Ladies, it’s November 20th. HOW did this happen? I’m not sure about y’all, but I AM READY FOR THANKSGIVING! Bring on the family, the football, and the food!
So I’m curious… What’s your Thanksgiving style? Does your family dress up? Or is comfort more of a priority? I try to hit a nice happy medium. I mean, I want to be comfy of course, but I also want to be cute in case we snap some family photos, ya know? Well, I’ve got 5 Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas for y’all today. They are all definitely comfy, but you’ll also be cute in case you find yourself in a group pic. 😉

OUTFIT #1
Okay, let’s talk about what are truly some perfect closet staples. This relaxed v-neck from Madewell is new to me, and it’s so much better than the Madewell whisper thin tees that I’ve been wearing for years. This one is more substantial (not nearly as thin) and has a more relaxed fit. I’m wearing a medium.
And I think there’s a place in everybody’s closet for a longer line cardigan like this open front cardigan. There are a lot of super casual ones out there, but this one leans a bit on the dressier side and would be perfect for the office. Still, it also looks great with jeans and sneakers too. I would suggest sizing down. I’m wearing a small. And I’m super pumped because the cardigan is currently ON SALE!

I named these jeans a MUST HAVE years ago… and here I am, years later, still wearing them and still loving them. So let’s talk about them once again!
I mean, I’ve been screaming and shouting about my love for these jeans for years and years now… BUT IT’S BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST THAT GOOD. My tagline for the jeans is that they will make you appear 2 inches taller and 10 pounds thinner than you already are! 😉
They are stretchy, but they hold their shape, and they are seriously so comfy. The waistband is awesome. And seriously, they are the most flattering pair of jeans I own. You will feel amazing in them. I’m wearing my regular size 4, but many size down.
AND GREAT NEWS! THEY ARE ON SALE RIGHT NOW!

This is the jewelry I’m wearing in all 5 outfits in today’s post. Yep… I’m wearing the same earrings, necklaces, and bracelets in all of the today’s outfits. What can I say? The pieces seem to look good with everything.

These booties are one of my favorite purchases so far for fall. More about them in outfit #2 because you can see them better, but they are the perfect height for me with these boot cut jeans.

If you love the cardi but would prefer it with an outfit that’s a bit more casual, pair it with ankle jeans and sneakers, or maybe the camo loafers I’ve been bragging about.

OUTFIT #2
If you want to go a little nicer than jeans, I’ve got a great option for you with these ankle flare cords. I will say the lighting in this picture makes them appear a bit lighter than they are. In real life, I would describe them as a true chocolate brown.
They’re a stretch corduroy, not the rigid corduroy of our youth! Haha! They’re comfy, flattering, and totally on trend with the flare ankle fit. True to size for me, I’m wearing the 4. The sizes are definitely limited in the exact cords I’m wearing, but I found some similar straight leg cords HERE.

I’m in love with this sweater. The neutral tones, the stripes, and the wide split hem are all fabulous. It’s very soft and a great mid-weight. It will keep you warm, but you won’t be hot. It does run on the large side, so I would definitely suggest sizing down. I’m wearing the small here and it’s still a relaxed and roomy fit.

The booties I had in my closet were all a little dated, so I wanted a new pair this year. These checked all my boxes: a beautiful neutral color, suede, a mid-height heel (not too high, not too low), a new look, and they zip up on the side. I much prefer a bootie with a zipper so I don’t have to fight with the bootie when putting it on. Comfy and true to size for me.

They look great with dresses and skirts too.
Or maybe flat shoes are more your speed for Thanksgiving Day! I GET IT!
Here’s the same outfit, but with the leopard Mary Jane’s I’ve been talking about for the last couple of months.

These leopard Mary Janes are undeniably fabulous. I absolutely love them. Very comfy, true to size, and I’m able to slip them off and on easily without having to undo the buckle. If you’re not a fan of the leopard, they come in 17 other colorways (some solids, some patterns).
UPDATE FROM LAST WEEK: I wore these shoes last week to chaperone a high school field trip to the Kimball Art Museum. I wore them all over the museum, walked a couple of blocks to lunch, walked back to the bus, and then ran from the back high school parking lots to the front of the school after we arrived back at school so we could miss the outgoing traffic. AND THEY WERE COMFY THE WHOLE TIME.

OUTFIT #3
Maybe your family dresses up a bit for Thanksgiving. If you do, I’ve got the perfect option for you!
I’m straight up obsessed with this sweater dress. It fits my frame very well. It’s not body conscious, but it’s not boxy either. Just a perfect relaxed fit that skims the body, but doesn’t hug it. I’m wearing the chestnut, but it also comes in ivory and heather grey. The chestnut is a rich brown that I think could be styled in several different ways. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
sweater dress / layered gold necklace / multicolor beaded necklace / black bag / black knee boot options
Basically, it’s the perfect option if you need to dress up, but you still want to be incredibly comfy.

green & turquoise bracelets / textured gold bangle
The bag is DARLING and super affordable. At this price, it’s obviously faux leather, which I’m fine with. It is very well made, and I love the style and shape. The buckle styling on the strap is especially cute. There’s a magnetic closure, an inner zippered pouch, and the strap is adjustable. All very nice details for a bag at this price point.
My boots are several years old, but I l have linked a landing page for black knee boot options.

OUTFIT #4
So this outfit is just a basic jeans and sweater combo… but it’s kicked up a notch with the washed black jeans.
striped sweater / washed black jeans / black bag / suede booties / sunglasses (forest/brown) / leaf earrings / layered gold necklace / multicolor beaded necklace
The sweater is a good one. You know I love the slouchy and relaxed fit, and I’m almost always drawn to a stripe. The neutral background with the small black stripe is classic and actually pretty chic. It’s lightweight, and it drapes nicely. It does run a bit big, so I sized down to a small.

green & turquoise bracelets / textured gold bangle
These washed black Wit and Wisdom jeans have added some much needed dimension to my closet. They’re a heavier denim and have a bit more structure than most of my WW jeans, and I’m so excited to have them. They’re good with booties, with flats, with mules, and with fashion sneakers. They hit at the ankle and they have a frayed hem. True to size for me, I’m wearing the 4.

OUTFIT #5
I’m wearing the must have jeans again, and I had no choice but to bring out the must have sweater again.
I’m powerless against it.
must have sweater / sunglasses (forest/brown) / must have boot cut jeans / suede booties
This sweater truly is the definition of a perfect closet basic. AND GREAT NEWS! I can’t believe it, but some of the colors and sizes are still on sale.
I love the way it looks, and I love the way it feels.
This sweater is super soft, it’s not itchy at all, it’s lightweight, and it has what I think is a perfect relaxed fit. It doesn’t hug your body at all, and it just drapes really nicely. It’s a little bit longer in the front than in the back, and it does have a loose band on the bottom, so you can wear it out or with a half-tuck and it looks great both ways (but y’all know I almost always go for the half-tuck).
It has a ribbed neckline, ribbed cuffs, a ribbed hem, and a little ribbed detail down the middle of the sweater. The ribbed detailing just gives it some nice interest and elevates it a bit. I would definitely suggest sizing down in this sweater. I’m almost always a medium in sweaters, and I’m wearing a small in this sweater. Even in the small, I still consider it quite roomy.

So I’ve gotta know… which outfit matches your Thanksgiving style the most? And while you’re at it… what’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish? You can keep your ham and turkey, but give me alllllll the sides! 😉
A huge THANK YOU to Nordstrom and Collective Voice for sponsoring this post.

I know you said you get your usual size 4 in the itty bitty bootcut jeans, but do you get the regular length or petite? Some brands I order petite and some I can do regular without them pooling at my feet.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Elizabeth! I get the regular length because I want to wear them with something with a bit of a heel. The petites are way too short on me to do that. I’m 5’4″, but I have long legs for my height and no torso. 🙂 Hope this helps! How tall are you, and are you wanting to wear with flats or with a heel of some sort?
Erika Slaughter says
I vote #3! This year I’ll have face point on and possibly a foam finger BUT you should wear #3! ha!
Shay Shull says
You have SO MANY cute outfits in this post! I cannot believe it’s already turkey time?!
Chrissy says
