I’ve got a question for all of you: Have you checked out eBay recently?!?
I’ve partnered with them several times over the last several years so I’m obviously totally drinking the eBay Kool-Aid over here! I’m working with them again today to make sure all of you ladies know about what they have to offer. If you haven’t been on the site in a bit, things are different now and everybody needs to know.
Do you know that eBay has approximately 1.1 billion listings at any given time? Let that sink in. ONE BILLION ITEMS. 81% of those 1 billion items are NEW, and most of those are listed as BUY IT NOW! Personally, I love the “buy it now” feature, because who has time to be always be checking back in on an auction these days?!?
They also have special events that can’t be missed. In fact, right now the coupon code PURCHASECR15 will get you 15% OFF (no minimum, max $100) of select CERTIFIED REFURBISHED items. And spoiler alert: I’m featuring a certified refurbished item in today’s post! (This deals ends at 11:59 p.m. on 12/18, so don’t delay.)
As y’all know, I’ve shopped eBay MANY times in the last several years. In addition to small vintage items for around the house (like a bread board, a tole tray, and a decorative bowl just to name a few), it’s also where I purchased our first air fryer (which we’ve used almost daily for a couple of years), my refurbished Dyson hair dryer (which changed my hair drying game), as well as our newest household gadget (WHICH CHANGED MY LIFE). This new gadget is an item that we’ve used every single day since receiving it, and I legitimately wonder how we ever lived without it and why in the world it took us so long to take the plunge. Click HERE for the post where I sing it’s praises.
Ladies. I also got an authenticated Louis Vuitton bag at the beginning of this year on eBay. AND IT’S GORGEOUS. I saved several hundred dollars on it, and it was BRAND NEW! So yes, I love shopping eBay! (Sidenote, y’all keep asking for a post on the bag. I promise to publish one soon!)
CERTIFIED REFURBISHED
Today’s post is all about items listed on eBay that are listed as “certified refurbished”.
What is Certified Refurbished?
When a product is Certified Refurbished, it is tested and checked to operate as a brand new item should. Many times it is as simple as the box being opened by mistake or for quality checks. Once the box has been opened companies cannot legally sell these items as New. Each item is inspected, rerun down the production line and triple checked for quality before being shipped.
A couple of years ago (in July of 2018), I shared with y’all how I shopped eBay for my Dyson certified refurbished hair dryer. Two and a half years later, I still love my hair dryer, and I’ve been 100% pleased with my purchase! I’ve never had even 1 minor problem with the hairdryer. That purchase has given me confidence that buying “certified refurbished” for myself as well as for gifts is a viable option. I love that when I buy certified refurbished items, I can do so knowing that I’m saving myself money AND I’m being eco-conscious which is a total WIN WIN!
There are soooooooo many “certified refurbished” items to choose from on eBay, but it made the most sense for me to grab another air fryer.
Why An Air Fryer?
The reason I decided to grab another air fryer was simple: we use ours constantly, and it was time for an upgrade.
When eBay reached out, they gave me several ideas for “certified refurbished” items I could choose to review (ex. coffee makers, Bose speakers, headphones, kitchen mixers, crockpots, blenders, etc). HOWEVER. The second I saw that air fryers were available, I knew that’s what I was getting.
So, I excitedly purchased this bad boy. And just fyi, today’s post isn’t about encouraging you to buy my specific air fryer (because there are several great air fryers on eBay). Today’s post is simply about convincing you that you need an air fryer in your life. #becauseyoudo
What Can You Make With An Air Fryer?
What can you make with an air fryer you ask?
PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING.
I’m constantly throwing frozen foods in it such as taquitos, chicken nuggets, French fries, tater tots, fried cheese, etc. It cooks these items so much faster than an oven, there’s less clean up, AND THE ITEMS ARE CRISPIER AND MORE DELICIOUS than if made in the oven. I also love using our air fryer to reheat leftover pizza.
But in addition to cooking and crisping packaged frozen food, there’s also thousands of other things you can use it to make.
I’m going to be sharing 3 recipes today, but let’s start with something that was a new one for me.
DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN HARD BOIL EGGS IN AN AIR FRYER?
I didn’t.
BUT YOU MOST CERTAINLY CAN.
Pop the eggs in the basket, set the temperature to 230 degrees, and set the timer for 16 minutes.
You’ll get hard boiled eggs that peel SUPER easily and that are cooked perfectly every time.
#MINDBLOWN
The dogs were super interested in what I was making on this particular day.
Who am I kidding, they are always interested when somebody is in the kitchen.
I had a hankering for egg salad last week, so I found this recipe and got to work. It was so good with the celery, onions, and dill! YUM!
I put it on some croissants and had the best little lunch for 3 days straight. I even shared a couple of sandwiches with a neighbor. Sadly, I’m the only one who enjoys egg salad at my house.
Well, not the only one.

For the next recipe, I browsed Pinterest and landed quickly on this Bang Bang shrimp. I loved it, Chris loved it, and Carter loved it.
First, I set up a little breading station with corn starch, buttermilk, and Panko bread crumbs.
I popped the breaded shrimp into the air fryer, sprayed them with some cooking spray, and then let them cook on one side for 5 minutes.
I flipped them and let them cook on the other side for another 3-5 minutes (just watch them), and they came out perfectly browned and crispy.
I love the crispy magic that an air fryer creates!
When they were in the air fryer, I whipped up a little Bang Bang sauce with mayo, sweet chili sauce, and siracha. It was delish.
But seriously, how good do these look?
They wouldn’t have achieved this level of crispiness in the oven, and I love that they are so much healthier than if I would have fried them.
I’m telling you, YOU NEED AN AIR FRYER IN YOUR LIFE.
Drizzle a little of the bang bang sauce on top and sprinkle with some chopped parsley for color!
And of course, keep some of the delicious sauce for dipping on the side.
I was proud of my Bang Bang shrimp.
And I was pumped that the whole family loved them! This recipe is definitely going in the rotation.

For the final NEW recipe I’m highlighting today, I went a little out of the box and decided on an air fryer dessert. You probably have everything on hand you need to make Air Fryer Baked Apples.
Half a couple of apples (we only eat Honeycrisp around here), and fill them with a mixture of butter, oats, cinnamon, flour, and maple syrup.
Pop them in the air fryer, and they come out soft and delicious!
Top them with ice cream or whipped cream and you’re ready to go!
So so good.
And all made possible with our handy dandy air fryer!
Seriously. If you don’t have any air fryer, get one today! And I encourage you to consider a certified refurbished air fryer on eBay. They are already a reduced price, and remember that the code PURCHASECR15 will get you an additional 15% OFF right now.

And just for fun, and in my quest to convince you that you need an air fryer, I thought I’d share another couple of air fryer recipe from the Sheaffer Told Me To archives. Yep, I’ve got archives y’all.
These chicken tenders are on a biweekly rotation at our house now and they are so simple to make! Buy tenderloins, coat them in a Dijon mustard and low fat mayo mixture, and then coat everything with panko bread crumbs and some additional seasoning. Look how crispy!
And you can click HERE for the taquitos you see below. The ingredient list is minimal: shredded pork, shredded cheese, tortillas, lime juice, and some seasoning is all you need (I used Chili Lime seasoning from Trader Joe’s)!
I rolled the tortillas up, and I was able to fit 5 easily in the air fryer. (I’d be able to fit 8-10 in the new air fryer, depending on how full I stuffed them).
The air fryer below is a 4.5 quart fryer, but they come in different sizes. If you have a large family, I think a larger size would be worth the investment. The one I’m highlighting at the beginning of today’s post is a 6qt.
The top of the food is what gets crispy (I sprayed Pam on the top of everything I’ve tried so far to ensure maximum crispiness), so to get the best results you need to flip your food mid way through the cooking process.
And look at the finished product! Those are some beautifully browned and crispy taquitos right there! (Now, full disclosure here, I stuffed my tortillas pretty full….so my taquitos looked a bit more like small burritos. #whatever)
And check out how easy air fryer clean up is. With both models, I literally just wipe out any drippings or crumbs. Sometimes I use soap and water, and sometimes I truly just wipe them out with a paper towel.
LADIES! Look how yummy they look! The whole family loved them, and I think Chris was their biggest fan. While eating dinner, he said “These are seriously good” several times. And he gave them an overall rating of a 9! I shared some with some neighbors, and they were huge fans too!
If you don’t have an air fryer in your life, you need to fix that today.

AIR FRYER COMPARISON AND OPTIONS
When comparing my old air fryer to my new air fryer, the differences are simple.
My old air fryer (directly above seen in pictures with taquitos) is smaller, but it has touch button automation for both the temperature and the cook time. My new air fryer (seen at the top of the post) is bigger, and you use a dial to set both the temperature and the cook time.
I definitely prefer the size of the new air fryer. It’s super helpful to have extra room to cook more food!
However, I prefer the touch button automation on my first air fryer for the cook time. I don’t mind setting the temperature with a dial, but I feel like the automation for the cook time enables a very specific cook time to be set. The dial on my newer model makes it more difficult to set an exact time.
I actually wish that this time I would have gone out on a limb with an air fryer that looks more like a toaster oven (like the red one directly below) to see what that’s about. I think it would have more space to cook than my first air fryer, but have all of the push button capability I love.

Like this air fryer! I love the look and the vibrant red color, although it also comes in black, stainless steel, and white as well. This air fryer and oven combo offers seven functions, so you can do everything from dehydrate and toast to bake and broil…and more! The built-in air fryer provides fast and even heat distribution for air frying with little to no oil. Plus, it’s designed with a built-in rotisserie, variable temperature and timer controls, an oven light and accessories to cook all your favorites.
Y’all. This model is regularly $249, but if you buy it certified refurbished it’s ONLY $99!
And then today, you can use code PURCHASECR15 for 15% OFF the already low price!
WHAT! A! DEAL!
And remember, it comes in black, white, and stainless too.
This one would look great in a bright white kitchen, but it comes in black as well. This model lets you fry, grill, bake, toast, and roast all your favorite foods – with little to no oil needed. AND it comes with a dual-layer rack and 25+ recipe book to get you started. You can use the rack to air fry two types of food simultaneously, placing one food under the rack and another on top which is awesome! Essentially, the rack doubles the cooking surface area! This one is small, so it would definitely be better for cooking for just 1 or 2. It would also be a good starter model.
And again, you can use code PURCHASECR15 for 15% OFF the already low price!

OTHER CERTIFIED REFURBISHED OPTIONS
Before you go, check out some of the other certified refurbished items that eBay is offering right now! There are several things on this collage that I know my people would love. Chris owns a Bose speaker just like this (they are on my gift guides every year) and Carter has and loves the Bose wireless headphones.
When clicking around on the links below, make sure the item says “certified refurbished”. Sometimes these items sell out so quickly that they might be replaced with a new item, so look out for that.
- Kitchenaid Mixer / 2. air fryer / 3. Bose wireless headphones / 4. speed hand blender / 5. indoor smokeless grill / 6. electric tea kettle / 7. espresso machine / 8. Bose Bluetooth speaker / 9. circular saw / 11. Apple MacBook Air / 12. Roomba / 13. Dewalt Combo Kit
You should totally check out ebay for all of their SPOTLIGHT DEALS too!
And remember, if you buy certified refurbished you can save yourself some money AND help the environment while gifting your people items you know they’ll love! AND DON’T FORGET TO USE THE CODE PURCHASECR15 for 15% OFF.
Other eligible items:
*This certified refurbished nonstick grill/griddle looks awesome. I love that it’s a combo!
*This certified refurbished Bose SoundLink Revolve Bluetooth speaker would be a great gift for any guy on your list!
*These Beats by Dre Wireless Headphones are 42% OFF and a totally incredibly deal!
*We need a new crockpot, and I think this one looks great!

So much goodness happening over on eBay right now! A huge thank you to eBay for sponsoring this post!

I just love your blog! I read it every day that you publish it! Something to look forward to. I have been thinking about an air fryer. At the end of the day, which brand/model do you really prefer? The Phillips or the Kalorik? Thank you!
Sheaffer says
You’re too sweet, Meredith! Thank you so much for being a loyal reader!!!! I appreciate you so much. My new one is a Philips, and the old one is a Gourmia. I prefer the size of the Philips, but I prefer how my old Gourmia makes it easier to set temperature and cook time. So, in a perfect world, I would look for a large air fryer that has the push button capability that my Gourmia has. I realllllly wish this time I would have sprung for one that looks more like a toaster oven to see what that’s about. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Hard boiled eggs?! Mind blown. If this works (currently trying it now!)… you are absolutely my new favorite person.

What a timely post this is because I just got an air fryer for the first time about a week ago. Already love it!

Just a little tip for easy clean up – you can get parchment paper air fryer liners sized to fit your brand of air fryer on amazon.

WOW! What a great tip!!!!!! Thank you, Kelly!!!!!
