The Bachelor: THE WOMEN TELL ALL Recap is My Jam

If you are a Bachelor fan, but new to these recaps, you might have some catching up to do!  Click HERE to see all of the recaps from the previous episodes.  In most recent news, last week on the Fantasy Suite dates Ben told both Lauren AND JoJo that he loved them.  And we were all like “SAY WHAT?”  If we’re being honest, I still haven’t recovered.

So this week was The Women Tell All, which is often times my very favorite episode of each season.  And I just have to say, I was sooooo sad to not be there, although it was nice to not want to brush my bangs out during the entire episode (see below).  (Click HERE if you’re new here and want to see when Shay and I went to the Women Tell All for Kaitlyn’s season last summer!) But seriously,  what does a girl have to do to get an invitation to every Women Tell All episode until the end of time?  Harrison.  Call me.  I will also accept After The Final Rose invitations. #i’mnotpicky

So I of course love The Women Tell All specials because of the heightened potential for drama, but I also like them because it’s where Chris Harrison SHINES.  Like the man can do no wrong in these episodes.  He doesn’t let anybody off the hook EVER, but he hammers them for information in a charming way.  It’s genius, really.

Before we get started, let’s talk about the no fail formula that the Women Tell All episodes follow.  First and foremost, we all know that when the girls get introduced, we won’t remember a handful of them.  And we also know that the girls who we don’t recognize, well they are going to be the ones that won’t. shut. up.  It happens every dang time.   I mean, how else are these unknowns going to campaign for a coveted spot on Bachelor In Paradise?  Some girls will deny that they said certain things EVEN THOUGH IT IS ON CAMERA.  And then we usually end up liking somebody who we previously hated.   Oh, and a couple girls always cut bangs or get highlights.

TIME TO INTRODUCE THE LADIES!

It’s always fun to see who the audience applauds loudly for and who gets crickets.  They applauded Olivia, but boo’d Leah.  Interesting.  Leah’s “Lauren isn’t who you think she is” shenannigans didn’t win her any fans.  Another moment you might want to note is that what’s her name brought her chicken that went rogue for a bit.  That blurry white thing heading for Lace?  Yep, that’s Sheila, the chicken.

And the girl in the yellow dress?  Well she and her boobs CAME TO PLAY.  AND TALK.  So get ready for that.

For real, who is this?  Izzy?  Who?  Never heard of her.

Harrison likes to just get right down to it, and I appreciate that. Right out of the box Leah’s lies about Lauren being different with the girls than she was with Ben was brought up.   And Leah said she didn’t mean to not tell the truth.  Yeah, and I didn’t mean to eat the entire row of Thin Mints Leah,  but I did.  And now we both have to deal with the consequences.

Harrison then asked Jubilee abut the drama surrounding her throughout the season.  It’s here we found out that there was apparently a race argument in the house.  The boobs in the yellow dress and Amber both claimed that Jubilee said she was the “full black” girl on the show.  Which greatly offended them.  Jubilee was just kind of like, well I am “full black”, so I said it. But after Shushanna spoke up (that’s right girls, Shushanna either spoke English all along or did some serious Rosetta-Stone cramming after getting kicked off), Jubilee softened a bit and realized that she might have hurt their feelings.  She apologized, and it seemed genuine.  I’ll admit, I didn’t really get the argument, but whatevs.

The conversation around Jubilee continued, so Harrison went ahead and invited her down to talk to him. And the girl was looking GORGEOUS.  Harrison was sweet and let her know that Ben truly did see something in her.  Jubilee was teary during much of the talk, but basically just said she’s not a good fit for the show.  She ended her hot seat time by announcing that she had recently made Sergeant, which is very cool for her!

Lace was next.  I must say, I was glad to see Lace.  I had been missing her special brand of crazy.  But in a surprise twist, Lace came off like a normal girl, and looked pretty smokin’ while doing it (with her new short little bob and highlights).  While talking with Harrison she said she’s tried to stop using the word “crazy” so much in her dating life (good call, Lace) and that she learned by watching herself that she needed to work on not interrupting people.  Learning from your mistakes, I like it.  And then this completely RANDO guy jumped out of the audience and showed off a tattoo of Lace’s face on his side.  And then he sang I’m a Little Teapot.

Harrison extended the formal invitation to Lace for Bachelor in Paradise, and she accepted!  YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Let’s all hope Lace reverts back to her “I’m not crazy” ways (yeah, sure you’re not Lace), because that makes for good t.v.  And I’m hopeful, because even completely normal girls turn a little bit cray with the perfect combination of high temperatures and alcohol, so FINGERS CROSSED.  And y’all….how much would you like to see Lace and Kentucky Joe together?  That would be t.v. magic.

Olivia’s turn in the hot seat.  She got herself a cute little bob, and here’s something I wasn’t expecting: MY GOODNESS I had some serious compassion for her.  She took responsibility for all of her actions, said that watching herself was really hard, talked about how she was bullied as a child, and then she gave a heart-felt apology to Amanda for the teen mom comment.  And here’s the deal, the apology seemed totally genuine.  I believed it, and Amanda was gracious and accepted the apology.  And I sat there quite confused because I really did find myself liking Olivia.  What was this alternate universe that I was in?

But the twins weren’t having it.  NOPE, they just weren’t buying it.  In the end, I think the twins came off as looking juvenile, and Olivia came off as self-aware.  In addition, I thought the burgundy stretch velvet dress was an odd choice for Twin #2, but that’s neither here nor there.

Next was Caila.  Caila appeared to still be very much in love with Ben.  And although she’s of course still cute as a button, her hair seemed to be less bouncy than before.  Which concerned me greatly.  I guessed it was probably indicative of her emotional state.  I’m hoping a deep conditioning treatment and a little time to heal her broken heart will restore her hair to it’s natural vitality and bounce.

Word on the street has it that she’s the next Bachelorette.  She did say that she is ready to find somebody that looks at her the way that Ben looks at Lauren and JoJo.  Spoken like a true future Bachelorette has been told to (by producers) if you ask me.   But I’ve got to be honest… although I do want her hair,  I don’t want her on my t.v. for another 2 1/2 month journey for love.  (If it was up to me, Ben would choose Lauren, which would allow JoJo to be the next Bachelorette.)

And just FYI, this girl wins for facial expressions.

Ben got there and Harrison clearly has a deep and abiding love for this man, but he’s not the only one.  Harrison calls on Caila, Lauren, Amanda, Becca, and Olivia and they each get a turn to scold Ben.  BUT THEY DON’T.  He broke up with all of them….on National t.v…and they were all pretty surprised when he did…but they basically all just said that he’s wonderful, loving, kind, amazing, compassionate, awesome, and hot.  Impressive.  Carol must be so proud.

At the very end of the episode, when Harrison asked Ben if he was happy, the answer might as well have been “Golly gee whitakers Mr. Harrison, I sure am.”  This boy next door of ours says “I’m more in love than I’ve ever been, and I would marry that woman tomorrow if I could.”  GOOD MOVE, BEN.  I mean, think about it ladies, you know he is playing MAJOR DAMAGE CONTROL with whomever he’s engaged to right now.   You know, the whole I love 2 girls thing pretty much mandates damage control.

Before the show ends, we get to watch some previews from next week.  AND Y’ALL.  I CAN’T.  I’M AN EMOTIONAL MESS.  I need a taco.  Preferably of the brisket variety.
