Happy Friday, Ladies!
I’m working with Macy’s and ShopStyle today who are sponsoring this post, and we are talking about a new trend! It’s a trend I’ve been seeing a lot, I’ve been admiring it from afar, but I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off or not.
WELL.
I jumped in!
What’s the trend, you ask?
I thought I wasn’t cool enough for this look, but this pair of jeans caught my eye, I decided to give them a whirl, and I fell in love! And to be honest, whether I’m cool enough or not, they make me feel cool. #andilikefeelingcool
Before we go any further, you need to know that there’s a Fall Fashion Event and Fall Home Sale going on at Macy’s right now! With the code FALL, you get 20% OFF pretty much everything. WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY HUGE. And you’ll receive FREE SHIPPING with a purchase of $99. #SCORE
So, side striped jeans .
Sure, they’re totally on trend…but what in the heck do you wear with them?
Well, I’m going to create 2 looks for y’all today so you can see that styling them isn’t hard.
I was concerned that the stripe down the side of a pair of jeans would limit me in terms of what I could pair with them, and to some extent I guess it does. I mean, I’m not going to bust out a gingham shirt with them or anything. But I’m finding that there’s still PLENTY to go with the jeans. Of course you could always wear a plain colored tee or sweater (white, olive, grey, black, maroon) with them, but today I’m showing you how you can be bolder with your choices if you want to be! HOW CUTE ARE THESE OUTFITS!
Okay, let’s get to LOOK #1!
For the first outfit, I doubled down on the stripes. I mean, GO BIG OR GO HOME, right? I figured if I was wearing a stripe down the side of my jeans, I should go ahead and wear one down my front too. AND Y’ALL. It works!
sweater (40% OFF!)/ necklace / earrings / side striped jeans (Buy 1, Get 2nd 50% OFF when you buy 2 pairs of jeans!)/ booties( 40% OFF) / cross body bag option
  Â
The sweater has a loose and relaxed fit (my favorite kind of fit), and it’s very soft and comfy. It sits right at my hips, so it’s on the shorter side, but it’s by no means too short. I like that it’s a different length than most of my other sweaters! It obviously has a bold stripe that runs down the front and the back, and I love it paired with the jeans. It would of course look great with regular denim too. And it’s nice enough that it could even be worn to the office with some nice slacks or a pencil skirt. And get this. It’s 40% OFF!
Okay, let’s talk about the star of today’s post:  the side striped jeans. If you’ve followed my blog for any amount of time, you know I love good basics. I think it’s so important for your closet to have items that can be worn over and over again and totally stand the test of time. I just really love having pieces that I pull out even 5 years after I first buy them.
Now, that being said, these jeans probably won’t fall into that category. HOWEVER, I was more than willing to spend $65 to have a really cool pair of jeans for a season or two! They are flattering, sporty, super unique, and SO MUCH FUN to wear! For size reference, I’m wearing my regular 27s. You’ll see in these pictures that they are a little long on my 5’4″ frame, so I’m going to get them hemmed with a raw hem so they are the perfect ankle length for me. (Later in the post, you will see them cuffed up.)
And we have to talk about the booties. They come in black too, but I was drawn to this light brown/taupe color. True to size for me, and very comfy. I thought all of the hardware and the buckles made them just the perfect amount of edgy. And they are an incredible price.
The necklace is gold with deep red tassels, and although I’ll be wearing it with a ton of my fall outfits, it pairs perfectly with these jeans. It hangs at a great length, and it’s different than any of the other necklaces I have in my closet.
So what do y’all think about this outfit? Do you like that I really went for it by doubling down on the stripes? I really love the whole look.

For the second outfit, I went bold, but in a different way! I decided to throw the camo trend in with the stripes, and I think it turned out great!
camo tee (50% OFF) (plus size camo tee also 50% OFF)/ military jacket(30% OFF, and then an additional 20% OFF!) / necklace / earrings / side striped jeans (Buy 1, Get 2nd 50% OFF when you buy 2 pairs of jeans!)/ booties( 40% OFF) / bag option
You can see that I cuffed the jeans here to show a little bit of ankle and make them a better length for me on my 5’4″ frame. This is the length I’ll get them hemmed to. (Pay no attention to the fact that my right bootie isn’t zipped. I have no idea how I didn’t notice that. Ha!)
The camo tee (there’s also a plus size tee) has a relaxed fit (I sized up to a medium for it to be just the right amount of loose), and I love the v-neck. All of the other camo tees I’ve found recently have crew necks, and I typically prefer a v.
And ladies. The military jacket!!!
This is the perfect jacket for those of you that have been asking for one that covers your bum. After showing two cropped military jackets over the last couple of weeks, I received many requests for a recommendation for a longer jacket. I tried several on to find one that I could recommend to y’all (I have a long one in my closet already, but it’s at least 3 years old). Sadly, I didn’t like any of them that I tried. Most of them were too stiff and/or too bulky, and one of them was a better fit but I didn’t love the color.
WELL! This jacket is a great color, a great length, and a great fit. I highly recommend it….especially since it’s on SUPER SALE right now!
I’m wearing an x-small here, and I’m never an x-small in jackets, so I would definitely suggest sizing down. Notice how it covers the bum.
Everything else in the outfit is the same: same jeans, same necklace, same earrings, same booties. You know what else is the same? I mean, besides the fact that my bootie is still not zipped.
The fact that I still feel cool in the jeans.

Before you go, let’s talk about some shoes. I ordered TONS of goodies from Macy’s in preparation for this post, because I wasn’t sure what direction I was going to go with it. Well, a ton of clothes, bags, and jewelry already went back to the store… but I held on to 3 pairs of shoes (and I’m showing a pair here that I already had) in addition to the clothes and jewelry shown above. WHAT? I kept 3 pairs of shoes? Yep, they were all too good.
The buckle booties are what you saw in the above pictures. They are true to size, comfy, and I love the color and where they hit me on the ankle.
The UGG loafers are a freaking dream. SERIOUSLY. You will feel like you are walking on clouds. Or marshmallows. Or kittens. I mean, think of THE SOFTEST MOST COMFY THINGS EVER. And then imagine yourself walking on them. They are true to size. #buythem #andthenwritemeathankyounote (FYI: After walking around the house a bit in these, I was wondering if I should size down a 1/2. But then I read lots of reviews, and the great majority of people say they are true to size.)
The Lucky booties are some of my favorite booties from over a year ago. I thought they were out of stock everywhere, so I was so excited for y’all when I found them at Macy’s! True to size.
And the Shoreline Converse are just plain cute. I have a navy pair that I wear all the time, but I ruined my white pair over the summer when I tried to bleach them and somehow turned them a dingy yellow color. It was terrible. Well, instead of replacing them with another pair of plain white, I thought this striped look was fun!

Back to the outfits. I’m dying to know! Do you prefer Look #1 or Look #2? Sound off in the comments! And are you thinking you are brave enough to try the trend? If not, keep in mind that I LOVE all of the other outfit pieces and shoes I highlighted today! Lots of good stuff, even if you aren’t pairing them with the striped jeans.
If there’s another trend you are wondering about, leave it in the comments and I will try to address it in a future post. And I can’t let you leave without reminding you that THE BEST EYESHADOW PALETTE IN THE LAND, the Urban Decay Naked Palette, is being discontinued. I don’t understand it, but I am pumped that it’s 50% OFF right now.  A huge THANK YOU to Macy’s and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post!

Both looks are so cute, but I’m drawn to the camo and military jacket–unzipped bootie and all!
Cyndie says
LOVE both!! Visually I’m drawn to the striped sweater in #1, but would probably feel more comfortable in #2. You look amazing, as always, thanks for the great idea!!

Agree on the camo outfit and subject I’d like to suggest the topic of ‘over the knee boots’ I struggle with sitting wearing ‘over knee boots’ they look great if you stand but sitting can make them look ‘cra-cra’ help!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Janet! Hmmmmm….I’ve never thought about it or noticed it! My over the knee boots are tight over the knee. Are yours loose?
Ashley says
I grabbed the Ugg loafers during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in a poppy red color. They truly are soooo comfy! I stayed true to size. I might need to grab this tan color now too!

So cute! I always pause with pieces that might be hard to style because I don’t want to invest in something I need to invest in more pieces just to wear, you know? Love the stripes with stripes look and thinking outside the box on the look!
April Parrish says
I’m in love with outfit #2!!! I found a pair of these jeans at Target for my 11 year old daughter and have said numerous times I wished I could find some in my size.
I love it paired with the camo and cuffed up.
Karen says
I love both looks but my favorite is the one with the striped sweater. It just seemed to be an edgier look. But as usual, you’re adorable in both! Incidentally I just got back from a trip to Germany and Denmark, and all I saw over there were striped jeans. I didn’t pull the trigger there but after seeing your post, I may have to!
Joelle says
Hi – could you tell me what size you ordered in the sweater.? Because it is a boxy fit, I don’t want to go too large. Thx!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Joelle! A small!
