After my repeat Leggings Are Not Pants post a couple of weeks ago (found HERE), I received many e-mails saying some variation of the following:
*Your first Leggings Are Not Pants post is how I found your blog in the first place!
*Now that I have these leggings, I’m not sure how I lived XX years without them in my life!
*I also received plenty of WHAT THE HECK DO I WEAR WITH MY
LEGGINGS NOW THAT I HAVE THEM? e-mails.


Well, never fear.
I’ve got this ladies.
Operation COVER YOUR CROTCHAL AREA is here.
I had a Cover Your Crotchal Area post last year that everybody found helpful, but only one of the tunics I highlighted then is still available now… so I wanted to update the post this year with new and current tunics!

Let’s start out the post by reminding you of my favorite leggings.
(Just in case you just found the blog within the last couple of weeks.)

For size reference, I have a SMALL in these leggings but only wear them with tall boots (b/c they are way too long for me to wear with flats).
I have the black and the grey, and I know many of you have the espresso also!
I’ve had them for a year now, and they still look AWESOME.
They don’t sag, they wash perfectly, and they suck you in without making it difficult to breathe.
Those are all WINS in my book.

So, now that we all have the leggings, we need things that cover our crotchal areas appropriately.
I ordered LOTS of tunics so I could sift through them at home, style them with different boots and jewelry, and find the most perfect ones.
And I think I have found us all some AMAZING choices.

I do have 1 problem though.
I ended up ordering 10 tunics.
And my plan was to keep 1…possibly 2 of them.
I hated 4 of them (that you won’t even see on today’s post), so that was actually good.
I’ve returned 6 already (4 that I hated, and 2 that I returned because I just didn’t love them) because I had to get them off the ol’ charge card.
 But there are 4 still hanging in my closet.
4 that I LOVE and ADORE.
4 that I feel like I need.
I’ve decided I’m going to allow myself to keep 3 of them….because they aren’t just for leggings, they will look awesome with jeans too….and I know I will get my $ worth out of them.

Still, I’m going to return 1 more this weekend.
Decisions.

SO SIT BACK, RELAX, AND GET READY FOR THE TUNIC PARADE!!!!
For size reference, I’m 5’4″.
But spoiler alert….I have big boobs (sorry Dad) and a massive rib cage that make shirts shorter on me than on girl’s without big boobs and a massive rib cage.  So keep that in mind when trying to decide on the right size for yourself!
TUNIC #1

I tried to remember to take side view and back view pictures so you could see how all of my bits were covered.  You’re welcome.
I think denim tops always look great with leggings, but it’s often hard finding a denim top long enough to pair with leggings.  This one does the trick, plus it has a cute pattern on it!  If you are really long waisted, you could always pair a long tank underneath it for extra coverage.

The above tunic was definitely the dressiest of the options I tried on.  It was also pretty body conscious.  I liked it a lot, but I didn’t keep it because I felt like I would always have to be sucking in when wearing it.
If you don’t have to worry about sucking in (you go!), then you might really like this one!

Also from Bobeau, THIS hooded long cardigan.  It’s plenty long in the front and back to pair with leggings!
(I found out about this when Jessica, a reader, e-mailed me to say it was her less expensive version of the blardigan!)

 TUNIC #3

For size reference, I was wearing a medium in this picture.
I ordered a medium because I wanted to make sure it was going to be super flowy, which it was.
I’d be interested to see if the small would have fit better…but I still loved the way the medium looked!

As you can see, this tunic is very long in the front and SUPER long in the back.
 I liked this one a lot!
It is very different than anything else in my closet, and I think that’s why I loved it so much!
I felt super stylish in it AND like I was wearing pajamas.
This one is staying with me fo’ sho’.

There are 24/41 5 star reviews and 9 4 star reviews, so I guess the reviews are a little mixed.
BUT I LOVED THIS!
I’m wearing the “neutral streaky” colorway.

I showed Shay this picture and she said it was, and I quote, “VERY Olivia Pope.”
I’ll take it.

It was definitely fitted around the hiney area, but not too fitted.
I just thought it was a really great look.

Notice the deeper color on the edge of the cowl neck as well as the band on the bottom.
The seems are also kind of rough, and I loved the look.
If you are long-waisted, you might have to wear a cami or tank under this for maximum coverage.
It was plenty long on me, but remember I’m only 5’4″.
If you’re too tall to wear this with leggings, consider getting it to wear with jeans.

This tunic is quite fitted, so if you’re scared to wear it with leggings, you might prefer to wear it with jeans.

Now a review of a couple of the tunics I’ve talked about before (that are still available).
1)

For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the tunic.
Also, the reviews talk about how the lace on the sleeves is tight, and I would agree.
I happen to like the sleeves tight, because I feel like it helps it not look sloppy.
However, if you have a large forearm, you might not like these sleeves.  Just fyi.

This next one is SO flattering (and let’s just be honest here:  if something is flattering, I BUY IT)…
and it looks awesome with the leggings.

    This might be kind of a dumb question, but when wearing the blardigan, does the shirt underneath need to cover the crotchal area, as well? If so, what t-shirts and/or tanks do you recommend because I can never find ones long enough…

      Hi Michelle!
      If it's not black, then I think it needs to cover. If it's the same color as the leggings, then I think it all blends in and the blardigan is flowy enough that it works. I would check Anthropologie for some long tees. I'm going in a couple of weeks, and I will definitely try to scope some out! Stay tuned!!!

      For a crazy cheap option (2/$10) H&M has long layering camis that stretch way long. They are a cami style (aka spaghetti strap) so you've for to be a little careful w the too you choose but I have literally a dozen in different colors to supplement my other tanks or layer with them.

      In other news, that Free People tunic in purple is sold out! Boo.

    I ordered a few of the Caslon tunics back during the Anniversary sale but always looking for new and different leggings ideas because I do love wearing them! I ordered 2 more of the Caslon and the belted jacket (cute!) Thanks for another great post. On a side note, a Nordstrom Rack just opened last night here in my town. I'm hoping to have time to check it out today for any great deals. My sweet hubby is SO happy I got that Nordstrom card! 🙂

    I wanted to share a great top I found that works with leggings. Being 5'9", I have a hard time finding tops that will actually cover my crotchal area. Imagine my surprise when I found one at Target of all places AND it was $15! Its the Women's Perfect Fit Longsleeve V-Neck by Mossimo. I love it so much that I bought 2 more colors online! Its so soft and perfect for us tall girls to wear safely with our leggings! Sandy

    Sorry to have to disagree with you, but Tunic #3 needs to go back. Too much show-through when light is behind you. A silhouette is nearly as bad as the real thing. Tunic #4? I just don't see that as being attractive on you. Especially when you have all those other GREAT choices (well, except for poor #3).

    And thanks for taking the lead on the Cover Your Crotchal Area campaign. 😉

    Love the leggings. 🙂 Don't make the same mistake I did…I ordered from Amazon in grey thinking they were cheaper there. Then, two other colors from Nordstrom (black and brown). The grey ones had a hole after the first time I wore them! Definitely suspicious.

    Love this post, I ordered the must have leggings online from Nordie's. So much of your stuff is from Nordstroms, you must live there ;0) I am so sad that my Nordstroms in the Florida Mall closed a month ago in my town of Orlando. But we still have Nordstrom Rack and I can still order online. After seeing this post, I went looking for tunics of my own and 2 great places to check out are Old Navy where everything is 30% off and Ann Taylor Loft where everything is 40% off. Went alittle crazy today…oh well! But got great tops for my leggings when they come.

    I have been following your blog for a couple of months now, and I LOVE it!!! I have such a time putting things together and you are such a huge help. OK…..question…..I love the look of leggings, and have a couple pair from Gap that I had to have but haven't worn because I don't know what to put them with them, so this post helps. I totally get the covering up your crotch…The blardigan….you have a tank underneath….does the tank have to be long and loose to cover that up, since the blardigan/ cardigan is open? 🙂 I would love to hear from you on your suggestion. 🙂
