Conner’s Closet: Work Wear Guide #12

It’s time for the 12th installment of Conner’s Closet!!!  I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for a year now! Thank you Conner for all of the incredible WORK WEAR ideas over the last year!!!

Conner is my little sister, and she works in HR for a hospital system.  Here she is with her little guy, Brody (4 years old).  I MEAN.  HOW CUTE ARE THEY.  But lemme tell ya, don’t let this precious picture fool you.  That boy will give you a run for your money.  And so did his mama when she was little.  #sassy #karma  ????

Conner always looks so polished and put together, and since I often receive requests for work wear ideas from y’all (but I don’t have the need for work wear), I had an idea to start a monthly series where Conner highlights business casual attire for us!  She’s got lots of amazing pieces to show y’all today, so let’s get started!  Conner’s thoughts are in italics.

And if you don’t work in an office, don’t worry!  Lots of Conner’s outfits are also great for church, events, weddings, showers, etc….

FYI:  I published this post last night because EVERYTHING at LOFT was 40% OFF, and the sale was supposed to end last night.  WELL, GREAT NEWS Y’ALL!  THEY EXTENDED THE SALE!!!  I’m publishing the post again this morning just to make sure nobody misses it!

LET’S GET STARTED!!!!

OUTFIT #1:  Floral Smocked Sleeve Blouse with Grey Skinny Slacks

Why can’t all work appropriate clothing be this comfortable?!?  This outfit really takes the cake…super cute…professional…and comfortable. Sign me up!  I’m loving this smocked cuff blouse from the Loft (40% OFF today!).  The details are out of this world – it has smocked cuffs AND ladder lace trim around the neckline!  I received so many compliments the day I wore this outfit to work.  The website describes the top as a blouse, but I would say it is borderline tunic length.  With that being said, I’m only 5’2” and I ordered the regular XXS, not petite #shortgirlproblems. 

The top looks best paired with gray skinny pants (or jeans for you stay at home mamas)!  I’m wearing my go-to Gap skinny ankle pants in heather gray.  I also own multiple pairs of these pants in multiple colors…and prints…but we’ll save that for another post.  The top and pants are true to size (XXS and 00 regular).  Both pieces are machine washable and I hang them to dry.

OUTFIT #2:

You guys, my picture of this outfit does not do it justice.  I absolutely LOVE a good black and navy combination. It’s so stunning!  The skinny microplaid ankle pants (40% OFF!) are navy and blue plaid and look fabulous paired with the black tie hem blouse.  These pants are definitely cut slimmer than the typical Marisa pants. I usually have a little bit of room in the waist and thighs of my Marisa pants, but I ordered my standard 00 petite and these fit like a glove.  I don’t think the difference is enough to size up, but wanted you to be aware, just in case!  

The pants look perfect with the tie hem blouse(40% OFF!).  It has an elasticized hem, side ties, and button cuffs!  I already know this will be one of my go to blouses for the year.  I’m wearing my go-to Kristin Cavallari Copertina pumps.  All pieces are true to size (XXS, 00 Petite, and 5.5).

OUTFIT #3:

Well, this is definitely going to be one of my go to outfits for fall.  How adorable is this top and skirt combination?!? I absolutely love this top (40% OFF!)– it is so flirty, feminine, and versatile. I decided to wear the top with a pencil skirt for a tailored look, but you can easily throw it on with a pair of skinny pants or jeans!  The top is flowy and has a stretchy knit back panel.  The ruffle at the neck is super flattering and gives the top an extra bit of flair!  

I’m pretty sure you’ve seen this pencil skirt (40% OFF!) in a previous post.  I seriously order the exact same skirt every year because I love it so much and wear it to death.  Trust me, this simple and classic skirt needs to be in your wardrobe!  The skirt is definitely darker than the skirt in the picture – which is a good thing for the summer to fall transition. Both pieces are machine washable, but I will hang them to dry.  The skirt and blouse run true to size (XXS and 00P).

OUTFIT #4:

You guys…this blouse(40% OFF!).  I love it so much.  The color…beautiful. The pattern…beautiful.  I feel like I say this a lot, but pictures do not do it justice. The colors are vibrant and the print is so unique – I must have received 10 compliments the day I wore this blouse. No joke. 10. 

I’m wearing the top with the Gap mid-rise true skinny jeans for a more casual look (ALSO ON SALE!).  I’m having trouble with the link to the these (last night they were linking to the European Gap, so I have instructions below on how to find them at our Gap!) The jeans are super dark, almost black and look fabulous with the top.  They’re super stretchy and cozy!  I’m also wearing the Splendid Daphne bootie which unfortunately, is now sold out in the gray color.  And when I say sold out, I mean everywhere…trust me, I looked.  BUT, if you’re in the market for a black, navy, or whiskey bootie, I definitely recommend this pair! I love how the shoe dips down on the sides – it’s super flattering, especially if you’re like me and have short legs that need to be elongated as much as possible.  The top, jeans, and shoes are all true to size (XXS, 24, 5.5).

OUTFITS #5 and #6:  Two Great Sweaters

Well, I didn’t intend to buy sweaters from the Loft, but these two sweaters just happened to make their way into my cart…and I’m SO glad they did!  They are both perfect for casual Fridays, but could also be paired with a pair of work pants.  

The flare sleeves add a bit of…well, flare.  😉 I’m wearing an XXS.

SIDENOTE: I’m trying to decide which sweater to wear in our family pictures this fall and feel I should use this opportunity to take a vote.  What do y’all think?  White or pink?!?

The pink cutout sweater has just the right amount of cut out – enough to make the sweater trendy and cute, but not enough to not be appropriate for the office.  I’m wearing an xxs in the sweater.

OUTFIT #7:  Hydrangea Floral Bouquet Dress

How FABULOUS is this dress?  It is the perfect piece to take you from summer to fall and the pictures do not do it justice.  The colors are bold and the print is so fun! I’ll be honest, when I first opened the box, I didn’t love the dress – but I changed my mind the instant I put it on.  The ruffles…the sleeves and tied bell cuffs…the fit…I die!  Everything about it is oh so perfect!  Plus, the dress is lined. #score

Technically, the dress has a navy background, but it could totally pass for black, which is why I’m wearing it with my black leather Sam Edelman Yaro ankle strap sandals.  For the record, it would look even better with the Oatmeal Suede version.  I recommend pairing the dress with a pair of gold earrings like THESE (ON SALE).

I ordered this floral shirtdress for me!  I haven’t grabbed any pictures of it yet, but it’s DARLING and I love it on.  It will look great with heels, booties, and boots!
