It’s time for the 9th installment of Conner’s Closet!!! Conner is my sister, and she works in HR for a hospital system. Here she is with her little guy, Brody (3 years old).
I MEAN. HOW CUTE ARE THEY. But don’t let this precious picture fool you. That boy will give you a run for your money. But so did his mama when she was little. #sassy #karma ????
Conner always looks so polished and put together, and since I often receive requests for work wear ideas from y’all (but I don’t have the need for work wear), I had an idea to start a monthly series where Conner highlights business casual attire for us! She’s got several amazing pieces to show y’all today, so let’s get started! Conner’s thoughts are in italics.
OUTFIT #1: A Simple Dress and Peep Toe Booties
Who likes wearing comfortable clothes?!? I know I do. This dress is 95% rayon and SO incredibly soft. (It keeps going in and out of stock, so fingers crossed it’s back in this morning!) It’s more casual than I anticipated, so I plan on wearing it late in the work week or on casual Fridays. The dress comes with a tie for the waist, but I paired it with the must have denim jacket and wore it to our contemporary service on Easter Sunday sans tie. It looked GREAT and I have to admit, allowed me to eat too many fries at lunch. Whoops 😉 The floral pattern is subtle and not at all overwhelming. I also love the navy and yellow combination.
OK – I have a confession. I was seriously nervous stepping outside of my comfort zone in these shoes. I have bony ankles and booties are EXTREMELY hard for me to find. Typically, there is a huge gap between the shoe and my ankle and I look like I’m playing dress up in my mom’s shoes. I reluctantly stepped outside of my comfort zone and paired these booties with this dress…and I’m SO glad I did! I love the combination! The 3” heel adds a little height, but the shoes are still comfy and your feet don’t hurt after wearing them for an hour. The dress is versatile and also looks super cute with the Sam Edelman GiGi flat sandals.
I’m wearing my white Stella and Dot Amala chandeleier earrings. I have a yellow pair of old Stella and Dot earrings that really make the yellow in the dress pop. Unfortunately, those earrings are no longer available, but I found this yellow pair that would look fantastic!
I’m wearing an XXS regular in the dress and a 5.5 in the booties. Both are true to size. I’m going to wash the dress on delicate and hang it to dry.

Just in case the dress is sold out, here are some options for y’all! I’m kind of cuckoo over THIS one.
And THIS one is made for the office.

OUTFIT #2: Eyelet Skirt and Jean Jacket
Well, this one is my favorite. It’s so cute, fresh, and fun!
This outfit makes me so happy! I mean it’s seriously adorable. The cut and fit of the skirt is so stinkin’ cute, and I can pretty much guarantee you that you don’t have anything like it in your closet.
The skirt needs to be worn at your natural waistline in order for it to lay correctly. I recommend wearing the skirt with a form fitting shirt. The waistband isn’t super forgiving, so too much fabric causes problems.
Y’all…I bit the bullet and purchased the Splendid Jess wedges. It hurt you guys, $167 is more than I have ever spent on a pair of wedges, but they have already been worth it. The color is perfect – it extends your legs and make them look longer (I need all the help I can get!). Also, the wedges are comfortable. I typically have to carry a boatload of band aids with me when I wear new shoes…but not with these bad boys. The leather is flexible and extremely soft…no blisters here!
I’m wearing the Stella and Dot Chandeliers and carrying the FAMOUS Barrington Pineapple tote. You guys – I’m obsessed with this bag. I can’t get over it!!!! It’s perfect for the summer and I LOVE the natural trim leather. I’m crossing my fingers that Barrington rolls it out for the Savannah tote, too. This bag pulls the whole outfit together. It will be perfect for trips to the pool OR for casual Fridays at the office. I don’t even know what else to say but BUY THE BAG. You won’t regret it!
I’m wearing a 00 petite in the skirt, an XXS regular in the tank, and a 5.5 in the wedges. All are true to size. I wash the skirt and tank and lay flat to dry.
I have to say, Conner…you surprised me with the purchase of the wedges! But, good for you! They’re fabulous!

OUTFIT #3: Pencil Skirt and Tie Neck Blouse
CONNER! This is an absolutely gorgeous combination! This is how I think of you most of the time I think of you dressed for the office, with a great pencil skirt and blouse. And I’m loving the block heels! Not only are they great for an office…they’d be great for a wedding. Especially an outdoor wedding or any outdoor event where you don’t want your heels sinking in grass.
I LOVE this look. The design and colors in the skirt are fantastic – I love the pink, navy and teal combination. I’m wearing the mosaic skirt with the navy tie neck shell. Even though I try to stay away from sleeveless at the office, the high neck and tie makes me more comfortable wearing a sleeveless top. If you’re still not on board, just throw on a cardigan!
Can we talk about my new shoes for a minute? I’m wearing the new Vince Camuto Corlina sandal and THEY’RE UNDER $100. These shoes are fabulous. I decided I needed a new pair of neutral sandals and I’m so happy I chose these shoes. I decided to go with the nude leather because they’ll be the most versatile, but I’ll admit, the Rose Quartz nubuck leather option is calling my name. 😉 I typically prefer a 4 inch heel (I’m only 5’2”), but I’m really loving the 3.5” heel on these. I’m wearing a 5.5 and they’re true to size. I’m also wearing my Kendra Scott Elle earrings in magenta/gold. I’m wearing an XXS regular in the top and a 00 petite in the skirt. Both are machine washable.

OUTFIT #4: Pleated Skirt and Tee
This is a departure, but I think it’s so fun!
I usually stay conservative and stick to pencil skirts, but I’m really into full skirts these days! They’re so fun and flirty! The skirt is dark navy – so dark, it’s almost black. The waist band has a ribbon texture which I absolutely LOVE. I’m wearing this navy pleated skirt with the same picot trim tank, but it also looks super cute with a printed top!
Everything is true to size and machine washable. I’m wearing a 00 petite in the skirt and an XXS regular in the tank.

Thank you so much, seester! As always, you look absolutely darling in everything. I’m of course loving all of the outfits (always do!), but I’m especially loving the shoes this month!
Before y’all go, I have a fun picture to share with you. These are my friends Sarah (on left) and Rachel (on right). Their kids go to Carter’s school, and Rachel’s son and Carter play on the same soccer team. Well, they texted me this picture yesterday with the following message: Ummmm, Sheaffer Told Us To…..however, not sure she was telling us to show up to church this way.
Isn’t this hysterical?!? I would have loved to have seen their faces when they saw each other!!! Surprise! Ha!
Well, you look great, ladies!!!!!! And just fyi, both of them work in office environments and they both planning on wearing their tops to work with with both black and grey slacks. So glad I told y’all to. 😉

If you didn’t catch the post a couple of weeks ago where I was wearing it, here’s a shot of the top (so you can see how great it looks with white jeans)! Click HERE for the full post if you want more pics. For size reference, several reviewers have reported that it runs large, but I didn’t find that to be the case. I’m wearing my normal size small, and I definitely couldn’t have sized down. If you have a smaller chest, I do think you could size down, because it’s definitely roomy and flowy. Oh, I should mention that I also ordered the blush color. The color was gorgeous, but a little sheer. I think you would have to wear a cami with the blush.

See you back here on Wednesday for What’s Up Wednesday!
OH, WAIT LADIES! I’ve got some sale items for you. I put some of these on Facebook yesterday afternoon, but thought I should put them here too. First up, these bladigans are 20% OFF! I thought they would blow off the shelves yesterday, but lucky y’all, there are still some in stock!
Look at this great pair of neutral wedges (comes in 2 other colorways as well)!
Kinda dying over THESE. I’m smitten with this bright poppy color, but they also come in black, light gold, and taupe!
And I might have ordered THIS dress for myself. Allegedly. Okay, I did. There are no reviews of it yet (boo!), but I can’t wait to get it! It’s an amazing deal at 40% OFF, and it also comes in navy. French Connection often runs small, so keep that in mind when ordering. I’m thinking I’ll be wearing it with both wedges and flat sandals, but I bet you could also dress it up with heels!
Check out this amazing top! Also 40% OFF.
Okay, now I’m done. 😉
Wait, not I’m not. One more thing. This Endless Summer tote is precious! I also love this rafia striped tote and this clutch is one I’ve highlighted on the blog several times before! And you can find the same tote with other messages/designs HERE.

Thank you Conner for your shoe review! I totally get the struggle with bony ankles and booties and appreciate your confession. They always look so awkward on me. But these booties look GREAT on you and I’m gonna check them out.

I love the pink eyelet skirt, but I can’t find it in petite on Lofts website 🙁 Did Conner order the skirt online or buy it in her local Loft store?

She ordered it online. I’m guessing the petites have sold out. So sorry! 🙁

Yes! I could put you in one pocket and her in the other! 🙂
Tonya Roberts says
Hi Sheaffer! I scrolled back through to find this post because I remembered reading it. I am considering ordering the Vince Camuto Corlina Ankle Strap Sandal. Here is my question…These days, I see women wearing nude colored shoes with black dresses. Is that the thing to do now (instead of black)? I am wearing a black (above the knee) dress from Nordstrom and I am trying to determine if I should wear black heels with a black clutch (sounds boring), or nude heels with a nude clutch? It is a semi-dressy occasion. Are these too casual? I would love your opinion as I will be in the company of my husband’s 3 sisters who are super trendy and so very styish! 🙂
Thanks so much,
Tonya
P.S. I saw you trying on shoes in Nordstrom one day a while back. If I hadn’t been in workout clothes, I would’ve said hello. Maybe next time! Ha! 😉
Sheaffer says
Hi, Tonya! Which dress is it? You might even want to wear a bright shoe and carry a colorful clutch! Can you tell me the name of the dress? And next time say “hi”!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
