WHAT WE ARE EATING
I got to eat one of my very favorite things last week. Shrimp cocktail from Big Shucks! Baby shrimp, tomatoes, purple onions, avocado, cilantro, and lime all come together for an amazing bite. I actually like to spread a bit of their delicious tartar sauce on a cracker and then put a big spoonful of the cocktail on top. Truly one of my favorite things to eat.
I also had Mississippi Pot Roast this week, another one of my Top 5 favorite meals.
Now listen, I don’t dredge the roast in flour before I sear it (like the linked recipe calls for). I think a lot of people skip the searing step completely, but I always sear (just not with flour). I actually coat it in a seasoning that my husband puts together that contains kosher salt, lemon pepper, and garlic powder before searing it… and then I plop it in the slow cooker and cook it according to the recipe. I also add baby carrots about 1/2 way thru the cooking process. And fyi, to make things super easy, I often times serve it with Bob Evans potatoes. YUM.
ANOTHER TIP: When we have leftover roast, we always use the leftovers to make Birria tacos. All I do is add a little Birria seasoning to the meat! I take corn tortillas and layer them with pepperjack cheese and the birria mixture. I fold them up and “fry” them in just a tiny bit of olive oil to get them crispy. I then open them up and sprinkle in some finely chopped onion and sliced avocado. These little tacos are in both mine and Carter’s top 5 favorite meals as well.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON
I’m in the middle of putting together a Game Day Inspiration collage where I highlight pieces I’ve found that will be good for football season. Think OU crimson, A&M maroon, Baylor Green, Longhorn orange, Louisiana purple, Ole Miss red… all the game day colors, y’all!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
Stop it RIGHT NOW. Carter was almost 2 here and loving all of our visits to the ranch. He would talk about being a “towboy” (he said “t” for “k” sounds for a bit), so we got him all dressed up as a “towboy” to get his picture taken. SO CUTE!!! #giddyup

WHAT WE’VE BEEN WATCHING
Well WE haven’t been watching this (I think Chris would sooner die), but just yesterday I sat down to do a ton of computer work…
I was switching channels when I landed on The Hills. And when I say I watched it all day long, I WATCHED IT ALL DAY LONG.
This wasn’t a show I watched religiously when it was originally on, but I definitely watched here and there and was familiar with the people. It was super fun to have it on in the background, and I’m hoping I can find it again the next time I have a full day of computer work.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
SOCIAL THREADS SALE…
Social Threads hit 100k on Instagram, and they’re celebrating with a site-wide sale! We’re talking 20% OFF of everything, with the discount automatically applied at checkout. Sale ends Thursday at midnight, so if you want something, go ahead and grab it now!
Click HERE for the entire sale.
Right here you can see some of their recent sell-outs that were just restocked. And now you can get them for 20% OFF! I can’t believe the sweatshirt jacket is right under $60 right now! CRAZY!
sweatshirt jacket / sweatshirt and joggers / short sleeve cardi

Here are some other favorites, ALL 20% OFF…
layered sweatshirt / slouchy neck sweater / floral dress / bag / sneakers / flare jeans / brown sweater / puff sleeve print top / striped cardigan

This layered crew pullover is one of my favorite basics, and now it’s 20% OFF! It’s incredibly comfy and soft. I’m wearing the “light moss” here, but it comes in several colors (although they all seem to be flying off the shelf). The sweatshirt is super soft and the little crewneck that is peeking out from the neck and the hem really elevate this sweatshirt and will instantly help you look pulled together. I’m in a medium, and it’s a perfectly relaxed fit and roomy fit. A small would definitely fit, but I like the oversized look of the medium. If you don’t want it quite so oversized, size down. It has 65 reviews, and almost every single one of them is 5 STARS.

The bubble sleeve top is now 20% OFF! It’s a medium-weight sweater material that is super soft, and the voluminous sleeves give it something extra. And y’all know I love the longer length of the sleeve and the banded hem. It’s very flattering. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
I love how these beaded necklaces really pop against the navy top and add just the right amount of personality and spunk.
And can we please talk about these jeans, also 20% OFF! The high waist, the wide leg, the cropped length, AND THAT CUFF. They are so dang cute. I love how they give the whole outfit a little something extra instead of just being another pair of jeans.

This sweater is speaking my language and is NOW 20% OFF. First of all, THE RED. It’s bright and happy and such a gorgeous color. The open stitching around the neck and on the drop shoulder gives a little bit of interest and make it feel a little elevated. I also love the relaxed feel paired with the fitted ribbed cuffs. It gives an easy, slouchy look without feeling oversized or sloppy.
I kept the jewelry simple because of the detail at the neckline and grabbed my new favorite set. Remember you can use the code TAKE20 for 20% OFF.
contrast stitch sweater / Harlow set / Noonday bracelets / jeans / neutral suede bootie option

I’VE GOT A CODE…
I first talked about this bag last month, and NOW I’VE GOT A CODE FOR THIS BRAND! The code SHEAFFERS will get you 10% OFF.
I’ve been using this bag for a couple of months now, and I love it even more now than I did when I first started using it.

It holds everything I use to get ready in the morning (+ extras)!
I know it’s a travel bag, but I have actually started just leaving it packed and sitting out on my bathroom counter at home.
I love how all of the compartments keep everything super organized, but still visible. I have a system for where I put everything, so I know exactly where to reach when I need something. There’s so much room in the middle, and I think it’s great how the products stand up on their own and are all super easy to access.

SERIOUSLY. Look how much it holds. And there’s actually room for quite a bit more.

This is apparently a limited-edition collaboration, and once it’s gone it’s gone.

WHAT I’M WEARING / SHOPPING FOR
I quickly popped into the mall after a doctor’s appointment earlier this week. I was short on time, but after making a couple of returns at Nordstrom and Anthro, I took a spin around a couple of stores.
No surprise here, but I found quite a few things that I liked. 🙂 There are tons of great pieces out right now – cute tops, great jackets, fun dresses, and lots of things that are making me very ready for fall (even though the over 100 degree weather where I live is not cooperating).
I snapped pics of everything I saw that caught my eye, and I’m going to share those items today. I didn’t have time to try anything on, but I did come home and order several items.
BUT FIRST. Last night Anthro rolled out a designer denim sale!!! We’re talking 25% off denim! WooHoo! Click HERE to see what all is included.

Oh my word, THIS DRESS. The plaid is giving me all the fall feelings, and I love the unexpected mix of burgundy, black, cream, and that pretty turquoise blue. And then there are the DETAILS—the puff sleeves, the ruffles, the tiered skirt. It’s feminine and fun without being too precious. It will be so dang cute with boots.

This sweatshirt is just FUN. I love the oversized, relaxed fit, the stripes, and the varsity-style lettering. It has that perfectly casual, slightly preppy vibe that looks like you just effortlessly threw it on and somehow look adorable. Jeans + sneakers = DONE. And I’m really loving this blue!

Now THIS is a fall jacket. I love the rich chocolate brown, but that plaid lining peeking out at the collar and cuffs is what totally sold me. It feels a little preppy, a little outdoorsy, and very Anthro. Throw it over a cream sweater with jeans and boots and you’ve got yourself an outfit. SO GOOD. I did throw this on very quickly because it looked oversized and I wanted to know what size I should order. They didn’t have a small in store, but I felt like the medium was too slouchy and too much fabric, so I’m ordering the small and think it will be perfect (and still a bit slouchy).
Other brown jacket options HERE (that are all reallllllllly good).
bubble utility jacket with plaid lining

This top is so pretty. I love the warm olive color for fall, but it’s all of the little details that make it special—the puff sleeves, ruffles, tiny embroidered flowers, and pretty texture throughout. There’s a lot going on, but somehow it all works. Just add jeans and let the top do all the talking.

This blouse is GORGEOUS. The periwinkle blue is so pretty, and I love it mixed with the chocolate brown embroidery. The smocking, florals, and slightly flowy shape give it that special Anthro look, but it would still be so easy with jeans and a great pair of brown shoes. I’m afraid it will be too low for me without a cami, but those of you that have more than an inch between your boobs and neck might be okay. 😉

I immediately stopped for these chunky beaded necklaces. The colors are so good —pinks, burgundies, creams, and browns—and they feel like such an easy way to make a simple outfit more interesting. I especially love the darker one for fall. White tee + jeans + one of these = YES.

I’m apparently having a plaid moment, and I’m not mad about it. This top is such a cute way to wear plaid without going full-on Brawney paper towel guy. I love the navy base, the pops of rust and yellow, the slightly puffed sleeves, and those sweet ruffled cuffs. This is the perfect fall shirt especially if you live somewhere that it might still be 80 degrees in October. I mean, I could wear this to a pumpkin patch or a fall party without dying of a heat stroke. I consider that a win.
Two things: 1) The colors were more vibrant in stores than they appear online (and I like the true colors, so yay!). 2) It appeared to maybe run a bit small. I’m holding up the medium here, but if between sizes, you might consider sizing up.

Halloween is 30% OFF for a limited time!

Anthro also has the BEST candle selection. I cannot walk through the store without stopping to smell at least 14 of them. They always have the prettiest vessels, the best scents, and so many that double as décor.

Just last week I showed you these two tops from Anthro that I’m in love with…
First of all, the color of this top. The warm rust is absolutely gorgeous and is going to be so good heading into fall. I love the soft floral print, but it’s all of the little details that really make this one special. The pintucking, the eyelet detailing around the neckline and sleeves, the slightly frayed edges…there is just so much going on, and somehow it all works together beautifully. The neckline is especially pretty and gives it that relaxed, boho vibe that Anthro does so well. The swingy fit through the body makes this one look so easy and effortless.
And these jeans, y’all. I’m loving this light medium wash (officially called “mid shaded classic blue) paired with the rust top. They have that perfectly casual, lived-in look, and the kick-flare leg is SO CUTE. I especially love the raw hem—it gives them a little something extra without trying too hard. And the length is fantastic with a pointed-toe shoe because you actually get to SEE the shoe. The fit is really flattering too. They’re fitted through the hips and thighs and then give you that subtle flare at the bottom. They feel current and fresh, but they’re still totally wearable. You can get these a 30″ or 32″ length, and I’m wearing the 30″ here. I’m 5’4” with long legs and no torso, and I can wear these with both flats and with small-heeled booties.
floral swing top / Harlow earrings (use code TAKE20) / turquoise heart necklace / bracelet stack / medium wash bootcut jeans / neutral suede bootie option

This is the sweatshirt I fell in love with last year and ended up getting in both orange and a neutral, and I wore the heck out of both of them. I was thrilled when I saw that new colors launched this year, and I went for the powder blue (although it appears to be sold out now). It also comes in a dark brown, which is the total it color this season. The top has all the comfort and coziness of a sweatshirt, but the short sleeves make it so much more versatile. And obviously, the puff sleeves and the banded cuffs and hem are the star of the show. They give a basic sweatshirt shape a feminine little twist.
This is exactly the kind of top I reach for over and over again because there’s basically ZERO styling required. Throw it on with jeans, add some cute sneakers or sandals, and you’re out the door. I’ve dressed it up here with some fun jewelry and booties.
puff sleeve sweatshirt tee / mini jane beaded necklaces (multicolor and olive) / bracelet stack / medium wash bootcut jeans / neutral suede bootie option

Also at Anthro, for a limited time check out their END OF SUMMER SALE! We’re talking an EXTRA 50% OFF items that are already on sale!

And now over at Evereve…this jacket immediately caught my eye. I love the olive color and the simple, sporty shape. It’s one of those great lightweight jackets it looks like you can throw on over everything, and I especially love it layered over the black and cream stripes here. It just looks COOL, and y’all know I love the stand-up collar.

Evereve’s jewelry selection is SO GOOD right now. There were statement necklaces, chunky bracelets and rings, great earrings, and lots of interesting textures and rich colors. I especially love all the tortoise, chocolate brown, burgundy, and green happening for fall. These are the kinds of pieces that can take a super simple jeans-and-tee outfit and make it feel totally pulled together. I could have done some serious damage at this table.

After the jewelry I took pics of several pairs of shoes, but they are all sold out online, so I don’t want to tease you with items that are no longer available.
