WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
Avara launched a Game Day Edit yesterday! With football season just around the corner, I know lots of y’all will be happy to see this adorable game day attire.
Click HERE to shop the entire collection that includes dresses, tops, sneakers, clear bags that are stadium approved, and accessories.

When I grabbed this smocked top, I thought it was crimson, but it’s actually rust. I’m happy for you Longhorns to have such a cute top for game day, but I was really bummed it wasn’t crimson. It’s got the pretty smocking across the neck, shoulders, and back as well as on the banded cuffs. You won’t find it anywhere but Avara because they designed it and are selling it exclusively. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
These crop straight leg jeans are in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so you need to get them before prices go up!

It’s cute with shorts too.

With a banded collar, flutter sleeves, and eyelet details throughout… you’re going to love this shift dress. I also love the split neckline, the pockets, and the length. I’ll be wearing this with sandals and sneakers now, but it will actually be super cute styled with boots too! And for you Baylor fans, it’s the perfect Baylor green. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

How cute are these sneakers. They come in this burnt orange and red. They look like a Golden Goose, but without the high price tag!

WHAT WE ARE EATING
Instead of telling y’all what we are eating this week, I’m just going to share some random favorites I’ve eaten recently.
If you haven’t eaten at a Nordstrom restaurant, you are missing out.
One of my absolute favorite dishes to order are these mini cilantro lime chicken tacos. The shells are ultra crispy, the ground chicken is so flavorful, and the dressing and toppings are chef’s kiss.

Here’s one of my go-to fast and easy meals at home.
You’re looking at Trader Joe’s jasmine rice, a serving of sugar snap peas that I’ve sauteed, and air fryer salmon.
All I do to the salmon is generously sprinkle the Magic Salmon Seasoning on top before popping it into the air fryer. It depends on the size and thickness of my salmon, but I usually do 400 degrees for 7-10 minutes. THAT’S IT.
I then put everything in a bowl and use the Japanese Barbecue Sauce for extra flavor as needed. YUM.

Here’s a better look at the seasoning and the sauce. I highly recommend both.

So I’m thinking I’ve shared this dessert before, but I made it again over the 4th, so it deserves another share.
Make a box of your favorite brownies (I use Duncan Hines Supreme Triple Chunk). I usually undercook them a bit because I prefer a soft, chewy, and fudgy brownie).
Make a family size box of Instant Chocolate Pudding mix and throw it in the fridge for like 10 minutes for it to set up.
Mix 1/2 a container of Cool Whip with the Chocolate pudding and then start layering.
Layer 1: 1/2 of brownies, crumbled up
Layer 2: layer of pudding and cool whip mixture
Layer 3: Cool Whip
Layer 4: chocolate covered heath pieces
Repeat all 4 layers and pop in fridge. ENJOY!

And some other items I recommend from Trader Joe’s…
The white queso is absolutely delicious and the chunky guacamole (made with Greek yogurt) is a great lower calorie and lower fat alternative to regular guac.

I’m picky about my ranch dressings and this option from Trader Joe’s is great (70 calories and 7 grams of fat in 2 Tbsp).

WHAT I’M WEARING
Do you remember this dress I showed in a collage last week?
dress / green raffia earrings / heart charm bracelet / lip gloss / small straw hobo bag / slide sandals

Well, it arrived! And look how DARLING it is on! It’s become a fast favorite.
This dress is 100% cotton, fully lined, and it’s very lightweight with some beautiful lace detailing. The lace detailing is difficult to see in pictures, but it’s very pretty in real life. It’s a roomy and relaxed fit with a loose sleeve and a tiered skirt (which adds some interest and volume). And it has pockets. Yay!
I would say this runs a bit big, so most will probably want to size down. I’m wearing a small.

Maybe you remember that I showed it in ivory too.
dress / green raffia earrings / heart charm bracelet / lip gloss / small straw hobo bag / slide sandals

You can see the lace detailing much better on the ivory dress. It really is lovely. Again, I’m wearing a small.
This is a dress that I’m for sure wearing right now, but I will also be wearing it early fall styled with a denim jacket and booties!
And yes, I kept it in both colors. I don’t do that very often, but I know I will wear the heck out of this dress in both colors.

OTHER DRESSES THAT HAVE BEEN POPULAR WITH Y’ALL…
Okay, ladies. HOW CUTE IS THIS DRESS.
Y’all know I live for a smocked waist, and the high ruffle collar makes this dress extra special. And the skirt length and ruffle make it a little bit flirty. I was drawn to this green floral, but it also comes in a classic black that could easily be dressed up and a dark navy floral that is very pretty. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
ruffle dress / pearl drop earrings / heart toggle necklace / bangle bracelet / clear wedges

This adorable shirt dress is a cotton linen blend and has a teeny tiny striped pattern that is super cute. I’m loving the drop waist and tiny pleats on the skirt, and I think the overall style is just darling. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

You are probably going to find this hard to believe, but I think this is the first Lily Pulitzer dress I’ve ever tried. And the verdict is in: I LOVE IT. I’m not typically drawn to the Lily Pulitzer patterns, but I really like this solid option a lot.
It’s a puff sleeve linen dress and the color is GORGEOUS. It’s coral, but a deep and vibrant coral that is seriously stunning. You slip the dress over your head, and it has a great split neck and elbow length sleeves with a subtle puff. It’s a classy dress that I think will look great on lots of different body types. I’m wearing it with wedges here, but you could easily dress it up for a wedding with a nice pair of heels. For size reference, I’m wearing a 6.

Here’s another linen dress, but I would say that this one is more “orange sherbert” than coral. It’s got a more relaxed fit than the dress above, and I would say that it’s got more of a casual feel. The double flutter sleeves are adorable, it’s got pockets, and it has more of a relaxed and swingy fit than the dress above. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

WHAT I’M LOVING
This is the 3rd summer now that Carter has played rec basketball during the summer with his buddies, and I love it. The boys have so much fun, and so do the parents. The games don’t usually even start until 9:00 (which is so late for us!), but gosh it’s worth it to see them having such a blast.

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
This little blonde haired baby boy popped up on my Facebook Timehop, and I can’t stop staring at his sweet little face.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
I can’t believe I’m just getting around to posting these pictures, but at the end of June we were able to get a handful of Carter’s good friends down to the ranch for the weekend. It was a great time!
Take a peek at Charlie, y’all. 🙂

We all had so much fun, and I’m hoping we can do it again soon!

WHAT I’M WATCHING
We just binged Season 1 of Landman the past couple of weeks.
We LOVED the main story line, but we thought some of the side story lines were absolutely ridiculous. I mean, taking the nursing home residents to the strip club? I’M SO SURE.

***********************
WHAT ARE MY RECENT AMAZON PURCHASES
On a recommendation from Andrea’s boys, Carter tried the below shorts and loves them! We now have them in 4 colors to start school.
I grabbed the tarte lip gloss in berry shimmer and the elf lip gloss in rose envy. And the coffee pods are what I get for the ranch. I’m not a coffee girl, but I sure can polish off a sweet and salty caramel cappuccino.

Katie Compton says
I love salmon but I never know how to cook it. You’ve inspired me to try my air fryer! Two questions… does it make the house super fishy smelling and do you use the frozen salmon filets?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Katie! I always use fresh filets. It doesn’t smell up the house nearly as much as cooking broccoli or brussel sprouts does, but it will smell a little fishy (but usually just in the kitchen – not the entire house). xoxo
Sarah DeWald says
We LOVED Landman! I visited Texas for a work conference a few months ago and I called my husband laughing after we passed an adult club. I asked if he thought there were some nursing home residents in there. Oh my gosh – that was the craziest part of the show! And I want to try out that lip gloss!
Erika Slaughter says
Looks like I need to get to Trader Joe’s ASAP!
Shay Shull says
I clearly must have been too busy shoving the delicious tacos into my mouth to see you take that photo. I have thought about them MANY times since that day. Absolutely delicious!
Jessica says
LOVE Landman! Yes, the strip club story line was ridiculous but that just adds to Angela’s charm. Plus, we need some funny crazy to break up the heaviness of the main story line.
Shellie Boss says
Can you share about your outdoor deep fryer???? Thanks
Sheaffer says
Hi, Shellie! Yes, we love it!!!! It’s heavy duty and not flimsy at all like some other units. We have zero complaints. I’m going to link the exact model and size on Amazon, but we got ours at Bucee’s, and it was at least $100 less expensive (maybe more). But here’s the link so you can see what we have: https://shopstyle.it/l/cs6bL
