Hi PTMT! I’m Laura and I blog at Hollywood Housewife. Sheaffer and I found one another through Hi Sugarplum and she instantly made me laugh. I love the internet.

Hollywood Housewife is where I chronicle my life as a wife, mom, and writer in Los Angeles. I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma and even though I’ve been in California for over a decade, I still find myself at a crossroads between my roots and my reality.

I have to admit that I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. I was all about it when Pinterest first came on the scene, but I grew icy fast. I wrote about how women are losing what is cool about their natural style. Still, I’ve been sucked down the Pinterest rabbit hole on many an evening.

And then this experiment arose when Sheaffer asked me to guest post and I fell in love with Pinterest all over again. I learned something about my own style and stepped out of the box!

I got this pair of white lace shorts last summer and not only are they darling, they have an elastic waistband. I’ve had two kids, folks. Elastic is my friend. My best friend. I’ve only ever paired the shorts with a colored top, but when I was browsing Pinterest I noticed that most people were doing white on white. It had never occurred to me!

This was my first attempt.

It was…cute-ish. It kinda looks better in the pictures than it does in real life. Maybe it’s because my sweater was just a hair off-white? I decided to try again.

Probably I should have chosen an inspiration picture that wasn’t quite so model-y. Oh, well, I aim high.

To my surprise, it worked! It looked really summer-y and polished. This is never how I would have styled these lace shorts myself, so I feel like I really accomplished something. If putting together a single outfit counts as accomplishing something.

I am IN LOVE with your white bag and nude shoes, 
and you are ROCKING those white lace shorts!

I’ve been seeing white on white all over Pinterest too, but I hadn’t tried it until last week.

(My white on white post.WITH a blazer goes live tomorrow morning!)

It was a little scary to put together, but once I did it, 
I loved how fresh it looked!

So, we’ve established that WHITE ON WHITE and WHITE ON NUDE is a seriously huge trend right now….but if you ladies are anything like me and Laura, it‘s not something you would necessarily think of doing on your own.
In addition to white, lace is also totally “IN” right now.
So…..because we are SO in the know over here at Pinterest Told Me To, I thought I would offer up some choices for people in case they are interested in going for this look too!

 Or what about THIS white lace shirt HERE.  I love it and feel like it would be an easy way to incorporate the white lace trend into your wardrobe.  You know, if you aren’t brave enough to try the white lace shorts.
  
Speaking of white lace shorts, I found 4 choices.
I actually found lots of choices, but you wouldn’t believe how much $$ people are wanting for white lace shorts.  
Not to mention, people are really playing it fast and loose with the word “shorts”.
So many options would barely cover your hoo-ha.

Ooh wait! I just thought of another way to incorporate the lace trend into your wardrobe.

Check out THESE natural colored crocheted TOMS.  There are soooo many fanastic reviews online.  Some of them say to order a whole size down, some say to order a 1/2 size down….so read some of the reviews and determine what is best for you!

Okay, enough of the lace, on to just some white and nude choices to add to your closet.

And I just got THESE white cut-offs.  These are a great option if you want some white shorts but aren’t quite ready to get a pair of lace ones for yourself.  They have stretch in them, so they are super comfortable.  I actually got them in the denim too!
