Embroidery Love

So the fam and I ran to the square to have lunch last week, and it was approximately 113 degrees outside. Maybe I’m exaggerating a tiny bit, but it was DANG HOT.  I had Chris snap some pics, but this is the only one that even kind of came out.  What can I say, keeping the skin from melting off my body was more important than getting a good pic.  #priorities  🙂

Embroidery is all the rage this spring, and THIS top is awesome. I love the longer length, and the tiny pleats in the front are such a nice touch!

For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the top, so I think it’s true to size.  The fit is generous, but that’s how I wanted it to be (and how it should be) for a top like this.  I’m afraid if you sized down for a closer fit, the proportions might be off.  At the end of this post, you’ll see pics of me in the outfit inside, and you can really see the pleat detailing!

And let’s talk for a minute about THE WEDGES.  Here’s what the site has to say about them:    A vintage-inspired wooden wedge sandal with antique brass studs. Designed with extra padding and a comfortable halo strap, you can wear the Sahara all day long.  I have to agree with everything they said.  And let me go ahead and add that they are JUST PLAIN DARLING.  They really do have a vintagey (act like it’s a word) look to them, I LOVE the “wood grain” on the wedge itself, and the brass studs are such a nice touch.  They only come in whole sizes, so if you are a solid 1/2 size, I suggest ordering down. These wedges also come in a neutral and a cognac, but I really liked the contrast of the black against the wood tones and the brass.

And for those of you that prefer the inside shots, y’all are in luck!  Since it wasn’t 113 degrees inside of my house, there are quite a few of these inside pics!  Plus, I think you really can see the detail of the top (especially the pleating) much better with these pictures.

I pulled the bag in front for this picture so you could get a better idea for the size of it!

First of all, I LOVE IT when a bag is lined with a cute fabric.  It just makes me happy to open a bag and be surprised!  #itsthelittlethings  Secondly, when the bag arrived, I was thinking it might be too big and/or too structured for a cross body, but I was wrong.  It’s a great size and fits my wallet, my make-up bag, keys, and cell phone.  So, it’s the perfect cross body for when you want to be hands free, but you also need a place to put a good amount of stuff (not just lip gloss….I’m looking at you Erika.)  😉

And just for fun, I thought I would show you how I switched it up that night when we went out!  I wanted to carry my must have denim jacket with me (I often put it on in movies or a restaurant if I’m cold), so I switched out the cross body to MY  LEATHER TOTE c/o Live FashionABLE and headed out!  I also wanted to show you again how  how I don’t mind mixing black and brown.   In fact, I often times prefer it because think it makes things more interesting!

Here I am wearing it later in the week with some cut-offs (sorry they are sold out, they are like 5 years old!) and cork glitz flip flops.  Yep, I was getting at least one more wear out if it before washing it.  Please tell me you do this too.  You don’t?  Neither do I.  😉

This next outfit is certainly cute enough for running around town, but it’s also comfy enough for just lounging around the house!  For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the top and a small in the shorts.  These shorts have a drawstring waist and are FABULOUS.  Comfy and cute to boot!

This square neck embroidered top came home with me and I love it!  Throw it on with a pair of jeans or shorts and you’ve got a precious outfit with no work!  For size reference, I would suggest sizing down in this particular top, I’m wearing an x-small.  I’m wearing a 27 in the shorts, so they are true to size.

If you want a little white tee with some extra somethin’ somethin’, well then THIS top from LOFT is for you!   I’m wearing a small, so it’s true to size. It also comes in navy (which would look awesome with white jeans!) and crimson.  The white is a bit see through, and you could probably get away without wearing a cami under it, but I personally love the look of the cami under it.  And what better way to accessorize this simple outfit than with my favorite tassel necklace.

Before you go today, I would like to ask all of you prayer warriors out there to PRAY FOR DREW today!!!!  His surgery is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m., and it’s supposed to last 6 hours.   We are so thankful that his team of doctors has had the gift of time to study his scans and plan the best course of treatment, but there are still prayer requests:  There are a lot of very important nerves near Drew’s AVM, so please pray there is a way to work around each nerve to cause minimal damage.  If that is not an option, pray for the team’s discernment in choosing which course of action will cause the least amount of lasting effects.  Please pray for complete clarity and wisdom in determining the best path for Drew’s complete healing.  

Finally, please pray for the family’s peace.  I talked to Jill on Friday, and at that time she was definitely feeling God’s peace.  However, she was a bit concerned that God might have been a little “trigger happy” and given it to her too early!  🙂   Let’s all pray for a PEACE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING for Drew and the entire family.   The family has been waiting for this day for a long time now.  Pray that they are able to take this head on and step out in courageous faith as the doctors work their magic and God heals their son.
