day to get it done.
In the moment, not so much.
We left the airport and headed straight to our hotel to grab a quick bite. We had early reservations at Sur, so we didn’t want to ruin our appetites, but we were hungry.
We split a grilled cheese and fries. Yum.
We changed (well, I kind of changed…I changed jeans and shoes) and headed out to an early dinner.
This top is already a favorite of mine, and I just got it last week in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
I wore it with my new vigoss jeans on the plane with flat cognac sandals (20% OFF right now!), and for dinner I changed to white jeans and wedges to dress it up a bit!
I’m not sure if you noticed in the above picture or not, but mama has a new crossbody bag!
I have a large one I got a couple of years ago from Rebecca Minkoff that I love (there are several Rebecca Minkoff bags in the sale HERE), but it has lots of hardware on it, and it’s quite heavy before anything is even in it.
I’ve been on the look out for a great neutral crossbody that wasn’t too big or too small.
This Michael Kors one fit the bill perfectly!
It’s a year round bag for sure because of the nice neutral color.
I love that the strap is a partial chain, it’s a great size (I was able to fit my makeup bag, a business card holder with my license and credit cards, my cell phone, and a small brush in it), and it can easily be dressed up or down. It’s a great bag!
And right now it’s $104.90, but will go back up to $158 after the sale is over.
If you want to get the look for yourself, click on the picture you are interested in:
And if you want some other crossbody options, check out these also!

To be honest, we weren’t that impressed with Sur (one of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants).
It was good, we just didn’t think it was amazing.
We did get the goat cheese balls that they talk about on the show, and they were awesome.
But the problem? The plate had 3 balls! THREE!
So, Shay and I each had a ball and a half.
I’m going to let that sink in.
We each ate a ball and a half. Each ball was about the size of a really large marble.
I needed at least at dozen (or 2!) for myself.
After Sur we walked down the street a bit to have a drink at Pump (another Vanderpump restaurant).
Pump was GORGEOUS,
Shay said hers tasted a bit like grass, and I was NOT jealous.
Mine tasted like vodka and fresh strawberries. You want a sip of mine don’t you?
It was great girl time and we had lots of laughs!
When we got back to the hotel, we both threw on our favorite pjs.
Find my camo ones HERE that are part of the anniversary sale (they come in plus sizes also…and solids and a floral as well).
One reader’s daughter paired the camo shorts with the pink sweatshirt top and it was DARLING!
For size reference, I’m wearing smalls in both the top and bottoms.
Saturday morning we got up, headed out to a quick brunch (think a crispy potato cake, eggs over easy, and chorizo!), and then went back to the room to start getting ready to go to the taping.
Let’s talk about our outfits for just a second.
Two days before we left we got an e-mail saying that it was recommended that the audience members not wear black or stripes.
Um.
Shay had planned to wear a black dress and I had planned to wear a striped dress.
Uh-oh.
But listen here, you gotta give a girl more notice if you want her to dress a certain way for t.v.!
So, I wore the dress I had planned on and just crossed my fingers they wouldn’t make me leave!
Because I LOVE the dress.
The colors are gorgeous and bright, I like that it’s short, and it has an orange full slip that you wear under it because the top layer is a bit sheer. I thought it was a really great dress, and I know I’ll wear it again and again.
The dress is fully stocked at Lord and Taylor HERE.
For size reference, I’m wearing a 4.
necklace HERE / similar wedges HERE / earrings HERE
*The earrings are part of the anniversary sale and $20 OFF right now!
If you notice, there is a difference in my dress and the the dress pictured online. I took the dress to a tailor and had her cut off the long ties and tassels. I felt they made the dress look too much like a beach cover-up, so I just got them taken off! I loved the end result.
(Sorry for the bad lighting.)

#toiletphotobomb
We took several pics trying to get a good one of the two of us.
AND LISTEN TO THIS.
We even tried to set a timer on Shay’s phone, and I thought it would be a great idea to use a glass that was sitting out to prop the phone up on top of my closed laptop.
So, I picked up the glass and turned it over on the laptop….
but wait for it……
the glass had water in it.
HORROR OF HORRORS.
I’m not sure, but I’m pretty certain that the universe might have stopped spinning for like a nanosecond.
I had just thrown water on my laptop.
I remained calm (that’s not really true), and Shay shot into action.
Luckily, the computer was okay.
I was of course feeling a little stupid for YOU KNOW, POURING A GLASS OF WATER ON TO MY COMPUTER, but I’m thinking I’ll get over it. Eventually.
After we cleaned up the water, we were able to snap a couple of pics!
I’m so thankful for this girl and our friendship.
Shay was the one who initially encouraged me to start blogging, and having her to do it with has made this experience so much more fun and so much sweeter.
I pretty much want to walk around with this filter on my face for the rest of my life.
I love a good filter.
The taping was SO. MUCH. FUN.
It was lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng…and I do mean long….but I’m so happy I had the opportunity to go. Thanks again Sean for making it happen!
So I obviously can’t talk about the show and what we saw, but I have to say,
IT WAS THE MOST DRAMATIC MEN TELL ALL EVER.
😉
I’m so anxious to see what parts make it to air and what parts gets edited out.
I had to sign a contract that I wouldn’t talk, and to be honest, I’m a big ol’ scaredy cat….so that’s all I’m going to say about the taping at this point!
We did get to meet some girls from LH (my high school) that graduated with Chris Harrison and are still friends with him! Shout out girls!
They were such a fun group of girlfriends and it was fun connecting the dots with people we knew and teachers we had all had in high school.
I stole this (with permission) off of Lynn’s facebook page.
Jamie, Susybelle, Harrison, Lynn, Emily, and Maria
(Here’s a fun little tidbit! Look at Emily’s shoes! The MUST HAVE wedges!!!)
Also shout out to Angie, the girl who was sitting next to me who was nice enough to schedule an Uber for us for the way home since we didn’t have our phones. Thank you Angie!
I would have made sure to get pics with all of these girls BUT I DIDN’T HAVE MY PHONE.
So here we are after we got home.
We were seriously sore after sitting down for so long..making sure we had good posture so we didn’t look all frumpy and slumped over if we happened to be caught on film was really hard work.
We got back to the hotel, and this happened.
I was laughing so hard because I felt (my picture especially) like it looked like a crime scene.
We were dying because so many of you were concerned about our accommodations after seeing the above pictures on ig.
And when we looked at the pics, we totally could see why you were all worried for our well being!
Well, no need to worry, we were actually staying at The Line, a really nice hotel on Wilshire Blvd!
The rooms had a very industrial feel, which explains the unfinished concrete walls.
Here’s a pic of what our room looked like.
See? Not scary at all!
But the halls were another story.
I mean, seriously. Check out the halls.
We composed ourselves 🙂 and then headed to Commissary (one the hotel’s restaurants) for the 3rd time.
For those of you keeping track…yes…for the 3rd time in 2 days. 😉
Here’s a picture of it.
I spent more than several minutes wondering how the heck they watered all of those hanging plants without getting everything inside soaking wet!
Margaritas were just what we needed.
That, a shrimp po boy, a french drip, lots of french fries, and a spicy caramelized pecan mini bundt cake. And more girl talk.
Fast and furious, but so great to get to have lots of good time with a friend and get a little behind the scenes peek at a show I’ve watched for YEARS!
Thank you Shay for going with me!
Now, before you go, you know I had to give you a couple of more Anniversary Sale picks! I asked y’all on Monday night on facebook what else you wanted to see from the sale, and I basically got every answer in the book!
So, I will continue to put some more favorite finds and picks on the bottom of all of my posts right now. And remember, the sale goes live on Friday for everybody!
I will have a super comprehensive post on Friday that starts with NEW ITEMS, and then will give you a review of everything I’ve already talked about. It will make your shopping super easy!
I put this waterfall cardi on facebook over the weekend, but I realized it had never made it to the blog. It’s soft, it’s a great length, and I feel like it could be the blardigan’s cousin.
For size reference, I’m wearing a small….but I tried on an x-small afterwards, and I liked the fit of it even better. Just a personal preference.
cardi / jeans / cami / booties / earrings / necklace
Several of you asked for watches, so here are 4 of my favs available in the sale.
Starting counter clockwise from the top left:
dual tone Michael Kors / Gorjana bracelet
silver Michael Kors / Nadri bracelet*
Michele watch / Nadri bracelet*
man’s Michael Kors / beaded multi-cord bracelet
*I absolutely love the Nadri bracelets available in the sale this year, but if you don’t have a super slim wrist, I wouldn’t recommend them. They are quite hard to get off and on.
The Anniversary Sale is a GREAT time to be a watch!
And I also REALLY loved THIS option from Fossil.
During Sale Price: $102.90 / After Sale Price: $155
Click HERE for this army green Fossil.

You two are the cutest!! Looks like you had an amazing time!! Love your Michael Kors cross body bag!!
Kim says
I have a question about the Nadri Pave Station bracelet you posted. I saw it on another blog yesterday and put it in my cart. However I do NOT have a slim wrist, so am now hesitant to order it. From the description it says that it has a hinge closer, so I thought it might now cause a problem putting it on like other bangle style bracelets. Please advise.
Sheaffer says
Hi Kim! I think you probably need to pass this bracelet by. It does have hinge closure, but the bracelet BARELY OPENS at all. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kris says
THREE cheese balls??!!?? Whaaaat? No wonder people in LA are crabby…they are hungry! I splurged for the Frye bag and it came yesterday. Our store in Nashville didn't carry it so I was so anxious when the box arrived. Omigosh . . . To. Die. For.
Pamela says
I have been stalking the fringe bucket bag that you are showing on your Instagram. I backed away from it because the dimensions seemed on the small side, but in your pic it looks more substantial. The bag is not in stock near me. So tell me, do you feel like it can hold a lot of "stuff"? Also, what did you think of the gray color?
Sheaffer says
Hi Pamela! I haven't seen the grey color in person, but I'm pretty sure I'm about to order it for myself. I didn't put anything in it, but I do feel like it would hold quite a bit more than most small crossbody bags. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Christina says
Looks like y'all had so much fun! This post had me laughing out loud several times. Quick question…. I am buying one of the shirts that you wore with the white jeans. I've gone back and forth between the pink that you are wearing and the ivory/black speckled. Is one more versatile or "prettier"? Is the ivory at all see though where you need a cami? I'm leaning toward the ivory.
Sheaffer says
Hi Christina! I loved the ivory one too, and it didn't need a cami!!!!! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Robyn Marrie says
3 cheeseballs?!?! What in the world? Lol! Loved the post- can't wait for details!
Pamela says
Oh and one more question–would Shay be willing to share where she found her black racerback dress? I am on the hunt for that exact dress. Much Thanks!
Sheaffer says
Hi Pamela! I know it's from Nordstrom! E-mail her direction at mixandmatchmama@yahoo.com and I'm sure she will lead you directly to it! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Gail Wilson says
That hotel looks fab! I'm in San Diego, so I may take a weekend drive with the hubster to check it out.
I received the first of a zillion boxes yesterday from THE SALE. I bought two blardigans; one for me and one for Mommy. Not sure if the sizing is different now, but my S/M was ginormous. I got a large for my Mom as she's got about 35-40 lbs on me, so I'm thinking that'll just swallow her up. Did you notice any difference? On the bright side, it is softer than ever and the blue stripes are perfect. I thought about the beige stripes, but with my red hair and Casper-like complexion, I need all the color I can get!
One more thing, is that man's Kors watch suitable for a women's small wrist? Its exactly what I've been looking for.
Sheaffer says
Hi Gail! I do feel like some of them are a bit longer this year. The good news is that if you wash them and dry them ALL THE WAY, they will shrink up a bit. And yes, even though it's a man's watch, I loved it on me! I thought it would be a great look for fall!!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Tiffany Bagalini says
Was DYING over the goat balls comment! Welcome to Southern California, we don't each much here! In LOVE, LOVE, LOVE with the Frye fringe bag. I need some fringe in my life this season.
KRISTIN TATE says
Love y'all!! Looks like the girl in the picture directly behind y'all in the airplane pic was also looking frantically for her puke bag!!!!
Lindsay at Lindsay'sSweetWorld says
Love you girls! And I'm so jealous that you guys got to go to this! How fun!!
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
You girls look so dang cute, and it sounds like the perfect getaway.
Leigh Clark says
Fun, fun, fun trip! I know treasured time with girlfriends is so special!
Erica says
Those camo PJ are too die for! So dang cute! My hubby is in the army, and I'm pretty sure he would think they're awesome! Looks like y'all had so much fun! I have two tabs up to check out when I finish chatting with ya – those pjs (duh) and that hotel (because, whoa). 🙂

I am interested in getting a blardigan but for some reason the different colors all look different lengths in the pictures…is it just an optical illusion or are some different lengths? Thought you might have some insight:).
Sheaffer says
I think the striped ones are longer! Hope this helps!
Katelyn Sloan says
You guys are so cute!!!! Hope you had a blast! (Your PJ's were probably my favorite outfit!!)

Oh my gosh! SO fun!!1 Can't wait to see the show next week and to hear more! Sean is AMAZING for getting you tickets!

I am surprised you all didn't listen to the clothing advice. They are experts, just trying to make sure you look your best on TV. Love your dresses, but not everything translates well on camera 🙁
Sheaffer says
I was a nervous wreck about it! But we literally got the e-mail the day before we left for L.A., and I didn't have time to look for something else. It said "jewel tones", I looked in my closet, and I didn't feel like I had anything appropriate for the occasion. We knew we wouldn't be interviewed or anything, so we decided to just stick to the plan. Shay also said she thought that it was more for people (like former contestants) that might possibly be interviewed on camera. But actually, nobody was interviewed…and even the former contestants were wearing colors that we were told to avoid in the e-mail. But yes…I'm a rule follower by nature, so it made me nervous!

Hi Sheaffer!!
I am going to purchase the Frye boots tomorrow! I don't have big calves or anything, but the reviews on the website said they were a bit snug around the calves even for a regular-calf size person… how did yours fit with jeans tucked inside? It's making me nervous!!

Beth Kaiser says
I know you can't tell us anything about the show itself, but can you tell us where you were sitting so we can try to glimpse you on TV Monday? 🙂
P.S. I've now placed 9 orders! OMG! Some things I've already gotten, others are on their way.
Sheaffer says
Hi Beth! We are pretty much sitting right behind Chris Harrison. 🙂

Just watched the show. You got as much air time as Kaitlyn!

I was at the taping too and I was the crazy girl who was like, "I know you!" as you walked by to change seats in that freezing cold holding room! I regret not talking to you and Shay but I didn't want to be a super stalker! Glad you guys had fun and your dress looked great! I had to run out shopping Friday night to fit the rules too! 🙂
