Conner’s Closet: Work Wear Guide #4 AND a Code for Scarves!

It’s time for the 4th installment of Conner’s Closet!!!  If you didn’t see the first post, Conner is my sister and she works in HR for a hospital system.  She always looks so polished and put together, and since I often receive requests for work wear ideas from y’all (but I don’t have the need for work wear), I had an idea to start a monthly series where Conner highlights business casual attire for us!

She’s got several amazing pieces to show y’all today, so let’s get started!

Loft Snowbird Shirtdress:

When I first saw Conner in this dress, it seemed like a departure from the look she normally goes for, but I absolutely LOVED it on her!!!!  It’s a little bit quirky (because of the print), but still classic (because of the neckline and overall shape)!

Here’s what Conner has to say:  This dress is ADORABLE.  I’m wearing it right now (while eating tacos…more to come on that) and have received a TON of compliments.  The colors are vibrant and the print is so unique.  The dress has a dark gray background and is the perfect transition piece for fall.  The pinks and blues in the dress will allow the dress to be a winter to spring transition piece as well.  Versatility is key!  Oh, did I mention that this dress is insanely comfortable?!?  With dresses, sometimes you need to suck in (or stop breathing entirely) just to get it to zip – not this one!  It isn’t meant to be super snug, which I appreciate on those “I just want to be comfortable” OR “I just want to eat tacos” type days. 

I’m wearing a 00 regular, but will probably get the dress taken in a little on each side.   If you want the dress to be more form fitting, I recommend sizing down.  It’s machine washable, but I don’t want to run the risk of any of the colors fading, so I’ll take it to the dry cleaners after every other (or every 3) wears.  In the pictures, I’m wearing my Kendra Scott gray Elle earnings and my BCBGeneration booties.  If you’re more of a flats gal, I recommend THESE suede flats from Old Navy.

Here’s what I have to say:  Let’s all try not to roll our eyes at the thought of getting a DOUBLE ZERO DRESS TAKEN UP.  #ihadtotryreallyhard   #loveyouseester   😉

Deco Blossom Modern Henley Blouse/Red Marissa Pants

My mom and I have loved LOFT’s Marisa pants for years (they work really great for a straight up and down frame), and I’m so happy that Conner now loves them too!  If you are more curvy than straight, the Julie pants might be a better fit for you.  And I LOVE a bold color in a pair of pants.

Here’s what Conner has to say:  Oh my goodness gracious, I LOVE this outfit!  The red in the blouse and the red pants are a perfect match.  This is also a great fall transition outfit that will transition into spring, too.  Honestly, there’s not too much to say about this combo other than the fact that it’s cute, comfortable, and professional!  You only need to wear earrings (a necklace would make it look too busy) and I’m wearing my Kate Spade gold mini glitter studs.  I’m wearing my nude patent Jessica Simpson Callie pumps. 

The blouse and pants are true to size – I’m wearing an XXS regular in the blouse and 00 petite in the pants.  Both are machine washable! 

Here’s what I have to say:  I have these red pants from several years ago, and I adore them.  I wear them with my black utility blouse  a lot and just change the look up with different necklaces.  However, it’s totally surprising the number of patterned shirts and sweaters you can find that work with them.

Utility Blouse and Tweed Pocket Skirt

I love all the looks Conner has for us today, but I think this is my favorite!

Here’s what Conner has to say:  I’m SO looking forward to wearing this outfit to work…if it ever cools down, that is!  I absolutely love this skirt – it’s structured without looking too “stuffy”.   It’s a classic and will never go out of style.  I have 2 other tweed skirts from the Loft that I love and still wear every winter.  The tweed is black, red, and white.  I’m wearing my Kendra Scott black earrings and my Jimmy Choo (yikes) boots.  I got the boots at a HUGE discount many many moons ago, but still paid a pretty penny.  I’ve had the boots for 3 years now and highly recommend them to ladies with small calves. 

This outfit would also be cute with a pair of black flats and I will wear it with my Tory Burch flats and opaque tights  for a more casual look.  The utility blouse and skirt are true to size – I’m wearing an XXS regular in the blouse and a 00 petite in the skirt. Both are machine washable! 

Here’s what I have to say:  I don’t know what it is about tweed, but I ADORE it.  Like every single time I see it, I have all the heart eyes for it.  And I love the shape of the skirt.  I think that pairing it with our beloved utility blouse is such a smart look!  And just FYI:  if I win the lottery, I’m getting those boots.

I think it’s perfect and very professional looking. Utility Blouse and Marisa Pants

This is the exact combo of pants and a top that you saw me in several times last year…but instead of heels, I wore the outfit with THESE leopard flats.  The flats are a staple I’ve had for over 2 years, and I still love them.  They are soooo comfy and make a fun statement.

Here’s what Conner has to say:  This outfit is super festive!  I love the contrast of the red and the black, but let’s get to the most important pieces…the Gigi New York Grace satchel and the Sam Edelman Hazel pumps. 

Let’s start with the satchel. I seriously gasped when I saw it for the first time.  You guys, it’s exquisite.  The gray leather and the gold hardware is absolutely GORGEOUS.  I typically gravitate towards totes, but I love the structure of the satchel.  It’s so professional!  It’s definitely smaller than a tote, but I was surprised how much was still able to fit…I carried my SurfacePro, make-up, bag, wallet, and travel jewelry case in the bag!   Right now there is FREE SHIPPING (for orders over $125) and FREE PERSONALIZATION!
