It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika and Andrea to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now.

ICE DAYS
So for those of you that don’t live in the area, McKinney and all of the surrounding cities have been closed since Monday afternoon. We didn’t get even 1 flake of snow….but we did get a little bit of ice.
And a little bit of ice amounts to a TON of trouble.
I’m not sure who to credit for this picture, but I saw it floating all over social media this week. This is downtown Dallas. And that’s not snow on the ground, that’s ice.
I know the Northerners make fun of TX for this, but we simply aren’t equipped to handle this type of weather. There were soooo many wrecks within just 1 mile of my house on Monday afternoon right when the icy conditions started. We picked Carter up early from school on Monday (with the rest of the world), and then they were out of school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
In fact, even as I type this on Thursday evening, we’re not sure about school tomorrow. It’s been raining all evening, and it’s supposed to dip down into the 20s tonight, so it’s looking like the roads are going to freeze again.
And a local bakery account I follow on ig posted this picture of downtown McKinney. So pretty, but so dangerous.

TACO SOUP
I went to the grocery store on Monday morning to stock up on all of the essentials, and ingredients for Taco Soup were at the top of my list.
I don’t really follow a recipe anymore, I just throw stuff in.
This pot had the following: 2 pounds of ground beef, 1 packet of dry ranch seasoning, 1 packet of taco seasoning, 1 packet of chili seasoning, 1 can of Rotel, 1 can of corn, 1 can of black beans, 1 can of kidney beans, and 1 can of hominy. Brown the ground beef, drain most of the grease, and dump all of the seasoning packets in. Don’t drain any of the cans, just drop everything in! Voila, TACO SOUP!
Top with tortilla chips (or Fritos), grated cheese, avocado, chopped onion, cilantro, and sour cream.
DELISH!

THE PUPS
A friend of mine (shout out, Jeni!) is getting a Golden! Y’all. I’m beside myself with excitement. We’ve been texting all week, and it obviously caused me to start reminiscing about getting the pups. My gosh my heart hurts to see these two little furry guys! This was 5 years ago!!!

MY NEW RUG
I LOVE my new runner for the kitchen. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago from Zulily, and it’s PERFECT for the space!
As y’all know, I’ve ordered several rugs over the last couple of months, and it definitely took some time to find the rug that was both the right colors and the right size. Well, my search is over! Sadly, it’s no longer available at Zulily right now, but I will continue to check the link and let you know when it restocks! When it does, you need to be ready to grab it! You can check out on all of their rugs HERE. Their selection is incredible and so are their prices.

SLING BAG
I ordered this sling bag for myself just yesterday, and I’m pumped! I have a girl’s trip coming up where there’s going to be lots of walking around, shopping, exploring, etc…. and I thought this would be a really fun option to have that will keep me hands free! When I asked my Social Threads contact yesterday about the bag she said it was awesome, but that there were only 30 left. They will restock it eventually, but it might take a bit.

PERFECT SPRING SWEATER
Do you remember this outfit? I shared this flat lay just last week…
sweater / earrings / similar heart necklace / bracelets / jeans / sneakers
The sweater had come in the day before the above post, so I hadn’t had time to try it on and style it.
WELL.
Now I’ve tried it on AND I’ve styled it in several outfits….
Here it is worn super casually with ankle jeans and sneakers….
This sweater is my idea of spring sweater PERFECTION. I love the colors, the wide stripes, the swingy fit, and the ribbed collar, cuffs, and hem. It’s lightweight, feels great on, and is just the type of sweater I like to wear with ankle jeans and sneakers in the spring. Talk about a spring uniform! I think it looks great for a super casual look with these sneakers we’ve all been obsessing over, but it would also look great with a pair of Dolce Vita fashion sneakers. If you want to dress it up, style it with white boot cut jeans and some neutral wedges. (And spoiler alert, you’re about to get to see all of these looks.)
After featuring the sweater last week, there were some questions about the colors of the stripes. I would say the stripes are a vibrant orange and a realllllllly light blush (which I know is hard to read in the below picture). I love the color combo. It’s so fresh and happy!!
sweater / multicolor hoop earrings / bracelets / jeans / sneakers (use code HONEY15 for $15 OFF)
These jeans are actually from last year, and I continue to love them. To me, they are like if a skinny jean and a straight jean had a baby. And they have the ‘Ab’solution technology that slims, shapes and lifts in all the right places!
They aren’t super fitted on the calf or around the ankle, and the ankle has a little split on the side. They are great with sneakers, sandals, booties, flats, wedges, whatever! These are great for spring and summer because I love to have just a tiny bit of ankle showing! I do suggest sizing down. I’m wearing a size 2. THESE ARE AWESOME JEANS. They have the perfect amount of stretch.
jeans / sneakers (use code HONEY15 for $15 OFF)
Here it is dressed up just a bit with a different pair of jeans and fashion sneakers….
These jeans are the most expensive jeans I’ve ever owned. But get this, they are also my most favorite pair of jeans I’ve ever owned. Now, I get it, they’re not for everybody. I 1000% get that because they are wayyyyyyyy more than I ever thought I would spend on jeans. BUT HERE WE ARE. I’ve probably already worn the jeans 20x, so I actually feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. Haha! I’m wearing my regular size 27. They do have some stretch to them, but they hold their shape. They are high waisted, which I normally don’t love, but I LOVE them.
These sneakers are really comfy and a great neutral! I’m wearing the “white/tan leather”. Last year I purchased the “white/black leather”, and I love those too. I still wear the white/black ones frequently and can vouch for the fact that they are super comfy. True to size for me.
sweater / heart earrings / bracelets / Mother jeans / neutral sneakers
The second I saw this sweater, I knew it would be adorable dressed up like this with white boot cut jeans and wedges…
I love this look so much. It’s perfect for spring and summer too!
I first showed you these white boot cut jeans last year, and I’m still wearing the heck out of them and still loving them. They are stretchy, comfy, and flattering as all get out. As I say every single time, you will look taller and skinnier than you already are when you put these babies on. 😉 Make sure you size down in these, I’m wearing a size 2.
sweater / heart earrings / bracelets / white boot cut jeans / wedges
When I ordered this brown tote, I had high hopes, but I was afraid it was going to maybe look or feel plastic-y. It doesn’t at all! It’s a pliable vegan leather that’s very soft and it fits comfortably over my shoulder. It doesn’t have any interior pockets, but it does come with a large zippered pouch. I love it in the cognac, but it also comes in taupe, creamy white, black, and silver.
This bag actually made it to the January Top 12!
sweater / heart earrings / bracelets / white boot cut jeans / wedges
I also wanted to show you the top with my new white boyfriend jeans. The denim is soft, stretchy, and super comfortable. And I love the idea of white jeans in a boyfriend cut. They are a little bit slouchy, but they’re not sloppy at all, and I still think they are flattering! I’m wearing my regular size 4. This look would also be cute with my TB Miller sandals.

GREY JEANS
I. LOVE. THESE. JEANS.
I think these light grey jeans are an excellent option to have in our closets to mix things up a bit.
These are a perfect light grey, they have a high waist that makes them super comfortable (but they aren’t too high), and I like how they are slim fitting (which makes them incredibly flattering). Still, they aren’t a true skinny jean because they aren’t super fitted through the calves or at the ankle. And great news! They have the Ab-Solution technology that we all love! I’m wearing my regular size 4, but you might want to size down if between sizes.
This crew neck tee is super affordable. Like I’m talking between $12-$20 depending on the size and color. This burgundy below (I think it’s a deep red more than a burgundy) is ONLY $12.50 in the medium! You can even grab a 2-pack of white tees for ONLY $16.60! WOW! I own this tee in several colors. I love the relaxed fit (not fitted, but not boxy or sloppy) and it launders perfectly. For size reference, I wear a medium.
crew neck tee / similar cross necklace / grey jeans / sneakers
This multi-tweed crewneck sweater is DARLING. I showed it to you with regular denim last week, but I think it looks great with this grey denim too. I love all the colors in the sweater, I love the texture, and I love the fit. It’s loose and slightly cropped. This is a great sweater that I’ll actually start wearing now, I’ll just pair a jacket with it. But the colors and weight will allow me to wear it all the way into spring as well. For size reference, this is a medium.
And you can use the code STMT10 for 10% OFF!

This v-neck cardigan is one of the best deals on Amazon. I can’t even tell you how many colors I own it in, but it’s probably not enough. IT’S AN AWESOME CARDI. It comes in a crew neck version too, but I prefer the v-neck. I like the fit of the medium.

I showed this same cardi to you last week with regular denim.

WALMART ATHLEISURE
Do y’all remember the Walmart athleisure post I did in January? Well, I’m continuing to wear and to love the pieces.
Here’s another look at them mixed and matched in some different ways…
This fleece zip up is ON SALE for ONLY $13! WHAT THE HECK! It’s really lightweight, but it’s actually super warm and cozy. It’s got the stand-up collar I love, a semi-cropped fit (but not too short at all), and an elasticized hem and cuffs. It’s awesome. AND I’M SORRY, BUT $13 IS CRAZY. It also comes in winter white, brown, and black. I love it so much that I think I’m going to need to grab the matching fleece joggers. They are on sale for $13 as well.
long sleeve tee / fleece zip up / black leggings / sneakers
The sneakers are a great color combo of navy, lilac, and orange. They’re Reebok, and they are just under $30. Super lightweight and comfy, they are true to size for me.
These colorblock leggings are from a new (to me at least) brand at Walmart called Love and Sports.
Originally $28 and worth every penny, right now they are ONLY $17! They have a high-rise fit, moisture wicking technology, and side pockets that are the perfect place for your phone. And the colors are so much fun! I love them. At 5’4″, they are longer on me than I would like, so I have to turn them under and fold them over – but that’s great news for you taller ladies! For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
The long sleeve tee comes in a 2-pack and there are several different color combos to choose from. They are simple crewnecks that are fitted, but not tight. They are great on their own and perfect for layering. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
long sleeve tee / fleece zip up / colorblock leggings / sneakers
The sneakers are a slip-on design, and they are also the Love and Sports brand, so they match a lot of the line perfectly. I think they run a bit big, so I would recommend sizing down a 1/2.
colorblock leggings / sneakers
And if you really want to go super bold, this chevron puffer is for you. Regularly $54, right now it’s ONLY $35. The varying shades of pink (from blush to dark plum) are awesome and I love the design. I would say it’s a fitted jacket, so you might consider sizing up. I’m wearing a small, but I need a medium.
chevron puffer / long sleeve tee / black leggings / sneakers
I can’t hardly even believe the luck, but this sherpa jacket is ON SALE too! It’s the warmest jacket I’m highlighting today and is oh so cozy. Regularly $40, right now it’s ONLY $29. I’m wearing the “goblin blue”, but it also comes in black, cobalt, red, cream, and grape wine. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but I definitely need a small.
sherpa jacket / long sleeve tee / black leggings / sneakers
Regularly $31, this hoodie is ONLY $21 right now! It also comes in winter white, vintage pink, and black. It’s slightly cropped, really warm, and washes like a dream. It’s great with leggings, but it looks great with jeans as well. I forgot to grab a picture of the back, so head over to the site to see the logo right above the banded hem. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
And again, I didn’t see these when I was initially shopping for the post, but if you prefer joggers to leggings you can find a matching pair of joggers here!
fleece hoodie / long sleeve tee / colorblock leggings / sneakers
Here’s the same hoodie with the black leggings.
fleece hoodie / long sleeve tee / black leggings / sneakers
And y’all! This faux sherpa is ON SALE too! Regularly $35, it’s only $23 right now! The contrasting zippers and overlays on the sleeves make it sporty and edgy. It also comes with a matching headband, and although the headband isn’t really my style, it might be yours! It also comes in black and plum. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

MANDA STRONG
The Manda Strong Gala is coming up on February 24th!!!
I’ll be there with Chris and some couple friends, and if you’re local, we would love to see you there too! Tables and tickets are still available HERE!
If you’re new here, my precious friend Manda passed away from cancer in 2017. She was a true light in this world. Her parents started a foundation in her name, and they are passionate about blessing other sweet mamas in Collin County who are also battling cancer.
Click HERE to read about their mission and learn more about their organization. I know Manda is so incredibly proud of all they are doing.
The first Manda Strong Gala was held in February of 2020, right before the world shut down due to Covid. It was such an amazing night, and I’m looking forward to making some wonderful memories again and raising some money for some very deserving mamas.
Here’s some pics from the 2020 Gala…

Happy Friday, Friend! That stripe sweater IS spring perfection!!
Kathy says
Glad you are all okay. Our roads are heavily treated up here, so I can only imagine what it must be like there. But ice is so dangerous no matter where you are. I hope things get back to normal soon!
Shay Shull says
Who knew I needed that soup for breakfast?! It looks SO DELISH!!!
Micki Kelly says
Your dogs are so beautiful! I wanted a golden but we ended up rescuing 2 sisters that were “retriever mixes” last October. They’ve turned out to be more Pyrenees than retriever but we love them!! Please give me your best tips for managing the dog hair that seems to be in every nook and cranny of my couch and floors.
Sheaffer says
Hey, Micki! Chris brushes them OFTEN to help mitigate the hair, but there is still hair EVERYWHERE. We vacuum at least once a day. Wish I had more tips! I guess my only tip is to love them more than you hate the hair! 🙂 Haha! xoxo
Jennifer Johnson says
I bought those colorful On Cloud sneakers, and I LOVE them! I have had numerous compliments on them, and of course, they are super comfortable. I have two other pairs of this brand, but I have to say these are my favorite!
Sheaffer says
Oh YAY! Love hearing this, Jennifer! I think the bungee cord laces are soooo awesome. I just love being to slip them off and on. And my goodness they are CUTE!!!! xoxo
