Okay, so today I am merging two of my regular segments:
What I’m Obsessed With Now with Dear Sheaffer
I’ve had several “Dear Sheaffer” e-mails and blog comments lately that happen to revolve around some of my obsessions!
And it’s funny, most questions I receive are basically duplicates of questions from a different reader. Most of the time people want to know the same things.
So, I figure if one person takes the time to write a question, there are probably at least another 5 people that have the exact same question.
So anyway, we’re merging….just go with it. 🙂
Before we get to the e-mails, I feel like it is my duty to IMMEDIATELY inform you of some very important developments over here at Pinterest Told Me To.
I put it on facebook yesterday within 1.4 seconds of seeing it, but in case you didn’t see it yesterday…
THE MUST HAVE DENIM JACKET SHOWED UP ONLINE YESTERDAY FOR ONLY $46.56!!!!!
Part of me thinks it’s a mistake since it’s not showing as a sale price, it’s just showing up at this new price (and it is a TOTALLY random price).
Still, even if it is a mistake, GET WHILE THE GETTIN IS GOOD PEOPLE!
All right, I feel like I can breathe now that I’ve done my due diligence and informed all of you about the reduced price. That’s a load off.
Okay, on to the e-mails….
AND BY THE WAY, this post today was already written before I saw the new price on the jacket yesterday. If you don’t have the jacket yet, and you still don’t plan on getting it after reading today’s post and seeing the new price, then I’m afraid we can’t be friends anymore.
It’s just the way it is.
I have to draw the line somewhere.
It’s for your own good.
😉
Here’s the first e-mail…..
Dear Sheaffer,
So, I bought the MUST HAVE denim jacket the first day you put it on the blog! And you were right, I LOVE it! I was surprised at how light weight it was, and it really goes with so much that was already in my closet. I know you did a post before where you mentioned wearing it with maxi dresses. I know this is crazy, but I have never owned a maxi dress. Can you help me find a good one?
Thanks!
Lindsay
Hi Lindsay!
Okay.
It’s confession time.
I’ve never owned a maxi dress either!
I’m only 5’4″ (okay….5’3″ and 3/4), so I just kind of thought I was too short to pull one off. I’ve tried several on over the years, but I never really liked them on me. However, after receiving your e-mail, I decided I would try to find one that worked for me!
I headed to Nordstrom to specifically try on THIS one and I took my jacket with me!
It is striped (which I love), I really liked the muted palette, and it is Petite, which I thought could be a good thing for me. Sadly, it is only found online.
(Sidenote, if anybody has this exact dress please leave a comment telling me what
you think about it!)
Although the one I was looking for wasn’t in store, I did try on several others….
and I have to say…
I really REALLY liked them!
(full disclosure – I tried on 10 dresses, and I hated like really hated 6 of them.)
These are the 4 that I liked (ranging in price from $48 – $88)!:
THIS one here from Lush.
This dress made me feel tall and skinny (um, yes please!) and it is very well priced!
Necklace HERE.
I love a good pendent necklace.
Okay…..if you’re not super super skinny, this next dress isn’t for you.
Jeni, you could and should order this dress.
Conner, you would look great in it too!
Shay, you could totally pull this dress off.
However, MOST people cannot wear this dress. I really loved the idea of it, but it showed every little bump and blip and was not flattering on me.
Still, if you have a rockin’ bod, OWN IT and order this dress!
Dress HERE.
The straps are “rope” also. Love it!
I also felt like this dress was very flattering! Again, I felt tall and skinny. SIGN. ME. UP.
In fact, I’m thinking of buying this dress and wearing it 5 days per week for the
rest of my natural life.
Dress HERE.
Necklace HERE.
So this next one isn’t really a maxi dress, but I’m going to throw it in here anyway.
I’ve never tried the high-low trend (never wanted to), but I actually like this dress a lot!
Dress HERE.
Necklace HERE.
I was surprised that I was finding so many maxis that I liked (considering I’ve never really liked them before), but then I realized why!
My wedges (HERE) seen in each of the above pictures were giving me enough extra height that the dresses looked good on me!
I didn’t look like I was being swallowed up by the dress.
If you already have the jacket and the wedges, one of these dresses seems like a no brainer to me!
Oh,
and I didn’t find THIS one in store,
but it has lots of great reviews and looks like it good be a good one!
Or, just click HERE for a ton of choices all under $100!

Dear Sheaffer,
I love your hair. It always looks bouncy and fun. I live in Plano (and I know you live in McKinney) so I was wondering who does your hair! I might like to pay her a visit myself!
Stephanie
Hi Stephanie!
Thanks so much for your question! I’ve actually received several hair questions over the last couple of months, so I thought I would put it here on the blog!
My hair stylist’s name is Amanda and she is FAB!
She works at Ericka’s Hair On The Square and it is right off of the square in downtown McKinney.
She’s pretty busy as it is (probably won’t be able to get you in on nights or weekends), but she can take new clients during the day!
Ericka and Jessica are great too, so surely you can find somebody to fit you in!

Dear Sheaffer,
I (like you) share a love for my denim jacket. However, even though I already have one that I wear every once in awhile, I find myself wanting the one that you keep talking about. Mine is from GAP several years ago, and I feel like it is still current, but maybe it isn’t?
Is your denim jacket really THAT much better?
Maybe it’s okay for me to have 2?
Help!
Caroline
Hello Caroline!
Thanks for the question.
I think the thing that makes a jacket looks the most dated is it’s shape.
Is it boxy? Is it baggy? Does it look over-sized?
My LOFT jacket that I had purchased many years ago still fits me, but each and every time I put it on, I ended up taking it off. It came down to the fact that the fit wasn’t good.
The picture below is the day that I bought the jacket.
The top 3 things I love about this particular jacket follow:
1) The fit.
It isn’t boxy AT ALL, and I feel like it is super flattering.
2) This jacket is surprisingly light weight.
3) The jacket has some stretch in it.
and I’m going to add a 4th reason just because…..
1) I know it sounds crazy. But I love the stonewashed look.
HUGE DISCLAIMER HERE:
I wrote this before I saw yesterday that the jacket is now being featured at a reduced price!
So Caroline, LISTEN TO ME,
I feel like you are now TOTALLY justified buying a 2nd denim jacket!
You will be so glad you did!
Click HERE for the jacket at the sale price!!!

Okay, that’s all of the questions for this week….now I just want to share some finds with you!
Some are on sale, some are not.
I found THIS necklace while browsing online earlier this week and I put it in my cart with my Vigoss jeans. I figured since I was getting awesome jeans for under $40 that I
could throw a necklace in my cart too.
That’s girl math, plain and simple.
*I got it in the Friday afternoon and I love it!
It reminds me of the new J Crew fan necklaces that are way more expensive!
I am so excited to start styling it in outfits!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I bought this scarf while doing Shopping with Sheaffer and Shay, but it somehow didn’t make it to the post! And now it’s on sale for $8.98!
Click HERE for the scarf, 2 colors remain!
It’s the perfect summer scarf.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
THIS new product from Neutrogena.
Thank you Nikki for introducing me to it!
YOU GUYS!
It is AWESOME.
It smells great (and I am weird about smells), and it doesn’t taste weird!
It’s hard to explain, but it goes on so smooth, almost like Vaseline would (but with color).
The super surprising thing about it though is that the color stays on!
Lipstick NEVER stays on my lips, and this does! It is AMAZING!
TRULY. TRULY. AMAZING.
I guess I would describe it as a lip stain. I’m going to go get 2 more colors!

3)
Click HERE to see some Smashbox makeup sets for a FANTASTIC deal!
One reviewer said:
I found this set because I was looking for a
pallet of brown shadows, some really light and others really dark. This
set had both! And even better came with a lipstick, bronzer, mascara
and eye liner. I like the bronzer, but it’s a bit too light for my skin
in the summer. However, the shadows were what I was looking for and they
are awesome!!
4)
Lots of Sequin Bracelets are on sale again HERE!
I am still absolutely obsessed with mine, and I know some of you are now too!
Thanks for the heads up Awndrea!
5)
THIS gorgeous Fossil tote is 33% off! Great deal on a great bag.
6)
If you are due to buy new make-up anytime soon, you might want to take advantage of this offer!

p.s. If you haven’t ordered a pair of nude flats yet, click HERE to see what you are missing.

Oh my gosh! If people aren't buying that little denim jacket after today's post, they have lost their minds! You rocked that jacket in every single picture…making all of those clothes look absolutely adorable! And that price now? Fabulous! People should be buying that jacket and then sending you a thank you card.
Kellyann Rohr says
Thanks Sheaffer, I just adore you. It's like you read my mind. I am totally addicted to your blog. Totally. Addicted.
Sheaffer says
Hi Kellyann! You are too sweet! I would have responded directly to you, but your settings are set to "no reply" so I was unable to. SO happy to have you as an addicted reader~!!!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Sabrina says
I am also addicted. I swear I click on every link and I have to force myself not to buy every.single.thing you post about—I could turn in to one of those shopaholics really quick. Love your style!!! 🙂
P.S. We are the same height–I wear maxi dresses–but I ALWAYS wear my denim jacket with them. Something about the denim jacket breaking up the straight dress makes it look more fashionable to me! I'm glad we share a love for a denim jacket 🙂
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
Absolutely nothing better than a good maxi dress! The top complaint that I see on my blog when I feature one is that they don't make them for petites. These are awesome options!
The Bryan Family says
What is the additional 20% off GAP code – I saw it and thought I entered it correctly but was there a time on when that code went away. Just curious thanks!
Sheaffer says
Oh no! You are sooo right! Looks like the code expired. Sorry! 🙁
Anonymous says
Hi, I am contemplating the denim jacket. I love it for summer but what would you wear it with in fall? What color jeans, because I always think of darker colors for fall. Would the jacket go with dark jeans?
Thanks!!!
Sheaffer says
Hi there! I'm not sure if it would go with dark denim or not, I need to try it and see. I will wear it with all of my colored skinny jeans (green, pink, red, mustard) and I will also wear it with grey and my khaki colored cords. Hope this helps!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
Kori says
I think that light denim would totally totally go with dark denim!! So cute…think about how people will wear light chambray with dark wash jeans. It's a cute look!!
Melissa Giangrosso says
How exciting to be reading your fabulous post today on this rainy day (here in Ontario, Canada) and see my very own name as the next winner of the Dizzie Lizzie dress!I've already emailed you.
Thanks so much & have a wonderful weekend!!
Jen {Whimsy at Heart} says
I ordered the Kut denim jacket for Jeni last night, since she has no internet. She will look awesome in it!
I feel the same way about me wearing maxi dresses since I'm 5' 5", but after seeing how great you look in them, maybe I should wear one of mine from last year!? I totally think you rock a maxi dress!!!
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
that maxi looks really good, like really really good on you! i've never tried one on either…always thought I'm too short, and I'd be tripping over all that fabric?! Plus, it's so dang hot here, I need as much air flowing around my body as possible. But that dress would be a great summer nights dress! Oh great, now I'm singing the song from Grease, in my John Travolta voice. 😉
that's enough from me for one day

I really don't see how you do it…the time you take for all of your readers blows my mind…and I am loving that ombre maxi…so fun!!

50% off at J. Crew Factory. But you probably already knew that! Love you blog! Picking out my sequin bracelets as we speak.
aprilparrish says
I've been shopping online at Loft today thanks to you!!! Got the cutest little one piece pants romper!!
The third maxi dress you featured looks amazing on you- you must purchase it!!! My favorite!
Have a great weekend! 🙂
Kori says
OK. I had tried on the linen blazer before I saw your post, and then I ordered it. I got it today and love it, but I have to know…did you remove the shoulder pads?? I'm not particularly busty, but for some reason the jacket makes me look that way (I'll take it, ha!) and I think the shoulder pads somehow emphasize that in maybe a-not-so-good way? I'm not sure. Anyway, I just wondered what you thought about that subject. Thanks!!
~Kori
P.S. I ordered that stinkin' denim jacket, too!! Again, I had tried it on and then saw your post…darn you!! 😉
Sarah Tucker says
Rock that maxi, girl! I love my maxis, and I am short too!
Unknown says
Hi Sheaffer, I love your blog! I have been following you for about 6 months now and am addicted. 🙂 It took me awhile to get used to wearing a maxi dress, but the solution to some issues I had (the sometimes not so flattering areas) was to wear "boy short" underwear. It isn't necessary to go as far as a needing a shape war but something with a little Lycra in it does wonders!
Jenna says
Still loving my denim jacket like crazy. THANKS! But I just looked at their site and it looks like they have the same (or very similar jacket) in different shades. Did you consider the darker at all? Just curious.

Finally got around to shopping at Nordstoms and I purchased both the jean jacket and the jeans! The jacket I got in a Small, my regular size. Can button it, but it would be a bit snug. I recommend going up a size if you have larger arms, otherwise, stick with your regular size it looks cute a bit snug. I Love it!!! I never would have picked the color either, but it is very summery and cute. For Jeans I am a size 4 and I got the 28's (I'm a little wider in the waist after 4 kids). The 27's fit, but I liked the slightly more relaxed feel of the 28's, to give me a slight boyfriend look and less muffin top. In my opinion, If you go with the embroidered one, going up a size does not work, it just makes the butt and waist too big and the calfs are still pretty snug. They are true skinny jeans. Love your blog!!!
Kat says
I am LOVING the Neutrogena lip stain! It smells great and moisturizes while adding color. Thanks so much for the recommendation!
