Last year’s camo pants at GAP sold out VERY quickly, so I’m guessing that will happen this year too.
I really like the muted tones of these pants, and I’m totally in love with the edginess
that the zippers add.
I received several comments from
people on Friday saying “I have some camo pants from last year…but I
always wear them the same way. I can’t wait to see how you are going to
style yours!” Or, “I just bought these pants, but I have NO IDEA what I’m going to wear with them!”
I’m here to help.
I’m really hoping that if you have these pants and your stumped that you won’t be after this post!
Click HERE for the pants (don’t get your hopes up, they are not included in the 30% off sale). Boo!
Sadly, they were
So, since I couldn’t style them (SINCE THE DANG THINGS WOULDN’T ZIP UP), I thought I would show you LOTS and LOTS of ways to style them with the help of my girl Pinterest.
She never fails me. Never.
I like how these 3 ladies styled the camo pants with ankle boots and solid color tops.
(I’m working on an ankle boots post right now, and for somebody that used to NOT be a fan of the bootie, I sure do want to buy lots of them!)
similar Taupe boots HERE and HERE (LOVE LOVE LOVE these taupe choices! They would go with your entire closet!)
similar brown boots HERE
similar black studded boots HERE and HERE
These next two ladies styled them with burgundy tops and flats.
Fancy.
oxblood flat option HERE (same as my nude flats, but burgundy suede!)
oxblood patent flat option HERE
“Oxblood” is super hot right now, so any of these things would be great to have in your closet!
The next group of girls styled their pants with denim, and I TOTALLY dig it.
SHIRT OPTIONS

light wash denim shirt option HERE
JACKET OPTIONS

Or if you’re super cool, style them with a super cool t-shirt like these ladies!
THIS “Love Forever” t is greatness! This one is my favorite for sure!
I might need to get this one! This would look GREAT with my camo pants, my distressed khakis, my Vigoss jeans….with all of it!

Now……after working on this post and going over all of the Pinterest inspiration,
I decided I HAD to try to style my pants.
WHO CARES THAT THEY WEREN’T GOING TO ZIP UP!
NOT ME!
I had to try.
I decided I was going to show the pants who was boss.
So I did.
{The lengths I will go for you ladies never ceases to amaze me.
In fact, I almost took a picture of the waistband, but my pride got in the way at the last second.
You’re welcome Chris.}
For my first outfit, I used the “oxblood” inspiration pictures as my guide,
and here’s what I came up with. In the middle picture I’m trying to show you the zipper details (without showing you my underwear). It was a delicate balance.

What do you ladies think?
Girls, this is yet ANOTHER REASON that you MUST BUY the MUST HAVE SHIRT.
It hides a multitude of sins; EVEN PANTS THAT DON’T BUTTON!
Now that my friends is a glowing recommendation if I’ve ever heard one.
MUST HAVE shirt HERE.
(If you already have the MUST HAVE shirt…leave a comment saying what you think about it.
And if you have more than 1 color, say that too!)
And just in case you are starting to come around to the camo trend,
here are some other camo pant options:
click HERE for a Guess pair from Macy’s
Click HERE for a cute pair from JC Penneys that is SUPER affordable!
These would be a great option if you aren’t sure about camo pants and want to “give them a try” for not a lot of money.
Another affordable option from Macy’s HERE.
These have a cute brass stud detail on the pockets.
So….I’m dying to know……
Can you see yourself wearing camo now?
If you’re still not convinced, I’m going to have a handful of other looks for you on Friday!
Before you go, I want to direct you over to my friend Shay’s blog for a big announcement that she made on Friday!
Her family is adopting a little girl!
Go HERE to read Shay’s testimony, and go HERE to read Andrew’s testimony about it.
God is working in this family, and I can’t wait to meet this sweet little girl!
I am so incredibly proud of my friends!

Ahhh! Thank you so much for posting about our adoption! You have been such a huge supporter of this and we know you will love Ashby London so much. Thank you friend! (And PS: you look fab in those snug camo pants! Absolutely fabulous!)

I purchased my first pair of camo pants (or anything camo) las year, from Zara. I love them! I most frequently pair them with my favorite maroon Aggie shirt (AKA oxblood)… It's become a fav for game days, when it's not 112 degrees outside. The shoes are definitely tricky; I'm glad you covered that.

I have the must have shirt. In 4 colors. Seriously. I have black, white, the "oxblood" (ha!), and the navy. I love them all. In fact, even though it's still hot, I've already worn 2 of them because they are so light. And I got so many compliments on both of them. The shirt really is a must have. It's a must have x4! And much to my surprise, I am really liking the camo pants. I never would have thought I would buy a pair, but you just might have convinced me. I mean, it looks like I already have 4 shirts that will work with them. 😉

Ooo, what an awesome color combo for fall – oxblood and camo. Hmm, that sounds like hunting gear! But so much more stylish. You look super cute in those pants.
Tara G. says
Nope on the camo for me personally…our closet is full of military uniforms and when work is done, that's where the camo stays.

Got my camo pants at Walmart for $13.88 and I love them! I can't wait to start pairing them up with all the tops I have. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love my must have shirt in purple! I can't wait to wear it this fall. I can't bring myself to jump on the camo pants trend. Just not happening for me, love it on my kiddos tho~ and you of course!

Cute pants! Thanks for sharing the styling ideas!

So adorable! Love all these styles. 🙂 Also, your hair is fantastic!! It is such a great style. 🙂 Happy Monday!!

This looks sinister! But the above comment posted twice, so I just deleted it! 🙂

I don't know how you did it, but you convinced me that I NEED a pair of camo pants. Well done. I also NEED another must have shirt now. I have it in the black and love it so much, but now I want it in the dark red color too. It might be my favorite shirt I have ever owned, and I know I will be pulling it out all fall. I know I will wear it a lot, so it's totally justified, right? Thanks for all of the inspiration today!

Just tried on a pair of camo pants from Forever 21 ($20) last night! Cute — faded, slanted zips, cropped and my favorite thing — back flap pockets. The best butt enhancer ever! Runs very small though (shock! at For21??) Just found you, Sheaffer. Addicted already!

I have a question about the must have shirt. Is it dry clean only, or how does it wash?
Sheaffer says
Hi there! I haven't yet washed this shirt (only wore it once for a couple of hours and hung it right back up). However, I have other pleione shirts like this and I can wash it on gentle. If anybody else has more experience with washing this exact shirt, please comment!

Sheaffer 🙂

I washed mine in cold water and hung to dry (folded in half over a drying rack – not hung on a hanger or you'll get those lumps in the shoulders from the hanger), then just tumbled it in the dryer for a few minutes on low heat to soften it up. It came out perfectly!

Love how you put the must have shirts with the camo pants. You look awesome! I saw those pants at Gap but thought I'd never be able to style them. Love them on you though! I have the must have shirt in white and the purple is coming…although I'm pretty sure I'm going to exchange the purple for the oxblood (HATE that word haha) color if they get it in stock. Also – got my Kimberly necklace and oh my I love it. It goes with SO much in my closet. I tried on outfit after outfit and it looked awesome (especially with my amazing new must have jeans!). My hubby even told me to go buy another pair if I wanted. I think he's just so glad I found a cheaper pair of jeans but who am I to argue! 🙂

I have a question about boots! I know this post wasn't about them but after reading your blog I decided I would buy some great riding boots for the fall. I tried on a great pair at Ralph Lauren but the calf seemed a little wide. I don't have unusually small calfs (calves??) or anything. How much space should there be between the boot and the top of your calf? Do you know any brands that have smaller calf diameters?
Thanks!

I live in Mississippi. I'm afraid I just can't make camo happen. But it looks adorable on you! Maybe one day with a really faded pair? I don't know…
Michael says
I ignored the camo trend forever since I hate it so much, but I've finally been seeing camo done right and now I think I need some. Pants, jacket? Yes please!
Erin Stinson says
I have the must have shirt in 2 different colors and they are fantastic. I haven't worn them yet, since its still so warm, but I'm already planning outfits around them. I'm not quite on board with the camo look, but you look so cute in those camp pants, that its making me reconsider….hmmm. Time will tell if I take the plunge or not! Thanks!
Mod Commonplace says
By "up a size" do you mean "super hot size that make my legs tiny?" Yep, thought so!

Hi Friend! I have those Michael Kors heel and I love them! So I guess I best go purchase those camo pants. I was trying to figure out why the code wasn't working. Glad I thought to check in with you!

How do you find skinny jeans that are the right length?! Do you ever have to get your jeans tailored? I have the hardest time finding skinny jeans that aren't several inches too long (I'm 5' 3").
Sheaffer says
I'm 5'4", so there are some skinny jeans that I pass on. Others I will just cuff them at the bottom. These camo ones were a great length!

and just like that, I suddenly need camo pants. when never in my life did i think i needed camo pants. why do you have this power over me?!?! forget pinterest, you're in charge of my wallet!!

I love all these camo looks! I want a pair of camo pants so bad, but I live on a military base and I think I would just feel weird wearing camo here. Maybe I'll get over that and get a pair anyway.
Kellyann Rohr says
You look great in those pants! I have camo pants I bought last year in the junior's dept. at Kohl's. I love them! It's funny though that every time I wear them to work (at an elementary school) someone always says, "is it spirit week?" and I have to kindly explain to them that no it is not, this is called fashion! I am wearing them tomorrow with my black must have shirt!
Julie Heath says
I had to order a size up in the camo pants too! 🙂 Your outfits look so cute! I can't wait to see more. You HAVE inspired me! haha

I'm not really a camo fan. I know, I know. But I do like the way some of these ladies have styled their camo pants.

Saw these the other day and wondered, how would sheaffer style them? Now I know, and the fact you modeled them even though they weren't zipped really does demonstrate your commitment to the cause! Thanks! :).

Sadly, camo pants and my thighs don't mix…so instead I bought the Gap camo jacket online last night on sale for $50.00 and they had it in petites! Yay me!

Mk…..so again. You've gotten me into a mess. I mean….it's a glorious mess. But it's still a mess. I saw these camo pants and had to have them. Like right this instant have them. So much so that I went to the outlet store that day.
My outlet store didn't have them. Great. But they did have a plethora of things I did want. I am not a frequent Gap shopper….so I was a little unprepared for the madness.
Needless to say….I walked out a pair of leopard flats and about 13 shirts. And a pair of cuffed capris that were a size 0. I died. I'm fairly confident it was a mistake and the jeans run extremely large…because that's the only zero I've ever purchased in my life.
Also, they didn't even have my freaking camo pants. I've gotta order those bad boys online. But now I'm in a whole other conundrum because I've convinced myself I wear a size 0 now….obviously that's my real size….and now the camo pants run really small….so does that mean I need to order like a size 12? I mean technically I'm a size 4…….so……Schaeffer tell me what to do. K thanksies!!!
Sheaffer says
Morgan!
Okay….laughing SOOOO hard at your comment! Listen, you are TOTALLY a size zero, TOTALLY. However, I would suggest ordering a size 28 in the camo pants. The 27s would not zip on me and I am typically a size 4 (although I am a size zero in my heart).
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

Also…..Sheaffer…..maybe tell me when I've completely jacked up the spelling of your name! Sorry!! 🙂
