Happy Monday, everybody! And happy Thanksgiving week! We have lots of fun planned with family this week that we are excited about…but we are also looking forward to some down time that involves snuggling on the couch, staying up late, and lazy mornings. We are pumped!
I will still be posting my regular Monday, Wednesday, and Friday over here so make sure you come around! Here’s what I have planned for the week: Wednesday is another edition of Conner’s Closet with my sister, and Friday I’m going to be your Black Friday tour guide. I will have ALL THE DEALS outlined for you. I know Black Friday can be incredibly overwhelming, but I will help you in your online quest to score all the best deals. I have NEVER gone out on Black Friday to brave the crowds, but my goodness I’ve been known to do some SERIOUS damage online.
But first, today I have a fun post planned working with Vince Camuto! If you’re like me, you are familiar with the brand because of their awesome shoes, specifically their boots and booties since they are carried at lots of major department stores. I have two pairs of Vince Camuto booties from the last several years (these are what initially made me a fan of the brand) and they are both cute and incredibly comfy!
When they reached out and asked me to partner with them, they wanted me to talk not only about their boots, but also about the rest of the items in their line! I knew they had really great bags too, but what I had forgotten is that the brand also has clothes.
So, I popped over to Vince Camuto to check everything out and was amazed at the selection! I found lots of things that are only on Vince Camuto exclusively, so you won’t find them at any department store. I looked around, found lots that I liked, and the team at Vince was generous enough to send several things over. I also purchased a couple of things myself. Today, I’m going to be highlighting a GORGEOUS pair of over the knee black boots (that I’ll be wearing in all of the outfits today), an AMAZING bag, and lots of great pieces of clothing! (You can click here to read about their shipping and return policies. Spoiler Alert: Free U.S. standard shipping on all orders!)
Let’s start off with this really fun bell sleeve plaid shirt! Now, I always love a plaid, and this bold black and white plaid caught my eye immediately while browsing the site. It’s a perfect fit (as I almost always do with button ups, I sized up to a medium in this shirt. ), and it drapes very nicely for a button up.

Now, while writing the post, I realized I hadn’t done a good job of photographing the sleeves in the above indoor shots. Luckily Chris and I had popped outside to grab a detail shot for instagram! Thought I would share it here too, because you need to see these pretty flutter bell sleeves. This shot also gives you a better idea about the size of the bag (it’s huge) and a better look at the boots (they’re gorgeous).
I want to stop for a quick second before the next outfit to scream and shout about how much I love these over the knee boots.
I haven’t owned a pair of tall black boots in probably 5 years or so, maybe more. I typically just gravitate towards browns, taupes, and other neutrals…because even if I’m wearing them with black pants or a black top…I like the contrast they give.
But when Vince reached out, I wanted to show something new and different. So I stretched my comfort zone a bit, and I got these over the knee boots in black. AND I COULDN’T LOVE THEM MORE. In fact, after wearing them with several outfits already, I’m starting to wonder how in the wonder I lived without black boots for so many years. It’s like they add a touch of sophistication to whatever I’m wearing!
So, if you’re like me and haven’t had a pair of black boots in awhile, I’ve got some awesome options for you!
This next top caught my eye and I knew I had to try it. It’s a plaid that would be great for the holidays, but it doesn’t scream Christmas, so you can definitely wear it all fall and winter long. I like the neckline and the added detail of the ruffle on each side and down the back. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
It’s not a long top at all (you can see it worn out on the left), but it has enough length that you can do a tiny tuck if you would like (as seen on the right).

And let’s take a quick second to talk about the bag. It’s very large (16.5″ W x 11″ H x 3.25″ D) and can hold all sort of things. It has 2 interior zippered pockets and 2 media pockets, and it’s made of a GORGEOUS leather. It comes in a pretty cognac too, but since I was really wanting to mix things up a bit for myself (and I already have several cognac bags), I chose the black. And just like the boots, I’ve been totally surprised at how much I love the black bag! It can be worn on the shoulder or cross body style. And you can unzip it along the handbag’s edges to expand its depth, if you so choose. The gold hardware is totally chic, but is also a bit edgy. This is a classic bag that I will be carrying for years and years.
Here are some other bags to choose from, in various colors:
This next outfit definitely wins the COMFORT award. The dress is sweatshirt material, but you can better believe I’ll be wearing it to church. Nobody will be any the wiser that I’m wearing a sweatshirt! It’s a great deep wine color, and has cute ties on the sleeves. Now, in the picture below, I have it turned up 2-3 inches. It was VERY long on me (which is great news for you tall ladies), but I like it enough that I’m going to take it to get altered. I generally hate taking the time to get things altered, but I like this dress so much that it’s definitely worth it to me.
Also worth mentioning, I was incredibly surprised at how much I loved the look of the black over the knee boots with the black leggings. It was just SO CHIC! This combo definitely lengthened my legs, and I felt like I was at least 5’10”! 😉
For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the dress. Make sure you size down in the leggings. I’m wearing a small petite, and I think I could maybe even do an x-small petite (it’s just not available).

The picture on the left is showing the dress turned under several inches, to be more in proportion with my almost 5’4″ frame. The picture on the right shows the dress without being folded. I know it’s kind of hard to see, but unaltered, the dress hits the top of the over knee boots.
And I’ve got one more item for y’all! I get a good number of requests for really warm winter coats, but I personally don’t really like wearing coats on the daily….and in my area, you very rarely need a super warm coat.
Still, I saw this coat and really wanted to try it. And y’all. I love it! I know it will keep me incredibly warm, and I’m happy I’ll look cute when all warm and toasty inside this DARLING coat. It has a lot of cool hardware on it, just like the bag.

It’s quite long on me, which again, is good news for you taller ladies. I love the quilted pattern, the knit cuffs, and the sweatshirt hood.
And here are some other coats that you might like!
A huge thank you to Vince Camuto for sponsoring this post!

Those boots! And I love that sweatshirt dress. I’m 5’7″, so I’m thinking it will be perfect for me!

Hi Sheaffer! I’ve never commented before, but seeing your over the knee boots spurred me into posting. I’m 5’9″ so 97% of OTK boots are not, in fact, even up to my knee. I recently ordered some Vince Camuto Croatia OTK boots in black suede, and they are perfect. Comfortable, 26.5 inches high, one inch heel, stretchy back with cute criss cross detail at the back… They also come in taupe. I’ve been very picky about tall black boots, because I definitely want to avoid a hooker vibe, but these are way more classy than many I’ve seen. I have thin calves, and these fit perfectly without being baggy, but I think they may come in wide wide calf, too.
And I just looked them up on Nordstrom and saw that they are now on sale for $138, after I just paid $199 for them a week and a half ago! Anyway, for your taller readers, these boots are amazing and I highly recommend them. ????

Thanks for the tall girl tips, Heather!!!

Call Nordstrom and they’ll give you a price adjustment. There’s a reason their customer service gets the praise it does!

I have the boots and they they are awesome. They elongate my legs and are so flattering. I love them with jeans, but wearing them with leggings is my favorite.

anyone have any tips on how to get these puppies on? I have a similar pair of VC OTK boots with the short inside zipper. it’s a STRUGGLE to get my jeans not to bunch at the bottom.
Sheaffer says
Hey, Molly! I just slipped them on, stuck my hand through the zippered opening to pull the jeans down, and then zipped them up! It’s of course easier with leggings, but I was still able to do it with skinny jeans. Maybe your boots are different enough that it causes a problem? xoxo, Sheaffer

It looks silly if you’re going somewhere where you have to then take your boots off, but I always just wear higher socks that I pull up over my jeans. I then slide right into my boots and don’t have to worry about bunching.
Sheaffer says
Now THAT’S a great idea, Kate!!!!! I’m going to do that!!!!!! Thank for the tip! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

awesome! thanks Kate! I will try that! and thanks Sheaffer!
