The Blardigan is Moving On Up! Favorite #5! And an AWESOME Giveaway!

For weeks, all my blog calendar had written on it for today was The #5 Favorite from 2013.
 But then I ended up deciding to name a new MUST HAVE.
You’re basically getting two posts in one today.
So, the post today is llllloooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggg.
But it’s worth it.
There’s even a giveaway at the end, so stick with me.  🙂

Today I’m naming MY BELOVED BLARDIGAN a MUST HAVE.
Yep, I am.
STOP THE PRESSES.
SOUND THE ALARMS.

If you’re new here and don’t know what a blardigan is, I’ve got a definition for you:
 Blardigan , noun. 
 An article of clothing that functions like a cardigan but feels like a blanket.

I made up the word.
And purely fyi, I’m going to call the people at Webster’s later today to see about getting it added to the dictionary.

I first talked about the blardigan on November 4th, and here I am, almost 2 months later naming it a MUST HAVE.
I know.  It’s weird that I waited so long.
BUT LISTEN.
It IS a MUST HAVE.

I texted Shay on Saturday and told her I was going to do this because I wanted her opinion.
(We pretty much consult each other on most things blog related.)
I
felt weird about naming something a MUST HAVE soooo long after first
introducing it to you guys, but I really REALLY wanted to.
Well.
Shay had some wise words.
She said, “Sometimes you have to live with something awhile to know that it’s a MUST HAVE.”
True that Shay.
True that.

I
also think that she had a unique perspective here because she had
been hearing me rave about mine for a couple of months, but she just received hers several days before.
When I texted her, she was out of town at her in-laws, and it was her
3rd day IN A ROW to wear it.
At that point she was drinking the blardigan juice and was totally on board with MUST HAVE status
because it had definitely become a MUST HAVE for her!

Here’s the picture where I first introduced it to you the first week of November.
(By the way, it was the same day that I named the ultra wide waistband leggings a MUST HAVE.  Dang, that was a big day!)  🙂
Even back then I thought it was woven by angels.
(And look how good it looks with my MUST HAVE skinny jeans HERE, my MUST HAVE shirt HERE (make sure you size down), my Sanibel Pendant HERE,
and my Cognac Wedge boots HERE.)

I considered naming it a MUST HAVE then, but I didn’t for a couple of reasons.
I knew it was expensive, and I also knew it appeared to be a kind of specialty item since it was actually purchased in the lounge wear department but I was telling you that I was going to be wearing it out of the house.
Back then I thought
I was going to wear it a lot and that it would be worth the money, but I
had NO IDEA at the time how I was going to live in it for days on end.
Let’s be real.
Weeks.
Weeks on end.

I wear it with jeans, and I always get compliments.
I wear it with leggings (am sooo happy with how it covers my backside),
and I always get compliments.
But most often, I find myself wearing it at home.
Mainly
because I don’t care if Chris comments about how I’m wearing it for the
4th day in a row, but it might be weird for people at work to tell me
that.  🙂

I think I officially decided it needed to be upgraded to a MUST HAVE when
I came home from the candlelight service on Christmas Eve and I put on my pjs and the blardigan.
{Sidenote:  I was also cuddled up with a blanket that Barefoot Dreams sent me after I contacted them about providing a blardigan for the 12 Days of Christmas giveaway.

I have NEVER IN MY LIFE cuddled up under anything more delightful.}
I was SO cozy and SO happy.

And
I know this is kind of crazy, but I’m thinking of getting the cocoa exclusively for wearing at home BECAUSE I CAN’T SEEM TO TAKE IT OFF
WHEN I AM AT HOME.
I literally walk through the door, strip, put on my pajamas, and then throw on the blardigan.
I don’t care if it’s 3:00 in the afternoon, if I know I’m in for the evening, that’s what is happening.
And then I sit around and then think about how I’ve never been more comfortable and cozy in my whole entire life. 
For real.

So, I started thinking about naming it a MUST HAVE on Christmas Eve.
And then, on Saturday I was sitting at lunch with my family (in my blardigan. duh.), when I looked at instagram and saw this post from Shay.

She started a BLARDIGAN FIRESTORM!  🙂

And I knew it’s new status was totally warranted.

I’ve had it, and it is DELICIOUS and so festive!

So………..drum roll please……. here’s the official MUST HAVE picture.

and for right now it is still in stock!

It only comes in 2 sizes.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small/medium.  It is PLENTY long to wear with leggings.  The arms are fitted which I think is what makes it appropriate to wear out of the house (and makes it not look like lounge wear).
I also have some tall friends that were SO EXCITED that this was long enough for them to wear with leggings.  Mel (from The Larson Lingo) said it is long enough for her, and NOTHING is ever long enough for her!  If I remember correctly, I think Mel is 5’9″.

Also, if you read the reviews, so many women wear it while they are pregnant too!  Many even talk about taking it to the hospital with them!

Below is when I wore it this weekend when we were out doing lunch and errands.
(I had it on with my pj’s that morning, I showered, put on jeans and a t-shirt, and threw it back on.)

I posted it on instagram and had the idea if you wanted to post a picture of yourself in the blardigan to do so and use the hashtag #blardiganlove.

YOUR #5 FAVORITE POST of 2013:
NUDE FLATS

First up in your #5 Favorite post, I showed you how I had created 6 different looks with 3 wardrobe basics (spanning all 4 seasons) when I had guest posted on my friend Shanna’s blog.
All I did in each outfit was change out my shirt and my bottoms.  Everything else was the same!
And if you’ll notice, I was wearing my nude flats in each look.

 All of the above pics contained 3 WARDROBE STAPLES:
1) 
a denim jacket (color in above pics sold out, but 2 other colors available HERE)
2) nude flats (my exact pair HERE)

3)  a statement necklace (exact color of my necklace sold out, but check out THIS one HERE)
love the pink colorway and the turquoise colorway!

The versatility of the nude flats definitely surprised me the most.
The only reason I even bought them was because of the following picture.
 

And because I knew a lot of you might continue to question the versatility of a nude
flat (just like I did!), I put together a Pinterest collage showing us

 Isn’t it amazing how they look just as good with cold weather outfits as they
 do with warm weather outfits?

    Ok you have completely sold me on the blardigan! I'm about five months pregnant so I'm thinking this is just what I need to get me through the last couple months of pregnancy during a very snowy winter!     So hard to choose from all those colours! But I would be wise and start with the nude and discover all the ways to wear them and then maybe branch out from there! Already own the must-have leggings, shirt and scarf – all since discovering your blog in October – thanks for the great analysis of each item since ordering online from Canada is an extra commitment (no free shipping or free returns…) I wear the scarf at least 2-3 times a week and I have a lot of scarves to choose from. Keep up the good work! Martha.

    I love the nude ones! I tried on the pair you own at Nordstrom, but the left one kept squeeking–weird I know. The store only had that one in my size, so I missed out on that purchase. 🙁 After seeing all of the ways to wear a nude flat, I just have to get a pair…VERY soon.

Teaching 30 kindergarteners all day is exhausting, but doing it in a pair of Tieks and a BLARDDIGAN might make it A LOT more bearable! Oh yeah!     I had never heard of these shoes but love the snake or leopard ones. Also I am siting here reading this in my bardigan- for the 3rd time since getting it on Christmas. By the way I am a size 16 and the l/xl works. I was worried about the arms but they have stretched a little and now it fits perfect for sure a MUST have.

    Yes yes and yes!! blardigan is definitely a 'must have'… Truth be told.. I purchased it November and felt guilty about spending so much.. Kept thinking of other uses for the money…. And so it sat there, on my glider, whispering to me to wear it and fall in love, to treat myself for once, to wrap myself in a cloud of cozy goodness… And so finally I did. And then did so again and again and once I actually slept in it and it was all over! I wear this baby all the time and it washes so well… Now I want another, like you, because while this gift from heaven was in the laundry I felt naked! Lol… Thank you Sheaffer for all that you do 🙂

    And the Tieks! Have been on my wish list forever! I can't decide between cobalt blue or California navy… (Already own the nude ones you recommended ) 😉

    Uhhh, can I say ALL THE COLORS? The orange is making me happy, but…oh, the camel or the chocolate would be sooo flexible…but the metallic pewter…sooo pretty.

    Ok seriously you and I need to be fashion friends! We have the same taste! Every time I check your blog, which is daily, I hear myself saying OMG I have those or I literally just bought it. I have the same nude flats and love them too! I also highly recommend the Sam Edelman flats. I own a few pairs and they are the most comfortable flats ever! I also have a pair of their booties and love the too! I also want to thank you so much on the tip of the fringe scarf….I LOOOVe it! I wear it all the time, looks great with a flannel shirt! Wish I bought another one but too late, it is no longer available! Bummer! Anyways thanks for awesome blog…one of your biggest fans!

    Loved my blardigan so much that my dad bought one for my mom. She preceded to wear it no joke for about 10 days straight (everywhere from Hawaii to San Diego to Las Vegas) so he bought her two more for Christmas! I have to jump on the nude flats band wagon. The tieks look awesome! Oh and just to let you know the Nordstrom sales girls in San Diego and Orange County have been told about and are using your term "blardigan"….. Genius I tell ya, genius!

    I received my ombré blardigan for Christmas and wore it for 3 days straight- only taking it off to wash it cuz my sick son slimed me. On Sat I too saw Shay's Instagr post and while my blardigan was washing I ran out to Nordy's and bought the cocoa. No joke! I'm having surgery on Jan 22 and guaranteed I will be living in these and must-have leggings during recovery!

    The blardigan is on my birthday list (my birthday is in 2 weeks)! I asked my mom for the midnight ombre and my hubby for the cocoa. This pregnant lady needs comfy clothes. I also asked for the Hue leggings. I can't believe I haven't ordered any yet! Hopefully they will fit my soon to be expanding belly.

    Hmmm, I am loving the metallic pewter & gold, as well as the nude! I may be jumping on the blardigan train soon-my mil is hopefully swapping out some Christmas gifts that didn't work for a Nordies gift card for me! My sil told her all along not to bother with anything else, but she didn't listen.     I have to tell you a very sad story. A days before Christmas I broke down and ordered the blardigan for myself. It is absolutely gorgeous and drapes beautifully and is truly the softest ever. But the weird thing is the sleeves on the S/M were just a tad bit snug. I thought about dealing with it and had even got dressed in it for the day. Well, honestly for as expensive as it is, I just couldn't deal. So I decided I would get the L/XL and it was way too big and didn't have the same cute fit in the sleeves. Seriously, it was a sad, sad day for me when I had to return it. I still am sad. I even tried on another one in the S/M thinking it might be different but no luck. GET IT PEOPLE YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. That is, unless you are me. 🙁
