Cozy, Comfy, AND CUTE at the Ranch

Since the beginning of the blog, I’ve shared pictures of my family at our family ranch house.  Everybody is always so curious about it, and I get tons of questions every time we go.

So, today we are going to do three things:  1) I’m going to tell you more  about the ranch.  2)  We are going to take a walk down memory lane and I’m going to show you some a ridiculous amount of pictures from year’s past.  3)  I’m going to highlight some of my ranch attire.

This is the family ranch house.  It’s been awhile since I’ve shared about it, so I thought it was time to do it again for all of the new readers.  And listen, I always love talking about the ranch.

Chris’s paternal grandparents bought the land back in 1961, but it wasn’t until 1998 that the family built the cabin.   Ever since Chris and I started dating, going to the land has been a big part of our relationship.  Even before there was a house, we would drive to the land and fish all day on the tank and then drive back to town to stay with his grandmother.

After the cabin was built, we’ve been pretty good about getting to the ranch at least 1x per month.  We go by ourselves a lot, but we love taking friends and family there as well.  The entire extended family loves this place, and after everybody saw how much use the small house was getting, the family decided to expand it back in the fall of 2015, and they doubled it’s size!

The picture of the cabin here shows it after it’s expansion.  It’s got a great front porch where we all spend a lot of time, and the house overlooks the dock and tank.

If these walls could talk.

It really is our favorite place on earth.

I’m going to be honest when I say that COMFY and COZY are the two top priorities when packing for the ranch.

CUTE is really just a bonus.

But today you’ll see how my Zella pieces definitely check ALL of the boxes for me!  They are COMFY, COZY, and CUTE!  What I’ve found is that Zella is made for everyone, every size, and every activity under the sun.  Maybe you just want some cute loungewear?  ZELLA IS FOR YOU!  Maybe you are looking for comfy work out outfits.  ZELLA IS FOR YOU!  Maybe you just want to look put together while running around town, but still be reallllllly comfy.  ZELLA IS FOR YOU!  So no matter if you are binging your favorite show or hiking up a mountain, Zella has you covered.  As you’ll see, Zella definitely has me covered when I’m at the ranch.

This drawstring hoodie is very soft, it’s got some stretch in it, and I like the design as well.  The contrasting drawstrings, the exaggerated hemline, and the side slits (see pic above) all make it super cute.  I fell in love with this vibrant blue, but it comes in a charcoal grey as well.  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.   The medium was actually a little big (see how I have the sleeves cuffed), so I wished I would have ordered a small.  Oh well, it’s mine now!  Haha!

I felt great in this outfit all day, and my goodness it was comfy.

These 7/8 leggings are my favorite legging length on my 5’4″ frame.  The cropped leggings hit me mid calf and the regular length are like 3 inches too long…but these hit me perfectly at the ankle!  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

See? Perfect length.

These are my Edge Luxe sneakers from last year, and although this exact color combo is no longer available, there are several that you can still choose from.  They are incredibly comfy and true to size.

One of my very favorite parts of the ranch is getting to really soak up interrupted time with this guy.

I just can’t get enough of him.

Now let’s talk about the outfit I’m wearing.

I like the color of the sweatshirt and how it’s a super relaxed fit.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

BUT THE LEGGINGS ARE THE REAL STORY HERE.

I’m O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D. with the leggings.

These soft pocket lounge leggings are different than any other Zella pants I’ve ever tried.  They are high waisted like the live in leggings, but the waistband is a soft ribbed material, and there are cute little cuffs at the bottom as well as “regular” pockets.  They fit like a legging, but the style is more of a jogger style, AND I LOVE THEM.

They are even softer than normal leggings and even more comfortable than normal leggings.  FOR REAL. And I’m telling you, the fit is adorable.  I didn’t get any good close up pics, so hop over to the site for detail shots.  Mine are the black and for size reference, I’m wearing a small.

I want to wear them every single day.

It was supposed to get chilly at night, so I brought this faux fur print jacket with me.  I never ended up actually wearing it because it never got chilly AND it was too big, but I wanted to pop it on to show you.  Its very warm, super cozy, and I love the stand up collar.  I’m wearing a medium, but I need it in a small.

It’s a corduroy jogger set, y’all!

It comes in black and ivory as well, but I’m totally smitten with this “purple taupe”.

I don’t know about y’all, but I had SEVERAL velour sets in the early 2000s.  I’m not ashamed.

And I’m certainly not mad that I now have a new and improved version.

I’m telling you, we are talking NEXT LEVEL COZY.

The sneakers are a MUST HAVE!  SERIOUSLY SO CUTE! $85 and worth EVERY DANG PENNY. It just might be the best $85 you spend on your closet this Fall.

They are a PERFECT neutral and will look great with jeans, denim shorts, leggings, and all sorts of athleisure! Officially they are called “Clear Brown/Nude/White”, but let’s just stick with the perfect neutral. I really like that the accents lean a little gold, but they aren’t shiny or flashy AT ALL. Seriously. The perfect neutral.

These are incredibly light, super comfy, and true to size!

A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE

Now that we’ve talked about the ranch and my favorite type of ranch attire, let’s take a walk down memory lane.  These pictures start about 15 years ago and end with pics from just a couple of weeks ago!

  

 

And although we didn’t announce this at the time, we basically lived at the ranch for almost 3 months during the first part of the pandemic.  We were there from Spring Break until mid June or so, going back to McKinney every several weekends just to deal with yard work and things like that.

As a family, it is a time I will never forget.  We were able to spend so much uninterrupted time together and I truly feel like it was such an incredible blessing.  I will never forget that time, and I will always look back on it fondly.  We know we were so lucky to have a place to go, and we just felt very thankful for it the whole time we were there.
