This Guy Turned 16

This guy turned 16 on Tuesday, y’all! He’s brought us such tremendous joy every single day of the last 16 years, and we are so proud of the young man he is. He’s kind, responsible, respectful, funny as all get out, ambitious, athletic, smart, loyal, and faith filled. We feel like we hit the jackpot with this kid and are loving this stage of life with him. We can’t wait to see what he does in this world!

He passed his driving test with a 99% on Tuesday (got docked just 1 point for the angle of his parallel parking), and he’s ready to go!

THE NEW JEANS I’M OBSESSED WITH

I have some new jeans I’m obsessed with…. and I love the sweaters, the shoes, and the jewelry too.

I featured these jeans in several outfit planning collages in August, and enough of y’all bought them that they ended up on the Top 12 Favorites list for the month! I knew I had to buy them after that. More on the jeans in a minute!

This striped crewneck sweater is everything I love about a sweater. It’s lightweight, it’s got a relaxed fit, and the rounded high-low hem means I can do a 1/2 tuck or just wear it out. It’s quite soft, and you know I love a stripe. I love it here with the black jeans and leopard shoes, but I’ll also love it with regular denim and sneakers or booties!

I love the jeans soooooooooo much.

They’re not a faded black, but they’re not a solid black either, which is just the way I like them. They are very stretchy and incredibly comfortable, but they do manage to hold their shape. They are officially called “crop bootcut”, but I personally think they are more of a straight leg (I expect boot cut to flare a bit more). The raw hem is super cute, and you could wear these with anything from sneakers to heels.

If you’re a Wit and Wisdom fan thru and thru, you can grab these jeans instead. They are very similar and more affordable.

Now for a cardigan that I feel like everybody is going to fall in love with. This is the “khaki”, but it also comes in a light cream (apricot), black, hazlenut, and white. I’m wearing the small here, and it fits kind of close…. but I think I might order a medium because I like how it fits oversized on the models. I actually like how the small fits too, it’s just a different look!

Notice in the above picture that I have loafers on one foot and Mary Jane’s on the other. Some of you totally dug the loafers when I first highlighted them last week, and some of you said you wanted a “more girly” option. So the leopard Mary Janes are entering the chat!

I absolutely love both choices, it just depends on what you are looking for. Both are very comfy (but the Rothy’s are extra comfy), and they both fit true to size.

Y’all know I love the Ink + Alloy line, and I recently grabbed this set of bracelets that are in beautiful fall colors (teal + poppy).

And I’m totally smitten with this sweater. I mean stripes and a half zip with an exaggerated collar? Sign me right on up! It also comes in black and a camel. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

Here’s a super similar outfit, but I took it neutral with a camel sweater and just gold jewelry (vs. multicolor jewelry).

I’ve got a couple of more outfits with these black jeans, and the second I saw this floral blouse I knew it would be perfect. I changed the top and the shoes from the outfit directly above, but so much of the outfit is the same (accessories, bag, and jeans).

This is the sweatshirt that I ended up not liking once I received it (the shoulders were too wide), but I still wanted to show you this look.

I love a plaid top. Add a puff sleeve, a tiny ruffled collar, and a split-neck and I’m ALL IN.

THE SWEATSHIRT YOU NEED

So I showed this sweatshirt to you in cream last week and told you I loved it so much that I had already ordered the black.

The black came in and it’s just as good.

Put this sweatshirt in your cart and go ahead and press purchase. YOU NEED TO GRAB IT NOW. LIKE RIGHT NOW. It totally gives Zella vibes, but it is much more affordable at just under $25.

This sweatshirt is one that I will absolutely live in once it’s cooler. I love it with leggings, but it will be cute with jeans and sneakers too. I wanted it oversized, so I sized up to the large so it would be legging friendly. I love the zippers, I love the exaggerated color, and I love the fit. Also notice the zippers on the hem that can be unzipped for more room and some extra style. Now, I do want to mention that this sweatshirt doesn’t have pockets. That’s often a deal breaker for me in a sweatshirt like this, but not with this sweatshirt. The fit and style are just too good.

This crewneck scuba top is another great find. It’s not nearly as warm as the above sweatshirt because it’s not fleecy on the inside, so it’s good for transitional weather. I sized up to a large in this one too to make sure it is legging friendly.

The leggings are super affordable at right under $13. They come in several colors and are great for lounging and running around town, but I don’t think they have the staying power they need to if you are actually working out in them. Also, they are full-length and I prefer a 7/8 length (but these only come in full). For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

These sneakers have 179 reviews, and the great majority of them are 5 stars. I’m wearing the “multi” and love the colors, but they also come in black, a neutral, and a silver. They have a thick memory foam insole and chunky soles that will give you a bit of height. True to size, and I like the retro vibe.

SOME MORE WALMART FINDS…

This pintuck mini dress has lots of feminine detailing with the mini ruffled collar and the tiny pleats all across the bodice of the dress. It’s a relaxed and airy fit, and I love the gorgeous fall colors. It also comes in a leopard (which is back in a big way) and a solid black. The fabric is a bit sheer, but it has a full body spaghetti strapped slip that you wear underneath. The slip is attached to the dress with threads at the shoulders. but I’ll end up cutting the threads because I always get tangled up when putting on dresses like this. I’m wearing a medium here, but I’m actually going to order the small and see if I like the fit better. At 5’4″, I wish the dress was a bit shorter on me, but that’s great news for you taller ladies!

This dress isn’t great for my body type…but I’m thinking it would look great on those with a flatter chest, so I still wanted to show it. (I just felt like my boobs were a little too on display.)  It has a ruched drawstring waist that can easily be cinched in and out to create a flattering shape and the vibe is very fall. I also think it would look great with a denim jacket or open front cardi thrown on top. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

Here’s a quintessential fall dress! I totally forgot to take a picture of it without the jacket on, so you’re going to have to head to the site to see that. It has cute little flutter sleeves and functional buttons down the front. When I bought this black floral, it’s because the “merlot wine print” was out of stock, but it’s now available again and I like it better! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

This quilted jacket is lightweight and water resistant, but still quite warm due to the fleecy inside. I’m wearing a medium.

It matches the skort perfectly and comes together to make this cute little set! The nylon fabric is super sporty, and I think the drawstring waist is so cute! The bike shorts underneath will have you feeling super covered, and there’s a cell phone pocket on the shorts in addition to the pockets on the outside of the skort. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

For another option, this cinch jacket is also water resistant. It’s not lined with any fleece, so it’s a great lighter weight option. Again, I’m wearing a medium.

Are y’all familiar with Lake pajamas?  If you’re already a fan of Lake pajamas, you need to give this much more affordable option a try. They have the same look. Now, these might not be quite as buttery soft as the real deal (I swear the Lake pajamas are made out of unicorn fur or something), these are still delightful. Fo size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
