So…..
I felt it was my civic responsibility to find a “GOOD QUALITY PAIR OF LEGGINGS” to help fulfill the #3 requirement for ladies everywhere. I’m a giver.
Because no matter how good the rest of your outfit is, if the leggings are bad,
then THE WHOLE THING is bad.
I talked about several different pairs of leggings (all with great reviews) on the initial post, but I hadn’t yet decided which pair to get for myself.
If you’re freaking out over the COMPLETE AND TOTAL AWESOMENESS of the look on the right, I totally get it. You should be freaking out. In fact, I would be worried about you if you weren’t freaking out. Stay tuned for details on that outfit.
usually too tight in the leg, too long in the leg and too constricting
in the waist. None of that exists in this Hue ultra wide waistband
legging. I bought four pair, two black, one gray and one navy. Versatile
and warm, excellent with booties and tunic tops.
DID YOU HEAR THAT?
This chick isn’t even normally like leggings, and she bought FOUR pair!
BLOG UPDATE! I got these next three messages from sweet readers after they read this post and I wanted to share them:
been following your blog for a few months now, and I LOVE it! I’ve
bought several of the pieces you’ve recommended and I love everything.
But I wanted to tell you that I really really LOVE the Hue extra wide
waistband leggings. I got mine in the mail on Friday, and I wore them on
Saturday from 4:30am until midnight. It was a long day of traveling,
tailgating…etc. and they held up SO well! No stretching or gaping and
they were super comfy. It sounds like you and I are about the same size
and the small was perfect. A little long, but under boots it’s no big
deal. I’m a stay at home mom of a 4 year old and a 9 month old and I
know I will LIVE in these things all winter. I just ordered the gray
ones this morning since the black ones were so great. Keep up the good
work!!!
Funny thing about the “blardigan”- the people that make it also make baby blankets!
We received the blankets as gifts when both my babies were born and I
tell you what- softest/best blanket, EVER! I’m SO glad that company
finally figured out how to make it into a wearable piece of clothing!
Totally ordering it right now…
Meg A.
Good call on making these leggings a MUST HAVE. I have had a gray pair
and a black pair for about a year and a half and they still look brand
new. This is saying a lot since I wear them at least once a week. Best
$40ish ever spent!
Cori
Believe me.
And if you don’t believe me, BELIEVE Abby and Meg and Cori!
And when you put the leggings in your cart, you HAVE to put either THIS scarf or THIS scarf in the cart too. They are only $20, and they are the perfect layering piece to pile on while wearing the leggings. And since they are both infinity, they are totally no fuss!
And listen, even if you don’t think you are a “leggings person”, I feel strongly that you need to give these a try. They are under $40, and ordering a pair is NO RISK.
With Nordstrom’s FREE SHIPPING and FREE RETURNS, you have nothing to lose! And if you ARE a leggings person, even if you already have a pair you like,
I still think you need to try these babies for yourself.
Your leggings future could be kicked up like 1,000 notches.
Even if you don’t wear them out like I plan to with boots and layers,
you can wear them at home with hooded sweatshirts.
And think about for travel this holiday season!
Car trips, airplane trips, whatever!
AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE it in the grey too!
grey and white striped long tank (very old, think it was from Target)
It would have been TOTALLY boring without the scarf, right? The scarf added just the right amount of interest and color to make the whole outfit work!
(It actually comes from the lingerie department, but don’t let that confuse you. TRUST ME on this when I say you need this for outerwear.)
That’s Shay. Cuddling the cardigan in the middle of the mall food court.
And if you think it looks cozy, YOU SHOULD FEEL IT!
I really can’t do this BLARDIGAN justice by telling you how soft and cuddly it is.
HOWEVER, if you just want it for lounging around the house,
WELL THEN BY ALL MEANS…ORDER THIS BABY IMMEDIATELY!
I was most worried about how this piece would hold up with washing, but one of the reviews totally erased any fear I had!
comfortable garment ever created – next to Ugg slippers! I bought the
amethyst on impulse & have been wearing it daily for months now.
wears well with no pilling & stays exactly as it was when I bought
it.
have received this as a gift and loved it so much that I have given it
several times over! Everyone I have given it to raves about it! It’s a
winner and cannot be copied by any other brand, so it must be BAREFOOT
DREAMS! It is so super soft and cozy, you will want to wear it all the
time! It’s great for every climate and you will want one in every color.
I LOVED how it looked with both my jeans and my leggings.
The oooohs and ahhhhhs would be off the charts!!!!
Several other things that you need to know about the Blardigan:
1)
The arms are fitted and the draping is so SO flattering.
So, even though it’s a roomy piece of clothing, it still shows your shape nicely.
2)
Think about how amazing this would be for your holiday travels. You could wear it on a car or airplane trip, wear it out to dinner, and then lounge around in it at your fam’s house too!
3)
Since there are only two sizes: small/medium and large/x-large….the sizing is very forgiving, which makes it super easy to order it as a gift
4)
My
very pregnant friend Nikki (gonna pop any day now) tried on mine and it
looked GREAT on her too! It kind of just molds to your shape! If you’re pregnant, this could be GREAT for
you both DURING and AFTER your pregnancy!
(Several reviewers even said how they wore it home from the hospital after having their baby.)
5)
Notice how long it is in the back. It hits mid-thigh which means it would totally cover your bootie and would be PERFECT for layering with leggings!

Mix and Match Mama says
I have no shame that I was cuddling the blardigan in the middle of the mall. If Andrew would let me, I would throw away my bedspread and just cuddle with that blardigan at night. Then, I would wake up and wear it all day long (and no one would no I had just slept in it because it doesn't wrinkle!). It is the softest thing I have ever rubbed my body against. Seriously. I'm in love. I might change my name to Mrs. Blardigan in its honor.
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
Ooo, the ombre is SO pretty on the blardigan. It is a pair of leggings perfect mate! I might just have to put that on the list for my Santa. 🙂

I received the Hue leggings and THE scarf in the mail last week and love them!!!!! Great finds! The blardigan looks super cozy and cute! Hmmmm…. Might have to add it to my Santa list too!
Elaine~ Honey Pie Accessories says
The leggings are now on my Christmas list 🙂 Thank you very much!!! And, I love the "Blardigan" OMG you crack me up! Oh, and I saw two people wearing the Toms Booties yesterday and I wondered if they read your blog! But, once I saw them in person, I fell in love! Those are now also on my list.
Kim Kauffman says
Considering my current leggings have a hole in the crotch I think I *might* be in need of a new pair. These look awesome with the wide band. I have a pair from Loft that I love except in the waist because it gives me total muffin top. Not good. And I picked up the white style staple shirt on Saturday (and the fringe scarf!) and I totally tried on outfits that night. I live a wild and crazy life!! By the way, that shirt is awesome with a pencil skirt and the Kimberly necklace. I loved it so much!
You look so cute in all of your looks! Love the blardigan (that name just makes me laugh) on you! Looks SO soft and cozy.
Kim Kauffman says
Also – am dying that you said "legend has it that it was woven by angels". So stinking funny.

I have these exact HUE leggings. I bought them last year and I told everybody I know about them. You are right when you say the wide waistband makes all the difference in the world. And I bought the fringe scarf last week after seeing it on your blog, and you are right about it too. It just makes every outfit look better. And the blardigan? I need it. Like yesterday.

Blardigan. Genius. LOVE it. And I bought some HUE leggings this weekend. I agree with Shay-they feel like butter. Best $40 ever. And everybody said Amen.

I have never in my life laughed at a blog like I laughed at this one. You keep everything hysterical, and thank you for helping me drastically with my wardrobe. You are such a giver! Haha.

I just laughed out loud at the leggings comment. I'm a HUGE fan of leggings as pants but only with a long top! No short shirts or crops tops! I def need the Blardigan! It looks like the comfiest thing ever! Happy Monday! xoxo!

Your post last week inspired me to pull my leggings out, and I'm wearing them today! With, unfortunately, the only tank I have that's long enough to cover crotchal. I need to remedy this.

Sheaffer, You've convinced me to try something other than my beloved zellas. I'll order the leggings! It's like you are twisting my arm. 🙂 Also, I've had that "blardigan" for a couple years now, it's wonderful!! I bought it for myself for Christmas and it's still in great condition and maybe even softer than it was originally.
Tracy Boyle says
Hi Sheaffer! I got my pair of Hue leggings in the mail on Friday and today was the first day that I wore them and it was to work! I even had my crotchal area covered, although, I definitely need to shop for some longer shirts. I wanted to tell your readers that I am a size 16 and the extra large leggings fit really well. I love the wide waist band and it doesn't fold down under my tummy, so it's perfect! I love how soft these are and I'm so glad I ordered them. Keep up the great work. I love your blog and have gotten several people in my "entourage" to read you as well!

Hi Sheaffer! I received my pair of Hue leggings in the mail on Friday and today was the first day that I got to wear them. I wore them to work and even had my crotchal area covered, even though I definitely need to purchase some longer shirts for my closet! I wanted to tell your readers that I'm a size 16 and the XL leggings fit really well. I love the extra wide waist band. It didn't roll underneath my tummy once, so these leggings are PERFECT! (tee hee) They are so soft and I just love them. Thanks for all you do and keep up the terrific work! I'm destined to be stylish and that's because of you and Pinterest!

OK Shaeffer…..I need your honest opinion here. What about a 50++ age woman….should we really be wearing leggings in public?? I did this the first time around…I think it was the 90's….and not sure if we should be wearing them this time around. I know I must not be the only older reader you have following your blog. Love your blog by the way….and I really need to get on it and order that fringe scarf asap.
Sheaffer says
Hi Lori!
Great question! Yes, you can TOTALLY wear leggings, you just need to be extra careful what you pair them with. I would say that the tunic should not only cover the "crotchal area", but it should be a little longer than mid thigh. Don't look for shirts, only look for tunics. Hope this helps!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂
p.s. You need the scarf for sure! Order it immediately! 🙂

I featured this scarf on my "Nordstroms wish list " on my blog today! I thought it looked familiar… now I know where I first saw it!

At what age do you think leggings are not appropriate? I'm not as young as you (not even nearly) but am petite and still want to be stylish. I've gotten some great finds from your blog. It's hard to find style blogs for us more mature ladies! Leggings are so cute and comfortable, but I don't want to look like I'm trying to be too young. Help!
Nadine Skinner says
Timely post! I placed a Nordstrom order last week and it came in the mail yesterday. I ordered the must have leggings and the Penny boots. Both are absolutely perfect! The leggings truly are better than any others I have ever tried, and they look awesome with the cognac boots. I can't wait to wear both today! Your fashion picks rock!
Tiffany {A Touch of Grace} says
Shay's comment makes me laugh 🙂 I can attest to the wonderful Hue leggings and am so glad you named them a must have because really, we all MUST have them. Must. I can already picture it, the long drive across the mountains to the in-laws for Christmas, Hue leggings on, warm and cozy in my blardigan, warming my hands on a egg nog latte in a red cup. Best day ever.

I need a Blardigan in my life. ASAP. I am ALWAYS cold. Ordering 2.
Dying over that pic of Shay. SO awesome.

I love your post about the leggings. I have been shopping for the past couple of weeks trying to put together a couple of legging outfits with all the layers However, I am 5'8 and have a long torso, so I am trying to find shirts that cover my "crotchal". It is proving to be a difficult task. Do you have any suggestions on places to find shirts that are long enough to cover. I have found several that are almost there, but not quite. Definitely feel more comfortable with everything covered, as I am sure the rest of the public would be too. 🙂 Thanks for any advice you can give.
Amy says
I love this post and all the different leggings. I have been trying for the last couple of weeks to put together some legging outfits, but have been struggling to find shirts long enough to cover my "crotchal". I am 5' 7-1/2" and have a long torso, so most of the shirts hit just right about the area. Any suggestions you could give on where to find shirts would be so appreciated.

Hi Scheaffer! I just found yours and Shays blogs through Mel's! I got to meet Mel at Blog Sugar and just loved her. And I'm SO glad I found your blog. Thank you for all your fun cute and stylish tips you share!! I've always love love loved clothes. But as a busy mom if two little girls, you know how it goes. I was stuck in a rut of comfy workout clothes and you girls have gotten me so excited about styling outfits again. Thanks for the inspiration!!! And I am seriously considering buying a blardigan! 😉
Genn says
Oh and PS: I bought the HUE cano leggings recently and fell in love!!! They are SO fun. Now I think I need the grey ones. I just bought the Zella live in legging in black and they are every bit as wonderful as the reviews say they are!!!!!

Hi Sheaffer! I was so glad to see an "over 50" girl ask a question about the leggings… I am no longer pushing 40, I am dragging it, so I often wonder if I can truly pull off the PRECIOUS ensembles you put together! Maybe you could consider having a "guest model" from time to time…like your Mama, Shay's Mama….somebody's Mama! It might help us middle agers! I am so thankful for your helpful posts! I have three girls, 21, 16 and 14 so your ideas are helping me with Christmas this year!!!
Loris Ayoub says
Ok I didn't read the wholeee post…1 because I get a bit jealous that I can't buy your suggestions 😛

I am so far behind on my blog reading, so you might have already written about this…. but did you know these leggings are on sale for only $27 right now? I'm praying that they will still be on sale and in stock when I go shopping on black Friday!
