Conner’s Closet: WORK WEAR GUIDE #20

Today it’s time for the 20th installment of Conner’s Closet!!!  WOW!  NUMBER 20!  I can hardly believe it!

I’m just so thankful that when I had this idea a couple of years ago that Conner was excited about the idea too and more than happy to come play dress up over here once a month.  I know that there are so many ladies that very much appreciate the time and effort that she puts into these posts, and I’m so happy to share her office style with all of you.

In case you are new here, Conner is my little sister, and she works in HR for a hospital system.  Here she is with her little guy, Brody!  I MEAN.  HOW CUTE ARE THEY.  But lemme tell ya, don’t let this precious picture fool you.  That boy will give you a run for your money.  And so did his mama when she was little.  #sassy #karma

Let’s Get Started!

RUFFLED MOCK NECK TEE AND TWEED POCKET SKIRT

I have to make a confession…I stole this look right off of the LOFT website. I fell in love with it and just had to make it all mine! I absolutely love this skirt. It has silver threads running through it which makes it bright, festive, and perfect for a holiday party!  But because it’s tweed, it’s still subdued enough for office wear.  I love the front pockets and the waistband.

The ruffled mock neck tee goes perfectly with this skirt. It’s t-shirt material and offsets the sparkle in the skirt. The top is super comfortable and can also be worn half tucked with a pair of work pants! Both the skirt (00 petite) and top (XXS regular) are true to size and are machine washable, but I recommend lying both flat to dry. I’m wearing a pair of Jimmy Choo boots I purchased (they were a STEAL!) from Nordstrom Rack a few years ago, but highly recommend these tall boots or these heeled booties.  I just purchased the booties for myself.  They have 4.5 stars and 170 reviews…AND they’re on sale…I couldn’t help myself!

I’ll also be wearing this outfit with my favorite basic black tights (TTS – small). I have no less than 10 pairs because they aren’t too sheer and aren’t too opaque…they’re just right!

I absolutely love this outfit on you, Conner!  And I think it’s great how you took a somewhat fancy skirt and basically paired a long sleeve tee with it.  Such a darling look.

FLORAL JACQUARD PINTUCKED YOKE BLOUSE AND SKINNY PIN DOT PANTS

How gorgeous is this outfit? Pictures simply don’t do it justice.

I love floral jacquard but sometimes feel like it can be over the top, but this blouse is dreamy…the jacquard is subdued and the pintucked yoke is oh-so-feminine! The top is true to size (XXS regular), and it is sheer enough that you do need to wear a cami under it.

The Marisa skinny pin dot pants will be one of my favorites this winter. The pin dot is a light pink and very subtle. I’m wearing my usual 00 petite, but the material is thick in comparison to other Marisa pants, so you may want to size up. The pants and top are both machine washable, but I recommend lying flat or hanging to dry.

Oh! I can’t forget about the earrings. I mean seriously, how cute are they?!? Petal earrings are so in right now and these are the perfect size. I received so many compliments when I wore them to work. The petals are black and I love the contrast of the faux pearls (which are kind of a pink color) and the gold finish. I’m wearing a pair of gray suede Vince Camuto pumps from last year, but these are a great option.

PLEATED YOKE BLOUSE AND PLAID SKINNY ANKLE PANTS

This outfit is my favorite of them all – it’s so pretty and festive! The blouse is effortlessly chic, modern, and can be worn with work pants or with jeans. I love the pleated yoke and the long sleeves with button cuffs and roll-cuff button tabs.

You guys, these plaid pants are FABULOUS. You need them in your life. The multi blue, green, and black plaid is perfect for the holiday season. I’m wearing my usual 00 petite, but these pants are also thicker than the standard Marisa pants, so you may want to size up.

If you’re going to buy this outfit (and I think you should!), don’t even think about purchasing it without the dark jade stone tassel earrings. Aren’t they fantastic?!? The green is a perfect match to the green in the plaid pants and it ties the whole outfit together! I’m wearing my black suede pumps (TTS – 5.5). The shirt and pants are machine washable, but you know the drill…either hang or lay flat to dry!

I had Conner do the flat lay above so you could see the pattern on the pants (since it’s hard to see in these next shots).  I really like this look both for a day look for the office a night look for a casual holiday party.

TULIP PUFF SLEEVE BLOUSE AND TIE WAIST PENCIL PANTS

I stepped out of my comfort zone with this outfit…and I’m so glad I did! I’m a small person and always thought that a loose fitting work pant would totally swallow me, but I was wrong. I am obsessed with these tie waist pencil pants! They do seem to run a teeny bit large, so if you want them to fit a little more snug, I recommend sizing down. When I first purchased these pants, they were only available in the shady blue heather, but I see Loft has added several other colors including gray and red!

I paired the pants with the tulip puff sleeve blouse (XXS regular). The print and blouson sleeves are adorable and I love the half tucked look, don’t you?!? This outfit will carry over to the spring, too! I highly recommend wearing these pointy toe pumps in oatmeal suede.  The pants and blouse are machine washable, but will lay flat or hang to dry.

Note from Sheaffer:  These pants appear to have a low rating on the site – only 2 reviews with an average rating of 3 stars.  HOWEVER, if you read both of the reviews they are actually both 5 STAR REVIEWS!  The 1 Star Review actually says the pants are “PERFECT”!

Okay, a couple more things before you go!

Do you need new pajamas for Christmas morning?  THESE are 40% OFF and perfect!  I like the red multi the best. 

And it’s not pajamas, but I ordered this for myself, and I’m hoping I’m going to be wearing it with leggings all day long (I mean, after I change out of my pajamas around noon).  It’s going to be just as good as wearing pajamas, and I’m pumped.  (It’s 40% OFF too!)  The regular price isn’t showing, but it’s typically $138.  It’s probably worth it at that price, but I’m super pumped about the sale.
