This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle. The product selections are my own, and I only highlight and promote pieces that I truly love. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Sheaffer Told Me To!
If you are a dedicated STMT reader, you know that I’ve started doing beauty posts pretty regularly over here.
In the past, I rarely accepted these types of posts because I already had favorite products, and I didn’t necessarily think that I needed to find new ones. But when I realized that it wasn’t always about replacing favorites, but maybe just about finding new favorites, I decided to start accepting them on a semi-regular basis. I found that I really enjoyed trying out new products, and from the feedback I’ve received, y’all like me trying out new products too!
So ladies, I’m now officially ALL ABOUT beauty posts.
Doing these posts has without a doubt enabled me to find new favorite products! Products that I love enough to add them to my regular arsenal. Let’s be honest, trying new products can get really expensive really fast, especially when you don’t love everything you try, so I’m happy to do the work for y’all! Today’s post highlights the Nordstrom Beauty Department.
Nordstrom has always been known for their top-tier customer service, but did you know that their Beauty Service offerings are no different? They of course carry a huge variety of quality products, but you can also get personalized advice and handpicked products by a Beauty Stylist at your local store, free makeup lessons and consultations, and brow and spa services. Nordstrom also hosts beauty events, and you can click HERE to see if there are any coming up at your local store.
I picked a handful of products based upon online reviews, buzz I’d heard, or Nordstrom Beauty Consultant recommendation. My honest reviews follow.
{FYI: Back in March I did a really comprehensive post highlighting my makeup routine for my 5 minute face. That post reviewed products that have been my GO TO products for awhile, and today I’m reviewing NEW TO ME products.}
BEAUTY PRODUCT REVIEWS
Hydra Gel Eye Patches
I cannot believe this is the first time I’m sharing about these Peter Thomas Roth Hydra Gel Eye Patches. I was first introduced to them in April of 2018, and I’ve been using them ever since. When at a conference, one of my friends brought these out for all of us to try. One use, and I was hooked. We all were.
So, how do you use them and what benefits do they have?
You use the enclosed spatula to gently lift and separate a patch from the others, and then you apply the patches under your eye to clean and dry skin.
If you apply with the pointy side up, you will target under eye puffiness and wrinkles. If you apply with the pointy side down, you can target your crow’s feet. They feel nice and cool on your skin when you put them on (I’ve heard some even keep them in the fridge), and I leave them on for 10-15 minutes. The caffeine that’s in them helps de-puff the eye area, and the 24K gold will leave your skin appearing firmer, lifted, and brighter! #YESPLEASE
They are expensive, but I really do notice a marked difference after using them. I don’t use them every day, only when I look extra tired or have extra puffy eyes.

Glow Sweet Glow Gummies
I’m sure y’all are wondering what the heck Glow Sweet Glow Gummies are and why the heck they are appearing on a Beauty post. Well, they are gummies that are infused with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C . #FANCY
Glow Sweet Glow gummies feature an easily absorbable, low-molecular hyaluronic acid that helps to lock moisture into the skin to keep it plump, hydrated and glowing.
I’ve been hearing about hyaluronic acid A LOT lately and all of it’s many benefits for your skin, and I love the idea of treating the skin with it topically (with moisturizers and serums), but also replenishing the body with it from the inside. In fact, research is showing that ingesting it is often even more effective than applying it directly to the skin.
As we age, we naturally lose vitamin C from our skin at both the dermis and epidermis level. This gummy supplement will help counter that loss and promote a nice glow. I MEAN. Don’t we all want to glow?
Many reviewers claim that they really started noticing a difference in their skin after 30 days. I’ve only been taking them for a little over week, so I look forward to seeing measurable results after several more weeks. The texture is a bit tougher than a regular gummie, but they have a nice tangerine taste. Click HERE for all Hum Nutrition products, they all focus on beauty from within.

Jo Malone
I’m a long time fan of Jo Malone fragrances, and I definitely have tried and true favorites, but I always like trying out new scents as well. At both of my local Nordstrom stores they always have a large variety of samples out. They can all be worn on their own or mixed and matched, and I really enjoy trying out different fragrances. This Honeysuckle and Davana combo totally caught my interest and the beauty consultant said it was one of their most popular new fragrances.
It’s a light honeysuckle scent (totally reminds me of the honeysuckle vine in my backyard when growing up), but it has staying power!
If you think most perfumes are too strong, you should really consider trying Jo Malone. The scents are light, fresh, and not overpowering at all. You can see I have quite the collection going.
TIP: When I get to choose my free samples from Nordstrom when making a beauty purchase, I ALWAYS choose a Jo Malone sample if it is an option. They are great for travel or to just throw in your purse for a refreshing pick me up during a regular day. I also always choose a mascara if there is one offered because they are great for travel too!

PRODUCTS FOR FACE
This next shot has 3 products for your face. One is a product that I’ve been using since March, and I’m now devoted to it. The other 2 are new to me products, recommended recently by a beauty consultant at Nordstrom.
MAGIC CREAM
The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream (in the tub) is the product that I’m officially obsessed with. I added into my routine in the Spring after reading about it on several blogs and in several “BEST OF” beauty articles. Lots of users compared it to the much more expensive La Mer line, but said they preferred this product! That was it, I was convinced I needed to try it. Officially, it’s a cream that floods skin with moisture for a glowing complexion in a flash. A little goes a long way with this cream, and it’s not greasy, but it is incredibly hydrating. There is a very light rose scent to this cream, and I don’t normally care for rose, but it doesn’t bother me at all.
I use my fingertips to apply the magic cream and follow the instructions on the site. If you click the link and scroll down, you can both read the instructions and even watch a video showing how to apply this product! It’s so interesting to watch! It has a cult following and a large group of women that absolutely swear by it. I’ve used it just about every day since March, and I just had to buy my 2nd tub last week, so a little truly does go a long way.
FLAWLESS FOUNDATION
In preparation for this post, I headed to the Nordstrom beauty counter at Stonebriar for some advice from an expert. I asked Cris (love her! ask for her at Stonebriar!) if she had any hot new products that she thought I should try. I told her what I’d been using in place of foundation during the summer months, but I told her I wanted something with more coverage for Fall. She immediately said I needed to try the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation.
She applied it to my face with a beauty blender, and it gave a beautiful full coverage and flawless finish. Again, a teeny tiny bit goes a long way. I’ve decided that it’s too heavy for my taste for daytime wear since I’m now used to a more translucent look, but I think it will be perfect for when I want a more dramatic look at night. It’s a new product (and there aren’t many reviews on it), so I suggest heading to your local Nordstrom to give it a try for yourself and to find your perfect shade. Cris said the instructions are very specific to not use a primer before application, but to only use the Magic Cream to prepare your face.
FLAWLESS FILTER
Cris also raved about the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. You can use this product in several different ways, but after playing around with it a bit, I prefer to use it not as an overall foundation. I like it best when applying it to areas that need a little highlight and dewy glow (my cheekbones, top of my nose, and cupid’s bow).

PRODUCTS FOR LIPS
For years and years (AND YEARS) I only wore 1 lipstick, Fashion Icon. It’s a pretty sparkly plum/berry color (although it looks much darker on the site), and I wore it almost exclusively for around 5 years. I would switch up my lip gloss, but the lipstick almost always remained the same.
However, when I started doing these beauty posts back in March, I started experimenting with different colors of lipstick. And since then, I’ve had a lot of fun trying new colors and brands. Now I regularly switch up my lipstick based on my mood, the season, and/or outfit.
Color is big for Fall in both fashion and makeup, and a bright and bold berry lip is very on trend. I picked up 2 new products and want to again talk about a universal red that I love.
Mac Capricious lipstick / Giorgio Armani Maestro Lip Stain / Mac Ruby Woo lipstick
The Mac Capricious lipstick (far left) is a really pretty plum hued berry. It’s the most subtle of all 3 colors I’m highlighting today, and it’s definitely a lipstick I would consider an every day lipstick. I’ve been wearing it a lot lately, and I’ve had several people ask me about it in posts.
The Giorgio Armani Maestro Lip Stain is like nothing I’ve ever tried before. It’s a highly pigmented (very bold, very bright) lip stain. I went with the super bold “Art Deco” and will be wearing it on special occasions. The color is GORGEOUS, but it’s too bold for normal every day wear for me. The texture is smooth, not sticky at all, and it wears for hours and hours without fading. It is such a cool product, and I’m totally going to try a more muted color to see if I can find one that I would feel comfortable wearing on a regular basis. I’m thinking I’m going to try “Rose Sand”.
Ruby Woo (far right) is a red lipstick that I found a couple of years ago when I was looking for a bright red lip color before July 4th. I went in to the store to buy this so I could consult with one of the Nordstrom beauty experts, and without hesitation, she told me Ruby Woo was the best universal red they had. Ruby Woo is supposed to look great on all types of skin tones and with all different hair colors. It’s definitely a blue red, which is great, because I don’t love a red that leans orange. Click HERE to see it on me in lots of different festive July 4th outfits last year.

Charlotte Tilbury Cream Eyeshadow
I’m not a person who is good at eye makeup. #iwishiwas #butiamnot
I mean, I’d love to be good at fancy eye shadow application, but I’ve just never been able to make it happen.
UNTIL NOW.
This cream shadow was another recommendation by Cris at Nordstrom (shout out, Chris!), and my goodness was she spot on with it. You apply it with a shadow brush, starting at the base of the eyelid, and blending upwards. Take it all the way up, almost to the eyebrow, but leave a space to create a bit of a natural highlight. You can layer more product for a higher impact look.
It’s easy to apply, goes on smoothly, doesn’t crease, and lasts all day. When I use this, I don’t even have to use a primer.
And just in case you want a refresher on my other eye products that I absolutely swear by…it’s this eyeliner (in “alloy”) and this lash primer and volumizer. Click HERE for my comprehensive makeup post if you want to know more.

And if you are interested in my full makeup routine, go ahead and hop over to my 5 Minute Face post I did earlier this year. It includes a BEFORE and AFTER picture (with and without makeup), so I know you want to see that! I talk about my entire makeup routine and the post is quite thorough.
Here’s a picture from that post with 3 different lipstick colors. Which is your favorite?
a plum-berry shade called Fashion Icon/ a neutral shade called Pillow Talk/ a red shade called Ruby Woo
That’s it for today, y’all! I hope you are enjoying these beauty posts as much as I am enjoying the process!
A huge thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

I really appreciate your beauty posts and now have several things in my routine as a result of your recommendations. Top of my favorites list: the cleansing balm, the magic cream, the sunshine drops, the eyeliner, and the lash extender. Thank you for these! I’m going to purchase the eye patches today. You never steer me wrong!

That cream eye shadow is amazing! I have marie antoinette and wear it regularly. Now I want to try the vitamins and the eye patches.

Hollywood Flawless Filter is THE BOMB. When it came out I bought it and originally HATED IT. I gave it more time and now I cannot even do concealer around my eyes without it. Her loose powder–same thing. I hated it at first, but I adore it now. I actually mix 1&2 together but either shade works. I also really like the night cream despite the smell.
Kerry Finnegan says
Which color do you use in the eye shadow? Looks like there are two; star gold & rose gold.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kerry! I use the star gold! xoxo

And there are like 6 things in my cart now… xo

Hi Sheaffer! I know you’ve used Colleen Rothschild products for your face, as do I. Are you using the CT Magic Cream in place of the CR Sheer Moisturizer for daytime? I’m intrigued by the CT Cream, but wondering how it fits in my current routine!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Jill! Good question! I’ve actually started using the cleansing balm more like a moisturizer for myself now, but only if I have really dry skin that day. I use the Magic Cream more as prep for my face before a foundation or I mix it with my Sunshine Drops. I hope this helps! xoxo
