Ladies. I think I’m going to need a taco or 7 today. In fact, I might need one every hour on the hour just to make it through. I’m exhausted, in the best possible way of course…but I just know tacos will fortify my strength and make everything better. #theyalwaysdo
I highlighted many of my favorite items yesterday (click HERE for yesterday’s post), but I’ve got MORE ITEMS today! If you’re new around these parts, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale introduces fall and winter items at a deeply reduced introductory price. The items are introduced with SALE PRICES, and then when the sale is over, the prices go back up. It’s Nordstrom’s way of encouraging us to start buying fall stuff when it is still 100 degrees outside. AND IT WORKS. Because the deals are fantastic. #andweareallsuckersforagreatdeal
So…..Turn off the t.v., get your kids a snack and tell them to go read quietly (or let’s be real, hand them an ipad! ha!), and ignore your husband for the next several minutes. GAME FACE GIRLS.
Here are the new items I tried on yesterday:
THIS sweater is one of those wardrobe basics that I think people will reach for again and again. I liked the deep forest green, but the camel and the grey also look great to me! For size reference, I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size. I’m also wearing the Frye bag I spotted in the catalog, and it is STUNNING in person. The leather is such a rich deep color and is gorgeous. Sadly, it was a bit smaller than I was anticipating, and I was looking for a cross body with more room. Still, I know it will be a perfect fit for many of you!
side slit sweater / vigoss jeans (Order a size down, I’m wearing a 26.) / rae necklace / av earrings / lucky booties (true to size for me)/ frye cross body bag

I showed this grey military jacket yesterday with a cream tee and some vigoss jeans, but today I’m showing it with a rust colored tee and some colored jeans. I got the tee in grey as well, and I sized up to a medium. It’s very soft and an amazing price at $15.90. (It is dry clean only, so be aware of that.) And like I said yesterday, I adore the jacket. In fact, it is in my Top 5 items from the sale! The collar is what really does it for me. 😉 I sized up to a medium (I often do in jackets), and it was an online recommendation to size up as well.
The olive jeans weren’t something I was looking for, but I’m so glad I spotted them hanging on the back of a t-shirt rack. I got a 28 in store, so I thought I was having to size up. However, online shows that the 28 is equal to a 4, and a 4 would be true to size for me. At almost 5’4″ they were long on me. I could of course cuff them, but I’m going to get them altered to a perfect ankle length. They will be great with flats, booties, and tall boots as well! These were an awesome find at $37.90!!! I loved the color mixing in this outfit: olive jeans, rust tee, grey jacket, taupe booties, and gold in the jewelry! COME ON FALL!!!!
tee / military jacket / olive green jeans / rae necklace / av earrings / lucky booties /
I was also wearing THIS fossil watch (love the raised face!) and THIS bracelet (so sparkly!).

If you remember from yesterday, I told y’all that THIS necklace was one of my favorite items from the sale! It’s hard to tell in pictures, but the little balls are faceted and really do a great job of catching the light! See it in the below picture? So pretty!
In the below picture, I’m wearing AG SKINNY JEANS! I named an almost identical pair of AG JEANS a SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUST HAVE earlier this year, and if you’ve been considering them, you should totally get them at this price (and go to the post HERE to see additional pics of them)! They were true to size for me, I’m wearing a 27. They fit like a glove and might be the most favorite pair of jeans you’ve ever owned. Yeah, they’re that good. They are definitely an investment, but you will wear the snot out of them, and your butt will look fantastic while doing so. 😉 Concerning the LUSH shirt, you will definitely have to wear a cami because it is VERY low cut. I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size.
This outfit shows how to mix black and brown together for a simple and classic look. I love how mixing the colors makes it interesting! And you cannot get any more sassy than these boots.

There will be some regular posts in the next several weeks, including Bachelorette recaps of course…but there will also be MORE 2016 NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE COVERAGE. I told you I would be your special correspondent, and I’m a woman of my word. 😉
Don’t forget to enter yourself into some contests I’m running over on instagram for some fun prizes! You can do so by simply tagging friends and encouraging them to follow along with all of the anniversary sale coverage on any of my anniversary sale posts! You can also do what Kim did yesterday! (Kim is a reader that has been around since the very beginning, and I now consider her a friend! Thanks for the pic, Kim!) Post pictures on instagram, tag @sheaffertoldmeto, and tag the pic #goodlordynordy. I’m hoping it will be a fun way to find other readers and see what everybody is buying!
This is one of the pics Kim posted to her ig, and look how darling she is in her Pleione shirt (it comes in tons of colors and patterns) and the same Vigoss jeans that I’ve been wearing the last 2 days! She feels like the shirt is true to size, and she sized down 1 size in the jeans just like I did!

Before you go today, I would like to open nominations for the 2016 Anniversary Sale Special Mama Giveaway! If you want to read more about why I started this giveaway series, click HERE. To see all of the previous Special Mama contests, click HERE. The winner during this giveaway needs to be local, or needs to at least be able to get to Dallas or McKinney on July 25th, because I will be shopping with the winner! We will be going on a $1,000 SHOPPING SPREE TO NORDSTROM TO SHOP THE ANNIVERSARY SALE!!!! I CANNOT WAIT to shower the winner with some extra love!
Here’s a picture of Candace, our first Special Mama winner two years ago (and the mama who inspired the giveaway). Last year I had a wonderful time with Penny, and I can’t wait to meet and treat this year’s special mom!
So here’s how you nominate a deserving mama (or yourself!):
*The mom you nominate must be the mom of a child with special needs. I have a heart for these amazing moms that give so much of themselves to help their children, and I want to honor and celebrate them!
*You must leave a blog comment on today’s post with the name of the mom you are nominating. And again, please feel free to nominate yourself. In year’s past, some people chose simply to leave a name, which is fine! Others have chosen to honor the mom they are nominating by telling a bit about their story and what makes them such a special mama!
*The winner will be chosen with a random number generator and will be announced this coming Wednesday (July 20th), so please check back to see who the lucky mama is going to be! The winner (or the person who nominated the winner) will only have 24 hours to contact me. If the winner cannot get here to go shopping on July 25th or does not contact me within 24 hours, another winner will be chosen. Please only nominate people that you are pretty sure will be able to shop with me on the 25th starting at 10:00 a.m. I want to be able to shop with the mom, take her to lunch, and present here with a couple of other gifts as well! And please feel free to nominate as many ladies as you would like!
Have a wonderful weekend with your people!

You looked so pretty in the black top and knee high boots. I was so excited to read your posts yesterday and today. You make it all so fun. I ordered those black pants yesterday.
Sheaffer says
Thank you so much, Kathy! I know the blog world is totally monopolized with Anniversary Sale posts right now (which I’m sure can be a bit annoying), but I’m too excited about all of the great deals to not talk about it! So happy to know that the posts are helpful and fun! Whew! Thanks for taking the tie to leave the comment. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Meg says
Can I ask what is probably a dumb question? I love the Lucky Brand perforated booties, but HOW would you wear them? I guess you can’t do socks, so do you wear them more early fall? What goes with them?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Meg! Yes…early fall and all spring! Heck, you could even wear them now if you wanted to! They are the PERFECT transition shoe for early fall when you have no idea what to put on your feet! If it’s really cold, you will need to transition to something else! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kendal Jarrett says
Jean Anne Marshall! The most giving and loving mama to her son Kase.
Morgan Pistocco says
I would love to nominite my sister in law- Lauren Clifton. She is an outstanding mom to precious Luke, who is Autistic. Lauren tirelessly gives of herself every day to help Luke reach his maximum potential. He has come so far already because of his amazing momma! Lauren is pregnant now with her second and I would love to help her feel as special as possible!
Darci Watkins says
Kristen Jepsen
Sarah Lewis says
I would love to nominate Michelle Gabbard! She is an amazing momma with a daughter and then had twin boys (after thinking she couldn’t have anymore kids). One of her twins (Kason) has cerebral palsy and cortical vision impairment. She’s amazingly selfless and is so deserving of a shopping spree!

Jamie McCormick says
Jane Hale. Her son has a CHD and is now an ambassador for Make A Wish. She is constantly advocating for children and recently had a government official visit her home so that she could explain how his stance on healthcare puts our children at risk.
Julie Rowden says
I would like to nominate my sister, Jill Frost. She is the absolute, best mom to my 2 year old nephew Walker, who has Down Syndrome.
Jamie McCormick says
Sarah Null. Her son has hydrocephalus. Her family founded the walk in DFW when they realized nothing was set up for the metroplex. I can’t imagine worrying every time my child spiked a fever or vomited that it might be a brain issue.
Kasey Langhofer says
jenni Lynn Williams
April kinder says
Janet Trowbridge–Janet is a single mom with a child with special needs. She hasn’t been able to work since January due to her daughter being in the hospital for 15 weeks. I know she would love some pampering.
Kristin Seifried says
Shannon Bollenbach-she has two special needs children, both special needs from a rare cancer that both her sons have. Her 6 year old who was extremely special needs just passed away from the terrible cancer. Her almost 3 year old is still battling the same cancer. Both boys have special needs because the cancer drugs and chemo that they had to take at such an early age. It basically fried their brains and insides and now they are very mentally and physically disabled. She has lost her husband, house and all her possessions because she has spent 6 years taking care of her babies and living out of hospital rooms. She lives in OKC but I will make 100% sure she gets to Dallas. I will personally drive her. I want to go to lunch on the McKinney square!

Kim Kinney says
I can’t think of anyone who deserves this more then my friend Emily George!! She has a precious daughter with microcephaly. Emily quit her job as a teacher to stay home and care for Cate’s needs. She is always putting her family first so it would be awesome to put her first this time!
Kim says
I nominated my sister, Kelly, last year as a mom to two Autistic boys and a third little guy running around. I only thought I knew how strong she was last summer when I nominated her, but this year she’s really proven to me the depth and strength of the human soul and a fierce momma.
Last August her husband of 12 years and father to her three boys passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He was 46 years old and in good health, so this came as a complete blind side to the family. My sister has shown me in the past year how truly brave and strong she is. Her two eldest sons, both Autistic, went back to school after being home schooled, and thanks to her diligent teaching in years past, thrived in the classroom. She has had to fiercely stand up to the school to make sure they were receiving all of the services they were entitled to even when they are doing so well and the school wanted to back off on some of the services. She has honored her husband’s memory at every turn with the boys, making a memory book with them of their favorite stories with him. The boys are coming together as best friends, the oldest teaching the youngest to ride his bike without training wheels and teaching his middle brother all about MineCraft. I can’t imagine losing my husband, my best friend, my partner in crime. And I especially cannot imagine losing the father to my children. I look up to her every day for how to handle the toughest life can possibly throw at you. She has spent the past year putting absolutely everyone and everything else ahead of herself and deserves to be spoiled!!!!
Kim Kauffman says
Love that outfit with the rust tee and the jacket. So cute! I feel like I LOVE so many things this year. It helps so much to have you highlight things because it’s hard for me to get out to shop without my kids. You saved me so much time and frustration yesterday! (And who am I kidding, I’m dragging them back in again today as well.) Happy Friday!
Michelle says
I nominate April Cook. She is the mama of a miracle baby girl. All through April’s pregnancy she planned for the birth of her daughter knowing that doctors said her baby girl would not survive long. Savannah has proved everyone wrong, except her mama, April knew Savannah was meant for great things, and she’s doing them!
Paulette Fletcher says
I’d like to nominate my sister Katie Wright. She is a great mom to her special needs son who has Jouberts Syndrome a rare genetic disorder that happens to 1 in 100,000. She has made some huge changes in her life recently and has also lost about 40lbs and could definitely use the new wardrobe.
Emma says
Emma Burgher – I am a mother of four, two adopted special needs and two bio children.
Caroline Tew says
I would love to nominate my amazing sister, Ansley Tew. She is a single mom of 3 (currently going through a nasty divorce) her oldest son is non-verbal Autistic. We help her out as much as we can as her family support but she works full time and still continues to be this incredible mama! This would just make her entire year to go get to shop with you and take time away from the craziness that’s her life for just a brief moment!
Thank you for what you do for all these special mamas! They all deserve this! I obviously am just a little biased to my sister. 🙂
Debra Graham says
Denise Yeatts- single mother of two sweet kiddos. She works 3+ jobs to make ends meet. She puts her son, with Down Syndrome, and daughter’s needs above her own always and could use a fresh new wardrobe! 🙂
Tiffany says
Karen Kaighan – amazing mom of three with a daughter who has been through so so much! Would love to see her be spoiled by a shopping spree!!
Kate Brooks says
My sister, Austin Stratton. She is the strongest person I know. Her and her husband met when he had hodgkin’s lymphoma and dated through his battle. She has 4 children; 7, 5, 4, 2 months. Her 5 year old drowned at 17 months and by the grace of God survived after being in icy for several days. Her two youngest were born at 31 weeks with the same level 3 brain bleed, and have both had disabilities that have come with that. Because of this she can’t work and is mommy full time, spending 2-3 days a week in downtown Dallas at Therapy with them. This has been their new normal the past 4 years. She has developed the strongest level of strength I have seen, in having to literally fight for her children’s lives. She always puts her family before herself and doesn’t make a single complaint. I couldn’t think of a better person to nominate for this.
Lindsay says
I kind of went nuts at the sale yesterday – and then today, I’m scrolling through your post, get down to the picture of Kim and my first thought was “How in the world did I miss that?!?!?” It’s now also on it’s way to my house 🙂

I would love to nominate Sharon White. She is my sister in law and is the best friend and most loving mom to her son Jack who has Downs. She is his everything! Sharon lost her daughter when she was only 18 years old after a tough fight with leukemia. Michaelasarmy.org. She deserves this shopping spree more than anyone I know!
Tara says
I want to nominate my friend Vicki. She lives in Keller and has 3 children. Her middle child Emme is a spunky funloving 10 year old girl that not only has Down syndrome but is also a cancer survivor!! I am in awe daily of Vicki! She is such an advocate for not only Emme but so many Downs kids and Cancer kids in our community. If that weren’t enough to keep you busy she also travels with her oldest daughters competitive cheer squad and never misses any of her sons baseball games! This mama could definitely use a shopping spree!
Megan Martin says
Jill Adler! She’s a super-mama to three kids including a son with autism. She’s an absolute inspiration – advocate, researcher and awareness-builder! Her social media posts have changed the way I think about and interact with kids with autism and their parents. She has been studying speech language pathology the last few years (determined to help other families!) and has spent much of the summer away from her family – out of town doing clinical internships. Prett, pretty please…pick her!!!

I love your special moms day…touches my heart so much!! Let me know if you need a helper that day! And love the gray jacket and orange cardi on you!!!
Lindsay Stewart says
I would love to nominate my friend Laura Forney. She is a mom to 4 girls! One of whom has pretty severe needs. Mostly nonverbal, wheelchair bound and has now begun having seizures. Her condition is so rare that I don’t think there are ANY other kids in the US who have it. She has a shunt in her head as well as many other needed interventions. Laura and her husband parent her with grace and bravery and her girls are amazing sisters. She is also a public school teacher!!
Tori Hoffman says
Hi Sheaffer!!
I would like to nominate my much deserving mama for this wonderful giveaway. My brother was [finally] diagnosed with mental retardation and autism 6 years back.(The doctors could never lay a finger on what he had) When he was just a baby he was told he would never walk or talk, thankfully he overcame this awful assumption, but throughout the years he has encountered many other health issues. Just to name a few epilepsy and Tourette’s. My mother spends time in and time out catering to Kameron’s every needs, and I think she would be more than joyed to be able to pamper herself. I’m nominating her because I know she never would nominate herself seeing that what she does everyday is just her normal life as a momma and nothing out of the ordinary.
Her name is Julie Hoffman
Email: wraps4u@verizon.net
Thank you!!

Kerry is funny, upbeat, hard-working, and adorable! =) Kerry and her older son’s ABA therapist ended up opening an ABA center to help other kids with autism reach their potential. Hi there! I love your blog and look forward to all of your updates and clothing advice! I am a mama of soon to be 8 sweet blessings (due with baby #8 in 10 weeks =). My 4th baby and second daughter, Anna Claire was born with 7 congenital heart defects and had heart surgery when she was a baby at 6 months old. She is a delayed but such a blessing! I homeschool all of my kids and I am currently teaching 6 grades. Needless to say, I don’t get to get out and shop much, so this would be super fun! My name is Kristen Hay and I thank you for the opportunity to enter your contest! If you’d like to see a picture of my sweet family you can do so on my blog here

Have a blessed day! =)

I want to nominate my mom, Jo Beth Grubbs. My sister is special needs and is about to have her 40th birthday (sisters birthday). My mom is about to have her 65th birthday. My sister was her first child and honestly, she has always been amazing with her. But it’s exhausting. My sister has the mental capacity of a 3 year old, and now that I’m a parent of 3, I just can’t imagine the struggle of a child with her needs. And she is still fulfilling them now and is still patient with her and like any other parent, she just wants to see her be happy.
She would love this. I wish she could get a pat on the back for the life of work she has put in with her.

I would love to nominate my friend and coworker Shannon Turano! She’s a phenomenal single momma to a 12 year old girl with autism. I strive to be like her not only as an RN but as a mother. We work nights and I can attest, there isn’t much time for yourself when that’s the case. She loves her job and she loves her daughter and there is absolutely nothing she wouldn’t do for her. I know being a single mom isn’t always the easiest and she makes it look so effortless. She always goes above and beyond to help others and put others before herself, no matter the situation. She finally bought herself a dresser recently after almost a decade of using plastic drawers. I think there is no one more perfect for this extraordinary gift than her!

We see, firsthand, how wonderful Jennifer is at raising him. He is tall and strong, yet Jennifer is wonderful in every way from discipline to just loving him! It’s beautiful to see a mom so dedicated, so loving, and although she is tired–able to keep going with an amazing Christ like attitude even in the most difficult of times! After several years of reading this blog and missing out because I live in an area with no Nordstrom stores , I decided to bite the bullet and apply for a Nordstrom card to be able to early access the anniversary sale. I applied for the card well in advance and was ready to go last week for the opening of the promotion. I was able to shop online, place my order and was happy with the selections and prices I was able to take advantage of. This was the consumer experience I was accustomed to in the past. Friday, however I received and email stating that my order could not be processed and I contacted the suggested customer service number. After about a 20 minute process, I spoke with a credit specialist who informed me that because I was a new account holder there would be a limit on the dollar amount of purchases I could order for the first “couple” of orders. I had no knowledge of this policy (it could have been in the small print that no one reads). The “solution” was to cancel a couple of items off of my order to get it under the allowed amount (which was not disclosed to me). Then try back in “a day or two” and see if I could order the items I had to delete off. I did this and expressed my concern that a couple of items were popular and would this affect my ability to still get those. The rep said it would be no problem. This morning I received another notice that the items I was most concerned about had been cancelled off my order, I again contact customer service and these items were cancelled because of…being unavailable due to demand. This has been a very disappointing consumer experience to say the least. I’m not sure if the intention is to reward long term customers by making those with new accounts wait, or if Nordstrom was unsure of my funding situation. The later would make no sense, because that information has to be disclosed before an account is even opened. None the less, I wanted to share my experience in hopes that the policy wouldn’t affect other Nordstrom shoppers.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Jennifer! I’m so sorry you’ve had trouble! I’ve always had super positive customer experiences. I hope you are able to get your items you were hoping for the most! Xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

I also nominate Jennifer Harrison Erp. She’s an amazing role model and inspiration to so many people, especially other moms raising children with autism, and Jennifer handles single motherhood with both grace and humor. She gives her son and her students her all, and for once, it is she who deserves to be pampered.

Hey Sheaffer! Love your sale posts, but came to you originally for your amazing bachelor recaps (????????????????????????). I had a question about the military jacket…it is clearly out of stock online, but I was wondering if you are aware of them possibly restocking with additional sizes once the sale goes public? I just am wondering if I should keep checking back.
Thanks for all you do! ❤️????
Sheaffer says
Hi, Alicia! Since it wasn’t restocked overnight, the only thing you can hope for I’m afraid is just a return in store. Dangit! I was really hoping the jacket would be available again! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
