I’m almost 5’4″, but I have a friend that bought them who is a little over 5’7″, and she loves them as well!

And here’s one of the best things about them: I’ve seriously worn them as many as 5 times between washings, and they still look great on that 5th wear! But when I do finally wash them, they wash beautifully! I typically dry them for like 20 minutes, and then I hang them to dry the rest of the way. Lots of reviewer say they dry them the entire way with great luck….I’m just not that brave. Also, I feel like the distressing has held up really well and hasn’t grown or ripped further. I love my Vigoss, but I will say that the distressing has definitely “grown”.

And here’s the deal, if you are going to splurge on ANYTHING in your closet, I suggest it be an AMAZING pair of jeans.  I mean, you will wear them constantly, and you will feel like a million bucks while doing so!

FAVORITE #6:  BACK IN STOCK JEANS

These ITTY BITTY BOOT CUT JEANS are back in stock!  Size References: I’m wearing a 27 in the jeans, so I think they are true to size.  I also have a 27 in the black skinny ankle jeans I featured during the sale, but those are much tighter than these.  I’m wearing a small in the top, so it was true to size for me as well.  I recommend sizing up a 1/2 size in the cork wedges.  They are still one of my favorite pairs of wedges ever (2 years in a row now), and they are 40% OFF!  And I want to again point out how nicely the taupe bag lightens up the entire outfit!

FAVORITE #7:  THIS TIERED BLOUSE

When I ordered this blouse*, they were out of regular sizes, so I ordered a medium petite.  I pulled it out of the box and immediately fell in love.  But when I put it on, I realized it hit me at the wrong part of my chest.  But I got lucky, and now regular sizes have re-stocked!  So I’ve ordered a regular small.  I love the blouse!
