Okay….so I’ve kinda got a girl crush.
Whose the lucky girl? 🙂
It’s Carly over at C Style!
You have got to check out her blog.
She is classic, yet modern…and it appears she has a closet that I would give my right arm for.
(Or at least portions of both my right and my left arms.)
Melanie at Big Mama linked to both of us several Fridays ago, and we have struck up a bit of a bloggy frienship!
So, we have decided to link to each other today.
I’m going to create an outfit based upon her undeniable GENIUS.
And she is going to do what I do, and recreate a Pinterest outfit.
You aren’t going to believe her look. It is flipping awesome.

When I read her post a couple of weeks ago about her new “Favorite Fall Look“, it spoke to me.
Yes, I do in fact realize how ridiculous that might sound. 🙂
But I’m thinking it might speak to you too!
But I’m thinking it might speak to you too!
Here is Carly in her new favorite fall look.
Her new fav consists of: skinny jeans, a sleeveless shirt, and a pair of tall boots.
I don’t know why, but this was like one of those Oprah “Aha!” moments for me.
I have never in my life worn boots and a sleeveless shirt.
That Carly. She’s cute…..and she’s smart.
I have worn a version of this look 3 times in the last 2 weeks, and I’ve received boat loads of compliments each time.

Shortly after seeing Carly’s post, I saw this combo on Pinterest and had all the players.
Let’s not talk about the fact that it seems as if I was pinning things at 5:52 a.m.
That would make me seem crazy.
Which I clearly am not. Ahem.

So, here I am in what I’m calling my “fall uniform”.
100% inspired by Carly!
I totally dig it.
Sleeveless tie shirt: LOFT
Skinny Jeans: Swanky Boutique

I mean, I consider myself a smart girl.
I have a Master’s Degree.
However, in all of my graduate level classes, this was never covered.
Sure, maybe that has something to do with the fact that my major was Speech-Language Pathology, but this seems like a pretty important topic that could have at least been touched upon.
No?
Well, I’m now of the mindset that a sleeveless shirt with boots and with layers is essential for my life. The good news here?
I already have SEVERAL sleeveless shirts in my closet that are perfect for my new fall uniform! Shirts that have never seen it out of my closet if it is below 80 degrees are going to get to come out and play now. That’s what you call a wardrobe stretcher!
The bad news?
There are lots of sleeveless shirts out there that I’m looking at totally differently after my “aha” moment. I’ve discriminated against these shirts for my whole life during fall and winter months, so I feel like I need to make up for lost time.
I probably need to make amends by buying several new ones.
It just seems like the right thing to do.

Well…you will see tomorrow that one of those little babies might now be in my closet.
(Rachel – I can hardly believe that you bought all 3 of them on Friday…and the lipstick! You go girl!)
All of these shirts would look great with skinnies and some boots, and they would all look great layered under a cardigan well into the winter months!
And let’s imagine together how flippin’ awesome they would look under a blazer.
In the words of Rachel Zoe, I die.

And now, I would simply like to leave you with a few more images from Carly.
I’m telling ya, the girl knows her stuff.
Here she talks about layering necklaces.
And here she is talking about Do’s and Don’ts for leggings!
Try not to hate her. She can ROCK a pair of leggings like nobody’s business.
Carly….have you tried the HUE denim leggings that I talked about here?
I’m quite sure you would be a fan.
You will also be a fan of the snickerdoodle Neiman Marcus bars that I talk about in that same post.
Wait. I bet you don’t eat stuff like that….which is why you are able to look so amazing in the leggings above AND THE LEATHER LEGGINGS in your post today.
You go on with your bad self.
You look FIERCE! 🙂
I just thought of something. Maybe you are one of those people that does eat that kind of stuff, that doesn’t work out, and still looks like you look.
If that’s the case, I might have trouble continuing our friendship. 🙂

Now I would like to close with a note.
Dear Carly,
Thank you for providing me with endless inspirational pics,
thank you for giving me an “aha” moment,
and of course,
thank you for motivating me to put down the queso and chips,
and get my fanny back on the exercise bike!
So glad we are new bloggy friends!
Sincerely,
Sheaffer

Somehow I found you and Carly on my own through my obsession with Pinterest. Clearly you were meant to be cyber twins! Lol love both your perspectives, although truth be told, I shop more at Target than Nordstrom, so I might lean a bit to the Sheaffer side. I'm even thinking of starting my own blog.

If me, you and Carly went out, we'd have the best time! I can totally tell she's a chick I would LOVE! And hello? Genius idea wearing sleeveless in the fall! If we can wear scarves in July, we can wear tanks in the fall, right? If Pinterest tells me to and Carly tells me to, I think I should.

LOVE this post, and I HAVE to ask… did you ask your hubby to take the pictures??? Did he laugh and give you a strange look or was he compliant? Inquiring minds want to know 🙂

fun post!! love the big pics and seeing the full outfit!!! I discovered Carly that same day too, and really love her blog. Funny thing…That blue ruffled sleeveless shirt she's wearing? I have the white one and it's in my post tomorrow! 🙂 I'm totally going to do this sleeveless and boots thing. As soon as I put my flip flops away.

I love her too and one of the reasons is she wears her Frye boots as much as myself!
