Um, let me think about that for a second….
HECK. YES.
I have 2 pairs of designer jeans that I adore (both from Nordstrom).
I don’t talk about them all that much since they are so expensive, so I tend to talk more often about my Vigoss jeans (because they are much more affordable).
HOWEVER.
The 2 pairs of designer jeans I own (1 is AG and 1 is Paige), I actually do wear a lot.
I know that many of you would never think of paying so much for jeans (and I totally get that) because you want several pair to choose from and need them to be well-priced. Still, there are others that absolutely swear by your designer jeans and say that you are willing to have only 1 or 2 pair of jeans if it means they can be ones that you love (even if they are super expensive).
I see both points.
I ordered 5 different pairs of jeans (from 5 different designers: AG, Paige, Hudson, Joe’s, and J Brand) for this post to try them all on and find a pair that I liked.
WELL.
I fell in LOVE with the pair that you will see throughout this post. And no surprise here,
they are AG.
Which is the same designer as one of the pairs I already own.
AG just fits me like a dang glove.
And I’m going to do something a little bit different today.
In addition to showing off my new jeans, I’m also going to take you along on a trip to one of our local favorite restaurants that’s on the McKinney Square: Sugarbacon!
Here I am at Sugarbacon, about to get my EAT ON, in some super stylin’ jeans. 😉
Please notice how they are the perfect length on me to wear with converse, flats, and ankle booties.
Check out all of the outfit details here:
sweater / my exact pair of jeans HERE (but almost sold out) / AG jean options HERE (with a little bit more distressing) and HERE (with no distressing)/ converse / ray-bans / blingy hoops / $18 chevron necklace / similar cognac crossbody HERE
For size reference, I’m true to size in AG ankle skinny jeans and wear a 27.

Here’s a shot of the outside of the restaurant.
It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but that’s a great patio that you are looking at on the right!
And the inside is super cool.
It’s industrial, but still very warm and inviting. It’s totally cozy!
I love the brick walls, and the lighting and overall ambiance is fabulous.
And the menu?
It’s AMAZING.
And the service is top notch.
I’ve eaten there 3 times now, and every single person I’ve come into contact with is very knowledgeable about the menu offerings and just plain nice!
We went for lunch, so Chris got a burger.
He considers himself a burger expert :), and he thought this was one
of the very best burgers he’s ever had.
EVER.
In his whole life.
#that’ssayin’somethin’
And the fries are awesome too! I happen to be very picky about my fries, and these passed all my tests. Seasoned well, crispy (but not too crispy), and not too thin. I’m not a fan of shoestring fries.
I got a salmon blt, and it was good, but next time I think I’m going to get one of their fancier offerings (like the shrimp and grits)!
But what I really want to talk about is this:
the chocolate hazelnut icebox pie.
Because ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhemmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmgeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
It’s thick, and cold, and fudgey (it’s a word) and comes with some crunchy hazelnuts on top, homemade whipped cream, and fresh strawberries.
It is dessert PERFECTION.
It’s a good thing my jeans had some stretch in them, because I ate 75% of the dessert myself.
I even ate the last bite when Chris wasn’t looking.

So back to the jeans.
My exact pair is almost sold out (I bought them when they were being price matched about a month ago, and only 27s are left right now), but they are an AG legging ankle jean, and there are several still available HERE.
These jeans obviously aren’t going to work for you if you are tall, but at almost 5’4″, these are perfect for me. They hit me at just the right place to wear with converse, flats, and booties.
And they are fitted in the calves, which makes them great for tall boots as
well because they tuck in beautifully.
Click HERE for an assortment of jeans from AG.
They all have fantastic reviews.
And one more shot.
Please pay special attention to my converse.
Click HERE for this grey striped option that I’m hoping isn’t itchy.
It would look just as cute with the ankle jeans and converse!
Just for grins, when I got home, I threw my red Hunter boots on with the same outfit.
Because I felt like this outfit was made for red boots.
And it was.
See how great the jeans look with tall boots too!
The jeans are very fitted (but stretchy, so still comfy), and they look awesome tucked into boots.
If you don’t have rain boots, I would highly suggest getting them.
I love my Hunters, but they don’t have to be Hunters.
You can check out Chooka boots (love the brown buckles on them) as an alternative, and they are half the price!
I’m kind of dying over THIS short brown and red version from Sperry.
You can also check out THESE from Joule’s and BP even has some absolutely darling solids and some patterned ones HERE.
And completely unrelated, a reader (Hi Robyn R.) sent me a facebook message with an awesome idea for our favorite $8 earrings as Halloween gifts for teachers!
Thanks for the great idea Robyn!
And since I know not all of us are as talented as Robyn, I had my friend Andrea whip up a quick printable for us!
Right click on this printable, hit “save as”, print it out, and then stick the earrings in the “o”s.
It prints out as a 4×6 and would make a fun little present for anybody!
Think teachers, your sister, a bestie, or a teenage daughter!
Click HERE for the earrings in black or hematite!
Have a great Monday girls!
And thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

It's 5:01 AM and now I want to throw on my jeans and head to the Square for pulled pork…and maybe a spicy drink.

I fully support the need for AG jeans. I love my first pair (Stevie fit from Anthropologie) and just purchased the Stella fit from Bloomingdales. Worth the price tag in my opinion.

So what exactly is the difference between designer jeans and regular jeans? Do they actually fit better or last longer or are you just paying for the brand? Just curious because the reviews don't seem like they are better than the lower priced options nordstrom sells, and I've never bought designer jeans.
Sheaffer says
I would say the main difference is how they hold up throughout the day (and even after multiple wears). The ones I have fit EXACTLY the same at the end of the day; they don't sag in the hiney, the knees aren't baggy, and the waist is still fitted. I'm on my phone now, but when I get back home today, I'm going to add this info to my post. It was a great question!

Also, especially with AG, nothing compares to their washes and the extra details- they have a vintage-looking wash to them and I haven't been able to find comparative washes in other jeans. Plus they often add subtle distressing to the pocket edges, etc. and it's details like this that make them so unique. And most pairs are very soft. AG has spoiled me from any other jean! Oh and they make your tush look amazing 😉

Thank you for replying! I've always wanted to take the plunge, and thought about it during the anniversary sale, but have just been so hesitant! Maybe it's time… 🙂

I would love a pair of designer jeans! Need to save some $$$ first! Unrelated question: what socks do you wear with booties and converse? I wore Toms booties the other day with no socks because I didn't have any that didn't show, and I was ready to throw them away at the end of the day because of the blisters!
Susan says
Sara, I bought a 3-pack of short socks at Nordstrom's to wear with booties. The pack comes with two white pair and one black pair. Possibly the Zella fitness liner sock. They come to about the ankle bone and are not meant to be seen. For the lower shoes, I would recommend a Smart Wool secret sleuth sock, or Smart Wool liner, meant to be worn with low silhouettes. The Smart Wool feels great, even when it's warm outside.
Sheaffer says
Hi Sara! I actually have several pair I LOVE from Old Navy. They were just in the check out line, and so I decided to try them out! They are great! AND CHEAP!!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂 p.s. So sorry about the blisters! That's awful!
Bethany says
Oh my goodness AG has been my favorite brand for years. Nothing compares in designer Jeans. Im a shortie too and my favorite style is the Stilt Cigarette and they are priced matching them right now! Happy Monday!

I am wearing the rust tunic, with the new baby blardigan and the gray leggings, it's like I'm in my pj's. You have become my new personal shopper, thanks!

Hi there! Love your blog. What made you choose the AG jeans over the others? Can you tell us a little bit about the others as well? Were they all just as comfortable but didn't fit you as well? How would you describe your body type? You look pretty petite. Do you carry your weight in your tummy, hips, thighs… Thanks for the great info.
Sheaffer says
Hi there! Most of the others were too long on me…which I could of course could get hemmed, but since these were perfect on me, they won. 🙂 They also were the softest, and I'm a sucker for soft! I'm almost 5'4", and I definitely carry my weight in my tummy (and boobs)…not that the boobs affect my jean fit. 🙂 Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
Those jeans do fit you like a glove!! Like they were made for you! I wonder if they are like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and will fit me just as well?!?! And second everything you said about Sugarbacon…tasty little spot!
Kim C says
Sugarbacon is also one of our new faves! Their cocktails are amazing! I had the yummy scallops and the banana pudding is to die for!!
Tiffany Bagalini says
There's definitely a difference in the way designer jeans fit than less expensive, however; I think the makers of less expensive jeans are getting better. I'm on the curvy, hourglass side and Joe's jeans are amazing for my body shape. I have a pair of AG's too, and they are my go to skinny jeans with boots 🙂 I have one pair of Paige, and they are my "I gave up chips and salsa for a year" jeans (so obvi, they don't get much wear!)
The Rohman Family says
Ack! Headed to Nordstrom this weekend to try on some AGs. I mean, where have I been all this time?!? Everyone seems to know and love them! I just bought a pair of 7 for all mankind and I do think they hold up very well through the entire wear…no saggy hiney, etc.
Narci says
The burger from Sugarbacon is delicious!! Now I want that for lunch!! Yum!! Also, those jeans are amazing!! I am going to check them out!!
Jennifer Hamilton says
Are there any AG jeans that have a slightly longer inseam? I'm 5'7" and I think they would be too short on me.
Paula says
I am out on the jeans! Just can't pay that. But, that food! I'd pay every penny for that food! 😉

Cute outfit!
Cecelia says
I’m thinking about getting a pair of Shorelines… do you where socks with them? Do they slip down in the back? Too tight? Too loose?
Thanks in advance!
Sheaffer says
I do not wear socks with them…and they don’t slip! True to size for me! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Cecelia says
Do your feet get sweaty in them?
Sheaffer says
If it’s really hot, yes. I do have have some no show socks I wear on the really hot days, but they peek out a little bit, so I don’t like to.
